I have reconfigured, retyping the correct user and password many times now. I can log into the database from the server using SQL Plus with no issues. If anyone has an idea of what could be wrong, I would really appreciate the help.
Thanks!

I had the DBA create me a new empty database user. I ran the config tool again using this user/pwd and selected first time configuration of database. This finished successfully, 213 objects were created in the database. When I try to start the dimension server, I am still getting the ORA-1017 error.

    Hi,
    I believe this happens when you have a problem with your datasources or instances, if you have two conflicting ones then the process manager will not start up.
    Can you check your planning instances and datasources and remove any duplicates or ones that could be conflicting.
    Cheers

    Check how many parallel processes are defined for this DTP.
    display the DTP in RSA --> in menu bar click on "goto" --> "settings for batch manager"
    In the next screen you will get the number of processes assigned to this DTP.
    When you are running this DTP, check these many background processes are available in your system.
    If you want you can decrease this number9by default it will be 3)

  • Cannot start BPM process, "Start process" button is disabled: Why?

    Dear all,
    I am working on the BPM example "Modeling Your First Process with SAP NetWeaver Business Process Management" with the "Purchase process". I did everything as mentioned in the tutorial.
    At the end, I would like to start the process using
    NWA > Configuration management > Processes and Tasks > Process Repository
    I can see my WD example that I have deployed and I see the my task definitions and my process definition. In the tutorial it says, that I can select the process definition and click "Start process". But the button "Start process" is always disabled. I cannot click the button. I don't know why. Did I miss something?
    I am logged in as Administrator. I am using NW AS 7.2 and I am developing with NWDS 7.1 SP04.
    Anyone has an idea what can I do to start the process?
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for the link.
    I added the new context attribute in the XSD files (under Process Modeling > Data Types > XSD Files).
    Since I added a new context attribute "Comment" of type String in my Web Dynpro, I added the following on the corrent position of the XSD files:
                             <xsd:element name="Comment" type="com.sap.dictionary.string">
                   <xsd:annotation>
                        <xsd:appinfo>
                             <xsd:attribute name="ReadOnly" type="xsd:boolean" fixed="false"/>
                                                                          </xsd:appinfo>
                   </xsd:annotation>
              </xsd:element>
    I also edited input and output mapping of the human and automated activities to support the new attribute "Comment". I thought this is enough to pass the new "Comment" parameter from activity to activity.
    But when I started the process, I filled in the comment field in Web Dynpro and went to the next step in the process. Seems like the new attribute value for "Comment" got lost. It does not appear in the next process step.
    Did I miss something?
    These are the steps I did:
    - edit Web Dynpro UI to support the new context attribute "Comment". created new input field and mapped to the Comment context attribute (that is defined in my WDP interface).
    - edited XSD files (one for each human activity) to support the new Comment attribute as mentioned above.
    - edited the mapping between the activities to support pass-through of the new Comment attribute between the activities
    But it seems like it's not saved in the context attribute "Comment". It got lost after the first step.
    Any ideas?

  • Cannot start OC4J process using opmnctl

    opmn startall hangs and times out with error on OC4J_SECURITY
    Posted: Oct 3, 2008 9:46 AM Reply
    FYI.
    A few days ago our system drive, on our Development system, crashed and we had to rebuild it.
    All of our Oracle Installations remained intact,
    But
    I've had to: modify kernel parameters, install packages, etc., similar to pre-install procedures.
    After re-creating some of the oracle specific files in the /etc and /usr/local/bin directories
    I've been able to get our databases up and running.
    But
    I cannot start all of the necessary processes for our Application Server.
    It hangs for several minutes then returns this error message:
    ias-component/process-type/process-set:
    OC4J/OC4J_SECURITY/default_island
    Error
    --> Process (pid=6304)
    time out while waiting for a managed process to start
    Log:
    /oracle6/app/oracle/product/10.1.2as/opmn/logs/OC4J~OC4J_SECURITY~default_island~1
    There is no helpful information in the, above mentioned, log file.
    opmnctl status displays this information:
    ias-component | process-type | pid | status
    ======================================
    OC4J | OC4J_SECURITY | 0 | NONE
    ??? My thoughts are:
    1. I've neglected to re-create a necessary Oracle specific file on the system drive, or
    2. This is a port access issue due to firewalls or something of that nature.
    Can you please help me here?
    Thanks- Gary

    Thank you for the info.
    Also
    I forgot to add one additional thought:
    Could it be a linking issue, to some of the library files??
    I don't know why this thought has crossed my mind,
    but I know in times passed, (probably from years ago), I have had to do a relink of some sort to resolve
    whatever issue it happened to be at the time.
    I'd appreciate you thoughts on the 'relink' idea.
    In the meantime, I will double check myself on having satisfied all of the necessary install requirements.
    Thanks again- Gary

  • Unable to start Oracle Process Manager from the windows services for OBIEE

    Hi,
    I have OBIEE 11g installed on a 32-bit windows machine. Of the two windows services installed, I am unable to start the Oracle Process Manager. When I try to start it I get the following error:
    Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request  in a timely fashion.
    At the back end, this service is calling the file opmn.exe which is placed at MIDDLEWAREHOME\Oracle_BI1\opmn\bin. On trying to execute this file the error we get is:
    The procedure entry point longjmp could not be located in the dynamic link library orauts.dll
    I have tried replacing the orauts.dll file, but to no avail.
    Please let me know if you have any clue regarding what is to be done.
    Thanks
    Naman

    Hi Naman,
    This error occurs for the following reasons,
    *Path variable is not set properly
    *Multiple Oracle homes exists in the same machine.
    Follow the below steps and let me know if it works,
    1. Select My Computer -> Right Click -> Properties
    2. In the System Properties screen go to Advanced Tab
    3. Click on Environment Variables
    4. In the System Variables section select PATH variable & Click edit
    5. Now you will find that it will contain invalid directories. Remove the incorrect entries. This may happen when you have multiple oracle homes in the same machine
    6. Restart the service.

  • Unable to start Oracle Process Manager Service

    I installed EPM 11.1.2.1 on Windows 2008 R2.

  • Unable to start Oracle Process manager (instance1) service.

    But if I try through the command prompt 'opmnctl start' it works just fine. The problem is now I have to stay logged into the machine, if I log out opmn shuts down.
    This is happening on two servers we have this installed on. Windows Server 2008 (NOT R2) 24gb ram. Otherwise it is running just fine.
    Very little help on google for this issue. Any help would be great.

    Sorry if I was not clear on my issues, but it is when I try to start the windows service, (Oracle Process Manager (instance1), that I get this error in the Event Logs.
    Does anyon know the difference between the commands for starting this service through Windows Services and 'opmnctl start'?

    For some reason, the "Hyperion Role" in the database does not include "CREATE VIEW" privileges. The configuration log showed failed statements at the lines that were CREATE VIEW. The Event Log showed the same message as was indicated above.
    When we were searching for a solution, we came across this post.

  • Cannot start job with Management Console

    Hi,
    The Management Console displays the status of batch jobs started with DI Designer, but when attempting to run a  batch job via the Management Console nothing happens.
    The execute command displays "Job started successfully", but does nothing.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Meet

    Hi Meet,
    Do execute the job again from Central Management Console and go to following path
    C:\ProgramData\SAP BusinessObjects\Data Services\log
    Here in the log folder you will find those many number of folders with job server names as there are job servers in your server.
    Go to the respective job server folder(which is used to run your particular job).
    In this folder you can find, all the repository folders associated with that job server.
    Go to the respective repository in which you have the job.
    Here comes the best part.In this repository folder Data services created 6 files for every job execution, which are
    ERROR_DATE_NUMBER(.txt,and .idx)
    MONITOR_DATE_NUMBER(.txt and .idx)
    TRACE_DATE_NUMBER(.txt and .idx)
    Open the trace.txt file which has been created recently.(check date and time after running your job).
    Now this file will tell you whether the job has been executed, started and stopped due to some error or never executed.
    Case1:
    If there's a trace.txt file then job had started
    Case2:
    If it executed successfully then you will find the start and end time stamps in the trace.txt file.
    Case3:
    If there's an error, open the recent error.txt file, you'll find the error log!!
    Hope this will help you. Do update the status of your issue!!
