Cannot drop user
Hi,
I am trying to drop a nuser in my database (it owns no objects). But my "drop user....;" command just hangs. Any ideas on what might be wrong. My database version is 9.2.0.5 on Solaris 9. I see no error messages in alert log, nor is there any trace file generated.
please help
I get the following:

Try note 236898.1. It is for 8 and 9 but may work for you. The symptoms seem similar.
Or note 203225.1.
I had the same problem (oracle 9.2.0.5 on Windows 2003).
The table was visible in TOAD under the tables tab.

I used note 236898.1 to drop this queue table. (read the statements carefully because the names of the functions can be confused with each other: corr_aq_92.drop_corrupted_ qt 92(..) and corr_aq_92.drop_corrupted_ q 92(..)
For me, this is the solution. -
Hi,
I had this issue before, but forgot the command that should be used to flush some kind of a trash bin.
Can someone assist me?

4)In our scenario user is no more connected.
5) Now when we run below this statement from application oracle gives an error”CANNOT DROP THE USER THAT IS CURRENTLY CONNECTED”

Which user are you trying to drop? Yourself?
Again, please post the complete command.

Faheem LatifMy advice is you either provide sufficient detail, including all commands, and stop relying on crystal balls and fortunetellers.
No one here was looking over your shoulder, so no one can tell what happened, without you providing sufficient clues. I agree with you this is cumbersome, and doesn't comply with your custom to dump everything here, not doing any research yourself.

I am having TOAD. In that i see the user cnos but list the user in command prompt means using 'select owner from dba_segments' i didnt get the user. please help me.user11272074 wrote:

S cnos user exists in dba_users view. how can i delete it?You cannot "DELETE" a user. You can only "DROP" the user.
Did you go through the metalink reference posted above? -
Versions are Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 and SQL Developer 4.0.0.12 on Windows 7 Ultimate SP1.
Hi
I'm following the CBT Nuggets SQL Fundementals training (video #11) and cannot drop a table I have just created. The command executed and error are:
drop table newprods;
Error starting at line : 1 in command -
drop table newprods
Error report -
SQL Error: ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-20000: Cannot drop object
ORA-06512: at line 2
00604. 00000 - "error occurred at recursive SQL level %s"
*Cause: An error occurred while processing a recursive SQL statement
(a statement applying to internal dictionary tables).
*Action: If the situation described in the next error on the stack
can be corrected, do so; otherwise contact Oracle Support.
As the HR user I created two tables and created a FK constraint between them. After truncating the table with this FK, I am unable to drop it. Even if I remove the FK, the error is the same. Issing the command in SQL*Plus gives the same error.
This is the first time I have created any tables since installing Oracle on this machine and is my first attempt at dropping a table. I have not created any sequences, triggers or views based on these newly created tables.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Yes - as the exception says user 'system' does NOT have sufficient privileges to drop a PDB.
That grant of sysdba is ONLY for the current container which is the root.
Oracle 12c is NOT Oracle 11g - the multitenant architecture has SIGNIFICANT differences from previous versions in MANY areas especially in creating/managing users and granting privileges.
The default container for grants is whatever the current container is. If you want the grant to cover ALL containers then you need to specify that.
See the CONTAINER clause for the GRANT statement in the docs
GRANT
CONTAINER Clause
If the current container is a pluggable database (PDB):
Specify CONTAINER = CURRENT to locally grant a system privilege, object privilege, or role to a user or role. The privilege or role is granted to the user or role only in the current PDB.
If the current container is the root:
Specify CONTAINER = CURRENTto locally grant a system privilege, object privilege, or role to a common user or common role. The privilege or role is granted to the user or role only in the root.
Specify CONTAINER = ALL to commonly grant a system privilege, object privilege on a common object, or role, to a common user or common role.
If you omit this clause, then CONTAINER = CURRENT is the default.
See that last statement? -
Cannot drop queue objects - invalid username/password
Folks - I'm having an issue where I cannot drop the user that owns my AQ/streams objects from an 11g database.
SYS@bwapepd1> drop user streams cascade;
drop user streams cascade
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-24008: queue table STREAMS.LB_SUBS_SOURCE_QT must be dropped first
So then I try to drop the queue -
SYS@bwapepd1> execute dbms_aqadm.drop_queue('STREAMS.LB_SUBS_SOURCE_Q');
BEGIN dbms_aqadm.drop_queue('STREAMS.LB_SUBS_SOURCE_Q'); END;

ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_AQADM", line 167
ORA-06512: at line 1
So, next I tried to drop the queue table with a force -
SYS@bwapepd1> BEGIN
dbms_aqadm.drop_queue_table(
queue_table => 'STREAMS.LB_SUBS_SOURCE_QT',
force => TRUE);
END;

ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_AQADM", line 197
ORA-06512: at line 2
I've tried as both SYS and the STREAMS owner and both get the same invalid username/password error.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thx!
rbThere is insufficient information here to help you but my recommendation would be:
1. Stop the queue
2. Drop the queue
3. Drop the queue table
4. Drop the user with cascade
If you are getting an insufficient privs message when logged on as SYS then you need to make sure that you are where you think you are: You are not. Perhaps you have a remote connection, for example.
PS: Is this Windows and are you using the joke that is remote desktop? That is one example of not being where you think you are. -
Cannot drop pictures into video effects window (not the usual problem)
Hi there,
I cannot drop jpgs into the video effects window. I checked http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5700460 and http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7384222 and they got me going, but my issue is slightly different.
The plus sign appears when I click and drag the picture out of finder and into one of the open windows in video effects user backdrop window. When I release the mouse button, nothing is dragged to the location. I have tried different picture locations, moved them to the desktop first, and different picture locations, but no luck.
Any ideas? I’ll run disk perms in the meantime in case it is something goofy, but if anyone has any ideas I’d be grateful. Just got my first Mac two days ago and love it so farHi,
Did the Pic file come from another computer ?
Manually navigate to the Pic.
Highlight it and do a "Get Info" (Apple Key and I together)
DO you Own it and have Read and Write Access (near the bottom when you expand the various tabs).
Make sure you are the Owner and have Read and Write access.

Cannot drop orphaned account on my SQL 2012 Server
Hi all,
I have a terrible issue that I am not able to solve by myself. I have made a lot of research on internet but I still not found a valid solution for the problem.
All is happened when a server crashed some weeks ago and it was removed from my network.
After that, under my SQL Server 2012 I get an orphaned account which cannot be removed. This account is a computer account related to an old SCOM installation.
If I try to execute the command DROP USER [NETWORK\SERVERNAME$] I get the following error message:
The database principal has granted or denied permissions to objects in the database and cannot be dropped.
Msg 15284, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The database principal has granted or denied permissions to objects in the database and cannot be dropped.
But if I run the following command to know all permission granted to the account, I get an empty result:
select * from sys.database_permissions where grantee_principal_id = user_id ('Network\SERVERNAME$');
Furthermore, following the instructions provided by the official KB for troubleshooting orphaned users, I get another error (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/274188/en-us).
sp_change_users_login 'update_one', 'Network\SERVERNAME$', 'Network\SERVERNAME$'
Msg 15291, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_change_users_login, Line 114
Terminating this procedure. The User name 'Network\SERVERNAME$' is absent or invalid.
The only thing I can retrieve is 15 permissions that this account granted to another account in the past:
select *
from sys.database_permissions
where grantor_principal_id = user_id ('Network\SERVERNAME$'
class class_desc
major_id
minor_id grantee_principal_id grantor_principal_id type permission_name
state state_desc
17 SERVICE
65538 0
5
19
SN SEND
G
GRANT
And more 14 similar rows…
Anyone can help me to resolve my issue and safe delete the account SERVERNAME$? I need this because I have to reinstall SCOM with the same computer name on another server, but installation fails due to this behavior.
Thanks to all in advance.
MarcoDECLARE @service_name sysname,
@username sysname
SELECT @service_name = name FROM sys.services WHERE service_id = 65538
SELECT @username = name FROM sys.database_principals WHERE principal_id = 5
DECLARE @sql nvarchar(MAX) = 'REVOKE SEND ON SERVICE:: ' +
quotename(@service_name) + ' FROM ' + quotename(@username)
PRINT @sql
EXEC(@sql) AS 'Network\SERVERNAME$'
In case you did not get it, the issue is not that the account has been granted permssions, the issue is the account itself has granted permissions.
Since the SEND permission may actually be needed for @username, it's a good idea to look at the command and re-grant the permission, but now as dbo.
If you have more of them, Sebastian Meines script to get commands for database permissions is really nice. You would need to add a filter for grantor_principal_id.

Newbie to SJSC : Cannot drop component onto page NoClassDefFoundError
Hello,
I recently downloaded and installed Sun Java Studio Creator 2 (SJSC) and was trying the tutorial to get myself familiarized with it.
I cannot drop any JSF (not even standard or basic) onto the page1 JSP, i get this error:

I have read the forum extensively but cannot find any helpful topics so i decided to post.
I really appreciate your time for reading this far, if you have any ideas, please llet me know.
Thank you very much!!!!
Federico VelaSandeep,
Thank you for your reply.
Although it did not fix the issue, reinstalling to c:/sun/creator did change the error!
I get the big ugly red bar in the design view that says there are errors on the page.
Now the problem is an undefined symbol on the inheritance of the page

If i scroll up to the import statement
import com.sun.rave.web.ui.appbase.AbstractPageBean;***package com.sun.rave.web.ui.appbase does not exist*****
furthermore, if i try to compile i get the following error

1, shutdown immediate
2, startup
3 drop user *** cascadeWhy the user is still connected?Just to cause you confusion, grief, & frustration.
