Cannot invite attendees to iCal event in iCal 5.0 on new MacOSX lion?

Hi there,
Background: I have two gmail calendars snyced with the new iCal 5.0 on MacOsx Lion.
Problem: When creating an event, I cannot add anybody to the event. The attendee field is just nonexistant. If I drag and drop a business card into iCal a new event is created with the person listed as attendee, but I cannot edit this event.
Cry for help: This is weird - I need this to work. With those basics, there is no excuse for iCal . I cannot find anything relevant on the web. Did anybody experience something similar?

Got a solutions for you that worked for me because I have the same annoying problem.
1. sign in to iclould on the website www.icloud.com/
2. Go to your calendar
3. You'll noticed some extra benefits of creating invents here instead of iCal app. You can actually invite attendees!! Also, when selecting a day for your event, it pops up a calendar and you just click on the day you want. On iCal you have to manually type in the date numbers.

Your event must be in iCloud Calendars.
Create an event. Then tap the event in Calendars. Then tap Edit, then tap Invitees to select people from contacts.

Cannot invite attendees to a BB event created on handheld.

I was getting error KB19454 when trying to sync BB Desktop Manager. This happened two times and the only solution at this point is to restore my handset. This isn't something I'm willing to do regularly.
The way around this was to use Google Calendar in conjunction with iCal, Entourage, Google Sync and Spanning Sync. I got all the programs talking to one another but now I'm unable to invite attendees via my handset for events I create on the 9630.
I used to be able to send invitations with my default email address. Now my only option is to send an invitation with a Blackberry Messenger Group.
I have five calendar groups:
-Groups (the only option I can select to invite contacts)
-Device Default
-Gmail
-Work account
-Work account
This immediately started happening when I started using Google Sync.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Equipment being used:
-Blackberry Tour 9630
-Macbook v1.1
-Entourage 2008
-iCal v3.0.8
-Spanning Sync v3.0.4
-Google Sync (on handheld)

Invite attendees to multiple events?

Is there any way in iCal to invite people to multiple events through one invitation. I am in the process of setting up iCal for work where we want to send invites to staff for their shifts, the main reason being that by doing this if we change a shift they will get a notification of the change. Our concern however is that if we add people to individual events they will end up with hundreds of emails/notifications in one go. Is there anyway to invite them to multiple events with just one invite?

When you create an event you will need to tie it to a meeting worspace (either create one or link to an existing one). Then once the event has been created you will see "Attendees" on the home page for the meeting workspace. You can add attendees here.
If you want the attendees to receive an email then you will need to attach a workflow to the attendees list. This can be done using SharePoint Designer (Now a free download). In SharePoint Designer, you can use the send email action and specify the attendees user field in the workflow lookup. There is no need to specify a condition for this workflow unless you want one.

Can't invite people to events in iCal

I'm having problems inviting people to attend events in iCal on my Macbook Pro. It works fine on my iMac through a MobileMe subscription and through MobileMe the two computers and my iPhone sync perfectly.
When I try and send out the invitations, it says that I need to create an address card for myself in address book. This is also synced through MobileMe to my iMac and iPhone so therefore I can't understand why it won't send out the email. The address details are the same and Mail works fine on both computers and the iPhone.
Does anyone have any suggestions - I'm sure this is a quick fix but I simply don't know what else to do!

You might want to open AddressBook, look for your address card (create one if you don't have one), and mark it as yours.

I have to go to the google calendar website and schedule it from there. My wife has a 4S and she can do it right from iCal on a google calendar. What am I missing?

Trouble with ical events

I have an unusual problem. I cannot add an all day event in ical on the 30th Sept. The event jumps over to the 1st Oct. The same for any year. Anyone ever had this strange behaviour? The only way I can add an event on the 30th is to have it from the 29th to the 30th All other dates things work fine.

Only the question poser can set the "solved" or "helped" flag so not sure how come yours was set!
Anyway all I'm saying is that I can set it so it's not everyone who has the issue it's more likely something restricted to your unique setup.

Calendar Invite Attendees

ok i am new to the forum. I just left blackberry after 8 years and I was shocked there was no way to invite people to a meeting via the calendar. my question is does anyone know if there is a way to do this and/or does anyone have insider info as to when this feature will be available? For the record i am hooked on the palm and am rooting big time for the underdog!!

Did you ever get an answer for inviting attendees to calendar events? I too am a BB user and would like to use the Pre but this is a serious blunder on the part of the engineers. It may not work. Thanks.

ICal sends multiple emails for invites and updates to event attendees - HELP!

Every time I create or send an event in iCal, it sends multiple emails to each attendee (2-3 duplicate emails) with the same event. So if I have 3 event invitees, they get 3 emails each. All the emails are sent from the correct account in Apple Mail, and the calendar itself shows only one email address for each attendee, but for some reason the sent folder shows that each person was emailed 2-3 times. This is causing quite a problem for work, as any invite I send is clogging up inboxes with duplicate and triplicates for each attendee.
When I send a meeting acceptance, it only sends one reply, so I have no idea why it's duplicating or triplicating events when new ones are sent out or udpated by me. I can't delete my calendar without losing important events from clients or what not, so I'm not sure what to do.
Also notable:
I am NOT using iCloud calendars as I needed to create a calendar group and iCloud didn't support that.
My calendar is syncing to an FTP so that people in my main office can view and download my calendar as needed.
I am on a brand new (not even 2 mos old) MacBook Pro Retina 2013 model, with OS X 10.8.3
I am on Calendar 6.0
I can't change/update events on my calendar from one sub-calendar to another once they are created (though I can edit on my iPhone and resync). This is really annoying and I've posted about this before to no avail (thread here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/21646850#21646850 and here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3920017?start=0&tstart=0).
For now (for this thread) I'd like any help possible in getting my calendar to send just ONE email to meeting attendees when I create and/or update an event.

I have the same issue. Did you get a resolution to this? Whenever I add a new person to the meeting invite iCal always resends the entire invite...it should just send the invite to newly added participants.

only two ways I can think off, you either have to tick the "Show action" when run button...which will allow you to change the date. But this requires you to do it, so not very automatic !
Daft question, but have you built the workflow and does it always have the same date, when saved as an Application and run on different days ?
Or use a GUI AppleScript, I can't see anything in the iCal dictionary that lets you create a new event...
So depending on your needs, you could add in a "Run AppleScript"

activate
tell application "System Events"
tell process "iCal"
keystroke "t" using command down
delay 1
keystroke "n" using command down
end tell
end tell
end tell
It would open iCal, then go to today and create a new event.
It all depends on your full workflow really. It can be tweaked to suit.

Cannot open iCal event invitation from my iPad yahoo account

when I create an iCal event on my iMac I add invitees and send email to yahoo email address to my friends iPad. The attachment is there but when I click on it i get "Mail Cannot Open This Attachment" We just bought the iMac and iPad and we are clueless to the Apple world. PLEASE HELP!!!!
Not sure what OS but its a new WI-FI iPad.

Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
Add your account again.

Issue: I own a BB and an iphone. I am trying to synce events that I have on my iphone to events that I have on my blackberry and vice versa. Possible? Yes. But how????
I am also trying to do the same via iCal on my mac. I tried to add an even using the iCal on my mac where it says "invite attendee's" and I created a contact for the email of the individual but the "create a contact for attendee" kept coming up and its becomming very annoying.
Can anyone help me?

iCal, under iOS 5.1, has repeatedly frozen on me when creating a new event as well. Previously, the only fix I found was to do a Restore, though that seemed to be a bit of a waste considering iCal was the only app having a problem. If it was a third party app, I would just delete it from the iPod Touch and have it reinstalled during the next sync. However, syncing did not fix iCal's being frozen. I would close out of it, do the sync and then open it again only to find it was still frozen. The hard power down was a much faster fix. Thank you Norman!

Cannot add attendees to iCal Server on SL Server

I try to narrow this problem down as much as I can. First off... the normal calendar function works fine, but adding attendees to events doesn't work anymore. The server isn't live yet, so nobody noticed the error until now and I have no idea what went wrong and when.
When I access the Wiki calendar the error happens as soon as I want to add attendees. It says something like "You don't have permission to view this calendar" in a popup.
Webserver log:

Funnily enough I created a new temporary user, who is able to send out invitations, but the other users aren't able to accept them (with similar errors).

Well, the error manifests differently, but no, it doesn't work in iCal.app either.
Like I said, adding, changing, deleting events works fine, just adding attendees to the events gives me 403 errors.
That is true for the Calendar-Wiki as well as iCal app.
