Cannot load restored bootcamp parition

I have upgraded my HD and in the process also upgraded my OSX to Yosemite. I have now restored my bootcamp partition from my old HD, but can't get it to load. When rebooting and holding down the alt key it does not show, nor can I get it to boot in Parallels.
I have followed the instructions at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6465316 but it hasn't made any difference.
What have I done wrong?

  • BootCamp cannot load from disk code 5

I tried to install Windows 7 using BootCamp from an ISO image DVD I made. Now when I restart my iMac, it takes me to a black screen with the "cannot load from disk code: 5" error message. The "option key" and "eject key" don't work at all and no matter how many times I restart it, it always goes back to this screen where I can't seem to press anything and the dvd is stuck. Please help.

I burned my disc at 2 speed in Toast. Burned my XP iso like this too, and that worked (not on early 2011 mbp's)
I even deleted the bootcamp partition and resized the osx partition to the max. That way i have a clean partition/install each time i trie. Used partition size is standard (20gb) so that shouldn't be an issue. And the iso i'm using for win7 is being used by al lot of others and they seem to have no problems and claim it to be a bootable disk.
The only probable solution i've found is a workaround in which you launch your install from a different running OS, and go from there. However i'm not such a windows fan i got a full working pc. Just my mbp's so this really isn't an option and it seems a bit far off because i got a concrete error code.
I'll try to get a copy of parallels to test my iso, but i don't want to emulate, i just need boot camp to work!

  • HT201250 Does Time Machine backup and restore Bootcamp?

I am replacing defective hard drive in an iMac that I primarily use as a pc under Bootcamp.  I have to find some way to clone and restore the bootcamp partition.  I was told today by a Genius at the Apple store that I should buy a 2 TB external (which I did for $150)  and run Time Machine.  He assured me that my bootcamp partition would be backed up along with the entire mac partition and that I would be able to restore everything perfectly on the new hd. Now that I am home and continuing my research, I can't find anywhere that says it will work.  Documentation on Time Machine fails to  mention bootcamp.  So, does Time Machine backup and restore bootcamp or not?  And will it be bootable after the restore?  Help!

I think you've got it! I have never used WinClone so I cannot attest to how well it will work, but it's pretty much all lthere is. You will have to create a new Boot Camp partition on the new drive, and it should be the same size as the partition you cloned.
Be sure you prep the new hard drive:
    Drive Preparation
    1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
    7. Quit DU upon completion and return to the installer. Now install Snow Leopard or restore from your Time Machine backup.

  • Internal error, cannot load engine Number 2 due to error 5

I have had a StartStop transcription program for several years. I bought my Dell computer with Windows 8 (now 8.1) in late 2014. I had no problems running the StartStop program until it got a tune-up by my regular tech.  Since then, when I click to
open it, I get the message: "##### Internal error, cannot load engine Number 2 due to error 5."  My tech couldn't figure it out and another tech couldn't fix it either after looking at it for hours.  StartStop could not figure it out either.
Since then, I bought a Digitope digitalizer, which converts cassette tapes to CD's. When I try to open that program the exact same error message comes up!
So I am thinking there is something awry with certain audio programs. I am able to run another transcription program, Express Scribe.
    Any thoughts!
The 2nd tech suggested rebooting the entire computer and reinstalling all programs, but I'm not sure I can find all my original programs.
    Thanks!

    Hello Silent Fisher,
What StartStop transcription program do you mean?
    Please share me a screenshot.
If it is a third-party software, it is recommended to contact the support of the software.
If the issue occurs after your change, please use the system restore to restore your computer’s system files to an earlier point in time.

  • Ipod Touch Stuck On iTunes Screen. The iPod 'iPod' cannot be restored at this time because the ipod software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable.

I got a new ipod touch for Christmas.
Today I was going to put music on it, i was told there was updates.
So I went ahead to do them.
My Ipod is stuck on the screen with the usb cord pointing to the itunes logo.
    In Itunes i'm told :
Itunes has dected an ipod in recovery mode. You must restore this ipod before it can be used with itunes.
Turning the ipod off - the same screen appears when it's back on.
When I click restore ipod and after restore and update is clicked ; Extracting software loads up at the top.
When its done this is the message I get:
The iPod 'iPod' cannot be restored at this time because the ipod software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable.
I've been looking up trying to figure it out myself and have read making sure a setting in Lan Settings in Internet Properties has ; Automatically detect settings checked. I still get the same ipod message.
I've tried holding the power and home key to turn it off, then powering it back on. But that doesn't work.
I installed itunes today, so its up to date - I checked.
I don't know what else to do.
    Can someone help me out, please? :}
The operating system was ios 5 something? It wanted to update to 6 i believe.

I've tried the top part but now that i've looked to the bottom:
    Additional Information
The “hosts” file may also be blocking gs.apple.com.
Select the hosts file (normally you can find your hosts file at C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC).
I put this in the url bar?
When it gives me the list of names, im not sure what to do from there. The steps aren't that clear for me.

  • Windows 7 loading hangs - Bootcamp

Hi guys, i just got a i5 13" MBA 256Gb, LG dvdrw drive and windows 7 pro. problem is that after setting bootcamp parition, it restarts to setup mode, and it hangs at the loading bar, about 3 fingers long, it hangs forever. did anybody encounter this?
Any advise is greatly appreciated .
    Jason Sim

One of the reasons Windows 7 might have trouble, is where you are forced to delete and create NTFS out of the FAT/MSDOS partition that BCA creates.
Second, Windows 7 may assume that one of the 128MB or 200MB partitions on there (EFI at the end of each HFS volume and GPT head) look like FAT; Windows 7 creates a 100MB System Recovery partition. It may try to use those instead of taking it from the BOOTCAMP partition.
XP discs could vary and some versions would wipe out Mac OS, not even ask for where to put Windows, for no rhyme or reason, even XP SP3. Of course that means having a backup is doubly important.
Windows 7 64-bit is only "officially" support on some Macs, which doesn't mean it can't or won't, only that may have extra steps, may get an extra "Select 1 or 2" option due to its own EFI menu on Windows DVD.

Firefox cannot load all websites in e10s window. But Firefox can load all websites in e10s window.

Well, this is embarrassing. We tried to display this Web page, but it's not responding.
Tell Mozilla about this crash so they can fix it.
Or sometimes for the last tab it shows :
Websites show a spinning wheel and never finish loading
Of course other browsers works 'perfectly' onto loading sites.
What can I do. Is this an e10s bug, that I could help to qualify and how?
Also looking for a workaroud. I want to restore my tabs onto a non-e10s window, but really don't figure how to do that. Means, after relaunching FF-nightly, restore my windows and tabs.
He still give me this message :
Nightly is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. blah blah...
I want to disable e10s as of for now, until he will maybe work again.

If you would like to disable e10s please follow these steps:

Don't worry e10s is getting better every day. It's just a matter of time and hard work.

    Roman,
how can you know that it is about AIX? The OP didn't tell us.
Besides that, I agree that different OS versions may be the root cause.

  • Cannot load from BACKUPSTORE issue

    Hi,
Hopefully, someone can help with this. I'm in the process of developing a J2EE application. At present it contains one very small stateful session bean. The issue I have regards passivation and removal of this bean. For testing purposes I have set the passivation and removal timeouts to small values as follows:
    <bean-cache>
    <victim-selection-policy>FIFO</victim-selection-policy>
    <cache-idle-timeout-in-seconds>60</cache-idle-timeout-in-seconds>
    <removal-timeout-in-seconds>60</removal-timeout-in-seconds>
    </bean-cache>
My understanding is that using the above settings will passivate the bean after 1 minute and remove the bean after a further minute.
Passivation appears to be occuring as a message contained within the ejbPassivate method is being written to the server log. However, the problem I'm having is when I then try to access the bean once passivated. I get the following stack trace:

Previously using IPlanet 6 we did not receive such a stack trace. Is this simply because we are now using a later JVM and this stack trace is to be expected?
    Thanks,
    Emma.

I have finally discovered the cause of this problem. A class file is available to the EJB's client, but not to the EJB.
It seems we have decided to use pass-by-reference with our EJB (in sun-application.xml). So when an EJB method is called with such an object for an argument, no copy needs to be created, and we do not get any class loading errors.
The EJB can hold and use the object, and even passivate it without problem. However, when the EJB container needs to restore the passivated EJB a java.lang.ClassNotFoundException is thrown if the class file is not available. Oddly this exception is only seen in the log if logging is set to FINIEST, but this leads to the "Cannot load from BACKUPSTORE" message, the javax.ejb.NoSuchObjectLocalException, the org.omg.CORBA.OBJECT_NOT_EXIST, and the java.rmi.NoSuchObjectException.

  • Cannot load backup (due to changed Apple ID/updated email address)

I have followed the answer provided to Ross202 by Gail from Maine. Unfortunately I fear my problem may be larger.
    Objective
Move iCloud-backed up data to new iPhone (old phone "drowned" over holidays)
    Context
My original Apple ID was EmailOld. This email address (EmailOld) has been terminated. Unfortunately my iCloud / backup is linked to Apple ID EmailOld (so verifying this is not possible). My new AppleID is EmailNew, and this has been verified. I have tried changing my Apple profile to EmailOld, as suggested by Gail (without the verification email).
Despite following Gail's steps, Apple could not backup my old account. Error message:
"Cannot load backups. There was a problem loading your iCloud Backups. Try again, set up as a new iPhone, or restore from an iTunes backup.
    Options
    - Try again (*)
    - Set up as a new iPhone (**)
    - Restore from iTunes (***)"
    Troubleshooting steps
(*) Try again repeats same issue.
Apple ID EmailOld: "iCloud Sign in" --> Agree --> "It may take a few minutes to set up your Apple ID" --> Choose backup screen --> takes an age --> above message repeated
AppleID EmailNew: (Update AppleID to EmailNew in My Apple ID) "iCloud Sign in" --> Agree --> "It may take a few minutes to set up your Apple ID" --> "Choose backup" screen, with options --> selection of backups --> but then I either 1) have to enter correct password corresponding with EmailOld (and EmailOld and current password don't match), or 2) get error message above
(**) Set up as a new iPhone (using:
    (a) old Apple ID says --> "Could Not Sign In | There was a problem connecting to the server". I have reviewed and checked wifi connection, all in order here. I have tried using new account, same error message,
    (b) new Apple ID works. And this is hopeful - the device can detect I have about 10GB data stored on iCloud. However, I cannot agitate this sync from iCloud to my new device
(***) I have logged in to iTunes with Apple ID EmailOld (it works - it even says 17 updates on my apps, however I can't agitate updates). I cannot get a sync going.
My phone requests me to "Connect to iTunes", but I cannot do anything more than this. (I have unplugged and plugged my USB cable many times)
I have also logged in to iTunes with Apple ID EmailNew (it works too). But, again, I cannot connect to iTunes
    Possible solutions
Recognition of 10GB iCloud-backed up data on new device (despite the fact that old Apple ID doesn't match new Apple ID)
Any help will be greatly appreciated! 5 hours and counting :/
    Thanking the community in advance

Call Apple Care for your country and request help reactivating the Apple ID and resetting the password.

  • TS3999 iCloud message: Cannot load calendar

Since yesterday I'm not able to access my calendar on icloud.com.
I get a notification "Cannot Load Calendar" with the option of "Reload," "Report to Apple," and "Close Calendar."
When trying to refresh my calendar in iCal (on my iMac and MacBook Air), I get the notificaiton, "The server responded with an error.
    Notification: “400” to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation."
I'm NOT sharing any calendars with others.
I hope that somebody could help me.

    Today's update:
All of a sudden I am now able to access calendar on icloud.com and entries on icloud calendar get pushed to iOS devices and iCal.
Entries on iOS devices are not pushed.
Entries on iCal get the following notification:
The server responded with an error.
The request for “New Event” in “Work” in account “iCloud” failed.
         The server responded with“400”
         to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation.
I also can't restore from back-up to icloud calendars on iCal
    Extremely frustrating!

  • Cannot load a certain page

I cannot load my favorite web comic on my iPhone 3G. It has all the software updates available. The site is www.questionablecontent.net
I looked up this comic on a friends iPhone, and it loaded just fine, just not on mine. Any insight?

Unlikely to work but it's quick and easy... try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
If that doesn't work, try a restore.
You could also try another browser... iCabMobile works well.

  • Cannot load XPCOM error

have tried everything. i'm okay for a day or two and then the cannot load XPCOM error reappears. Same with others, it doesn't matter how far back the restore is

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop<br>https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    *(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"

    Hi Mark e Stefan.
First of all, thank for your cooperations!
Now... I've checked the env path as you say, and everithing is ok.
After that I try to check the "List of  Dynamic Dependencies" with the ldd command, and this is the result:
    bwpadm> ldd $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle
    /oracle/BWP/102_64/bin/oracle needs:
             /usr/lib/libc.a(shr_64.o)

    Cannot find libjox10.a(shr.o)

             /usr/lib/libc.a(aio_64.o)
             /unix
             /usr/lib/libcrypt.a(shr_64.o)
             /usr/lib/libcfg.a(shr_64.o)
             /usr/lib/liblvm.a(shr_64.o)
Now, "just for fun", i've created a symlink to the quality test system (BWT)
    /oracle/BWT -> BWP
and executing the ldd $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle command i didn't get any error!
Now, after  executing the relink all command I get the following error message:
ld: 0706-006 Cannot find or open library file: -l java
ld:open(): A file or directory in the path name does not exist.
