Cannot run loadjava on Solaris 10 64-bit server - wrong ELF class error

We are running into a problem when trying to run loadjava on a 10.2.0.3 database running on a Solaris 10 64-bit server.
loadjava -user xxxxx/xxxxx -verbose -resolve -force my.jar
creating : resource pea.properties
loading : resource pea.properties
ld.so.1: oracle: fatal: /var/db/10.2.0/lib32/libskgxp10.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32
The LD_LIBRARY_PATH does not have the lib32 directory on it, it has /var/db/10.2.0/lib instead.
Any idea on what to do?

Hi,
Correct. The note specify general recommendations for setting the environment. The utility loadjava is not an exception.

  • Wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64 when trying to start HTTP Server

    Oracle11gR1 Database on OEL 5 64bit with Oracle10gR3 (10.1.3.3.0) Application Server
    I have finished installing Oracle Application Server and in the end it fails to bring up HTTP Server. I checked the logs and saw the following:
    /opt/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/http_1/ohs/bin/apachectl startssl: execing httpd
    /opt/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/http_1/ohs/bin/httpd: error while loading shared libraries: libgdbm.so.2: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
    I am thinking that it could be a 32bit vs. 64bit libraries. I have tried to create some links but still no luck. Below are the current links that I have in the /usr/lib and /usr/lib64 directories.
    1. /usr/lib
    # ls -al libgdbm*
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 Sep 3 09:47 libgdbm.so.2 -> libgdbm.so.2.0.0
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 26792 Sep 3 09:41 libgdbm.so.2.0.0
    2. /usr/lib64

    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Sep 3 10:19 libgdbm.so.3 -> /usr/lib64/libgdbm.so.2
    Thank you.

    My OEL 5 also had the gdbm package installed, but only the 64bit version.
    I've installed the i386 version also and now it works.
    To check to which dynamic libraries a binary will use you issue the command ldd <binary>
    Then you could check to which he will be linked.
    Be aware that library resolving could be influenced by environment variables which will sometime also be set(overwritten) by the calling script.

  • Cannot run loadjava

    loadjava does not seem to work for me on RHAT 6.2 and DB version is EE 8.2. When I go to $ORACLE_HOME/bin, I can see the loadjava utility throught ls command. The following commands do not run loadjava, but issue out error - no such file or directory. Can anyone please help.
    1) loadjava - error is no such file or directory
    2) ./loadjava - error is no such file or directory
    3) u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.6/bin/loadjava - same error
    Thanks.

    hi,
    I found it. Go to $ORACLE_HOME/JRE/bin. There is loadjava command. It is script. Edit script in your favourite editor and change first line, it looks like this:
    #! /bin/ksh
    but should be
    #! /usr/bin/ksh.
    It is correct for my machine. I use Corel Linux I aka Debian. To be sure try this:
    $ which ksh
    /usr/bin/ksh
    $

  • Running Multiple JVM's on same Server has OutOfMemory - PermGen Errors

    I have a scenario where I have 2 application servers. One is running one JVM and the other is running multiple JVMs.
    Both are configured with:
    -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC
    -XX:+UseParNewGC
    -XX:MaxPermSize=256m
    -XX:+CMSPermGenSweepingEnabled
    -XX:+CMSClassUnloadingEnabled
    The server that is running with only 1 JVM runs stable, however the server that is running multiple JVMs has frequent crashes due to OutOfMemory - PermGen errors. The only other difference is the Heap size. 512mb for each JVM on the app server with multiple instances and 1GB for the server with 1 instance. Is there a relationship/settings that need to be tuned when running multiple JVM's on the same server to avoid this?
    Thx

    The only other difference is the Heap size. 512mb for each JVM on the app server with multiple instances and 1GB for the server with 1 instance.This isn't a trivial difference. Basically you're saying "When I give the server 1 GB then it's okay but when I give it 512 MB it's not okay." If I saw those symptoms I would take them at face value to start with.
    So, turn off one of those servers on the machine that has two. Don't change anything else. Testable prediction: That won't fix your problem.

  • How to get GD library to work on 64-bit server.. tips...

    After several days struggling, I have successfully managed to install the GD libraries on Leopard 64-bit Xserve and I want to share my experience.
    First, I’m NOT AN EXPERT but I hope this posting may help people !
    Just a reminder, my experience is for a 64-bit SERVER running PHP Version 5.2.4, MySQL 5.0.45. Apache 2.2 (all out-the-box Leopard functionality).
    The instructions/tutorials for doing this can be found at: http://osx.topicdesk.com. You will need to follow (1) “Installing GD on OS X Server 10.5.x” and (2) “Adding the GD Extension to PHP5 on OS X Server 10.5.x”. These are VERY WELL WRITTEN and CLEAR, WELL DONE topicdesk.
    However, as the instructions clearly state you need a “basic understanding of the terminal”.
    For the 64- bit build, you need to set various shell variables, e.g. MACOSXDEPLOYMENTTARGET, CCFLAGS. These are used by the “configure” script.
    Now, a quick lesson in UNIX. UNIX has several shells or command-line interpreters, for example sh or bash, and the way variables are “passed across” to scripts differ.
    This is important and is the clue/magic for getting the instructions to work for 64-bit. YOU NEED TO ENSURE THE VARIABLES ARE BEING PASSED ACROSS TO THE SCRIPT by (in my case for bash) using the export command.
    These were MY steps, they worked for me:
    1. I logged in as root (shock-horror) using su.
    2. I switched to the bash shell by typing the command bash.
    3. Using the topicdesk documentation, I then created the following script called “gd_setenv.sh” to set up the shell variables. NOTE the “export” at the end of the line ! I also had to remove a spurious space in one of the parameters.
    MACOSXDEPLOYMENTTARGET=10.5; export MACOSXDEPLOYMENTTARGET
    CFLAGS="-arch ppc -arch ppc64 -arch i386 -arch x86_64 -g -Os -pipe -no-cpp-precomp"; export CFLAGS
    CCFLAGS="-arch ppc -arch ppc64 -arch i386 -arch x86_64 -g -Os -pipe"; export CCFLAGS
    CXXFLAGS="-arch ppc -arch ppc64 - arch i386 -arch x86_64 -g -Os -pipe"; export CXXFLAGS
    LDFLAGS="-arch ppc -arch ppc64 -arch i386 -arch x86_64 -bindatload"; export LDFLAGS
    4. Your will then need to make the script executable by chmod +x gd_setupenv.sh
    5. Now run it. NOTE THE SPACE AFTER THE FIRST DOT. This will set the variables up in the current shell environment.
    bash-3.2$ . ./gd_setup.env
    6. Check it (note the dollar sign at the start of the variable name !). This should display 10.5
    $ echo $MACOSXDEPLOYMENTTARGET
    7. Follow the topicdesk instructions. DO NOT LOGOUT or exit the bash shell between steps as this will loose the shell script variables.
    8. As per the topicdesk instructions don’t forget to edit the php.ini file.
    I hope this helps,
    john
    p.s. once again I'd like to thank topicdesk for their VERY USEFUL tutorials.

    I think you need lib32-gtk-engines.
    EDIT: Never mind doesn't work for me either, lib32-gtk-engines fixes only the wrong elf class message.

  • Webutil on Solaris 64 bit

    All,
    Has any one implemented webutil on Solaris 64 bit server. We are having issues with it in both Development Suite and Forms 10g environment.
    Thanks
    Akshaya

    Thanks Arun.
    We were in touch with Oracle support for last 6 months. We are told we found 2 new bugs in Forms 10g.
    1. A demo form with a sub-class (of either webutil or calendar) is not recognized by the compiler (frmcmp) on a 64-bit Solaris server.
    2. While doing a sub-classing on 64-bit Solaris server, we are getting core dumps.
    So, my original questions comes back, has any one implemented Forms 10g on Solaris 64-bit system.
    Thanks

  • Group tree navigation script error - 64 bit server

    Hi,
    We have crystal reports embedded into our WPF application. The WPF application resides on 64-bit server with windows server 2008 OS. When trying to run a report and use the group tree navigation we are getting a script error. This is happening only when we run the report in 64-bit server. We tested the same report on a 32-bit server and everything works fine. Attached is the screen shot of the same.

    Always, always quote the exact version of CR used and the version of .NET. No sense even guessing without that info...

  • How to diagnose rapid memory growth in Solaris 10 java server application

    Hi,
    We have a production java based server that experienced large memory growth recently and we are looking for help in diagnosing what might be the cause. The memory footprint of this java server application is limited to 120M using the jvm -Xmx switch. The server process size held consistently at around 180M until an event happened that caused the process size to rapidly increase to aprox 3G. We used the java jstat command to check the application heap usage within the jvm was within the specified limits.
    This application can be performs java Runtime exec's to run simple shell scripts from a variety of java threads in the server app.
    We have attempted to search for a cause by analysing the output of the pmap, pfiles, and pstack commands but have been unsuccessfull at this. We have also attempted to run the libumem.so library with the application in the hopes of using mdb to find out where the heap usage is. Unfortunately when we followed the instruction on using limumem the application stopped working due an ELF error.
    The following are what we used for libumem:
    LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libumem.so
    UMEM_DEBUG=default
    UMEM_LOGGING=transaction
    export LD_PRELOAD UMEM_DEBUG UMEM_LOGGING
    <run the application>
    The error we got is:
    ld.so.1: nohup: fatal: /usr/lib/libumem.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32
    We are looking for advice on how to proceed in finding the cause for this growth. In addition to the diag info below we have captured the core file for the application from gcore. The following is the output from pfiles, pmap, pstack, and the showrev command.
    Any help/suggestions appreciated.

    I was finally able to reproduce this problem where I observed that within a 5 minute time span the jvm process grew from around 180M (VS) / 100M (RSS) to 2G (VS) / 1G (RSS). Here are some samplings at the end of my dtrace run showing the largest allocations that were made. We suspect this might be a JVM bug (since jstat reports our heap is well below the 120M limit we specified). Do you have any suggestions on how we might resolve this issue ?
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • After 10.6.7 update cannot run any programs!

    Everything was fine yesterday on 10.6.6 Updated this morning to 10.6.7 via Software Update. All went fine. Restarted and now cannot run Finder, Safari, iTunes etc etc ALL crash with unexpected error. Repaired disk in Safe mode but no change. Any ideas?

    Because I've had strange problems with past system update downloads, I now always get my system updates from http://support.apple.com/downloads/
    I always use the Update Combo version. It installs a fresh set of all previous updates as well as the new one. This gives you a fresh beginning with system 10.6.x. Since I adopted that practice, I've had no more issues with updates.

    You're welcome.
    There are two things that will tell you if you don't have enough 32 libraries installed that you need. Either you'll get complaints about wrong ELF class, or trying to execute an existing binary will throw the "No such file or directory" error.
    If the above solution worked for you, please mark this thread as solved.

  • Error launching office client : Cannot run the macro 'RegisterEPMXIIFn'

    Error launching office client : Cannot run the macro 'RegisterEPMXIIFn'
    I've been receiving the above error since last week. I've adjusted the macro settings in excel and tried reinstalling the epm addin numerous times and up till now i haven't managed to get it resolved. Really need someone to help me on this. Whenever i check in excel, the epm add-in is already enabled. Please let me know how else can i get to resolve this.

    Dear Rudy,
    Indeed, could you please try the following suggestions:
    In the Internet Explorer, go to : Tools->Internet Options-> Security->Custom Level, in section “Download”, check if the option “Automatic prompting for file downloads“ is enabled
    In Excel, go to Excel Options-> Trust Center-> Trust Center Settings-> Macro Settings: check the
    options “Disable all macros except digitally signed macros” and "Trust access to the VBA project object model"
    Regards,
    Siwar

  • "The Server Encountered an Internal Error" XT65/75

    hi
    I am developing a httpconnection which send two parameters on a database on a server through a servlet.I have compiled the midlet and downloaded it on the module.I try to run it through AT command (at^sjnet,at^sjra).
    I used "post" method for sending the data.But when running the program I get "the server encountered an internal error".I checked the log file on the ApacheTomcat webserver and it says:

    I would be glad if anybody could help me.it would be really appreciated.

    Sometimes a quick trick to try is to do a <CFABORT> on
    the first line of code..run it, nothing will happen, then take it
    out.. and when you run it again you'll probably get the detailed
    diagnostics that'll tell you what it's not happy about.
    Otherwise...just progressively comment out code until it
    starts working, and you've isolated where the issue is.
