Cannot Delete a control

I have an Access DB that used the Microsoft MSComm control.  I recently converted it to Access 2007 in a windows 7 environment.  Of course, the MSComm control showed up as a missing reference.  I had done some research and found what I feel
will be a suitable replacement.  It is SComm provided by Axis Controls.
I renamed the existing control i.e. MSComm1 to MSComm1_Obsolete, then inserted my new control and Named It MSCOMM1.
My existing code worked fine with the new control. You can see both the old control and the new in the picture below.  The white square selected is of course the old control.  I want to remove the old obsolete control, but am unable to delete it.
I select it as pictured below, then either right click and choose delete or press the delete key.  It will not go away!  I don't really think it will hurt anything, but I would like to get rid of it.  Any ideas on why this is and what I can
do about it?

Well, thanks to DanialPinealt (SP) I have come up with a solution.
I can get rid of the object by code in the immediate window. Seems kind of weird that I have to do it this way and cannot just delete the object in design mode, but at least this is a work around.
I created a form that has a command button with the following code.
docmd.OpenForm "test",acDesign
deletecontrol "test", "controlName(Name of the control)"
This gets rid of it.
Anyhow, don't know why I need to do it this way, probably don't need to worry about it, but don't like to leave extra unneeded stuff around.

I wonder what your computing environment is. Is your account being administrated by another account? Are you working in an account subject to "Parental Controls"?

  • Cannot delete users from the Central Management Console

I cannot delete users from the Central Management Console.  I'm logged in to Enterprise as administrator but still get the following error:
There was an error while writing data back to the server: Sorry, you do not have the right to 'Delete objects' (id - 22) for 'koberg' (id - 725415). Please contact your system or permissions administrator if you require this right.
Thanks in advance for any help on this matter.

Oops, my mistake, sorry. Ok, so the Administrator cannot delete user koberg.
    Check top level:
Logon to CMC, browse to Home > Settings and select the Rights tab. These are your top level settings. Factory default will show only Administrators and Everyone. Select the Net Access "Advanced" for the Administrators group. NB: Do not select these group names links - they will jump you out of the top level! On the Advanced rights page, ensure the right to "Delete objects" is explicitly granted.
Then set for the Users top level folder:
In the CMC, browse to Home, and select Users. Select the "Rights" button. Again - NB: Do not select these group names links - they will jump you out of the Users top level folder! Set the Administrators group to "Full Control". Save.
That should be all you need. However, there is a possibility the previous admin was busy setting security not only at the account level, but on groups so we need to verify the user:
In the CMC, browse to Home, and select Users. In the User list, select koberg. In the koberg account page, select the Rights tab. If the Administrators is not set to (Inherited Rights), make it so, and when you select the "Update" button, you should see the Net Access update to "Full Control". If this is the case, you should follow these steps on each account and accomplish this.
And if you still can't delete it, verify the groups:
In the CMC, browse to Home, and select Users. In the User list, select koberg. In the koberg account page, select the "Member of" tab. Note all groups koberg is a member of. Then in the CMC, browse to Home, and select Groups. Select the name hyperlink for the group(s) that koberg belongs to. On the group page, select the Rights tab, and ensure the Administrators have (Inherited Rights) - Full Control on all of these, also. If not, set it.
Finally, I know you inherited this, but let's overview some basics of simplifying your deployment administration. Follow these guidelines, and your administration life will be so much easier.
    1. The Everyone group should never have any subgroups. Ever. All accounts on the system are a member of the Everyone group. Adding subgroups to the Everyone group is redundant.
    2. For simplicity's sake, Application level access should be set on the Adminstrators Group, and the Everyone group. I know there are customers who add groups to application rights. I don't understand why users would have an account on the system if they are not allowed access to InfoView, but it's your system.
    3. From a report object perspective, the Everyone group should be set at the top level to "No Access". This will result in them having no rights on anything at all. You break this inheritance at the application level to give them access to InfoView and other apps. On folders and objects, you ADD groups, then assign (ADD) rights as desired.
    4. If you can help it, never explicitly deny a right to any user or group for any object or application. Explicitly deny overrides any other setting. If a user belongs to group A and group B, and group A is explicitly denied a right, you can explicitly grant it for group B or the user all day long, and it will still be denied. Always try to put yourself in the position of adding groups/users, and adding rights, then inheriting as far down the folder tree as you can.

  • Cannot delete photos from camera folder in PC by USB connection

After few times update of iOS, I cannot delete the photos in iPhone 5 from my laptop. I can do it before but not now.
I usually connection my iPhone 5 through USB cable to my laptop.
Just go to My Computer and open iPhone photo album, then select, copy, cut or delete. This is my way to manage my photos.
I have not using iTunes for long time since the iCloud launch.
Please help me on this issue.
    Many thanks.

Not only was this design change an extremely bad idea, after updating my phone, it moved all the pics from my camera roll into a photos album that cannot be edited.  I can no longer delete any of these pics from my phone or from the USB connection, except from the camera roll which was added back. Now what??
How am I supposed to get rid of all the pics I don't want? This idiotic change created a big mess for me that there appears to be no way out of...

  • Unable to delete files from my startup disk; can move to trash and delete them there, but cannot delete from startup disk?

I constantly get a warning message that my startup disk is full and I need to remove/back up files from it.  I have already backed up the files from my "All Documents" folder, which is on the left side of the menu in my startup disk.  The problem is, I cannot delete those same files from the "All Documents" folder on my startup disk.  It will let me move them to the trash, which I can empty, but they still do not delete from the "All Documents" folder.  Does anyone know why?

Drag the files you want to delete (this applies to applications too) from their current location to the Trashcan icon in the dock. The trash will appear full. Hold down the control key and click on the Trashcan and select "Empty Trash" from the pop-up menu.
Alternatives to the control-click method: double-click on the Trashcan and click the "Empty" button in the upper right corner of the window that comes up; right-click on the Trashcan (only works if you have right-click enabled); press shift-command-delete; select "Emtpy trash..." from the Finder menu.

  • ICal (Lion) before synching, when creating a NE in Month view, edits don't save or if they do I also get a ghost NE that I cannot delete

When I am in Month view and double click to create a new event, then edit the name and duration of such and click done, most times it does not save it or it appears to save it, the name changes but when i click away, it reverts to a blank New Event. Sometimes it will save the event as edited but then it will also create a blank New Event on that same day that I then cannot delete.
I do synch with my iPad through iTunes BUT I have not synched for over a month now and this is happening with new events I am creating since the last synch.
    Any suggestions most appreciated.

    Hello Mujno,
To fix this issue, you need to determine how you are navigating between pages. Are you navigating between multiple pages within a page (like html iframe) or navigating from one page window to another. The Frame control helps keep track of
    the page navigations.
Here's what you can try per scenario:
    1) Navigating between pages within a page
    - You would have to include a frame control on all pages that use your reusable class. The frame control would be a container for any page that you want to navigate and display the content. I doubt this is what you are doing but figured it's worth mentioning.
    - You can use the "this.Frame.Navigate(.....)" after including the frame control on the page. Note that "Frame" is the name of the frame object.
    2) Navigating from one page window to another
    - You can navigate to another page from your reusable class by instantiating a new frame from the current window.
    Frame rootFrame = Window.Current.Content as Frame;
    rootFrame.Navigate(typeof(Object), Object);
Let me know if this helps.

  • Cannot Delete Bonjour Created Printers On Win 7 PC

I have thoroughly deleted Apple's "Bonjour For Windows" application from my Windows 7 Home Premium PC because it simply would not work. It would not allow me to access or use my Canon MP530 printer which uses a USB connection to our desktop iMac. I tried to delete the "printers" created by Bonjour prior to uninstalling the software. That did not work. Now I cannot delete the printers after the software is thoroughly gone either.
Can anyone tell me how I can get rid of these Bonjour-created printers from my Devices and Printers container? I suspect they are interfering with my ability to access and use the printer using a strictly Windows 7 configuration / setup (Which is NOT easy to establish. Contrary to Microsoft advertising, working through a network setup like we have is unclear, the printer is not discovered or discoverable, and the network administrator I'm supposed to check with is ME.).
Other Factors Which May Have A Bearing:
    1. The iMac and Win 7 PC are connected to the Internet and each other via a Siemens Speedstream Gigaset SE567 router. The iMac and PC are connected to the router via ethernet. The router also provides wireless access to a Windows XP laptop and a Macbook Pro.
    2. No, it is not possible to directly connect the printer to the router or PC. It must remain connected to the iMac (family preferences and politics rule here).
    3. Bonjour worked very well for us to enable printing from the PC through the router then the iMac (providing the wife had not turned it off or to sleep) when the PC was running Vista. Bonjour printing under Win 7 beta and RC was flaky and intermittent. I also could not delete Bonjour created printers under Win 7 beta or RC. I could only create new ones to try out different configuration options.
    4. Windows 7 was a clean install. The version of Bonjour attempted with Win 7 is the latest (1.0.6) I could find and freshly downloaded and installed.
    5. Other commentators found on PC forums are now warning that Bonjour is not compatible with Windows 7. This is not too surprising as all of the Bonjour related help available on this Apple site assumes the user is running an Airport router. Which we are not.

Update: I made many attempts to create a working printer following Microsoft's (and Microsoft supportive blogger's) instructions for adding a printer under Windows 7. I tried to create both various local printers and network printers. While each attempt did create a printer in "Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Devices and Printers" none of them worked. Either the print job would vanish in thin air or I would get an error message of the obscure kind. And every time I followed up on the error message by allowing Microsoft to diagnose and fix the problem I would always end up receiving the direction to consult my administrator. The only good thing that came from these efforts was that these malfunctioning printer setups, unlike the Bonjour-created ones, would delete themselves when I told them too.
One of the things I did not mention before is that my home PC (HP Media Center [m8120n]) is set up to offer dual booting. If I do nothing for about 40 seconds after I turn it on it boots up as a Windows 7 PC. Or I can choose to have it boot up as a Linux PC running Ubuntu 9.10.
So guess what happens when I tell the Linux PC it to print a page originally created on the Win 7 side in Microsoft Word but loaded into OpenOffice under Ubuntu? Or a web page loaded into Firefox? It prints! Beautifully and quickly! From the PC, through the router, then the iMac and out the Canon MP530 printer.
This told me that port UDP 5353 was not being blocked by my internal router and the iMac was not raising any internal security blocks against print jobs coming from the PC under Ubuntu. Examining the settings under Ubuntu I confirmed the printer was identified as "mp530" and it was printing to my network's internal IP address xxx.xxx.254.3:631.
I decided to boot up as a Windows 7 PC and try Bonjour once again. This time a more thorough investigation of the Windows firewall confirmed that (after re-installation) Bonjour was identified as a recognized application allowed access.
But none of the printer setups previously created by Bonjour worked. Nor could I delete them. New ones I tried to establish would not allow me to specify they print to internal IP address xxx.xxx.254.3:631. (One created by Bonjour did report it was set to internal IP address xxx.xxx.254.3:631\printers\mp530. But that one would not work either. Trying to eliminate the "\printers\mp530" portion of the setting generated a "you can't do that" error message.)
I finally gained some success when I decided to try non-Canon drivers offered by Bonjour. HP drivers also would not work. The setting "Generic" and "MS Publisher Color Printer" does. At least for now.
Does this mean Bonjour successfully works with Windows 7? Not by my standards. More work on both of those needs to be done. Particularly when it appears CUPS works where Bonjour or Windows 7 print services do not.
Oh, and I'm still stuck with five non-working Bonjour-created printers I cannot delete from my Windows 7 "Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Devices and Printers".

  • Cannot Delete Adobe Reader 9 Installer after failed download

I tried to download Adobe Reader 9 and the installation froze around 83%.  After multiple attempts I tried downloading an older version (Adobe 8) and it worked but the installation folder for Adobe 9 is still on my desktop and it will not let me delete it. I have already tried using the Windows Install cleanup tool but it did not work. Any other ideas on how I can get rid of this installation program?

Thanks.. I managed to find a way to make it work.. I had no Adobe Reader in my list of programs when I went to Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove..  I took a  chance and deleted Acrobat.com.. that allowed me to reload the latest v of Reader.  I hope it didn't mess anything else up.

I had same situation. Was able to delete by the following: (don't know why)
In Windows Explorer dragged the Adobe AIR folder from Desktop to another folder (which
removed it from the desk top display). Then just deleted it from the other folder.
    Hope it works for you.

  • Cannot delete HID subkeys in Windows 7

I cannot delete HID subkeys in Windows 7 (32-bit & 64-bit). Please see the registry image below. I need to delete subkey VID_04D8&PID_00DE and its subkeys.
I used LabVIEW 8.5 and had turned off User Account Control. Here is my code:
    The error I got is:
Error -604 occurred at Open Registry Key.vi
Possible reason(s): LabVIEW: Remote registry access denied.
In the registry window, I can grant permission of Full Control up to CurrentControlSet level, but starting Enum subkey, Windows won't let me to grant Full Control permission.
Could someone please help on this issue?

Wait you want to change those values with LabVIEW VIs? If so you have to launch your LabVIEW program as administrator instead. You can't change the access rights of system registry entries easily.
You can usually do that from an explorer window, by right clicking on your program icon and selecting to start it as administrator.

  • Make it so you cannot delete history

Hi, i want to make it so you cannot delete this history on my computer to monitor which sites my kids are using? How can I disable this so they cannot delete the history, and i only i can do it with a password or something?

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
If they have access to your Safari/Preferences window then they can change the way in which your control the History using the pop up menu.
You might want to consider using Parental Controls.
    Open System Preferences/Parental Controls
You may need to click the gold padlock icon to make changes. You will be prompted for your admin password.
Help here to set that up. http://theappleblog.com/2009/01/13/kid-proofing-a-mac-with-parental-controls/
And a video tutorial here. How to Setup and User Parental Controls in Leopard
You can use the Property List Editor to see which sites have been visited without the History trail.
Go to ~/Library/Safari and double click the History.plist file.
~ (Tilde) represents your Home Folder
The Property List Editor will open.
Click the black disclosure triangle next to: WebHistoryDates so it faces down.
You can view website addresses in the History there.

Deleting songs downloaded to your device
You can delete a song or album from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch at any time. Don't worry; it'll still be in the cloud.
    Tap the Music app.
Tap More > Songs at the bottom.
Scroll or search for the song you would like to delete from your device.
Swipe right to left on the song, and then tap Delete.
Note: You must be in Artists, Songs, or Albums view to delete songs from your device. Deleting from a playlist won't remove a song from your iOS device.

  • Cannot delete file from external hard drive (error code 36) in Finder, but Terminal is ok

I have a relatively new Macbook Pro Retina 15" and have a Western Digital 1 TB Passport.  I've been using the passport for about a year now without any problems on older Macbooks in my house.  I used to be able to read and write to this drive no problem.  I am using the Paragon NTFS for Mac software in order to read and write to the NTFS drive.  When I navigate through the drive in Finder, if I try to create a new folder, I do not have a problem.  If I try to delete that folder I just created, I get this error:
The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “untitled folder” can’t be read or written.
    (Error code -36)
The folder has nothing in it whatsoever.  I just created it.  But if I go to Terminal and I run
    rm -rf "untitled folder"
This works fine.  Why is Terminal acting different than Finder?  This does not happen on my other Macbooks.  Thanks in advance.

Thanx for such qucik reply!!! The pages were great, it had an answer for my problem, but unfortunately it also involved me dealing with it only on the MacIntosh HD itself, not on mounted external drive I suppose... So it didn't work they say that there is an icon in the left corner indicating locked folder - I don't see any icon on it. It says you can untick the box to unlock the folder - there is no tick to be unticked. Finally, they say that if I don't have permition or rights I cannot delete it. But how do i change permittion which already says that i can read and write in it? So everything appears to be normal only I cannot delete it. there is not even any warnig telling me I don't have enough rights, it just requires the password and after me typing it in it makes the sound of scraping paper but does nothing more. I aslo had some problems with emptying Trash after being seemingly succesful with one file and had got so far to have them appear in the Trash (no clue how this one actully got there though..) I followd the advice and emptied the Trash with Terminal. The Folder is still there but it shows 0 Kb... So far so good BUT: It is still on the external drive, so I obviously only managed to copy it into the Trash!!! Phew, innit a bit too tight to poor owners, this macbook?? I want my rights back!

  • Cannot delete file from disk after emailling that file like attachment

After i send some file from disk in Mail like attachment i cannot delete that file from disk unless i quit Mail. Like Mail is still using a file. Of course, that mail is in Sent mail, not in outbox.

This deeper than that. I created another account on the same iMac and it works in Harmony with my other devices and Documents in the cloud. I can only imagine the icloud account is somehow corrupted (I am on my macbook not iMac at the moment). There have been no updates to the Calendar, Contacts or Documents since early January on that account. I have spent 1hr on the phone with support and they were baffled as well. Only thing I can gove as insight to the problem is this, I was on the Mac Mini which was backed up on Time Machine. about 4 or 5 months ago I had to completley restore the Mac Mini becasue of the never ending circle on the load screen. The Backup failed to work it kept loading the issue and 4 or 5 times the circle of death kept coming up I would subsequently wipe the Mini and go further back in the back up until I go a copy that worked.  I then loaded the Time Mache back up into my NEW iMac and wnet from there. It took about a month for this problem I am detailing above to start happening. It maybe a corrupt file loaded from the backup into the new iMac causing this problem. Best answer I can think of on my own???
