Cannot log in to Windows after restoring image

After an apparent successful restore of an image to a Gateway M250C laptop the Novell Client log in box appears. The Advanced option only shows a Windows tab. When a log in to Windows is attempted it appears it is going to work then the Novell Client log in screen reappears. This is only happening with the Gateway model above. I have several to image and it's happening with all of them. Images for other Gateway models, IBM desktops and laptops, and Lenovo desktops and laptops work fine. The current version of Novell Client is 4.91.5.20100928. I've reinstalled it on the original computer and recreated the image with the same result.
Any ideas?

cannot activate my iphone 3gs after restoring it to ios

The typical cause is that the device has been hacked or jailbroken.

  • After upgrading, I cannot log in to windows as administrator. Only user accounts can log into windows. I can make no changes or restor, because I cannot gain administrator access.

    Hi Tracy,
I don't suspect Malware yet, Id guess Disk corruption or failing Hard Drive with Files not found.
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

  • Users cannot log into Remote Desktop after 3/11/2015 update!

I have a simple network where users can log into a Windows SBS 2008 server with Remote Desktop to access various applications.  This worked quite smoothly until this morning, after the updates of last evening. (3/11/2015)
When users tried to log into the Remote Desktop this morning their credentials were rejected, as if their username and/or password were incorrect.  Even I (as the administrator) could not log in remotely.  Finally I connected a monitor and keyboard
directly to the server and was able to log in without an issue.  After logging in directly I was able to connect through remote desktop.
This method worked for my other users as well - after I logged them in directly they were able to use remote desktop no problem.
The trouble is that I have a couple dozen users, and this is an issue that should not be occurring.  What happened in the last update to cause remote desktop to reject users credentials?  Why does it only work after the user logs in directly?
And most importantly, how do I fix this?
    A few notes:
Simply browsing for files on the server also asks for the user's name and password, and this works as well.  This is only a remote desktop issue.
I have already checked to make sure the domain was correct.  It was.
I have already checked to make sure the usernames and passwords were correct.  They were.
I have already checked to make sure this was not a unique issue for a single (or limited number) of users.  This issue effected
    all users all the network.
Thank you very much for your help,
    Dustin

I'm curious here...  If the server is rebooted, does it put the RDS users back into a "credentials failed" situation?  If so, could you please have them log in with credentials:
domain.local\username    (I suspect they may be currently using domain\username)
and see if that fixes the RDS problem without having to first log into the server directly.
The ".local" may be ".lan" or ".somethingelse" depending on how you initially configured your domain, but the default for SBS 2008 is ".local"
    Merv Porter
    =========================
That's a good question - the server will auto-reboot this evening and I'll test again in the morning.
You are correct that we've been using domain\username.  I tried domain.local\username (which is the way we've set up), and that did not work either.
I'll let you know how things turn out tomorrow morning.  I don't want to mess with my users anymore today. :P

  • Cannot Log into AIM account after multiple tries

This problem is a nightmare. I really do appreciate the support. Unfortunatly the fix is only temporary. Here is what is going on and what Fixes I have tried.
The problem is on my parents G5 power PC (~2006)
They have an AOL AIM account.
Ichat worked great for about 4 months.
Then the problems occurred (Can not log into AIM account after mutliple tries).
    We have tried:
Switching to port 443 - this has not worked ever time we have tried it.
Deleting iChat.plist, iChatAgent.plist, and iChatAIM.plist (left the other ichat plists alone like Jabber, Agent, Subnet, etc)
This this restores ichat for about a day then back to the same problem.
We have also tried running disk utlity and repairing permissions and get it going for day some times.
Not sure what else is causing it to drop out and having to delete this times again and again? Any ideas?

    On the Netgear
The Access IP is normally 192.168.0.1 and the User ID is admin and the password is password when the pop down appears.
----Under SYSTEM PREFERENCES>NETWORK It shows Airport Connected to "Netgear 192.168.1.3" do not see User ID or password on the screen?
In the menu on the left the last (or near last item) is UPnP.
    Check this is Enabled.
----Do not see this listed anywhere
About two thirds of the way down the menu is WAN Set up
In hear Disable the Port Scan Line (It will read DOS (or SPI) and Port Scan)
There is another Line about "Blocking Responses to Ping on the WAN port" this needs to be Disabled as well (IChat sends a Ping to confirm where the Visible Invite went to is where the SIP stuff (In the Log about the error) is coming back from).
    On the DNS info.
This should be two IP address normally that are on the Internet.
These should appear on the RCA if it is accessible in a web Browser but more likely on the Router's Set Up pages (or Some sort of Summary page).
A 192.168.x.x address points to the Router (I would guess in this case) and whilst some routes can be DNS servers as well it is not that common and is only really useful to link a MAC (Ethernet and/or WiFi Card - Media Access Card Address) info to a Name for the Computers that are attached.
----Not sure where to find all this in OS 10.5.8
----Under System Preferences>Network with Airport highlighted I click advanced and go to TCP/IP is see two addresses the ipv4 = 192.168.1.3 and the router=192.168.1.1
(I have presumed that there are no other DNS servers are listed and the 192.166 bit was a typo)
---Correct i put a typo as i was not sure if it was secure to post.
If the Computer can do Wifi as well as Ethernet it should not have both Connected to the Router at the same time. (iChat "Sees" it as two Connections to the Internet).
--- The computer is only connected via Airport to the netgear router.

  • NIC device missing after restoring image

    I am using ZCM 10.3. I've created an image of a Win7 Enterprise HP5103
netbook. When I restore the image to an "identical" 5103 I find that the NIC
has disappeared. If I check device manage the ethernet adapter appears
under other devices. If I reinstall the driver, allowing it to search and
automatically install, it restores the NIC.
I can't figure out why the NIC just isn't there immediately after restoring
    the image.

  • Cannot log in to Windows 8.1 Pro virtual machine!

    Hello.
I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my iMac (Mid 2011) via Boot Camp, then I installed Parallels Desktop 8 and my Windows virtual machine was recognised by PD8. Then I upgraded my Windows version to Windows 8 Pro and added Windows Media Centre. All that was also recognised by PD8. Then I upgraded to Parallels Desktop 9, and everything was going fine.
I recently upgraded my Windows 8 Pro with Media Centre to Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Centre from the Windows partition, and I had no problem with that either. But when I tried to log in to Windows through Parallels Desktop (Windows as a virtual machine), Parallels Desktop didn't recognise the Windows virtual machine!
How can I resolve this issue?!
    Thanks.

  • Problems with drivers and Windows after restoring

Hey All,  I hope you can help because I have myself a confusing problem.
I have a Satellite A500 series laptop running Windows 7 Premium.
I recently had a hard drive fail.  I have replaced the hard drive and used the restore/recovery disks provided to me by Toshiba.
My problem is, during the recovery I am informed that two drivers do not have the necessary Digital Signatures. These are the Realtek RTL9191SE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC and the TOSHIBA Firmware 64 bit Drivers.
Once recover was complete I tried to use the computer and had several issues that may be connected:
    1.  I cannot get any Microsoft updates- which includes any of the troubleshooting options etc.  Apparently the service is not running.  Even if I got to the website I can't get anything.
    2.  My Microsoft Office produce key code (printed on the botton of my laptop) is "incorrect"
    3.  My wireless will not work because there is no digital signature validation (code 52)
I know my wireless if functional because if I press F8 during boot up I get the option to ignore signature validations and can get on the internet.  From there I did download and install an updated driver from the TOSHIBA website, which had no effect (I got the same error, even after uninstalling the other driver).  Even while ignoring signatures I cannot update windows or use any of the computers troubleshooting or assistance.
I have tried restoring a second time to no avail (got the exact same errors).  Any suggestions to getting this computer back to "out of the box?"  Or at least functional enought I can surf the web and work on my Excel charts?
    Thanks
    Loren

In another thread, a similar problem was solved by installing the Intel driver iata_enu.exe from here.

That's supposed to take care of a change in the hard drive's properties.

  • I cannot log into firefox and after I try I cannot remove the firefox exe process

I was uploading photos which didn't complete and after that I couldn't log into firefox. I tried the answers in the formats and deleted the parent control but cannot get to my firefox profile to add a new one to test if this will repair the situation. I am also not able to get updates for some of my security programs

I'm having the same issues, running Firefox 3.6.
After downloading Windows Updates for Vista, Hotmail has stopped working.
I can log on, but can't click on any messages.
None of the buttons work at all in Hotmail; it's completely frozen.
I have to log on using Internet Explorer.
I had the same problems with Firefox 4.0; Norton 360 wouldn't work properly with it, so I deleted it, and went back to Firefox 3.6.

  • Cannot open new finder window after upgrading to Maverick 10.9.2

    Hello friends,
I am experiencing a very strange issue.
I cannot access the contents of my files via the finder. I can access my files via open or save as from separate applications.
    I have tried the following:
Finder ---> New Finder Window (finder flashes or switches to an existing open application)
Double-clicking on existing folders (finder flashes or switches to an existing open application)
Double-clicking on the icon of my Macintosh HD (finder flashes or switches to an existing open application)
From Dock, click on downloaded document and choose "Open in Finder" (finder flashes or switches to an existing open application)
From iPhoto, select a photo, and select "Reveal in Finder" (nothing happens)
Restart machine has not fixed the issue
After several tries, I get an error displaying that there was an issue with the finder.
    I am running Maverick 10.9.2

Unfortunately, Finder is a part of OS level files. So, we have a couple of options.
First off, let's see if there's a software conflict somewhere. Boot into safe mode (boot the comptuer with the shift key held down) and try there. If it works in safe mode, odds are we either have a 3rd party KEXT or application blocking its launch. Check your login items (Apple -> System Preferences -> users & groups -> select your user -> login items), and disable them.
Also check your startup items (you'll have to do this in safe mode as it requires Finder).
    /library/startupitems
    If Safe Mode/removing startup/login items doesn't work:
First, boot in to the recovery partition (boot the computer with command + r held down). Launch disk utility, and repair both disk permissions and the disk. Reboot and try again.
If that fails, boot into recovery again, and reinstall.

  • Cannot log in to Windows; will not accept password

Shutdown my Windows 8.1 tablet last night normally with no unusual issues. Will not accept the password this am. Have checked to see that correct pword was entered.

I am having the same problem.  Have a Satellite C55-B5240 running Windows 8.1 that is only 2 weeks old.  Shut down last night and this morning cannot get past the log in screen.  Checked and rechecked the caps, the password, even went on to another computer and changed the password 6 times.  I can get on with any of the other pc's but not the new one. On-line-chatted with Microsoft and spoke to 3 different techs.  They all said the same things...it was beyond their expertise and I should contact Toshiba, get the Windows 8.1 key from them, and reload 8.1!!  Very funny.  I can't even get online let alone download anything.  They were no help whatsoever!  Spent 2 1/2 hours on chat with them.  I don't know what to do other than call Toshiba on Monday.

  • Cannot log in on Windows 10

When clicking login (with correct details) the button darkens and remains that way indefinitely. Reinstallation did not fix it. Administrator and compatibility options did not fix it either. I am using the official public release of Windows 10, this is not an account issue as logging in with incorrect details returns the "Wrong username/password" error. Here is what it looks like after clicking log in

    Hi,
I have tried to debug the problem using a computer that was upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, but didn't manage to reproduce it (I do not have any third-party anti-virus or firewall installed).
It is very likely that third-party anti-virus or firewall software is causing this problem after an upgrade (especially if multiple applications can't connect to the internet anymore).
An update to Windows 10, while choosing to keep installed applications, can cause problems, since anti-virus or firewall software usually operates on the system level (possibly installing drivers, which are incompatible with Windows 10).
I suggest to uninstall / re-install any third-party anti-virus or firewall applications, as well as network drivers.

  • Cannot transfer movies to phone after "Restore"

I ran a sync, then a restore on my Iphone, then re-synced, and none of my apps synced (they all disappeared). Now when I try to sync my Owned and Rented movies I get an error saying it cannot copy the movies "because it has already been transferred to another computer or device"
Well, that's wrong, it was synced to my Iphone before I ran the restore, and now I tunes doesn't recognize that my phone is the one that everything was transferred to before.
    How do I fix this?

Well, I have success (in a way). I got my laptop fired up and running again, with a fresh install of XP. I installed WMP0 and Y!ME and shared my previously downloaded songs directory on my main PC (the one that won't transfer) for Yahoo to access from my laptop, so it wouldn't have to re-download EVERYTHING I had already. Once I got all this going, I did have to re-license all the tracks I had downloaded (get 3 PC's to use on an account). Wasn't too hard to do that, just click-shift-click, right-click, relicense. Once all that was done, voila! It works like a charm! So, I still can't figure out what's corrupted or whatever on my main pc's XP install, but for now I have a working solution, and at some point I'll rebuild XP from the ground up on my main box so I can access my tunes from wherever.
Anyway, long story short, I've got lots o' new tunes on my Xtra that I can now listen to! Still can't figure out what's goofed on my other machine, but probably should have done this straight away without spending so much time trying to find the problem. Basically, it boils down to being the same problem that goofed up the Firmware install was the same problem I had after when trying to transfer files.

  • Ipod nano 7th gen cannot be detected by Itunes after restore

Following the recent death of my Macbook Pro (due graphic card problem) I've switched to my backup laptop and moved all my files to the windows 8.1 laptop. I knew that connecting my Ipod Nano (7th Generation) to the new laptop would result in losing all my playlist and music currently stored.
I needed to update my ipod's list with new things so I took the chance (innocently thinking that all I needed to do was just remake my playlists and re-sync it). Initially it started off well, but towards the later parts of restoring, iTunes gave an error saying that the restore could not be completed and led me to a thread on Apple Support. Following the steps, I disconnected my ipod and reconnected it. Nothing happened. Itunes did not recognize the ipod, and the ipod goes into a grey looking screen with a simple message that says okay to disconnect.
My question is, how am I suppose to restore my ipod, when itunes can't detect my ipod.
I've been struggling really badly with the loss of my Macbook Pro and now this. Can someone help me? Thanks in advance
Currently running on Windows 8.1 and iTunes version 11.4.0.18

    Hello there, lycusfenriz.
It can definitely be frustrating when your having trouble with multiple devices at the same time, but the steps in the article below may help with getting your iPod recognized in iTunes. The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great, in-depth recommendations for troubleshooting an iPod not being recognized in iTunes:
iPod nano (7th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4433
    Connectivity/syncing
Follow these steps if your computer doesn't recognize your iPod or you have issues with syncing your iPod.
iPod not recognized by iTunes or computer
Make sure you have installed the latest iTunes software from www.itunes.com/downloads. Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer. Your computer needs a USB 2.0 port or a USB 3.0 port to connect iPod nano. If you have a Windows PC that doesn't have a USB 2.0 port, in some cases you can purchase and install a USB 2.0 card.
If iPod nano is connected to a USB hub, try connecting iPod nano directly to your computer's USB port.
iPod nano might need to be reset. Reset iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and Home button until you see the Apple logo appear.
If you're connecting iPod nano to a portable computer using the Lightning Cable, connect the computer to a power outlet before connecting iPod nano.
Check the cable connections. Disconnect the cable at both ends and make sure no foreign objects are in the USB ports. Then reconnect the cable.
Try reinserting the Lightning connector into the iPod. The Lightning connector can be inserted either way.
    Try restarting your computer.
If none of these steps resolves the issue, you might need to restore the iPod nano software.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.
