Cannot disable table trigger in Oracle 9i

Hi,
I find out once a while I cannot disable table trigger in Oracle 9i 9.0.1.3.0. Whenever I disable it will hang for few minutes and then return an error saying 'time-out and the trigger cannot be disabled'. I have checked and all users are not using the table. I can only disable the trigger after I restart the Oracle instance or service. Anyone has this problem and how to solve it? Tks.

plz post the error, what kind of trigger is it (ie login trigger)

  • Create Table Trigger to replicate data from MSSQL2K5 to Oracle 11G on Linux

    I am trying to create a trigger on my MSSQL 2k5 server so that when a record is inserted, a replicated record is created in a table on an Oracle 11g database on a Linux server (Oracle Linux 6).
    Creating the trigger is easy, but when I test it I am getting an error stating the following:
    .NetSqlClient Data Provider The operation could not be performed because OLE DB Provider 'OraOLEDB.Oracle' for linked server "<myserver>" was unable to begin the distributed transaction.
    OLEDB Provider "OraOLEDB.Oracle" for linked server "<myserver>" returned: "New transaction cannot enlist in the specified transaction coordinator"
    Here is the trigger (MSSQL):
    SET ANSI_NULLS ON
    GO
    SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
    GO
    CREATE PROCEDURE insert_aban8_state
        @an8 int,
        @st nvarchar(3)
    AS
    BEGIN
        SET NOCOUNT ON;
        declare @c numeric
        select @c = count(*) from [e9db]..[CRPDTA].[ABAN8_STATE$] where alan8=@an8 and aladds=@st
        if(@c =0)
         begin
            insert into [e9db]..[CRPDTA].[ABAN8_STATE$]
            values(@an8, @st)
         end
        END
    GO
    After reviewing the MS Transaction Coordinator, I am now totally confused. I checked the services and have the MS DTC enabled and running, but am not sure what to do on the Linux side.
    Does the Oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server (OraMTS) work on Linux? I could only find references for this for Oracle 11g on Windows.
    What do I need to do to enable this replication via mssql table trigger to Oracle11g on Linux?

    nsidev wrote:
    While I would agree in part, it appears from the message that the trigger is requiring the Transaction Service to be enabled on both the host and target. The point of this post is to determine what, if anything, I need to do on my Oracle DB to allow the trigger to complete successfully.
    There are many posts found with Google concerning the OraMTS service on the Oracle system, but they all appear to be for Windows based systems. My question is, is this service part of the Linux based Oracle DB and if so, how do I initialize it?
    If I am mistaken and this is truly an issue with the MSSQL server, I will replicate the post in those forums. I am just looking for direction and help.
    1) I have NEVER heard that Oracle has, knows about, or supports any "Transaction Service".
    2) Consider what I previously posted regarding the flavor of client source.
    If your assertion about this mythical service were correct, then the Oracle DB would have to be able to "know" that this client connection was originated by SQL Server.
    I don't understand how or why Oracle should behave differently depending upon whether INSERT is done inside or outside a MS SQL Server trigger.
    Please explain & elaborate why Oracle should behave different depending upon the source of any INSERT statement.
    3) From Oracle DB standpoint an INSERT is an INSERT; regardless of the client.

    ORA-20123 is a localized/customized error code & message; therefore any solution depends upon what is unique inside your DB now.
    I suspect that some sort of TRIGGER exists, which throws posted error, but this is just idle speculation on my part.
    How do I ask a question on the forums?

  • Cannot disable constraint error

    Hi - this might be a bit of a noob question but here goes. I have a table with a constraint (called FK_Category_Product) that I want to disable. When I run this statement the constraint is returned in the results:
    SELECT owner,constraint_name, constraint_type, table_name, status
    FROM user_constraints
    WHERE constraint_type = 'R'However when I run this statement:
    alter table T_PRODUCT disable constraint FK_Category_ProductI get this error:
    SQL Error: ORA-02431: cannot disable constraint (FK_CATEGORY_PRODUCT) - no such constraintAnyone got any ideas?
    Edited by: user9507427 on Mar 17, 2013 5:08 PM

    Ok thanks - I'm guessing it's something to do with the schema / owner. Here's my version ( running on Windows Server 2008 R2):
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit ProductionWhen I run this query:
    SELECT owner,constraint_name, constraint_type, table_name, status
    FROM user_constraints
    WHERE table_name='T_PRODUCT'I get these results:
    OWNER                          CONSTRAINT_NAME                CONSTRAINT_TYPE TABLE_NAME                     STATUS
    PRODOWNER                       FK_Product_SourceSpecies       R               T_PRODUCT                      ENABLED

  • Cannot drop table

    Versions are Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 and SQL Developer 4.0.0.12 on Windows 7 Ultimate SP1.
    Hi
    I'm following the CBT Nuggets SQL Fundementals training (video #11) and cannot drop a table I have just created.  The command executed and error are:
    drop table newprods;
    Error starting at line : 1 in command -
    drop table newprods
    Error report -
    SQL Error: ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
    ORA-20000: Cannot drop object
    ORA-06512: at line 2
    00604. 00000 -  "error occurred at recursive SQL level %s"
    *Cause:    An error occurred while processing a recursive SQL statement
               (a statement applying to internal dictionary tables).
    *Action:   If the situation described in the next error on the stack
               can be corrected, do so; otherwise contact Oracle Support.
    As the HR user I created two tables and created a FK constraint between them.  After truncating the table with this FK, I am unable to drop it.  Even if I remove the FK, the error is the same.  Issing the command in SQL*Plus gives the same error.
    This is the first time I have created any tables since installing Oracle on this machine and is my first attempt at dropping a table.  I have not created any sequences, triggers or views based on these newly created tables.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Cheers

  • What is the easiest way to export all tables data from Oracle to MS SQL Server?

    Hello MS,
    I would like to export all tables from Oracle 11.2 to MS SQL Server 2012 R1.
    Using the tool "Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant v6.0 for Oracle" did not work for me because there are too many warnings and errors regarding the schema creation (MS cannot know it because they are not the schema designer). My idea is
    to leave/skip the schema creation to the application designer/supplier and instead concentrate on the Oracle data export and MS SQL data import.
    What is the easiest way to export all tables data from Oracle to MS SQL Server quickly?
    Is it:
    - the „MS SQL Import and Export Data“ Tool
    - the “MS SQL Integration Services” Tool
    - not Oracle dump *.dmp format because it is a propritery binary format
    - flat file *.csv (delimited format)
    Thanks!

    Hi lingodingo,
    If you want to directly export all tables from Oracle database to SQL Server, I suggest you use SQL Server Import and Export Wizard. Because you just need to follow the wizard with GUI, this is the easiest way.
    If you want to make some modification for the tables‘ data before loading to SQL Server, I suggest you use SQL Server Integration Services package. For more details, please refer to the following similar thread:
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/38b2bed2-9d4e-48d4-a33f-1d9eed1c062d/flat-file-to-sql-server?forum=sqldatamining

  • How to transfer data between different tables in an Oracle 10g databse?

    I have to do the following: there are 5 database tables in our Oracle 10g database that store certain data. Then there are 2 new tables where we want the data to go to. My task is to somehow transfer all the data that is in the first 5 tables and insert it in the 2 new ones. All tables are in the same database. The challenge lies in the fact that the structures of the tables are very dissimilar so it won't be a matter of a simple INSERT SQL query.
    The data access tier of our application is developed in JAVA. We use EJB. So one way I am thinking of doing the above mentioned data transfer is to simply code it in the JAVA backed. But that might be to slow, there are millions of records in those first 5 tables. What is the best way to do something like that? Perhaps a custom (Perl?) script or some such?
    Thanks.

    The problem is that the way the data is stored in the old tables you cannot write a query that would return it in such a format that you could immediately insert it in the new table without some formatting. Let me illustrate with an example. To pull the data from the old tables I use this query:
    SELECT
         SXML_DOCUMENT_DATA.VALUE As DocumentValue,
    SXML_ELEMENT.NAME As ElementName
    FROM
         SXML_DOCUMENT,
         SXML_DOCUMENT_DATA,
         SXML_DOCUMENT_DETAIL,
         SXML_ELEMENT,
         SXML_TYPE
    WHERE
         SXML_TYPE.XML_TYPE_KEY = SXML_DOCUMENT.XML_TYPE_KEY
    AND     SXML_DOCUMENT.XML_DOCUMENT_KEY = SXML_DOCUMENT_DETAIL.XML_DOCUMENT_KEY
    AND     SXML_DOCUMENT_DETAIL.XML_DOCUMENT_DETAIL_KEY = SXML_DOCUMENT_DATA.XML_DOCUMENT_DETAIL_KEY
    AND     SXML_ELEMENT.XML_ELEMENT_KEY = SXML_DOCUMENT_DATA.XML_ELEMENT_KEY
    AND     SXML_TYPE.NAME = 'DA_UNIT_COMMITMENT'
    AND     (SXML_ELEMENT.NAME = 'resource'
         OR SXML_ELEMENT.NAME = 'resourceType'
         OR SXML_ELEMENT.NAME = 'commitmentType'
         OR SXML_ELEMENT.NAME = 'startTime'
         OR SXML_ELEMENT.NAME = 'endTime'
         OR SXML_ELEMENT.NAME = 'schedulingCoordinator')
    ORDER BY
         SXML_DOCUMENT.NAME,
         SXML_DOCUMENT_DETAIL.XML_DOCUMENT_DETAIL_KEY,
         SXML_DOCUMENT_DATA.XML_DOCUMENT_DATA_KEY,
         SXML_ELEMENT.NAME;
    The results from the SQL query above look like this:
    DOCUMENTVALUE | ELEMENTNAME
    1 | ALAMIT_7_UNIT_1 | resource
    2 | GEN | resourceType
    3 | BRS8 | schedulingCoordinator
    4 | IFM | commitmentType
    5 | 2008-07-29T18:00:00:00 | startTime
    6 | 2008-07-30T00:00:00 | endTime
    7 | ALAMIT_7_UNIT_1 | resource
    8 | GEN | resourceType
    9 | BRS8 | schedulingCoordinator
    10 | IFM | commitmentType
    11 | 2008-07-29T00:00:00 | startTime
    12 | 2008-07-29T04:00:00 | endTime
    and so on. The type of data repeats every 6 records. And the values of each 6 records corresponds to 1 row in the new table, which looks like this:
    schedulingCoordinator | resource | resourceType | commitmentType | startDate | endDate
    1| 1 | 27 | GEN | IFM | 2008-07-29T18:00:00:00 | 2008-07-30T00:00:00
    2| 1 | 27 | GEN | | 2008-07-29T00:00:00 | 2008-07-29T04:00:00
    So hopefully now you see the challenge. It is not as simple as writing a SQL query that returns result rows corresponding 1 to 1 to a row in the new table. Somehow I need to take the first 6 result rows from that big SQL query and put them in the first row of the new table. Then the next 6 and put them in the second row and so on. And also, we are talking about millions of records. What happens if I process the first 2 million and then some error occurs? Do I start from the beginning again? One idea I have is to process the data in chunks, say process 500 results, commit, process another 500, commit, and so on.

  • Export data from MS sql server table to an oracle table

    I need to move data from a sql server table to an oracle table and when ever the sql server table is updated it needs to automatically update the oracle table. Is there procedure to do this or do I migrate the data once and set up a trigger on the sql server table to update the oracle table? If the trigger is the answer how do I do that?

    You might want to check out Oracle's heterogeneous services functionality if you haven't done so already. Here are a few links:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14232/toc.htm
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14232/majfeat.htm#sthref74
    Also, consulting the Oracle streams manual may be helpful -- particularly Chapter 5.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14228/toc.htm
    Perhaps someone who is more familiar with SQL Server could provide a more helpful answer.

  • Cannot retrieve table metadata - Table does not exist: ODP source 0WRKCNT_CATG_TEXT does not exist

    Hi, when i able to import the 0WRKCNT_CATG_TEXT extractor into source system i am getting the above bug Cannot retrieve table metadata - Table does not exist: ODP source <0WRKCNT_CATG_TEXT> does not exist, i have been checked in RSA5 T code to check the object is active or not, its active and its available in ROOSATTR table with enabled mode,but still its showing the error, can anyone help on this ..

    Hi Airings,
    'ORA-00942: table or view does not exist'
    According to the error message, it seems that the migrating table or view does not exist in the database, or SSMA does not have access to it. To troubleshoot the issue, please check the following things.
     1. Verify that if the spelling of the table or view name is correct.
     2. If the table or view exists but is in a different schema from the current schema where the SQL is executing (in other word, the table doesn’t own by you, but owned by other user), the ORA-00942 error will return too. Resolve this by
    explicitly reference the table or view by specifying the schema name (schema_name.table_name).
    3. SSMA queries some additional catalog tables that you may not have permission to, please make sure that you grant the account permission to
     read sys.mlog$. For more details, please review this similar thread:

    ORA-02297: cannot disable constraint (string.string) - dependencies exist
    Cause: an alter table disable constraint failed becuase the table has foriegn keys

    Action: Either disable the foreign key constraints or use disable cascade

    Actually, please also correct the words "foriegn" and "dpendent" too!

    BV_ID VARCHAR2 (32) DEFAULT NULL NOT NULL,
    BP_ID VARCHAR2 (32) DEFAULT NULL NOT NULL,
    CONSTRAINT BP_PK

    BP has more 100 records:
    Now I'd like to drop table BP:

    ALTER TABLE BP DISABLE CONSTRAINT BP_PK;
    ORA-02297: cannot disable constraint (BP_PK) - dependencies exist
    I tried disable all constraints with:
    select 'alter table '||table_name||' disable constraints '||constraint_name||';'
    from user_cons_columns
    where column_name='BV_ID'
    or column_name='BP_ID'
    but when I try drop table BP;
    ORA-02449: unique/primary keys in table referenced by foreign keys
    also truncate table BP:
    ORA-02266: unique/primary keys in table referenced by enabled foreign keys
    How can I drop table BP and disable all referenced by enabled foreign keys on table BP?
    Thanks!

    Or you could disable the foreign key constraint refering to primary key on the table and then drop the PK and then drop the table

  • Cannot join tables used in the workbook. Join "" not found in the EUL. Atte

    Trying to migrate workbooks from one instance to other using discoverer 10.1.2.48.18 i am getting the following error
    Unable to open the worksheet requested.
    - OracleBI Discoverer was unable to find the worksheet that was requested.
    - BIB-10310 An unknown exception occurred.
    - Cannot join tables used in the workbook. Join "" not found in the EUL. Attempt to open workbook failed.
    but its fine one instance , and in prod i am getting above weird error.
    does anybody know how to rectify this.

    Note:267476.1 - for those who can't get into metalink but still need to know the answer
    Subject: Discoverer Workbook Fails With 'Cannot join tables.Item dependency "" not found in EUL' After EUL Migration, Importing Or Cloning
    Doc ID:      Note:267476.1      Type:      PROBLEM
    Last Revision Date:      28-APR-2005      Status:      PUBLISHED
    The information in this document applies to:
    Oracle Discoverer - Version: 4.1 to 10.1
    This problem can occur on any platform.
    Symptoms
    Opening a workbook migrated from one instance to another results in the following errors:
    * Unable to load EUL item ...
    * Cannot join tables. Item dependency "" not found in EUL.
    * Illegal operation... DIS4USR OR DIS5USR caused an invalid page fault in module....
    If using the workbook dump utility, you may notice:
    * Found in EUL by id *** Name has changed to .. where the new name is really the wrong column
    It seems that items are matched by internal item identifiers (IDs) and not by developer keys and names.
    Changes
    Migrating from one environment to another. For example, you may have performed a database export / import of the EUL schema from DEV to TEST
    Cause
    The timestamp is the same for both EULs, what can be confirmed by the following SQL statement:
    * Discoverer 4:
    SQL> select ver_eul_timestamp from eul4_versions;
    * Discoverer 9.0.2 , 9.0.4, 10.1 the script is:
    SQL> select ver_eul_timestamp from eul5_versions;
    If the result of the sql output is the same in both EULs, it means that timestamp of both EULs are the same. Discoverer assumes that the EUL are exactly the same (e.g. this can happedn when one of them is created with export/import of the other EUL schema using database export/import utilities) and this is the reason it tries to match items by identifiers and not by developer keys or names.
    Solution
    Change the column ver_eul_timestamp in the eul4_versions (4.1) or eul5_versions(9.0.2 - 10.1)tables to be something different in the destination EUL. The format of this column is like year:month:day:seconds:milliseconds
    Example:
    * Discoverer 4.1:
    sql> update EUL4_VERSIONS set VER_EUL_TIMESTAMP =TO_CHAR(SYSDATE, 'YYYYMMDDHH24MISS');
    sql> commit;
    * Discoverer 9.0.2:
    SQL> update EUL5_VERSIONS set VER_EUL_TIMESTAMP = TO_CHAR(SYSDATE, 'YYYYMMDDHH24MISS');
    sql> commit;
    * Discoverer 9.0.4 -10.1:
    Run the script: EUL5_id.sql as the eulowner ID
    o For 9.0.4 -- This is found on a PC with the Discoverer Administrator installed in drive:\Oracle Home\discoverer\sql
    o For 10.1.0 -- This is found on a PC with the Discoverer Administrator installed in drive:\Oracle Home\discoverer\util

  • Cannot export table

    Hi,
    When i want to export my table or something;Oracle Enterprise Manager gives an error message at the jobs/history as:
    'The system cannot find the file specified.couldn't open "C:/ORACLE/ORADATA/DB1/EXPORT.LOG": no such file or directory'
    I think this error about path separator.If it searchs the file as 'C:\ORACLE\ORADATA\DB1\EXPORT.LOG' won't give error like this.Am i false? If true, can anybody have an idea about how i can change DB's default path separator?If false, why does it give such an error?And how can i solve this error?
    My OS is NT SP6 and Oracle DB is 8.1.6.0.0.
    Thanks.
