Cannot start sun webserver if Access Manager component is present in magnus

We have a Oblix 7.02 installation on Solaris 9 with sun one web server 6.1. I am unable to start the web server if there is Access Manager components in magnus.conf. If I delete the Access Manager part from magnus.conf then the server starts fine but then I am unable to access Access Server Console or Access Manager. I ran the EditObjConf on a fresh obj.conf and magnus.conf but still the issue remains.
Here is the error when I try to start the web server:
Status:
[https-identityadmin.xx.com]: start failed. (2: SSL_ERROR_NO_CERTIFICATE: unable to find the certificate or key necessary for authentication)
[https-identityadmin.xx.com]: Sun ONE Web Server 6.1SP1 B12/19/2003 22:19
[https-identityadmin.xx.com]: failure: server initialization failed
Error
An error occurred during startup.
The server https-identityadmin.xx.com was not started.
Thanks.

When I reinstall Access Manager I get the following error:

    Hi All,
I am having exactly the same problem with the same stack trace. Has anybody have an idea how to fix this?
I have downloaded the Java Identity Management Suite.(java_es-5-identsuite-ga-windows-x86.zip) The first time installation was fine and I was able to bring the Access Manager console. I was able to create users groups etc.
However, when I uninstalled and installed it again, I got exactly the same error described in the thread. Running "amserver start" and "amserver restart" did not help. I did the installation one more time
but again I got the same error.
    Thanks for the help.

I have made proper entries in hosts file and resolve.conf file.
But duing the first phase of installation only , i failed in configuring access manager 7.1
I have also cerate same scenario in my test environment, but everytime i face the same error.
and sun java access manager 7.1 fails in first stage of installation only.

    Hi,
From your description, it should be the permission issue.
Make sure you logon with an account that have administrator privilege to start the service.
And then open the command prompt with administrator, run this command:

  • When I close Firefox (3.6.10) by using the x in upper right and then try to start it later, I get message FF is running, you must close first..which I thought I did. Cannot start without using Windows Task Manager and closing process. What is wrong?

See original question. Firefox apparently doesn't close when using the x in upper right corner as when I try to start it again I get a message that FF is already running and I must close it first. I thought the x would do that. Is something set wrong or corrupted?

  • Access Manager 7.1, Webserver 7.0 and Policy Agent 2.2 Logging behaviour

    Hi,
I have a cluster setup with access manager (2 instances currently). I have a single webserver running access manager policy agent which points to the access manager cluster. Everything works fine, until the Agent session times out, whereupon it can no longer log to the access manager cluster.

Investigation in the access manager logs shows that the agent session is no longer valid. As a result, I have two questions:
    1. How can I make it stop trying to log remotely ? I have this set in the AMAgent.properties: com.sun.am.log.level = all:4
    2. How do I exclude agents from the default session expiry times ?
    Regards,
    Michael Ward.

    1. Set com.sun.am.policy.agents.config.audit.accesstype = LOG_NONE
    2. Not sure if I understand this. Typically agent itself has to authenticate with the server and that agent session doesn't get expire anytime soon.

  • Securing web services with Sun Access Manager

    Hi!
I have gone through some documentation about Sun Access Manager, and I'm a little bit confused.
What I want is to secure some web services which are deployed on a BEA WebLogic 9.1 server (WLS). Two solutions are possible: To install some kind of plugin into WLS or to place some kind of proxy in front of WLS. In both cases, the purpose would be to authenticate the caller based on some kind of ticket (SAML or similar) and authorize access to the web service.
I have read about the "Sun Java System Access Manager Policy Agent 2.2 for Weblogic 9.1" (those guys really like long names....), but in this documentation web services aren't mentioned at all. They only seem to care about HTTP requests from a browser.
I have also read about the Policy Agent 2.2 in the documentation called "Sun Java System Access Manager Policy Agent 2.2 Guide for Sun Java System Application Server 9.0/Web Services" (puh...). This document explicitly talks about securing web services the way I want.
    My questions are:
    1) Is it possible to secure WLS based web services in the same way using the Policy Agent for WLS?
    2) Are there any documentation/tutorials/etc?
    Thanks in advance :-)
    Anders

what you need is a webservices agent that would enable you to "protect" your webservice provider, which I assume is on a BEA weblogic provider.
the "Sun Java System Access Manager Policy Agent 2.2 for Weblogic 9.1" is "NOT" awebservices agent, but a normal J2EE policy agent.
So.. having said that. here's what I'd recommend.
    1. install the webservices agent on bea weblogic. (note: NOT the J2EE policy agent)
    2. configure it to use your access manager instance for authentication.
    3. configure your webservices client to use the webservice provider. (note: you'd need the webservices APi's available on the client too... so the quick dirty method would be to install the webservices agent on your client too....) you can later bundle the webservices client independently and provide your"customers" with a webservices client bundle...
    4. voila... your webservices are not "protected" by acces manager ;-)

  • Sun Access Manager to OpenSSO 8 migration

    Hi,
I'm trying to migrate from Sun Java System Access Manager/Sun Directory Server 5.2 to Oracle OpenSSO 8/Sun Directory Server 11. After creating the same suffix (dc=example) from DS 5.2 to DS 11, I installed and configured OpenSSO. After that I export/import my application subtree (o=appl1) from a ldiff file. Everything works good (user, groups, roles, etc) except policies. In Access Manager my policies is keep under ou=iPlanetAMPolicyService,ou=services,o=appl1,dc=example and if I manually create a policy in OpenSSo it's created under ou=iPlanetAMPolicyService,ou=services,o=appl1,ou=services,dc=example. To read policies from my application I use PolicyManager and if it possible I dont want to change the code. Is it possible to tell OpenSSO to keep my policies under ou=iPlanetAMPolicyService,ou=services,o=appl1,dc=example instead of ou=iPlanetAMPolicyService,ou=services,o=appl1,ou=services,dc=example or I need to modify my ldif file or other way ? Thanks for your help.

You should use the MS Access Migration Wizard available from OTN.
Go to the Technology section, then click Migration, then click
Oracle's Migration Toolkits, then click Microsoft Access and from
there you can get the wizard to migrate from Access 2.0. It does
not run on Windows 98. I am not sure whether it is a
recommendation or a requirement to upgrade to Access 97.

The ns-slapd.exe process belongs to the Directory Server. You should therefore check if your DS instance is set up properly.

  • Access Manager Policy Agent and Oracle AS

    Hi,
my system uses Oracle Application Server. The security dept use Sun Access Manager. I need to integrate the security of the Oracle system with the policy agent. Where this gets a little confusing is that one of my developers tells me that this is difficult to implement and that Sun arent planning on supporting the Oracle AS in future.
What I would like is some clarification from the horses mouth so to speak. In particular is it possible to integrate the policy agent and Oracle AS, and are Sun committed to supporting and developing for this.
    Thanks,
    Andy.

"Where this gets a little confusing is that one of my developers tells me that this is difficult to implement"
"it is NOT an implementation but an integration ! difficult ? why ?"
"and that Sun arent planning on supporting the Oracle AS in future."
There is a PA 2.2 for Oracle 10g ! It is the latest version(2.2 I mean). I don't see any reasons why Sun should not continue. But it is ONLY my point of view...
"What I would like is some clarification from the horses mouth so to speak. In particular is it possible to integrate the policy agent and Oracle AS, and are Sun committed to supporting and developing for this."
Of course it is possible because you can find the PA that will integrate your Oracle AS with a Sun AM.
    1) Please read the documentation.
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/coll/1322.1
Download the one for Oracle and read also the user guide.
PA are very easy to integrate if you know what you do... Espec. und. the AM auth and sso... If you can be helped by a AM guy from your comp. it is welcome... It is a j2ee agent and of course the PA will make what is necessary to redirect you to AM at login time and later to auth. your request...2)
    2) Download the soft and do the job :-)
    Product Downloads
Sun Java System Access Manager Policy Agent 2.2 for Oracle Application Server 10g
    http://www.sun.com/download/products.xml?id=455d52ed
I did plenty of int. with Sun/Bea/Tomcat AS(don't forget there are also webserver agents like Apache PA) with AM and it is not a big deal. Not Oracle, but it is an AS and I don't see why it should be difficult...
    Hope this helps a bit.

    Hi Colin,
No network, DB is up and able to connect. Till friday I am able to start the OID. Now gettinf this error. Also when I try to start the dcm-daemon component getting error
    dcm-daemon~dcm-daemon~dcm~1:
    09/11/23 18:36:46 Start process
    ADMN-202046
The OracleAS Repository API threw an exception when obtaining the connect string to the Metadata Repository
    Resolution:
Check the exception thrown by the Repository API for resolution information.
Some common causes of this problem are as follows:
OID is not running or unavailable
the ias.properties file is misconfigured with incorrect OID connection information
    OID permissions are incorrectly defined
    Base Exception:
    oracle.ias.repository.schema.SchemaException
Unable to establish connection to the Oracle Internet Directory Server ldap://pidmim1a-ar.idm.co.in:389/. Base Exception : javax.naming.CommunicationException: pidmim1a-ar.idm.co.in:389 [Root exception is java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused]
Not sure what went wrong. Is there any way to solve this issue or we need to install OAM from sratch.
