Cannot sync my ipod touch to new-installed itunes.

Hi,
Last week my computer got a problem. and i sent it to the service to reformat the programs.
And when i want to sync my ipod touch to the new-installed itunes, it said *"The ipod "ipod touch" cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation*".
What am i supposed to do?
Thank you.

  • How to sync ipod touch to new computer itunes library after old itunes library computer crash without wiping out "library" on ipod touch

how to sync ipod touch to new computer itunes library after old itunes library lost in computer crash, without erasing ipod touch

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device. Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music, you may have to use a third party software. A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:

B-rock, thanks for posting the above.  I actually have the same issue, running Windows XP and I don't have that backup location, \Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\.  When I go to Documents and Settings\(username)\ there's a AppData folder followed by:\LocalLow\DataMngr\ .
I have the latest update, 5.0.1 and I have the iPod Touch 3rd gen.
I have tried removing itunes and all that is associated with it then reinstalling and keep getting the same message.  I've reset my ipod thinking that would help but still, no backup.
In iTunes, Edit, Preference, Device there are no backups.
What am I doing wrong, can you help?
    Thank you!

  • Is it possible to sync an Ipod touch 2nd generation to itunes to download music?

I have been trying to sync my Ipod touch 2nd generation to itunes and it says its completed, but then the music doesn't transfer to the device and I know I can't upgrade to IOS 5  so is it impossible to download music to it?  I just bought it today used to $54  so I am growing incredibly frustrated.

Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?

  • Sync old ipod touch to new pc

im trying to sync back to my (new) computer, but it wont let me. ( it keeps telling me the all my music will be erased and replaced with my i tunes libary. ther is no music on my pc.... its new.) can you please tell me how to do this... i have a ipod touch, i belive 1st or 2nd gen, with IOS 4.02.

You can only sync your ipod to one computer. Since this is a new computer, when you sync, it's warning you it will delete the ipod's contents and replace it with whatever you have in your new computer's itunes library. You can follow these steps:
1)In iTunes, go to Edit>Preferences>check Prevent iPods from syncing automatically.
2)Next, go up to the iTunes Store>Authorize this computer.
3)Connect your ipod, select it, and right click. Select Transfer Purchases. This will transfer over any Apps or Music you purchased from the iTunes store.
4)Also, while right clicked, select Back up. You will want this back up when you sync your ipod with your new computer so you can restore from your backup. See [About Backups|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766] to learn what's included in a backup, but note that it does not include the items in step 3.
5)You also will need to restore from the backup made in step 4. [Backing up, updating, and restoring your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414] will tell you how. When prompted to create another backup before you restore, decline as you will use the backup from step 4.
If you had music on it that you did not purchase from the iTunes store, and you had no back up of your computer's data, then you are out of luck as far as Apple's software. You will need to get a third party solution such as [CopyTrans|http://www.copytrans.net/copytrans.php] to transfer music from your ipod. There are others, that's just one I know of.
    Hope that answers your question.

  • Changed computers and needing to sync my iPod Touch to new computer

My iPod Touch was used on my old iMac and now I am connecting it to my new iMac. I want to move my current songs from my iPod to my new iMac but I can't figure out how to do it.

Why not use Migration assistant to move the entire itunes over so you will be syncing as normal from the new computer?

  • Can't sync g2 ipod touch with new computer (windows7)

My original computer died and was unrepairable. I am trying to authorize my new computer (windows 7) to sync with my g2 ipod touch. I can sync apps, but it won't allow me to sync anything else - it keeps wanting to delete the contents of my ipod in order to sync.
When I plug my ipod into the computer, it won't read anything off of the ipod.  What do I do?
I DO have a file with my music backed up on it on an external hd, but I can't seem to repopulate my library with it. I've tried dragging the folder onto the itunes folder (something that usually works with other files) but it's not doing anything.
    I hope someone can help.
p.s. A g1 ipod shuffle that I plugged in worked fine. Computer asked me if I wanted to make this computer an authorized one, I answered the questions and it was done. No problems. My g2 ipod won't do the same thing.

With iTunes, syncing music, video and audiobooks is one way, computer-->iPod.
You need to move your iTunes library to the new computer from the old one, or use another method to get the data off the iPod.

  • Cannot sync my ipod touch

i recently got a laptop for college and i wanted to transfer all my music to it from my desktop. so i downloaded a ipod to computer tranfer program. i tried transferring from my ipod touch and everytime i tried the program would freeze on me. so i thought it was maybe just a glitch. so i had a ipod video just laying around so i just ended up just using that ipod and it worked fine.
now that i have all my music on my laptop, i have added a few more albums to my library. i plugged in my ipod touch and itunes read it fine and it showed under devices. so i went to the music tab on my ipod and clicked on Sync. i choose my playlist i want to sync, then i hit Apply. as soon as i it apply, ituens freezes and goes to Not Responding. i have tried multiple times, ive tried restarting my laptop. the weird thing is that i have no problems at all on my desktop computer.
both of my computers are running Windows Vista. the only media i have on my ipod is music, apps, and a couple photos (i read that podcasts can sometimes cause this, but i dont have any). any help would be much appreciated. thanks

The backup file is locaed here:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Make sure that show hidden files is turned on.
The DVD problem is an iTunes problem, not an iDevice problem. Try the iTunes forum.

  • Are there any POSSIBLE ways to connect/sync my iPod Touch 5G to my iTunes 10.6.3(25) on my MacBook running OSX 10.5.8?

So, I bit the bullet. I've always wanted to upgrade to the iPhone 5 from my existing iPhone 3Gs, before I do so, I sort of got the iPod Touch 5G first.
    Now to the main question,
"Is there any virtually possible way to connect my iPod Touch 5G 6.1.2 to my iTunes 10.6.3 running on my MacBook with OSX 10.5.8?!?"
I'm still lucky that my iPhone 3Gs still can run on 5.1.1 and sync nicely with my current mac, but I need a new phone. I already have a desktop workstation and I still do have all my data/etc on my laptop.
Or must I have to buy Snow Leopard (if it's still available) and upgrade my old Mac's OS to do so? If so, is it still worth while to purchase SL, or would it be abandoned very soon since it's also considered "old"? and getting a new laptop is quite expensive too as a solution.
    Regards,
    Vince

This works for 4G iPod and iOS 6. However, it may not work for the 5G because of the Lightning cable. The Lightning cable has active componets and thus it may need OSX 10.6.8 or later to work.

  • HT1296 I Want to sync my iPod content to newly installed iTunes on same PC after reinstall of iTunes (but it tells me iPod is synced with another library)

After my PC crashed (MicroSoft blue screen of death), I had to re-format my hard drive, reinstall Windows 7, and ultimately re-install iTunes. I have over 7000 songs on my iPod and want to load them into iTunes, but iTunes tells me my iPod is synced with another library and wants to overwrite my data.  How do I make this new version of iTunes accept all the info on my iPod into a new library? I have authorized this computer as one of 4 of my 5 allowed (note I have authorized this same machine 3 times due to Windows upgrades and iTunes reinstall...)

    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the new computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party progtam like one of those discussed here
    Copy music
    - WHen everything is on your computr connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup. Do that by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not contain synced media like apps and music.

  • HT1918 Help! I cannot sync my iPods because my PW for iTunes doesn't match my AppleID PW - UGH!

I'm unable to sync my iPod..its corrupted..when i go to reset I am asked for a PW that I don't remember and I don't know how to reset - It seems that there is an iTunes PW distinct of my PW associated with my apple ID?? UGH..Old Brain!

    Hello Suzanne214,
I think iTunes is asking for your passcode on your iOS device.  If you don't remember the passcode, you can setup your iPod as new using the steps from the following article:
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
The steps you take will depend on whether you have synced this iPod with iTunes on this computer in the past.  This article outlines the steps for either situation.  I hope this helps!
    Best,
    Sheila M.
