Cannot get Universe column in the sql server ?

Hi,
I able to get some of columns using below query , but I cannot get some of the columns from universe to SQL Server.
If I try through SSIS also the columns are missing which are unable to get using openquery.
If I add "Microsoft ODBC Data Source (ODBC)" for Universe U2 also then some of the columns are missing .
For Example : Unable to get "Description" Column.
How can I check what is the problem  ? Please help me on this..
select * FROM OPENQUERY(ulive, 'select Description
FROM TABLENAME WHERE Z_ID=''020324.doc''')
Msg 7321, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
An error occurred while preparing the query for execution against OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "ulive".
Thank you..

What is Universe U2  server? Is it SQL Server or Oracle or perhaps MySQL?
select Description FROM ULIVE.DBNAME.DBO.TABLENAME WHERE Z_ID='020324.doc'

  • Cannot enter correct values in the SQL server express 2012 using labview

    Hi everyone,
    I am trying to enter the 2D array I get from DAQ into the SQL server express 2012 using Labview. When I am run the software, it connects with the table but doesn't enter the correct values. It only enters the "0" for each column of the table. I have attached the VI as well as the screenshot from the database server.
    I am also writing the same 2D array data into the text file and I get the correct readins there.
    Is there something I am doing wrong here.

    If you had read the QL manuals or reference books, you would be aware SQL Server doesn't do multidimensional arrays.
    I prefer BLOBs or VARCHAR(MAXCHAR) as an alternative. I enter the values in formatted string values delimiter separated.
    But how to deal with multidimensional arrays. Well up to 3-5 you can use simple value for each "dimension". So the lowest dimension
    would be comma delimit. The next set of values and each succeeding set for each 2nd dimension values would have the "set" of values separated
    by a ":" or semicolon. For the third I use the ":" or colon to separate each 2D block of the 3rd dimension. This can all be easily reparsed
    with a multidimensional parser for the application. Should be simple to build. (e.g.. Use string arrays to parse the higher dimensions
    and numeric array for the lowest dimension). The VARCHAR(MAXCHAR) has an upper data bound of 2GB! If you have to save more
    than 3 dimensions for most all applications, you don't understand how best to analyze the test data and may want to give it more
    thought to optimize the operation as well as the design, so it doesn't get too complex. By the way I use Data Clusters built in the
    data order and type as for SQL Server Data Table. This makes the design of the SQL Server interface easy as pie .

    Hello,
    Please try deleting the following sub folder to see if this will work:
      C:\users\(my profile)\AppData\Local\Microsoft_Corporation
    If you can't see AppData folder, you could use following steps to show hidden files:
     1. Open an explorer window, hit "ALT-T" choose Folder Options then go to the view tab.
     2. Turn on Show hidden files, folders or drives and
    disable Hide protected Operating System files (recommended).

  • [Forum FAQ] The Reporting Server cannot be reinstalled on a same SQL Server Reporting Service instance

    Symptom: Sometimes, when you want to reinstall the Reporting Server Role for Operation Manager 2012,
    but you may encounter an issue that the Reporting Server Role cannot be reinstalled after you successfully uninstall it. When you check the System Center Operation Manager installation log, you can find the following error as shown in Figure 1.
    Figure 1: Reporting Server Role cannot be reinstalled
    It seems that the SQL Server Reporting Service has not been configured properly. When you open Reporting Services Configuration Manager to check the settings, the settings seem fine though.
    Even you recreate Reporting Service Database, the error remains.
    After reviewing the OpsMgrSetupWizard.log, we get the following errors when wizard try to connect to SQL Server Reporting Instance (Figure 2).
    [07:24:05]:    Error:  :CheckHttpAddressResponse failed: Threw Exception.Type: System.Net.WebException, Exception Error Code: 0x80131509, Exception.Message:
    The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.
    [07:24:05]:    Error:  :StackTrace:   at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.OperationsManager.Setup.ReportingComponent.CheckHttpResponseFromSRSUrl(String
    httpSite)
    Figure 2: Error Log -1
    It indicates the Reporting Service encounters an internal error. The Website cannot handle the request. So you may check the Reporting Service log which is located in C:\Users\Administrator.SCOM2012\AppData\Local\SCOM\LOGS
    and the following errors may be found (Figure 3).
    library!ReportServer_0-18!1448!03/30/2014-02:53:23:: e ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException:
    Unable to load assembly Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Reporting.Security, Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException: The report server has encountered a configuration error.  ---> System.IO.FileNotFoundException:
    Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Reporting.Security' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
    File name: 'Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Reporting.Security'
    Figure 3: Error Log -2
    Reason: After the Reporting Server is installed on a SSRS instance, the Reporting Server of SCOM
    needs to modify the web.config and rsreportserver.config  file to add its own assembly to make the Reporting Server work. But it does not change it back when Reporting Server is uninstalled. So the assembly cannot be loaded and the SSRS cannot respond
    our requests.
    Resolution:  When the Reporting Server is installed, the old web.config and rsreportsserver.config
    files will be backed up to web.config1 and rsreportsserver.config1. So you just need to change the files’ name back, then try to install Reporting Server of SCOM again. Everything would go smoothly.

    Hi AakashGhare,
    According to your error message, SQL Server 2008 databases are version 655. SQL Server 2008 R2 databases are 661. When you are trying to attach an 2008 R2 database (v. 661) to an 2008 instance and this is not supported. As other post, once the database has
    been upgraded to an 2008 R2 version, it cannot be downgraded. You'll have to either upgrade your 2008 SP2 instance to R2, or you have to copy out the data in that database into an 2008 database (such as using the data migration wizard).
    In addition, if you want to use a Windows Batch file code and command to automatically login to SQL Server, detach database and attach a new one database, there is a similar details about batch code for attaching database to a new database, you can refer
    to this article.

    Thanks for the link to the Reporting Services forum.  I found the fix in this thread:
    https://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=3644545&SiteID=1
    I had to create a registry key and reboot:
    1.
    Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
    2.
    Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
    3.
    In the right pane, locate the ServicesPipeTimeout entry.
    Note If the ServicesPipeTimeout entry does not exist, you must create it. To do this, follow these steps:
    a.
    On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
    b.
    Type ServicesPipeTimeout, and then press ENTER.
    4.
    Right-click ServicesPipeTimeout, and then click Modify.
    5.
    Click Decimal, type 60000, and then click OK.
    This value represents the time in milliseconds before a service times out.
    6.
    Restart the computer.
    After the reboot, the service was running.  Thanks for your help with this.

  • CLR to get the SQL Server Data into .CSV File

    Hi,
    I transformed 10 columns 1000 rows from the source table to 1 column 1000 rows in the destination table by making the comma separated columns ( Just like ..
    Insert into DestinationTable
    SELECT col1+','+col2 ....
    FROM SourceTable
    Then I want to take this column into CSV file.
    I dont have the rights to command shell.
    I heard that we may use CLR procedure for this. Can someone throw light?

    using System;
    using System.IOM
    using System.Data;
    using System.Data.SqlClient;
    using System.Data.SqlTypes;
    using Microsoft.SqlServer.Server;
    public class ExportFileClass {
    [Microsoft.SqlServer.Server.SqlProcedure]
    public static void export_file()
    using (SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection(
    "context connection=true"))
    connection.Open();
    // Operation to open file goes here.
    SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand("SELECT col FROM YourTable");
    // Consume result set and write rows.
    Build this from the command line:
    sn -k keypair.snk
    csc /target:library /keyfile:keypair.snk exportfile.cs
    Then run in SQL Server (assuming that the files are in C:\temp on the SQL
    Server machine:
    [sql]
    USE master
    go
    -- To be able to create an external-access assembly, we need to load
    -- the key, the assembly is signed with. The key needs a password, but we
    -- don't need to know the password.
    DECLARE @sql nvarchar(MAX),
            @password char(40)
    SELECT @password = convert(char(36), newid()) + 'Ab4?'
    SELECT @sql = 'CREATE ASYMMETRIC KEY slog_loopback FROM FILE = ' +
                  '''C:\temp\keypair.snk'' ' +
                  'ENCRYPTION BY PASSWORD = ''' + @password + ''''
    PRINT @sql
    EXEC(@sql)
    -- And then a login to carry the permission.
    CREATE LOGIN exportfile$asymkey FROM ASYMMETRIC KEY ExportFile
    GRANT EXTERNAL ACCESS ASSEMBLY TO exportfile$asymkey
    go
    -- Now we can go back to our regular database and create the assembly.
    USE youddatabase
    go
    CREATE ASSEMBLY ExportFile FROM 'C:\temp\exportfile.dll'
    WITH PERMISSION_SET = EXTERNAL_ACCESS
    go
    CREATE PROCEDURE ExportFile AS
    EXTERNAL NAME ExportFile.ExportFileClass.export_file
    [sql]
    It is likely that you will have to do ask your DBA to do things in the
    master database.

    Trying to install a new version of SQL 2014 Std 64 or x86. Installing on Windows 8.1Pro 64bit machine.

    It's often only a problem of the service dependencies. SCVMM starts to fast, SQL server on the same machine in not initialized yet. Here are working service dependencies to ensure SQL server is initializes before SCVMM starts.
    You can set the service dependencies directly in regedit (as always: be careful modifying the registry ...)
    Here is the content of a reg file setting the dependency.

  • Error loading data into Essbase from the SQL Server

    Hello experts!
    I've got another urgent and confusing issue. I am loading data from an SQL Server view into Essbase (which is reversed with multiple data columns) using ODI 11.1.1.5 and I get the following error at +"3-Loading -SrcSet0-Load Data"+ step:
    ODI-1227: Task SrcSet0 (Loading) fails on the source MICROSOFT_SQL_SERVER connection.

    Please help me with any hints! Thank you so much!

    John, thank you so much!
    Your answer is exactly correct!
    "View" is an object name in SQL Server so this word cannot be used as a column name in SQL Server tables. Once the name of the colunm changed from "View" to another, the interface runs without errors!

    Hi,
    What is your SharePoint server’s version?
    Please make sure you use the farm admin account to launch SharePoint configuration wizard. If not, please log in with this account, then check the effect.
    In addition, check if you create a named instance, such as, servername\sharepoint, however, you only specify the servername in the configuration wizard. If this is
    the case, change to servername\sharepoint, then check the effect.

  • How come the SQL Server Business Intelligence Studio will not recognize my AdventureWorksDW after installation?

    I am trying to do the tutorial for SQL Server Business Intelligence Studio, but I can't get the AdventureWorksDW to be recognized by it, when I try to connect to it.
    I have tried to shut down, restart, downloaded a couple of different versions of AdventureWorksDW (I believe 2008 is the one I need), and tried to attach this AdventureWorksDW using SQL Server Management Studio 2008R2, but I cannot even do that! The instructions
    for attaching a DB tell me to open Management Studio, then open a connection instance.  But then I cannot find the database button to right click on, or the attach item in the menu that is supposed to be there with it.
    I had installed AdventureWorks2008R2 previously and the SQL Server BIDS sees that, but of course I cannot do the tutorial without some serious mods if I do that. I have rebooted computer, closed and reopened the BIDS app, deleted and re-created the
    OLE-DB connection in BIDS, but nothing works. What am I doing wrong? I've worked in mostly the Oracle world for most of my career so I'm not new to either DW or relational DB, but this one is driving me to pull my hair. Any help greatly appreciated!
