Cannot Share via Email

When I try to share a photo via email, iPhoto begins processing, I get a message that iPhoto is preparing the photo for email. My computer then opens Mail, but then I get an error message under the finder. The error says "Mail Got an Error: Can't make class outgoing message."
Any ideas?

What are your settings for email in the iPhoto Preferences? You may want to switch from iPhoto as an email client to Mail.app - see Old Toad's post here:
Re: iPhoto will not email from share saying that the 'server does not recognise the username/password combination'. My email account is working fine. Whats happening!

  • Share via email & twitter not working on iOS7

When I try to share via email in Safari the email never sends. I enter an email address that I know works, and it looks like it's sending but it never ends up in my mailbox. I've shared via email successfully from other apps (like Pocket) and I've checked the spam folder but the email doesn't appear to have ever actually been sent.
Oddly I also cannot send via Twitter from Safari or Pocket, both give me a "connection failed" error.
This has been happening since I got an iPhone 5c (running ios7) to which I restored the data & settings from my iPhone 4 running ios6).
    Help!

I have exactly the same problem. Do you (or has anyone else) figured this out? Thanks ...

  • Pages document will not share via email

After completing a document in Pages and then want to email it, I click Share via email and then Word. Nothing happens. Not even an error message.
    Any ideas about why?

When you attempt to send an IOS Pages v1.7+ (older Pages ’09 format) document via gmail, it arrives with the file extension .pages, and if Pages v5 is installed, the attached document acquires the new icon style.
Within Apple Mail, you can hover over the horizontal line and with selection of the paperclip icon, you can open the .pages attachment with Quick Look. Again, if you have Pages v5 installed, the Open with Pages button in Quick Look will use that as a default version with the following cautionary dialog. If you press and hold on that Quick Look Open button, it will appear as the Finder's open with menu and you can choose to open in Pages v4.3.
When you originate the .pages document from IOS Pages v2+ (new format compatible with Pages v5 on OS X), and choose to send it via Gmail (or iCloud), it will arrive as filename.pages.zip. This is a compressed file format that Pages v5 cannot access without first uncompressing it.
If you revisit the original second paragraph above, Quick Look will show you a large compressed icon dialog. However, there is an uncompress button in the upper right that will open a new Finder window with the original .pages and .zip files within it. You can then select the .pages document and click Open with Pages. By default, this document will open in Pages v5 if installed, or fail in Pages v4.3 with the following warning dialog because of a document format mismatch. Anything Pages v5 opens is poisoned for subsequent Pages ’09 v4.3 access, unless first exported as Pages ’09 from within Pages v5.
And intuitively, it is pointless to send a .pages document via email to anyone without the proper version of Pages installed.

  • I have a large PDF that I cannot send via email because of its size, 76 MB. How do I shrink this file or convert it to another format so I can email this, less than 20MB? Thanks for your help

I have a large PDF that I cannot send via email because of its size, 76 MB. How do I shrink this file or convert it to another format so I can email this, less than 20MB? Thanks for your help

Open the file in Preview and select "Save as..." from the File menu. Select "Reduce File Size" from the Quartz Filter menu and save. The size probably won't be reduced enough, though. You may have to split the file into several parts and mail them separately. Or upload it to a web server and send the link.

  • Share via email option - can more stationery be added or downloaded

I use the share via email option quite frequently. When you get the step where you select the background stationery I'm always frustrated that there aren't more options. Case in point - Christmas background? Halloween background? Can more stationery be added or downloaded or customized? Am I the only one with this problem?

Ok... so I'm an idiot: in Pages it works fine - I mistook the grayed out 'send via email' option for a normally clickable item, while it's just a header for the three (non-grayed-out) formats which you can send via email.
The problem stands for Word for Mac though - I promise!
    thanks again

  • Share via email function missing in Pages

I use the share via email function 100+ times a day. I'm a power user with it and my business work efficiency depends on it as most of my clients work with MS Office.
Now that share via email function is completely missing in Page 5.5 (Yosemite). Did they remove it!?!?!?
Now have to export as a Word Doc, save it, open email and attach it. Very frustrating.
I use a 2010 Macbook Pro with everything up to date on it. I have not upgraded to iCloud Drive, as I want to manually retrieve all my iPad documents and back it up before activating that feature.
    Any insights?
    Thanks,
    Lisa Ann

    Hello LisiAnni,
The Share feature was not removed. It is located in the toolbar and looks like a box with an arrow pointing up next to the tips button. Take a look at the links below for how to do this and if you are missing that button, you can add it back by following the second article.

  • Share via email does not work

Trying to SHare Via Email a pages document as a PDF and after clicking "PDF" nothing happens....help..

On my system, Mail.app comes to the top and a new message opens with the PDF attached.
Is Mail your default mail app? If not, Export to PDF and attach the PDF to the mail message of your favorite mail client.

  • All of sudden my iphone 4s any picture I take outside I cannot forward via email or text and I can only see it, in the camera roll. When I try to open the picture full screen it is blank. Anyone have any ideas to fix it?

all of sudden my iphone 4s any picture I take outside I cannot forward via email or text and I can only see it, in the camera roll. When I try to open the picture full screen it is blank. Anyone have any ideas to fix it?

Close out of the camera app, double tap the home button and completely close out of the app.
Then do a reset, no data loss.  Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
Then check your camera roll again.

  • Can't share via email from Preview Share button

I'm running Yosemite. I have Outlook for Mac (newest version, 15.6) set up as my default mail application. In the Share button menu, the Email option appears properly. However, when I attempt to share a document via email within Preview using the Share button,  I merely get an error alert tone. All other Share options (Messages, etc.) work fine. I am able to Share via Email from other apps without a problem. The problem seems to lie within Preview.  I've tried resetting Preview to the best of my knowledge by deleting the plist, etc. Any other ideas?

Thanks. Yes, I've done so. The Outlook icon does appear in the Share menu, but when I click on it, I only get the alert tone.

  • Iphoto can't share via email; error message: Your email did not go through because the server did not reply.

I can never share via email, using iPhoto. The error: Your email did not go through because the server did not reply. always pops up. I have no problems with my server or internet connection.
    Any ideas?
    thanks.

Go into iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and delete the   email account there. Then add it back.  If that fails you can select Mail as your email client in iPhoto as that's more reliable and flexible.  It also offers stationary for photos that are not unlike those in iPhoto's client:
and using Mail as the client will allow you to have a Sent copy automatically.

  • Pages 09...Share via email

Trying to share via email in Pages 09. This option is grayed out.
    Operating Mountain Lion 10.8.2.
    Is there a compatibilty problem?
    Thanks

Bad user interface design by Apple.
The greyed out item is actually a heading for the choices below them.
Apple should have made the choices a pop out menu, but I think this was done by the unpaid intern.

  • IPhoto wont share via email. What to do?

iPhoto's share function via email wont respond. It gives me the option to choose the size of the photo to be emailed but when I hit the "compose message" button, nothing happens. No error message. Nothing.
I'm using Outlook. All software are up to date.

You're correct Larry.  For a more detailed description of a viable work-around for sending photos from Photos until the software involved is fixed, see this thread:

  • Share via email with outlook

Hi All, how do you change the share via mail / PDF to work with outlook for MAC.
I have set Outlook to be my default email client but i want all my iwork apps to work with Outlook and not mail.
Is there a way to change this or are we locked into Apples products ?
    Thanks

You look in the apps User Guide.
So you will learn that you may export the document in a PDF stored where you want then drag and drop the PDF in the email client which you choose.
You are free to use a  M...oSoft product (you may replace the periods by "red") but there is absolutely no reason why Apple would offer a direct link between an iWork application and this foreign one.

To be the AW6 successor, iWork MUST integrate a TRUE DB, not a list organizer !

  • Sharing photos from iphoto 11, why does the photo information not upload when I click with share via email?  How can I make sure the photo information and location are shared when the photo (s) are shared.

When I go to share photos in iPhoto 11, The photos transfer to the email I'm sending but the photo information and location don't.  The older version of iPhoto did it, why not this version?  What am I missing in the process of sharing via email?, Thank You.

When you share to email do you get the following dialogue:

  • I want to turn my video on my Mac into a URL link to share via email

Just trying to share one of my videos via email.  Would like to turn it into a URL link and send it,

Hi, there are several things needed before that would work, your outside IP & maybe Port Forwarding if more than on computer is on your Modem.
You can find your outside IP here... what's my ip...
    http://www.whatsmyip.org/
Then you'd need to setup file sharing & likely want the video in your Shared folder.
Putting it on YouTube or some other video sharing site may be easier.
