Cannot display japanese font/character in WTK22

Hi guys,
I followed this http://www.devarticles.com/c/a/Java/J2ME_and_Unicode/ instructions but I stil cannot display the japanese character on the screen both with eclipe and wtk22.
What seems to be missing with my application? Do I have to install japanese font - if yes please provide steps on how to install or add this property...I've tried to add fonts on the FONTS system of windows but it seems that nothing happens...

...Now with the new fonts installed go to home directory of the Sun Wireless ToolKit, and go into
the directory wtkdevices. Now copy DefaultColorPhone and paste in the same directory
renamed to UnicodePhone. Also, rename the properties file under the UnicodePhone
directory to UnicodePhone.properties. Next, using any editor open the
UnicdoePhone.properties file and find the font section. It should look similar to the...page 2 of the tutorial !

I cannot display Japanese correctly.
I have some problems for displaying Japanese.
1. Not displayed Hankaku Katakana(8bit Katakana).
2. Not displayed Japanese when I used the ScrollableResultSet.
for example,
Stmt = con.prepareStatement( pcSQL, TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE, CONCUR_READ_ONLY );
rs = Stmt.executeQuery();
String strName = rs.getString( "EMP_NAME" );
txtName.setText( strName );
===> the result is displayed in Textfield
"0x42415454EFBD..."
When I didn't use the ScrollableResultSet, the result was correct.
for example,
Stmt = con.prepareStatement( pcSQL );

Firefox for android cannot display Thai font on japanese phone

Due the japanese android phone docomo l-01e has modified some android standards font. some app such as firefox and chrome (they fixed) cannot display thai language.
firefox can config font but i don't know which one i have to config to make it can read thai.

I get a pdf file cannot display chinese character properly in Windows 7 64 bit but Windows XP 32 bit. I did uninstall and re-install Reader 9.4.3 and 10.0.1 with and without Traditional Fonts patch in the 64 bit machine but no luck. Does anyone have a solution for this?

I run Acrobat 9.3.3 on my Windows 7 Pro 64-bit system with no problems. Perhaps you should make sure you have all of Acrobat 9's maintenance installed.

I just now re-installed Arch because I switched hard-drives (to an SSD) and everything seems to be working again, apart from one thing:
urxvt doesn't display Japanese Characters, just questionmarks instead when using ls and garbage characters otherwise.
I literally copied and pasted my ~/.Xresources from my old install, so I'm not quite sure what went wrong.

I already tried re-installing the fonts and I also tried out alternative fonts, but nothing seems to work.

My browser (dwb) displays japanese characters just fine.

Edit: I just realized that urxvt seems to completely ignore the fonts line - I had that problem once before, when I used the AMD Catalyst driver and not the open source one.
I now have an Nvidia card and started using the propietary driver - maybe that has something to do with it?

Displaying Japanese Fonts Problem

I am attempting to edit a RH7 HTML project created in Japanese.
I have Japanese fonts installed and the page displays correctly in the Design window. However, the fonts do not display correctly in the TOC window. Typically, 演算設定選択ワークフローブロック displays correctly on the page and in the Topic Title field looks like ‰‰ŽZÝ’è‘I‘ðƒ[ƒNƒtƒ[ƒuƒƒbƒN in the TOC. Whilst I can understand neither, the end user might notice.
Does anyone know why please.

How to display Japanese fonts in a .txt file i received?

I received an email attachment that is a .txt file.
Some of it is in Japanese and some is in English.
The Japanese text turns out to look like gibberish.... like this...

You might try giving the file a ".txt" extension. Then drag it on top of your Safari icon in the dock, which should open it with Safari. Then, under "View", select a Japanese "Text Encoding". My guess is that this is Shift-JIS.
I am assuming you have not removed Japanese fonts from your system.

[SOLVED] Cannot get japanese fonts working in console

First time with Arch. Did a clean install yesturday with Plasma as my choice of GUI.
I have everything work, except for getting Japanese font support in consoles.
First, fonts worked inside Dolphin, but looked terrible. So I added the infinality repos and installed infinality-bundle, infinality-bundle-multilib, ibfonts-meta-base, and ibfonts-meta-extended.
This was probably overkill, but fonts look perfect in both my file manager and applications, but still no support in console, konsole, uxterm, or yakuake terminals.
Then I made sure both "en_US.UTF-8" and "ja_JP.UT8" inside of /etc/locale.gen were uncommended and then ran "locale-gen" as root to generate the locales. After a reboot the fonts still wont work, the appear as ? in console.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After a lot of messing around, I finally got it to work.
Not only did "en_US.UTF-8" and "ja_JP.UT8" need to uncommented, but also "en_US.ISO-8859-1" and "ja_JP.EUC-JP".
Running "sudo locale-gen" then returned:
Generating locales...
en_US.UTF-8... done
en_US.ISO-8859-1... done
ja_JP.EUC-JP... done
ja_JP.UTF-8... done
Generation complete.
As expected. Oddly enough, the output of "locale" has not changed at all, but now japanese fonts show up correctly in shell and terminals, even without a reboot!

1. Copy the following font files from $FND_TOP/resource to the /lib/fonts directory (under OA_JRE_TOP).
ALBANYWT.ttf - "single-byte" characters only
ALBANWTJ.ttf - Unicode font with Japanese Han Ideographs
ALBANWTK.ttf - Unicode font with Korean Han Ideographs
ALBANWTS.ttf - Unicode font with Simplified Chinese Han Ideographs
ALBANWTT.ttf - Unicode font with Traditional Chinese Han Ideographs
2. Restart the Apache.

Finally, my problem is my application does not display non english chracaters like "� ş � ğ � i" in GUI after triggering translation.However, if i do not use ResourceBundle and instead assign directly the turkish match for that label (i.e. label.setText("şşşşş")), GUI successfully displays turkish characters. what may be the problem? which encoding set does not conform?
ps : i am using redhat linux8.0, j2sdk1.4.1. current locale = "tr_TR.UTF-8". in /etc/sysconfig/keyboard , keyTable = "trq". There seems no problem for me as i can input and output
turkish characters. OS supports this. Also jvm gets the current encoding from OS.It seems as if there is a problem in reading properties file in inappropriate encoding.

I would suspect it would work in vim only if vim supported the UTF8 character set. I have no idea if it does.
Here is one blurb I found on google:
USING UNICODE IN THE GUI
The nice thing about Unicode is that other encodings can be converted to it
and back without losing information. When you make Vim use Unicode
internally, you will be able to edit files in any encoding.
Unfortunately, the number of systems supporting Unicode is still limited.
Thus it's unlikely that your language uses it. You need to tell Vim you want
to use Unicode, and how to handle interfacing with the rest of the system.
Let's start with the GUI version of Vim, which is able to display Unicode
characters. This should work:
     :set encoding=utf-8
     :set guifont=-misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--18-120-100-100-c-90-iso10646-1
The 'encoding' option tells Vim the encoding of the characters that you use.
This applies to the text in buffers (files you are editing), registers, Vim

Cannot view Japanese font inside flash player.

For example, on http://lyric.kget.jp/lyric/kq/qu/ , I cannot view the lyrics of the song inside the Adobe flash player, and all I see are just random symbols and letters. Is there any way to fix this? (I have just reinstalled the latest version of the Adobe flash player and it does not fix the problem.)

awn, i had the same problem and i just learned how to solve it:
go to "Control Panel" -> select "Region & Language" -> select "Change display language" -> choose "Administrative" tab -> you should see the button "Change system locale...", just click and change to "Japanese (Japan).
it works for me so i hope it'll work for u too

[SOLVED] Browser cannot display the full character set

Characters from some languages like persian, vietnames, japanese, chinese are not displayed in my browsers (I have chromium and firefox installed). The browser just displays little squares. However I don't think it is a problem with the browser but the x installation. I think I have all basic fonts installed.

Displaying Japanese Fonts on Report Builder 10g in PDF format.

Hi,
In one of my Report .I am using Japanese characters.All the contents are static data. If I run from Report builder it gives me perfect result and If I am trying to get output in PDF format from Report builder, I all the Japanese characters changed to some different fonts characters. Same problem with Report Server.

Try using the 'PDF Subsetting' feature.Go through the Chapter-Using PDF in Oracle Reports in "Oracle Application Server Reports Services Publishing Reports to the Web" - http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/reports.html.
