Cannot stop memory monitor thread

Hi All,
I am getting the following error intermittently in a dataflow which has degree of parallelism = 8.
22943 0 SYS-170111 27/11/2009 12:22:05 |SubDataflow DF_Conform_ISI_Person_Match_Prep_1_9
22943 0 SYS-170111 27/11/2009 12:22:05 Cannot stop memory monitor thread: <RWThreadImp::terminate - No thread is active within the runnable>
Any ideas as to the cause ?
Thanks,
Eric Jones.

We are having the same issue.
According to ADAPT00890818, this issue should be resolved in 12.0.0. We are currently running with version 12.2.2.3.
Please advice.

  • SYS-170111 - Cannot stop memory monitor thread: RWThreadImp::terminate -

    Hi Experts,
WE have this warning in pretty much every job in production. But the warnings are not specific to certain jobs they might occur one day and not the other day.
Cannot stop memory monitor thread: <RWThreadImp::terminate - No thread is active within the runnable>.
I know looking at the release notes this issue was fixed in 3.0 (12.0.0), we are using 3.2 (12.2.0) and having the same issues. The job server is on a linux 64 bit. I have not seen this issue in any of our windows job server. Is this bug specific to linux or is there a resolution for this.
    Appreciate your help in advance.
    Thanks
    AJ

    Hi, AJ.
As can be seen in the KBA 1455412 this is a known behavior.
"As a result of fixing the problem identified in ADAPT 00890818 in release 12.0.0.0, this message is displayed by design. If there is really a problem in stopping the memory monitor thread an exception is thrown and an error message is logged.
    Background:
In the memory monitor's shutdown logic, once it tells the monitor thread to shutdown it waits for the thread to terminate but only for 10 seconds. It could be that at this same time the wait expired when the thread actually terminates. So when this happens in the shutdown logic we force terminate the thread. Since there is no active thread anymore the terminate call throws an exception and then we catch it and then throws the error for the job."
You can just ignore this warning.
    Leo.

  • Monitoring memory and thread management for Java 1.4.2_04

    Hi,
I have an application which is using Java version 1.4.2_04. The application deployed in Customer site is having some memory issues. There are observing java.exe going 100% in Task Manager. The same application (of higher version)
uses Java 1.5 is not seeing any issues.
Now Customer needs the root cause of the issue and i would like to check the code which is causing the issue. I came to know we can monitor threads and memory using JConsole. Since we are using Java 1.4, i installed Java 1.6 on a remote machine and tried connecting to the problematic machine. But it failed to connect.
i have added the option "-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=8880" when starting JVM (this i have provided inside ServletExec batch file, ServletExec is my web server).
Any idea how to connect to the problematic machine from remote using JConsole. Or any other tools i can use on Java 1.4 to nail down the problem..
    Please provide pointers.
I have another doubt on Java version 1.4, since there were many memory issues, am i hitting any defect in Java 1.4

  • App-V 5: An error was encountered while trying to stop the monitoring session

    Hello,
I have a problem with sequencing an application with the App-V 5 sequencer. During the moment that the sequencer is collecting system changes an dialog box appears with the message "An error was encountered while trying to stop the monitoring session.
Please check the event log for more details.". When I sequence the same application with App-V 4.6 SP2 sequencer I have no problems.
In the eventviewer (Microsoft-AppV-Sequencer/Admin) you can see the message "An attempt to stop the monitoring session failed (startIndex cannot be large than lenght of string. Parameter name: startIndex). Event Id: 5003
I have checked the background activities, but I couldn't find anything suspicious.

Is the only difference between the platform the sequencer is hosted on the version of the sequencer? have you tested on a vanilla deployment of Windows?

  • Backup drive failure: "Cannot allocate memory"

iMac early ’09.  8GB RAM. OS 10.6.8, 8. Apps and OS auto-update, so should be current.
Backup disk 2 TB Hitachi Touro Desk Pro HTOLDNB20001BBB (USB 2.0). New Nov 2012, initialized and worked until now. Hitachi lists my Mac and OS as compatible. No firmware updates available.
I have screen shots mentioned in post, but no way to attach them here? Links follow post.
Morning message from Time Machine saying hadn’t backed up in 10 days, so investigated. No sound from Touro but on and connected. Disconnected>reconnected power and USB, then rebooted iMac. During reboot message box “..doesn’t recognize disk,” w reformat as an option.
Touro not listed as a device in Finder window and doesn’t turn up on desktop as before. But, Sys Profiler (screen shot) and Disk Utility (screen shot) do see it; First Aid doesn’t offer Verify, so can’t test. Tried to reinitialize as Mac Ext. Journaled, Zero Out Data (exctly as initialized when new). Initialize failed. Tried to initialize repartitioning to one partition, and again two partition, GUID scheme. Partition failed with error: POSIX reports: Operation could complete. Cannot allocste memory. No sound from Touro during any of this.
Rebooted from CD and ran all of the above again with identical results.
Have reviewed related threads without much success.
I’ve done no disk image restore because I don’t understand how to work with them.
Also haven’t gotten into Terminal to try anything from there.
I’ve attached 3 screen shots of some Activity Monitor info, plus the Sys Profiler and DU page. Rare as it is, I’m suspecting the Touro HD, based mostly on the fact there’s no sound of a disk in there. Never any problems using a 5 GB G-Drive x4 years until size forced a replacement backup drive.
A couple of threads here suggest upgrading to Lion/MLion, but I won’t do that without backup and really don’t want it yet, anyway. Do not use or want iCloud, either.
At the moment I’m completely without backup and uncomfortably exposed. Any assistance sincerely appreciated.

It wasn't a dismissive chuck it -- simply pointing out that buying a new disk and making a new time machine should be Job #1.  Figuring out whether the old disk is defective or just needs a few rounds of fsck can wait until you are no longer "flying without a net."  If the disk does turn out to be ok, you can use it to periodically make a bootable clone of your drive.  You really should have both -- a bootable clone brings you back up quickly from one kind of disaster (an upgrade that goes bad being the most probable of that type) while regular Time Machines are your best protection against a disk that goes bad.
I speak from some experience -- after a few months of occasional hangs, and a disk that would not fsck clean, my disk failed yesterday morning.  Fortunately my backup was from Saturday night.  A trip to the staples to buy a new disk, to the Farm King for a #6 torx wrench, digging around for a tiny screwdriver, and I had the drive in.  Then I had to install 10.6.0 on it from my install disks, and restore the TM backup, and run all of the updates, and it took about 10 hours total.  If I had had a bootable 10.6.8 clone it would have knocked about 6 hours off of the job...
Once you migrate to 10.7, a bootable clone is an absolute necessity.  I have heard stories of people having their installs go bad, and then the booting off of the recovery partition and re-downloading the os software and loading the TM backup taking DAYS.  Which means not happening if their network is too flakey to stay up for days.
But to repeat -- your most important worry right now should be making sure you have a backup.  Then when you are covered, you can go about figuring out if your old disk is reliable or not.  If not, then you will want to buy yet another disk to use for your clone.

  • WTKs memory monitor is very slow

Hello people! I was using the WTKs(2.2) memory monitor and its woking well. But now, the momory monitor is too slow. Almost stopping the application (a simple game). I dont understand, the system is the same! The code is the same! The computer is the same! Somebody can help me? Thanks!

Run Etrecheck and post the results
You backed up first and made a clone of your system?
You used Recovery Mode and Disk Utility to repair the drive.
Use to be we HAD TO clear system cache and extension caches before doing any type of install or upgrade.
Maybe the report will show some possible explanation, incl. if the directory is healthy.

  • Can't restore from .dmg file "cannot allocate memory- error"

Im trying to install OS X 10.6 from an .dmg file because I have trouble with my dvd reader.

    03. drag and drop the Mac os image to source
    04. drag and drop Mac's partition to destination
    05. click restore

Hi LInc. I tried your choice and succesfully installed over a 16GB pendrive. But could not do that with the 2TB green caviar... I also found that there are some issues with this kind of drive in the fourth bay, so I will change it to see if there is any difference. Cant make it work with TMachine also (known issues there too).

  • Stop an OSGi thread

    Hi everyone!
I am programming a OSGi bundle using Eclipse. The problem is that I don't know how to use the stop method in the Activator class so my program does never stop and I have to stop it by hand. For example:
    public void start(BundleContext context) throws Exception {
          System.out.println("Starting bundle"); }
    public void stop(BundleContext context) throws Exception {
}The console shows the Starting bundle message but instead of stopping the program after doing the only thing it must do, it does not stop. What should I write in the stop thread so that the program after showing the message stops?
    Thanks in advance!

What exactly are you trying to do? Calling Thread.stop( ) is inherently a bad idea (see the Javadocs).
You are getting a IllegalStateException because Thread.stop( ) kills the thread, you would need to create a new thread to resume execution.
If what you are trying to do is pause execution, you probably want to redesign your thread's tasks into smaller chunks that can be launched separately. Alternatively, have the thread check it's interrupted state and if a flag was set block on a monitor until you want it to resume execution.

  • Cannot allocate memory - Concept Explanation Please

    Hello all,
    Just wanted to confirm something.
I compile a helloword class and the javac does it job.
Now when I am preparing a larger program from ant like so: /usr/local/ant/bin/ant prepareI get:Buildfile: build.xml
[property] java.io.IOException: java.io.IOException: Cannot allocate memory
    [property]     at java.lang.UNIXProcess.<init>(UNIXProcess.java:148)
[property]     at java.lang.ProcessImpl.start(ProcessImpl.java:65)So more memory is required for different compilations of programs, right?
Is there a way, I can allocate all (most) memory to the javac compiler?
If I have some of my theory and terminology mixed please correct me.
    Thanks all

  • NFSv4: cannot allocate memory errors when moving files

When I move a directory on an NFS client to another location then I can't create a file on that other location anymore:
    [willem@venus ~]$ mkdir test
    [willem@venus ~]$ mv test /pub/music
    [willem@venus ~]$ cd /pub/music/test
    [willem@venus test]$ touch a
    ^C
the touch command does nothing on the nfs client (it hangs, so I Ctrl-C).
When I logon to the NFS server the following happens:
    [willem@titan W]$ cd /pub/music/test
    [willem@titan test]$ touch x
touch: cannot touch 'x': Cannot allocate memory
    [willem@titan test]$
This only happens if the mv command moves the directory over different NFS mount points.
I have an older arch NFS server with a 3 months old arch install, and this issue does not occur there.
If I mount the nfs client directories with nfsvers=3 in my fstab then it also does not occur, so it seems to be broken in a recent update in NFS4

I've tested using a very small SGA and PGA (200Mb and 100Mb), although normally I would have it set higher.

  • Memory Monitor

I am trying to instrument a large application to monitor for possible memory leaks in the current or future versions.
I am using a similar approach to ...\Labview 8.2\Examples\memmon.llb\Memory Monitor.vi.  One problem is that the VI Server property VI.Metric.DataSize does not seem to be available if the VI is running (or waiting to run).  The property node returns error 1000, VI not is a .  Is there any other way to programmatically get detailed memory statistics for each VI?  Why is this information available in the profiler and in the VI Properties->Memory Usage window but not in a property node?
It  would also be great to get a list of all active queues and notifiers on the system, but I suspect this is not available anywhere.  If anyone has good ideas about this, it would be great.
    Thanks,
    Jason Dunham

    Jason,
Unfortunately, I am not aware of a way to do this programmatically.  As for the VI property Metrics:Total Data Size, according to the LabVIEW help, you cannot read this property if the VI is running.  Please see this post for the reasoning behind this.

  • Memory monitor exception

I am working on a mobile game using JSR-184 and WTK 2.2.0. When I try to run the program with the memory monitor enabled (on emulator) I always end up with the following exception:
Exception in thread "Thread-5" java.lang.RuntimeException: Inconsistent classes map

        at com.sun.kvem.memorymon.ObjectsMonitor.freeObject(Unknown Source)
        at com.sun.kvem.memorymon.MemoryMonitor.freeObject(Unknown Source)
at com.sun.kvem.memorymon.MemoryListener.run(Unknown Source)What can cause this? It appears to be thrown before the MIDlet constructor is called.
I'm using NetBeans 4.0 as the IDE, if that matters.
    Thanks for your help,
    Patrik

Which error do you get? java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space? Or do you get your error from a different memory?
In case of PermGen: In my opinion threre is a bug (not yet accepted by sun/oracle) described here:
[ OOME because of MBeanServerConnection addListener    |http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5407170&messageID=10814433#10814433]
If you are doing something similar, this could be the cause. Our workaround is to disconnect periodically.
