Cannot get e-mail
Yesterday all my e-mail accounts connected to my iPhone5 were working fine. Today I am receiving the "Cannot Get Mail, the connection to the server failed". I tried re-setting my wifi connection but that didn't help. Any suggestions? (I also cannot retrieve e-mail from my iTouch which also was working fine yesterday)
MSN has been having Hotmail problems for a couple days. I can access it through the MSN mobile browser and signing into Hotmail, but the MAIL button gives me the server error as well. I've tried deleting and reestablishing. I am hoping the problem will remedy when MSN gets their issues resolved. See the status update here. https://status.live.com/detail/hotmail

I recently put on a PowerPoint presentation at DU, in Denver Colorado; signed on as DU guest to access Internet link. SInce then I haven't been able to get e-mail on my Iphone - Cannot Get Mail, Server Stopped Responding. I tried all previous suggestions, such as rebooting phone, updating software etc. I went to MacBook Pro and tried logging on to yahoo e-mail. Apparently there was a security risk to my e-mail account so Yahoo locked up my account. I reset my password, it was verified through text message, and Voila it worked. Don't forget you also have to change this on your Iphone: go into settings; Mail, Contacts, Calendars; click on your e-mail browser, then account and enter your new password, click done and it will verify on you phone as well. I cannot get yahoo mail nor send email on iPad 3. I have OS 6 just upgraded. It keeps on asking for password. I think my yahoo email was also hacked to compound the problem. Please help.I get this warning now To. Never saw it in last 5 years and 4 iPhones. Cannot get yahoo small biz email access anymore via iPhone on safari web login because of this same warning. Typically , either yahoo or apple screwed up and changed something that effects millions and think nothing of it. (battery gate in all the iPhone 4/4s comes to mind here)
As you can tell I "used" to be an apple fan but after this iPhone 4s dies (prematureally of course) I will be getting my first android phone and see flash and the rest of the hidden Internet that apple kept from myself the paying customer. -

Your mail is housed on the mail server. The device attempts to update, and because you are not connected to the internet, you cannot access it. You need an active data connection to deal with mail.

Have latest version of iTunes installed and running. Also make sure you have internet access working and can access Apple websites. Also, make sure you don't have any entries in your hosts file referring to gs.apple.com....If your not sure about how to do that, go ahead and do the rest first. You can come back to that later.....Plug in phone. Put phone in DFU mode.(google put iphone in DFU mode for instructions) Then restore the phone in iTunes by highliting your device in the left column and click on the Restore button. The latest iOS version is 4.3.3. That's what iTunes will restore it to. When it's done restoring, iTunes will ask if you want to restore from a backup or setup as a new phone. I would use the Setup as a New Phone option. Once it's done, you should have a clean install of the iOS and an operating phone, as long as there are no hardware issues with it.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like you dont receive email from one account on one device. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.
Get help with Mail on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
Log in to your email provider's website to make sure that the account is active and the password is correct.
Make sure your settings are correct using Mail Settings Lookup.
Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap the affected email account.
Tap Delete Account.
Add your account again.

randers 4 - I hope you can help me as I have been advised by Demo that you are very knowledgeable about iCloud.
I have had a similar problem to mhurley16 although with more prior issues too. My iCloud email and BT Yahoo email accounts stopped working on my ipad when at home about 2 weeks ago but when I visited my local Apple Store and used friends/family wi fi, they both work fine and my BT email is also fine on my PC. I have spent many, many hours trying to fix this problem as I use my ipad to check emails every day and therefore find this whole issue very frustrating to say the least! I have deleted and then added both email accounts to no avail - still fine on other wi fis - and today I noticed that the password in my iCloud account is shorter than the new one I set up a few weeks ago. I therefore deleted and then added again my iCloud email using my new password and all details were verified successfully, but when I checked my iCloud details again, it is showing the shorter one again. I also logged in to My Apple ID account and used my new password successfully so cannot understand why my iCloud password is not using the same one as I thought they were automatically linked via My Apple ID. I am now left wondering why these passwords are not the same, and whether this issue is the root cause of the problem of "cannot get mail" on my ipad? I cannot get my mail on my iCloud account. What is going on?

I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:

I cannot open my mail any longer. I cannot get my mail at all.
I have 2 accounts set up on Thunderbird. The second account, the one I use for work, [email protected] is no longer working. I can still get my mail through the outlook web app but I always only use thunderbird and have all of my folders and everything there. The other day, my password expired and I updated all that through the outlook web app. However, I have not been able to get my mail back on Thunderbird. Next to the account name on the left hand side there is a lock on the side and there is no longer a drop down arrow at all. I cannot even double click on it or anything. Nothing happens and I can no longer get emails.
When I open Thunderbird I get an error "The current operation on Inbox did not succeed. The mail server [email protected] responded. User is authenticated but not connected"
