Cannot get Submit button to work
I am really stumped with this one. The Submit to Manager button is not working. The only error I get is that assocID is not identified, but as far as I can tell it is identified.
Any help would be appreciated.

I think the variable names may be causing a problem. I commented out the variable names, and it worked correctly, except for name. I had to change it to empName instead. Then that one worked. There's a good bit of overlap between your variable names and object names. (e.g., var assocID = assocID.rawValue) That was causing problems, too.
Here's what I ended up doing to make the alerts/email work:

In DPS tips, using the iPad app, some of the navigational buttons appear like SWF buttons, but, I cannot get SWF buttons to work in DPS. I have been trying with Multi-States, but, cannot get that to work either. Can you tell me how to get a SWF like button to work in DPS - I'm working with ID 6.0.
Do you have an eaasy answer? Is there a tutorial out there I can view? Is their a step-by-step I can read?

First, let me say "I cannot even believe all the wonderful information I have recieved from my original post," and, I want to thank you for your understanding.
I have been a designer for many years, working before the computer, and, since the mid 80's working with a variety of software to produce both print and web projects. I must say, I am biased on the Adobe Creative Suite, and, have had amazing success with these tools.
Nonetheless, I have been working with DPS for about a month now (and a month does not make a career), and, have to admit, I am looking at DSP as a Hybrid between Print and Web. Yet, it is neither print or wed, it is it's own element, and, I'm just having growing pains learning, especially the terminology.
Yes, I am trying to explain SWF Buttons, when in reality, it is DPS Buttons, and, my thinking is based on print and web. Now, it is - in some ways - like going back to school learning DPS and DSP terminology. It is a bit frustrating, but, I know I will get it.
Now that I have looked at my first MSO test, I followed the instructions in DPS Tips, I realize that the Button is in the "Normal State" as I (interact, this is my terminology) touch or hover to make the button work. It is in the "Click" state that the Button triggers the MSO to work, and, I finally get that now - okay, I'm slow to learn. And, I will be building a complex MSO to prove the point to myself.
I was wondering, besides DPS Tips, are there any books, apps, specific sites that are very specific on "ALL" the things one can do with DSP?

Getting submit button to work online in Adobe Reader
We've been having problems getting the Submit button to function in an Adobe form we use online. I searched this forum and others but came up with no solution other than instructing the user to download the form and open it locally in Reader then fill it out and submit. This seemed counter intuitive so we called Adobe and got the following bit of info that worked like a charm so we thought we'd share it with others who may be experiencing the same problem.
In Adobe Acrobat Professional
Go to “Advanced” in the menu
Select “Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader...”
When you do this it prompts you to save it. Once this is enabled you can't edit the document any further so you may want to save it as a new name and upload it to the web and the submit button should then work in the browser.I can't read the form on this machine (meaning it is not backward compatible to this version). However, the typical problem is that you are trying to have a full form submitted. Simply change to the FDF or XML data which can be imported to the form. There are restrictions on the saving that is needed for the full form and also there may be problems with using e-mail -- e-mail depends on the client machine setup in many cases and will fail.
Follow up:
I looked at the submit button. There are two aspects that are issues, one that is probably the problem you are having.
1. You use e-mail submission. This may cause problems for some folks due to their system not being setup for MAPI or related automated mailto: operation. That is likely not your problem, but can be an issue.
2. You have selected to submit the entire PDF. Change that to a FDF submission for now and it will probably work fine. Depending on your version of Acrobat you can fine a menu item listed as Form Data with the option to import data. That is all you need to get the data back in the same form as in the PDF that was completed. You will have to open the form and then import the data, unless the form has not moved and the FDF file still has the file path information to open the data in the file automatically.
3. To enable the full form, you run into issues with the license agreement if it is be used by more than 500 folks. It may be an issue for a company as large as your's. In that case, use the form data. If you can insure that there will be no more than 500 folks using the form (see Sec 15 of the EULA), you can enable Reader Rights (need AA8 or AA9). I would suggest you are better off not enabling the form in your work place, but having the data submitted. The user can print the form (and markup) for their records. -

The form was created in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI. It was saved Protected to Restrict Editing. The submit button was formatted with URL mailto:[email protected] and Export format PDF the complete document. Once posted onto our website when you click on the submit button nothing happens. -

If you have access to another keyboard, you could see if the issue is really in that,
or if the problem could have some other cause... Even a PC keyboard may help
to troubleshoot this one aspect. I try to always have a spare USB keyboard/mouse.
Not sure if you could re-assign other keys, such as the F_ keys across the top, to
have a different one for the @ symbol. There is a code for each one of those items
and you could use it, or have a text document handy to copy-paste that one item.
And if you have an antique iMac, or a newer intel-based one, they have different
operating systems; and troubleshooting may take on different dimensions, too.
So advice and results may vary depending on hardware & software in use.

Help please--cannot get summary button to work???!!!!

I am trying to get a summary of results on a survey, and I did have a portion of it working, but needed to add more code to complete it.
When I hit the display summary button--nothing happens. There is a problem with my logic, but no logic errors come up. I must have created an infinite loop.

I did invoke the method with a handler. Maybe I should have given you the entire code that I have in the first place.
The first part of the code, and the other method seems to be working, so I was focusing on where the problem is.
By the way- tried the system.out.printli, but since nothing happens when I click the summary button, I cannot even get any values to print in the command prompt.

No doubt it is something really obvious that I'm missing, but I cannot get iTunes Dj to work. If I click on iTunes DJ in the left column, right section of the window says "iTunes DJ" and explains that I can make a continuous mix, but there is no list of music. The play button is greyed out.
The help file says "To select a specific playlist (instead of your library) for the live mix, choose an option from the Source pop-up menu at the bottom of the iTunes window."

Any ideas?Do you see the grey bar at the bottom of the screen when you select iTunes DJ, the one with the Settings and Refresh button, as seen in the picture on this web page? If not, then the bottom of the window may just be off the screen on your system so you don't see the Source selector. If that does seem to be the problem, try changing the resolution of your Mac's screen (Displays system preference) to the highest resolution. If it already is, try changing it to a lower resolution, then back. That may get the iTunes window to reappear..
If not, open the Script Editor application, paste in the following text (up to and including the line that says "end tell") and click the "Run" button:

I cannot get Copy & Paste to work in iOS 5
I cannot get Copy & Paste to work on my iPhone or my iPad since updating to iOS 5.1
I can copy and paste within an app, buy copying from one app, then going into another, Paste is not available.
Anyone one else having this isuue? I have tried rebooting both devices but no change.I just checked this out by opening a doc in PlainText and copying some sameple text that I typed. I hit enter a couple of times, pressed on the screen, the paste button appeared and I was able to paste no problem.
I then opened a fresh document in Pages and pressed on the screen to open the paset button and got the text to paste into the Pages doc with no problem.
You may have a glitch in your iOS 5.1 update. You might try doing a reset all settings reset and set the phone as a new one (You should not lose any data, or media) You will need to go in and reset any changes you may have made in settings as this set all of them back to factory defaults but your music, pictures, data, email accounts etc. will not be erased.
If this doesn't work you may need to reinstall the iOS again.I think you can do this through iTunes but am not 100% sure. You may need to take it to your local genius bar (Hope you have one close to your house) and ask them to reinstall the OS for you. -

Have latest version of iTunes installed and running. Also make sure you have internet access working and can access Apple websites. Also, make sure you don't have any entries in your hosts file referring to gs.apple.com....If your not sure about how to do that, go ahead and do the rest first. You can come back to that later.....Plug in phone. Put phone in DFU mode.(google put iphone in DFU mode for instructions) Then restore the phone in iTunes by highliting your device in the left column and click on the Restore button. The latest iOS version is 4.3.3. That's what iTunes will restore it to. When it's done restoring, iTunes will ask if you want to restore from a backup or setup as a new phone. I would use the Setup as a New Phone option. Once it's done, you should have a clean install of the iOS and an operating phone, as long as there are no hardware issues with it.

You can go to the Apple online store and purcahse a copy of Mountain Lion. This will give you a redemption code, which you can use to download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Unfortuantely, I'm not aware of any other way to legally purchase it. I have never seen Apple release Muontain Lion on DVD.
In terms of Apple Service, they just need the serial number of the machine to check the purcahse date. It is usually correct, to within a few weeks. A quick Google search should give you the correct number to dial.

I would delete the account and try to re-enter it. Also, you have to let your firm's IT department know that you want to sync work email on your personal devices before they actually work.

It seems like I cannot get GPS only to work on my ipad3 (4g version, but not on an active cell plan, and wifi off). Is there some new requirement in 7.1 or 7.1.1 to have cell and/or wifi enabled for GPS to work? I am testing with MotionX, garmin blueChart mobile, and a GPS monitoring tool. All show no signal. If I turn on cell and wifi, it says I get gps signal, but can't tell if that is from the GPS chip, or just from cell and wifi only (maybe with some gps mixed in)? Any ideas on how to get iPad working with GPS only??

Yes. tried the one ram stick, no go. I have been trying to boot off/install the windows 7 disk but am unable to get to the point where windows starts installing after its gathering information portion of the install. I can get to the disk selection screen of the install with the WD HD on SATA port 2 but then get the "cant install messages" when I try to select the Vertex 3. Yes I can see the Vertex 3 Drive as well as the WD drive at this point. some times I have to hit "scan" a couple of times. -

Then I plug the other cable from the back of the airport into my G5. Then plug in the power cord. I get lots of flashing lights - "thinkin & blinkin", but then I get a message that it cannot locate the server. Even rebooted. I've been waiting for the IT guy to call/email me back me back but no response yet. I'm guessing I may just need a new location, but I'm not wired to think IT-like (I'm a very right brained graphic designer), I I don't want to screw anything up.
Do I need to just go through a new internet setup?
