Cannot Load 155MB SQL Script

Newbie here!
I am trying to load a 155MB SQL script (mostly INSERTs) in SQL Developer 1.2 and the program never displays the file and the tab at the top of the workspace turns gray. There is a lot of Disk and CPU activity right up until the point where it stops. Is there any way to run the script without loading it into the editor? I just need to build the table, not edit the script.
I can create and insert into smaller tables fine. I also have the same problem on other scripts of similar size or larger.
The system is a Pentium 4/1.7GHz (1GB RAM, XP SP2, 60GB Partition) running Database XE (10g) just downloaded last week. The 155MB script was created by SQL Developer on another system/database.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for and got me going. Still, I'm having a lot of trouble with these files that seem to be related to serious bugs in SQL Developer 1.1's Export>Insert on my source system. I'm having to reload most of these files using SQL*Plus because SQL Developer 1.2 hangs or drops rows with no explanation. Even SQL*Plus is struggling with them, which all points back to a faulty Export>Insert.
I cannot believe this is a 1.2 release...

Can you be more specific about what you want to achieve?
Do you mean running a package that OWB generated as a mapping?
Or running some external code?
Please check the User Guide, especially chapters 6 (Creating Mappings), 9 (Using Oracle Warehouse Builder Transformations) and 11 (Deploying to Target Schemas and Executing ETL Logic).

Dimension load through sql script generated by AWM

Hi,
I have taken the script which AWM has generated while loading a dimenson. I created it as a procedure in the schema where the AW having this dimension exists. The procedure works well when executed in this schema.
Now I want to load the dimension through other schema by executing the procedure. I did following to achieve this:-
1) Grant execute on the procedure is given to new schema
2) Grant all on aw$<aw name>(dim exits in this AW) to the new schema
When I try to run the procedure this give me following error:
Successoracle.AWXML.AWException: Action BUILDDATABASE failed on object XPRO_OLAP_WH.XPRO_OLAP_WH
Am I missing something?

Which version?
If 11g, try the following too.
a) use object security (available via awm, right click on dimension and select object security) to give access to dimension for other schema
b) use keyword "AUTHID CURRENT_USER" in pl/sql package/procedure definition.
c)
grant OLAP_USER to <new_schema>;
grant OLAP_XS_ADMIN to <new_schema>;
Try a), b) first. Failing that, try a), b) and c).

Basically we manually connect to the mysql server and go to the administrator and take the back up of the file
and load the sql script for creating a schema creating the tables and populating the tables with the data.
Is it possible through some java jdbc for connecting to the mysql server and creating the schema and creating the table structure and populating the tables with data.
And if there is any error display some message.

Executing sql script from file, with multiple queries

Hello,
I am trying to load an SQL script from a file, parse the script into separate SQL statements, and execute each of them. The final statement will always be a query, and thus will return a result.
Three problems arise:
1. I don't know what TYPE of statement each one is (i.e. whether it is an UPDATE or a QUERY), which seems to be required in order to execute it in java (via executeQuery and executeUpdate).
2. I am not sure of the best way to execute a series of statements (the Statement object has some "batch" functionality, but I'm not sure if there is a better way, or even of the proper way to use this).
3. I need to be able to make sure the final statement is a QUERY, and thus will return a ResultSet. Otherwise I need to be able to throw an exception.
This has been causing me a lot of trouble. Any help would be much appreciated.

My example below, using just the SMO and not breaking up the batches, the ExecuteWithResults give the following error when the .sql file contains a GO. My script files are as simple as a DECLARE and then a GO.

Based on my research, the issue can be occurred due to something get corrupted in the script task. To fix this issue, please copy the code in the task, then rebuild the script task with the same code to test again.

How to load SQL scripts from a text file.

Hi, i tried several time to load a text file/SQL script with 10 different tables and data, but 10g Express doesen't allows me to do that, any one can direct me or point out to me what i should do or do i need to adopt any special method to to get this done. i am sure there must be some thing where you can upload SQL scripts from a text file (in SQL command editor!). thanks

I am a beginner of using jdbc, i use the tomcat4.1.x, mysql3.23.54 and it's jdbc driver 2.0.14. I place the drive <in jar file> in tomcat/commons/lib and configure the server.xml, web.xml and some testing coding. But there are some error like the following:

Post the part of your code that loads the driver and connects. My guess is you are using a variable for the name of the driver and the variable has not been set to anything(intially set to null).

Everything looks correct to me, except for one thing.
In your web.xml you have this:
<res-ref-name>jdbc/ora</res-ref-name> In your server.xml, you have this tag, which matches your web.xml:
<ResourceParams name="jdbc/ora" > But in your Java code, you've got this:
dataSource = (DataSource) ctx.lookup("jdbc/acdb"); When I've successfully set up a Web app data source, all three names had to agree. You either need to change your Java lookup name to "jdbc/ora" or change the web.xml and server.xml to "jdbc/acdb".
See if that does it. Everything else sounds correct to me. - MOD

Unable to load sql script which is given in this tutorial: load_sample.sql

To start, I inform you that I am beginner with Oracle. I installed Oracle 10g Express Edition on my computer(O/S: window xp)
Then I go on http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/f?p=4550:9:4181329966856697::NO:::, I login with system account, I create another dba account etc ... all looks very well ! Then I follow this tutorial: http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/tutorial/DBXETutorial/index.htm
and I am unable to load sql script which is given in this tutorial: load_sample.sql (page:What to do first> Loading Data). I try with a little sql script and same result. I use gedit with UTF-8 and load in UTF-8, my browser is Firefox .
The result is: when I upload a script, The browser returns "script uploaded." Then I can click on my script but the file is empty ! Nothing is done when i click on "run". Also I can' create a script. To import a script I have to copy one by one request in sql commands. I try also to change the owner of load_sample.sql:
But it doesn't work. If someone has an idea ? Thanks for your help.

Problem Solved.
When I switched default browser from mozilla firefox to ie(internet explorer) the problem is solved i got this from forum post (Script Editor Not Working
But still i want to know why "load_sample.sql" is not run with the default browser(mozilla firefox).

I cannot load Firefox. I have been using it for years. When I click, the hourglass comes on for about 3 seconds then goes away nothing happens. That is a problem with an AVG extension (toolbar).
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Cannot run SQL script on Oracle Database 10g Express Edition

I'm trying to upload a script, and the file is being uploaded fine, but in the Script Editor window where I'm going to actually run the script, the entire file content is shown on one line and the whole edit area is in red. I'm not being able to run that script. Also if I create a new script from the editor, the edit area is again in red and I'm not able to save it. Please help me understand what's to be done so that I can run my SQL scripts.

I'd bet the database is down.
Try a login through sqlplus ("Run SQL Command Line" in the Oracle Express Edition 'Start' menu).
Do a CONN / AS SYSDBA
If you get a message about database or memory area not available, try STARTUP.
If that doesn't work, you are best off in the General Database forum or the Express Edition forum.
You'll probably get the most expert response in General Database, but the Express Edition forum can be gentler on newbies (as it is more accepted that questioners are not and do not have access to full-time DBAs).
