Hi, I'm developing some reports using Crystal XI on my local PC, using an Oracle 10i back end on a separate server. The SQL for the report is in a method in an oracle package.
When I set the datasource location, selecting 'Oracle Server' then entering the details works fine, and the report runs. However, when I try to use an ODBC connection I get the following error:
Database Connection Error: 'Cannot obtain error message from server.'
The ODBC link is set up as a System DSN, which works fine when I test it. I think I need to use ODBC as some of the reports (which I inherited) seem to fail when run on the Crystal Server, and it seeme to be the ones set up with ODBC which work.
Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hi Mars-
It sounds like your NI-DAQ installation may have become corrupted. I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the DAQmx 7.4 driver to correct this problem and ensure that you're up to date. This download is available here: NI-DAQ 7.4
If the problem persists you may want to uninstall and reinstall LabVIEW and then NI-DAQ in that order. The error message will usually give an indication as to which VI the error occurred in. Please let us know which VI is failing if you're unable to avoid the error with these suggestions.

I am using Oracle stored procedures and I have used IN parameters for input and INOUT parameter of REF_CURSOR TYPE for returning resultset in Crystal Report 2008 by using package. Now when I am trying to add the package in the Crystal Report, parameter input box prompts, I enter some values and gets Database Connector error: 'cannot obtain error message from server'.
But when I do not use INPUT parameters and use OUT parameter of REF_CURSOR type it runs well without any issues.
We are using ODBC connection for Oracle.
Kindly suggest.

Confusing error message from iTunes when trying to use AirTunes

Hello everyone,
I figured since other folks might run into this issue that it's worth posting about, since it's both annoying, irritating, and none of the Apple support hints address it properly ...
If you're one of those folk like me who has to deal with corporate proxies for pretty much everything while at work, but don't have any local proxy issues at home, you might use something called Proxifier.
Be aware that the way it works (as a kernel module, intercepting socket calls and transparently mapping them through your defined proxy) will screw up iTunes unless you explicitly unproxy it (it implicitly proxies everything except what you tell it to).
The error message I kept getting was "The remote speaker is not compatible with your version of iTunes", and after spending 20 minutes or so with ktrace, watching socket calls, I gave Proxifier a poke and told it to stop proxying iTunes. Lo, and behold, AirTunes magic returned.
So if you use both of these applications, be wary of the interaction between the two, as it can be confusing and produce undescriptive and unhelpful error messages!

Hi,I'm using CR9 and try to use an Oracle stored procedure as a datasource for a report. But everytime I want to add the procedure to the report with the help of the database expert I get this error.I already searched for a solution, installed SP4 that should solve the problem --> nothing changed.Strange thing: when I connect directly to the Oracle Server (instead of ODBC), everything runs fine. You need smarter management.
If a software supplier suggests a patch, and the patch corrects something, then you need to apply it.
Implementing a test server is optimal of course. If they do NOT have one, then they must have a disaster recovey plan in place, if it breaks something else, implement it.
They sound like poorly thought out, fear mongering IT people that should be replaced.
I would write up an analysis that states that management will not implement the suggested solution.
In either case, I would get your resume in circulation

I have a SQL statement that wants to add a temp table to the database.   The SQL statement works fine but when I try to add it via 'Add Command' feature in Crystal XI R2, I get the following error message:
Database Connection Error: Cannot obtain error message from the server

I am using this in the 'Add Command' feature but I get the error message displayed in the subject line:
CREATE TABLE #TibetanYaks(
YakID char(4),
YakName char(20) )
INSERT INTO #TibetanYaks (YakID, YakName)
SELECT LastName, FirstName
FROM      Employee
WHERE      EmployeeID between '2000' and '3000'
I haven't tried to add this as a stored procedure but I imagine it will work as I have no problems yet with stored procedures. I simply want to be able to use temporary tables for the sole purpose of that session and not creating anything static in the database.
By the way, even though I get the error message, when I look on the backend database, I see that the temporary table was successfully created...its just not brought across correctly in Crystal.
Any ideas?

Error message from labview when trying to set up the DAQ assistant

I recieve a message from labview when I try to set up the DAQ assistant and select a channel to use. The error I get states "An exception occured within the external code called by a Call Library Node. This might have corrupted LabView's memory. Save any work to a new location and restart labview". Labview then freezes. I have reset the DAQ device in trying to slove this but I still get the same message. How do I solve this?? thanks - mars2006

NOTE: you must clear everything before re-entering your email account. That's what I didn't do last time, so probably why it didn't work first time round.

Error message from web - when opening pdf files

Hi,
I receive the following error message a lot when I try to open an educational pdf file from the web. What do I need to do to 1. see, 2. print and 3. save these type of educational pdf files from the web? I am using a MacBookPro OS X.

Yes i tried following your list of commands and got the same error from MyMathLab by Pearson Publishing or the other link. I'm beginning to wonder if they are protected.

I do not have a data plan, so when I am not connected to wi-fi I cannot recieve text messages from other people using an Iphone. I can recieve them once I turnn on imessage and am connected to wi-fi though. Why is this and what can I do to fix it??

Check Settings>General>Cellular to be sure you have Cellular Data set to On.

Are you able to download other PDF files? What browser are you using to download the file? Have you tried a different browser? If you're using Firefox or Chrome, please see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html
If you're unable to download any PDF files, consider reinstalling Reader.
