Cannot play RTMP stream

I've searched the forum / Google a few times, tried all the simple solutions and I just can't find enough documentation to determine what the problem could be.
I have a FMS delivering a flv file via rtmp. I've confrmed the url is valid using Dreamweaver (to generate a main.asc) and throwing together a player in Flash.  Here's the flash vars supplied to swfobject:
var parameters = {
   src: "rtmp://anduin.oucpm.org/wagons2waivers/_definst_/segment1.flv" ,
   autoPlay: false ,
   width: 720 ,
   height: 486,
   controlBarMode: "none",
   urlIncludesFMSApplicationInstance: "true"
I've tried the source parameter (with "urlIncludesFMSApplicationInstance" both on and off):
rtmp://anduin.oucpm.org/wagons2waivers/_definst_/segment1.flv
rtmp://anduin.oucpm.org/wagons2waivers/_definst_/segment1
rtmp://anduin.oucpm.org/wagons2waivers/segment1
rtmp://anduin.oucpm.org/wagons2waivers/segment1.flv
I've tried this from a domain that is confirmed in listed in the crossdomain.xml on the media server (the admin does have it set to block domains that are't ours).
I'm out of ideas and Google is coming up flat. Any ideas? Only idea I have left is some server mis-configuration, or crossdomain.xml issue (though the swf is hosted in an approved domain).
Seriously could use some help...

I have the same problem as you! I can see the stream on any of my sites. But only on my computer! If someone else tries to open stream appears: "Timed out trying to Establish a NetConnection, or timed out due to idle NetConnection year 10000"! FMS console can see all the connections they make on my computer. When someone tries to open stream FMS console on another computer do not indicate any connection! I tried at least 10 crossdomain.xml files, I put in all folders, nothing yet! Tutorials on Adobe Flash Media Server does not contain explicit inserting pictures crossdomain.xml files! I'm sorry I bought Flash Media Server and can not use this program! The program is quite complicated, and tutorials are shallow! Video tutorials are not close at all!

  • BUG: RTSP cannot play live streams

Sun's RTSP implementation does not handle live streams. Live streams have a range with a starting time but no ending time. Looking at the source code of com.sun.media.content.rtsp.RtspUtil.setDuration(), there's no check for the possibility that the end time is not specified, so live streams will cause a NumberFormatException during RTSP parsing.
    Will this be fixed?

  • RTMP Streaming Works, HTTP Streaming Does Not

I am using the following to stream video live:
    - Windows Server 2008 with Flash Media Server 5.
    - Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2
    - This tutorial step by step to setup the manifests: Stream live multi-bitrate video over HTTP to Flash and iOS - YouTube
    - In FMLE the following settings:
         - H264 Format, Main Profile, Level 3.1, Keyframe freq 4, 150, 500 and 1000 kpbs bit rates.
         - FMS URL: rtmp://<my-static-ip>/livepkgr
         - Stream: livestream%i?adbe-live-event=liveevent
    - The liveevent.f4m and liveevent.m3u8 files are saved in the webroot folder
    - Built in administrator console OSMF video player, with the following URL: http://<my-static-ip>/livepkgr/liveevent.f4m
FMLE is saying it connects without issue and that it publishes, and the server shows that the stream is connecting in the admin console. The one thing that does not appear to work is playing the stream back itself. I've tried any number of different  URLS to play the stream, none work, they just give me a generic "We are having problems with playback. We appologize for the inconvenience." I know the stream connects because when I replace http://<my-static-ip>/livepkgr/liveevent.f4m with rtmp://<my-static-ip>/livepkgr/liveevent it plays the rtmp version.
Is there some further configuration I am missing on the server side? Something else I am missing?

Still nothing I can verify the embedded player is trying to access the stream URL I setup. I can still verify stream publishing in the admin console, but I cannot embed the video, still getting the same generic error.. I am streaming to my private server running Windows Server 2008 R2 that I host multiple sites with. I am beginning to think the URL doesnt recognize that I am trying to access the webroot folder for the manifests, but I don't know how to tell if this is the case or how to change this setting. Can anyone provide me an example of a proper html code to embed a video using the FMLE stream I am publishing that they can verify works with a similar setup to what I have?

  • RTMP Stream Not Found Error

I am having difficulty with some RTMP streams and my OSMF implementation. I am attempting to play a series of RTMP streams, but for some reason, I cannot play them with OSMF (Stream not found). They play fine in JWPlayer, but I am unable to get them to play in Strobe or my OSMF Player. However, my OSMF player does play other streams. I cannot figure out what the difference is. Here is what I have:
    Demo streams:
    rtmp://cp67126.edgefcs.net/ondemand/mp4:mediapm/ovp/content/demo/video/elephants_dream/elephants_dream_768x428_24.0fps_408kbps.mp4

    rtmp://cp67126.edgefcs.net/ondemand/mediapm/osmf/content/test/akamai_10_year_f8_512K
    Problem stream:
    rtmp://flash.delmar.cengage.com/DLvideo/00/03/32/33218.mp4
OSMF and Strobe players CAN play the demo streams.
OSMF and Strobe players CANNOT play the problem stream.
JWPlayer CAN play the problem stream and the demo streams.
I have tried setting the URLIncludeFMSApplicationInstance flag, I have tried removing the extension, and generally fiddling with the URL itself. I can change the protocol of the problem stream to 'http', and I get a progressive download which works in all players. Can anyone point me in a useful direction?

Lots of dropped frames and rebuffers. Is that a very high bitrate or wide ranging VBR? You might want to consider re-encoding.

  • TS5148 When I try to play a movie on Netflix from my IPad, I get a pop up saying: Cannot play video. "The connected display is not supported".

When I try to play a movie on Netflix from my IPad, I get a pop up saying: Cannot play video. "The connected display is not supported".  I have updated my Apple TV, tried restarting it, and have tried using my IPod Touch all without any luck. This display has worked in the past. This just happen a couple days ago.
    Any ideas out there?

I have been successfully using my Apple TV with my iPad2 to access Netflix through airplay (mirroring) and suddenly it won't work.  It says "the connected display is not supported"  What's up?
Also when I try to stream Netflix through my Apple TV menu on my television it says "An error occurred loading this content.  Try again later.  But trying again later doesn't work any better.
Now the only way I can watch Netflix is using my small iPad screen.  It appears the problem is with streaming Netflix through my Apple TV

  • Quicktime 7 won't play SDP streaming files

    Hi all,
We use a VBrick encoder to stream cable channels on our network. The files are mpeg4 format and are streamed using an *.sdp file.
The problem: A new install of Windows 2000 (with patches) and nothing else installed except Quicktime 7 - Quicktime 7 cannot play the SDP stream. After several seconds, Quicktime just returns an error -37 invalid file(?).
Thing is, I'm not sure what has been invalidated since the exact same URL in Quicktime 6 works great.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? I've tried all the obvious things (like uninstalling, reinstalling, disabling virus software, etc.)
For the time being, our work around is to simply use Quicktime 6, but at some point Apple will probably remove the installer to the older Quicktime versions.
    Thanks!

If QuickTime is set to play avi files in System Preferences, then the avi might not be one that QuickTime can play. There are several proprietary avi codecs. You might try VLC player or some other player that can play all the different kinds of avi codecs.

  • FLVPlayback issue loading RTMP stream

Hi, I'm currently having a problem with FLVPlayback refusing to play a stream from a certain site. The flvplayback was playing streams from a different remote site fine, the stream that it is attempting to play work in other AS2 FLVPlayback components on different sites using the same skin, and the stream is pointing to the right file. When tracing the FLVPlayback streams, the streams that work show the states buffering, playing while the stream that doesn't work only hits the state "loading." During the entire process no errors are thrown. When I run the FLVPlayback locally it has no trouble loading from either remote rtmp site.
    Thanks,
    Ed

Updated the FLVPlayback component with the very latest.
Updated my project from Flash 9 to Flash 10.
    It's working like a charm !

  • Buffering pauses and audio/video out of sync, single RTMP stream w/ simple embed

    Hello,
I am running Flash Media Server on my dedicated CentOS host, and finally connected a single RTMP stream fine and am able to embed and play back the stream, but I am getting constant buffering pauses (approx every 5 secs) and audio/video out of sync by at least 5 seconds. My CPU with Flash Live Encoder is a powerhorse, never over 25% processor or ram usage while streaming, and my upload internet speed is averaging 6-8 mbps which should be more than adequate. I fear the issue is server side, however port 1935 is open and in use, not firewalled on CPU nor the host.
    Any suggestions would be great.

    Hello,
Thanks for the reply, I am using embed code generated with Flash Media Playback, as follows:

  • Playing published streams through an administrator connection? (:1111)

    Hi all,
I am building a custom administration application which has to review streams published to our FMS application. This is to ban clients publishing inappropriate content. I am wondering if I have to make a connection to the application, as normal users do, in order to play the published streams? I am getting the list of streams using another connection, to rtmp://domain:1111/admin, like outlined in Administration API, and issuing the 'getLiveStreams' call.
The reason I am asking is because firstly, I remember that the Administration Console can play streams published to the server, but I don't recall it incrementing the connection count which shows amount of user clients connected to an application. Maybe I have missed however, but if I am right and it indeed can play streams without connecting to the application (which actually DOES sound a bit unlikely, given how the stream names are local to an app.), then maybe I can do it too? Secondly, I presently have to differentiate users and administrators in my 'onConnect' script, because are perform completely different roles. If I could relieve my admin. app from connecting to the application, I could also dump the role switching.
I am not sure what is the best thing to do here, frankly...

I am not sure how your linked post should help me. I have no problem connecting as an administrator to our own service.
My question is can I play streams through this administrator connection on port 1111, or like now, I have to keep a separate connection to the application in order to play application's streams?
I do NOT want to connect to the application, because I then am forced to become one of its "users", even though I am not - I am an admin. Even though I have implemented roles with my application server side script, whereas users connect with a bunch of parameters, I can connect with another role - as an admin, without parameters (because they do not apply to me since I only use the service for playing streams). Another reason is actually pretty annoying - even though I explicitly specify video sample access permission for both myself and any user that connects (in order to be able to take snapshots of the videos) using the "videoSampleAccess = '/'" expression, occasionally I STILL get security errors. I imagine if I somehow can bypass the security altogether. After all it is our server, and our users know that we need to monitor for unsuitable content. FMS makes it pretty hard to do so with the error listed above. The error is sporadic.
So I will ask again - can I play any stream I want of any application on my server, without connecting to the application instance as a regular user bound to security rules? I need some form of video administration, and I am NOT using Administration console, but a custom admin. application which does more than Admin console does, in particular kick out bad people.

how do I turn off the default radio in my music app.  I cannot play my playlist until it first defaults to radio and then I have to start all over. this is very tedious!!!

This got me curious when I first saw it... It does indeed seem very Un-Apple-like (at least historically) to prevent a user from customizing their own device - Mac or iDevice - but today I'm unsure. I cannot grasp how a UX designer could leave a simple "OFF" switch out of the control panel. Another thing that Music Data Streaming does is eat up your Data Plan.
This May  not be the exact issue as you describe, but seems to solve an issue of a Radio Playlist in iTunes resuming where it left off from the last use...

Play last song on list, songs will then stop.  Works for me on iPad. Haven't tried yet on iPhone.
It is likely that THIS may be part of the real reason to push the iTunes Radio feature - revenue stream (nobody remembers "Payola?"):

  • How to play live streaming video which is being streamed via http or rtsp

I am building an application which needs to display live mpeg2 video; the source of the live stream is over e network, e.g,http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xx:8080.
To see if QT had this capability, In QT for Open URL, I tried, rtsp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xx:8080 and http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xx:8080, but I am not able to see any video. (I tried setting my QT options per posts I have read)
Also, I'm able to see the live stream using Windows Media Player and VLC. (I used VLC to stream the video over the network and I tried streaming several formats but still could not see video in QT; when using rtsp, status of QT says negoiating and never transition from this state)
    Any advice on this topic?
    Thanks in advance

QuickTime will not play MPEG-2 content, streaming or otherwise, without the addition of the extra-cost MPEG-2 Playback Component. Even with that component, QuickTime cannot play all MPEG-2 streams. Read the FAQ carefully for details.

  • Decompose multiple videos in single RTMP stream

    Hello,
Our back-end developer is using GStreamer to stream videos, which are then translated from an RTSP stream to an RTMP stream via Wowza.  GStreamer is combining three videos and an audio track into a single stream with metadata about each video and the audio track.  At the moment, when the stream is opened, the three videos play overtop one another.  Is it possible to decompose the three videos into individual videos/streams and play them in three separate video players? (they will be controlled together, but need to appear in separate locations onscreen.  Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
