Cannot open .pdfs via Outlook or Adobe Reader, can't open Adobe Reader, can't uninstall it!

We have a new office desktop that will not open .pdfs or open Adobe Reader.  The version on the computer is 9.5.2.  When I try to install updates or install Adobe XI, the installation process stops before completion because it says Adobe 9.5 is currently being open.  But we can't open Adobe 9.5, and task manager does not even show the program as being open. 
I have tried uninstalling the program, but have been unable for the same reason.

You can try using this tool to remove all traces of previous version(s) of Reader:

Then, you may download the offline Reader installer from
http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

    Hello All,
    I am sending the output of a sales order as a PDF attachment via outlook mail.
    It wokrs fine. but only worry is the Chinese characters are appearing strange and not what we need.
    If I print / preview the output in SAP it shows the Chinese cha\racters correctly.
    What can be the reason ?  Please help.

    Why do I get the message "the application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect.  Reinstalling application may fix this problem" whenever I try to open a PDF file (both from Email and from Harddrive). I have Adobe Reader 9.  Does anyone have any clues?  Thanks.

    Uninstall, use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup tool to remove anything left in the Registry, then re-install.

    I have been having a problem for the past couple months whereby when I have Adobe Reader 9.3 installed on my machine and try to open PDFs within IE, I receive an error message (after some time of waiting) saying "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again". I did not have this problem with version 8.2 (and as a result I had to resort back to this version). However, I would like to have the latest version of Adobe Reader installed and have it working!
    After doing some diagnostics, I discovered that the problem seemed to only occur when I had Google Toolbar installed. If I uninstalled it completely (not just disabled it) the PDFs would display fine.
    Is there anything I can try to make the three of these compatible (Adobe Reader 9.3, Internet Explorer and Google Toolbar)?

    You can not save a form and data in Reader unless it has been activated with Reader Rights. That is an extra step. You do not need to save the form to submit the data. In Designer, the data is submitted in XML format. In Acrobat forms, the data would be submitted in FDF, XML, XFDF, or HTML format. XML and FDF can be imported to the form so you can see what the user saw when the form was submitted. If you activate Reader Rights, you may likely run into limits set in the license agreement. Read the EULA, section 15, before you go to far and find out you might be violating the license.
    I assume your submission is by e-mail the way it sounds. Be aware that has many problems and is not a reliable method for form submission. If you are doing forms for a business, you would likely not want to activate the Reader Rights and would want to submit the data to a web script to avoid the e-mail issues -- otherwise you might tick off customers and run them off.

  • Cannot create PDF via Postscript

    I am trying to create a postscript file from Photoshop CS3 via the Adobe PDF 8.0 Printer. The file needs to fit on tabloid size paper to accommodate the crop marks.
    I choose the PDF printer, create postscript file, distill it and open it in Pro 8.1.2 I get these colorful boxes all over the image.
    I keep getting the message, this is not a postscript printer, etc. when creating the postscript file.
    Leopard 10.5.2
    Intel Mac Quad Core
    Acrobat Pro 8.1.2
    Never had this issue before even when I used my non-postscript printers to create the ps file until I need it on larger paper. Thanks!

    There seems to be some problems with the PDF files created directly from PS CS3. Some of the text is leaving a white area behind it. The text is half white and half the color it is supposed to be. It is also not consistent with each file, though they are created the exact same way, same settings, etc.
    The printers have requested that I create a postscript file then Distill it to create the PDFs. They are requiring PDFX1a files, which is what I have always created directly out of PS bypassing Distiller until the complaint came in. I also need crop marks so saving as an eps didn't work.
    What I did find that worked is flatten the PS CS3 file and then create the postscript file.

    I cannot view a PDF file from 1 e-mail user in Outlook 2010.  My manager receives the same e-mail and he can view the attachment.  I can view the attachment on my web mail but not in Outlook 2010.  Our IT dept has uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook as well as other multiple things and we cannot correct the issue.

    Hi - re "cannot" - the email comes through and the size in Outlook indicates a file however there is no attachement(paper clip).  My managers are copied in the same email and they can view the attachment.  My IT dept has uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook 2010 and it does not resolve the issue.     I am creating an FDF and emailing it to a designated email address but I would really like the sender to get an automated response that the receipient got and read the email. I thought that I could use the read receipt feature in Outlook but I can't figure out how to turn that feature on automatically when the email is generated. Anyone know how to do this?

    You can't turn it on automatically because it is not a standard feature in all mail clients.
    Acrobat's e-mail feature doesn't support Outlook only - you have to think of the millions of Eudora, Thunderbird and Lotus Notes users out there. Some apps don't even support read receipts, and other handle it differently than Outlook.

    I have at&t internet and cannot send using my at&t email.  I can send via gmail.  Or if I go use someone elses internet, not being at&t, I can send. At&t said it is a mac issue. I told them it is their issue with macs since I can send using other providers.

    I have setup several email accounts using Business Catalyst. Ican access all of them through Webmail. and most of them via Outlook.
    one account hower shows issues via Outlook:
    * I can access it via Webmail.
    * I can send emails from Outlook
    * But I cannot receive emails on Outlook.
    Again, I can have the emails from other BC accounts, but not on this one. my incoming server port is 110, outgoing is 8025.

    For your record, or for future treatment, the email address that had issues was [email protected]; while simultaneously, on the exact same computer and outlook software, the address [email protected] was working properly and as expected.

  • Adobe reader cannot extract embedded font after pdf sent via outlook

    We have some pdf files that open fine in Adobe Reader 9.1.3.  Once we send them via e-mail (we use Outlook 2003), they will not open properly with the error message: "Cannot extract the embedded font 'TWDWSP+TradeGothic-Light.  Some characters may not display or print correctly."  When we click OK, another error message appears: "An error exists on this page.  Acrobat may not display the page correctly.  Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem."  If the files are sent in a ZIP archive, they open correctly, but not if sent individually as PDFs.  Can someone help?

    It's one of the reasons that it's not recommended to send a PDF via email without Zipping it first. Either the senders or receivers email client may use encoding to make the ransfer faster which can wreck PDF's.
    Best bet is to Zip (as you've seen) the file first or post it to a web space and email the link.
