Cannot import addresses from old computer

I can't seem to import the Thunderbird addresses from my old computer to the new one. The import function simply stops. I waited for it several times, tried twice, gave up.

What are you trying to import from?
The import functions in Thunderbird are generally aimed at users switching from a different email program.
If you are moving Thunderbird from one computer to another, the best way is to copy its profile to the new computer.

  • Importing iTunes from Old Computer to a New One

I want to import my old iTunes (files, name changes, data etc) to a new computer. However, iTunes is having toruble locating the files (obviously, since now the music files are in a different folder in the new computer...there was no way for me to replicate the old computer's file configuration for the music since it was scattered. I consolidated all the music files into one folder, thereby changing the original file location). I tried adding all the files first, from the new file location. Then I chose to import the old iTunes library data file. It successfully updated all the file names and date added entries, etc. However, when I went to play a song, it said it cannot find the file location and I was given an option to browse and locate it. I was hoping if I do one or two, it would so an auto find and locate all of them since they are in one folder. But it never did it, I manually did a bunch of files and no luck.
Is there any formulated way to make an auto find happen?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Go to the top of this page, click "support", type "move itunes library windows" or something similar into the support search bar, and read the articles that result from that search.

  • Importing Library From Old Computer

Hello, I just got a new computer. I saved all my songs from my library to my iPod, with the hopes of keeping all my ratings and play counts, however, I forgot to deauthorize my old computer (I'm not even exactly sure what this means, but I remember reading something about it a few weeks ago, haha). So what do I have to do at this point to keep the exact same library I had from my old computer using just my iPod? I plugged in my iPod and it said I can only have one library or something like that so I didn't sync my iPod and my iTunes so everything should still be on my iPod. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi Katrina, i would like your advice on a similar situation. i believe i have several issues to resolve.
first off, i downloaded i-tunes over the weekend onto my new laptop. somewhere along the line, i received a message that i have reached my limit of 5 authorizations. i was confused as to which 5 until i read the discussion board this morning. the authorizations are at its limit because of several crashed systems over the years.
i would like to only have 2 authorizations - the new laptop and my desktop. is it possible to itemize (it appears the answer is no). if i have to utilize my 1 per year deauthorization option, will i have to setup the desktop and laptop again? can you shed some light on this for me please? thanks.
2nd, my intent and goal is to have itunes on both where i can sync playlists. i was only able to bring over my purchased items into the laptop but can not figure out how to import my playlists from my ipod into the laptop. am i only able to charge my ipod on the laptop and listen to purchased music?
any information you can provide will be most appreciated. jasmin

  • How can I import history from old computer

I have just bought a new computer and want to have the tab history from my old computer. How do I do this?

Yes, that location is not the Firefox profile folder, but the location of the template folder with the files to create a new new profile.
    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
    * "Application Data" in XP/Win2K and "AppData" in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders.

Go to: Control Panel > Folder Options > "View" tab > under "Hidden files and folders", select "Show hidden files and folders"<br />
To see the file extensions of all files uncheck the box "Hide extensions for known file types"
    * XP: C:\Documents and Settings\&lt;user&gt;\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\&lt;profile&gt;\

  • Cannot move library from old computer to new

    Hello,
I successfully got the new computer authorized and moved the purchased music into the library.
Using the help instructions i pasted the old library files into the new computer library (with the exception of the purchased files).
Only the purchased files show in the new library. All of the files appear in explorer, however, so I know they are there.
    What's up please?
    thanks
    Scott

Drag the remaining files into the open iTunes window; the iTunes database needs to contain an entry for them before they will show up.

  • Cannot transfer Library from old computer to new one.

We got a new computer, and tried to export the Library via 1g Flash drives, but all that got us was a list of the names of the songs. Then tried to copy the songs to the flash drives, and then copy them into the new computer's Itunes program, but the songs would not play, nor would they transfer to the Ipod. Please help.

  • I just downloaded OSX maverick and now I cannot drag addresses from my contacts to the "To" box when sending emails.  How can I go back to old drag groups or addresses to the box?

I just downloaded OSX Maverick and now I cannot drag addresses from my contacts to the "To" box when sending email.  How can I get back to dragging groups or individual contacts to emails?

Starting to type a name and getting a list of matches is good but it's not a substitute for being able to choose twenty or thirty names from your address book and dragging them into the "To" field. Of course many contacts can be put into a group but I may want to send occasional emails to many people who don't fit any group, and there may be no need to create a group just for that email.
If you agree please send an email to apple feedback for Maverick OS X.

  • Import contacts from old outlook 2013 to new Outlook 2013

I recently had to get a new computer.  I removed the boot drive from the old computer and installed it as drive F on the new computer. This worked great in recovering my large data files.  However, drive F contains an instance of Outlook 2013
as does drive C.  How do I copy to or import drive F's contact info to the new Outlook 2013 contacts?  I do not need the old email messages as I already have gotten them from the email service provider.

    Hi
As per the information and details provided by you, to import contacts from old Outlook 2013 to the new Outlook 2013 please follow these steps: -
Collect Files from the Old Computer
First, you need the PST from your old computer. In most cases, they will be in the default location Outlook uses. To quickly access the default PST location outside of
Outlook, paste this line in Windows Explorer’s address bar:
    %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
Copy the Files to the New Computer
Now, you will copy the PSTs to the new computer. If you have several PSTs in the folder and are not sure which one is the one with your data, look at the file dates and
file sizes. If you have 265KB PST files, they are empty and don’t need to be moved.
Paste the following line into the address bar.
    %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
In this folder you will have the NK2, SRS, XML, outlprnt, and VBA project files.
Open the AppData Roaming folder using the following command and copy the NK2 file to the folder.
    %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Outlook
    Create a Profile
After the PST file is on the local drive, type mail in the start search field on the
Start menu or go to Control Panel, Mail then opens the profile dialog. (If you use the
Category view, mail is under the Users group; in Win 64-bit, Mail is under 32-bit application.
    Click the Show Profile button.
Click Add to create a new profile.
Enter a descriptive name for your profile.
Enter the name you want to use for your display name, your email address, and your password.
Add Your Existing Data File (PST) to the Profile
If you have an Outlook data file PST, and you want to use with your new profile, then please follow these steps: -
Select the newly created profile, then click Properties.
Click Data files button to open Account Setting dialog to the Data files tab.
Click Add then browse to your existing PST file.
If the PST is a native Outlook 2003/2007 file type, choose the top entry for the Outlook Personal File. Click Ok.
    Select your existing PST file.
You can enter a friendly name or just click OK to return the Account Settings dialog.
Click the Sets as Default button. Select the PST Outlook created when it created the profile and click Remove. If you want, click Open folder to find and deletes this PST.
I hope this information will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards

  • Importing photos from old iPhone into iPhoto

I've just upgraded an iPhone and am trying to get the photos off the old one onto the computer. Using iPhoto because that's what I've used before. The iPhone is connected via USB and iTunes recognizes it but iPhoto doesn't show it at all, so there's no chance to import anything. Any ideas why the device is not showing up to iPhoto, even while it does show up to iPhoto? Be advised, I have not backed up to the Cloud at all so Photo Stream is not enabled.
And a secondary question: why in the heck would iTunes be set up, under the Photos tab, to import photos FROM the computer TO the iPhone? That's all I can get it to do at least. Why in the world would I want to move photos in that direction, if the iPhone is the camera and the comptuer hard drive is the storage device?

So you can view pics from your computer on your iphone.  For most, then iphone is not the only camera they ever use.  In fact, it is likely not the main camera you would use.

  • Moved to a new computer running windows 7. what happened to the bookmark sidebar? how do I get it back? How do I move my bookmarks from old computer to new computer?

new computer, loaded Firefox 4. What happened to bookmark sidebar? How do I get it back? How do I move my bookmarks from old computer to new computer?
old computer is offline, so if I have to make a copy of something hopefully it can be done offline.
Don't really understand why windows 7 renders Firefox so different that XP. Will change, but really like the old feel.

  • How do i recover music from old computer. its broken and i did not have the music backed up on any other hard drive.

how do i recover music from old computer. its broken and i did not have the music backed up on any other hard drive.

OK, well, seems like you need to lose the attitude if you really want help.
There are several ways to get music from iTunes on your computer to your device.
The easiest is to sync directly with iTunes by connecting your device to your computer, selecting the device, setting up your Profile pages, and then clicking the Sync button to sync.
First you want to open iTunes and under Preferences>Devices, make sure that you are not syncing automatically:
Make sure that box is checked.
Then follow the instructions in the article below for either your computer or your Mac to set up your Profile pages and to sync your music via iTunes:
    WINDOWS IOS SYNC ITUNES 11
iTunes 11 for Mac: Set up syncing for iPod, iPhone, or iPad
You can also directly download music from iTunes to your device by going to the iTunes icon, going to "Purchased", and selecting the items that are not on your device that show a little cloud next to them. Click on the cloud and the music will download.
You might also want to familiarize yourself with your iPhone 5 manual. It has all the answers you cannot find on Google or by trying to just do it by brute force. If you would take a little time to read about your device and how to use it, you might not be so frustruated and unnecessarily snarky to people who are trying to help:

  • How do I transfer pix in Elements 7 from old computer to Elements 9 in new computer?

Old PC crashed but I can operate in safe mode and get to files. Elements 7 won't open, though. New laptop has Elements 9 preinstalled.  How do I transfer photos to new laptop so Elements 9 recognizes them?  Do I just copy photo files from old computer and paste them into same folder in new computer and then open Elements 9 and import them all or is something else required?  Will I need to set up new albums or can I get old albums to transfer somehow.

Being able to retrieve media files is a good thing, but what would be still better is to find the catalog itself where the database and accessory catalog files are stored.
If you can do a search for a 'catalog.pse7db' file (probably hidden in explorer, you could be able to retrieve everything.
The process would be to copy the media files in the exact same folders as the original, and to copy the whole folder containing the catalog somewhere on the new computer. From PSE9 you could open the organizer and use the catalog manager to convert the old catalog : you'll have to navigate to the folder where you have copied the catalog.
Tell us if you need more details.
    Edit:
Another way would be to install the old drive in an external USB housing : if the procedure stated above is not adequate, that could be worth a try.
