Cannot tether to iPhone using bluetooth, only USB

I am having an issue using bluetooth.  I am trying to connect my iphone using bluetooth, and it does pair.  but for some reason, i cannot get onto the internet.  I go to the network settings and it gives me a yellow circle beside "bluetooth pan".  But when I use my USB cord to connect my iPhone to the Macbook, the internet works.  You think there is a problem with my bluetooth?
I was wondering because now I notice that my bluetooth wireless mighty mouse is acting funny.  It doesnt track properly... then again, I've always been having issues with my BT mighty mouse.
Is there a way for me to test whether my bluetooth on the Macbook is working or not?

i'm having the same problem too. you might want to use alternative by tether wifi or usb.
it might be 7.0.3 bug

  • Is there any way to control my laptop powerpoint presentation from my iphone using bluetooth only?

I occasionally host pub quizzes. I usually link my laptop to a projector and use powerpoint to display questions and play music clips etc. This means that I need to sit underneath the projector in order to click the laptop keyboard.
Is there any way to do this using my iPhone (4S) as a remote control for the laptop WITHOUT having a home network or router available at the location?
    Thanks

    Hi Paul,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The closest way I know of accomplishing a task like this is by using the Keynote application on a Mac and Keynote Remote on an iOS device, which works over bluetooth. See this article for more information:

  • I cannot connect my I pad mini and iPhone using Bluetooth.

I cannot connect my I pad mini and iPhone using Bluetooth.

I'm not sure what made you think that that was not what Regal trail was asking... I am having the same problem and wish that that question had been answered! I believe I've gone through the same steps that used to work, to no avail now. But I'm betting that you (Chris) have the answer to this!
In a nutshell: I'm trying to share my iPhone's cellular connection with my WiFi-only iPad Mini, using a Bluetooth connection. I used to do this regularly, but went for a period of time without the need for it, and so am hard pressed now to identify which thing that might have changed during the interim would have made it no longer work.
iPhone is connected to internet via cellular data (AT&T LTE). Bluetooth is on. Personal Hotspot is on.
On iPad, Bluetooth is on. My iPhone shows up in the list under My Devices, and I can select it, and it will connect for approximately 5 seconds. The shared connection icon shows up on the iPad. The iPhone (on the Bluetooth screen) shows, for those 5 seconds, that the iPad is connected, but the shared connection status bar never shows up on the iPhone.
    After 5 seconds, it disconnects.
Thoughts? Need more info? Let me know! Thanks.

Is anyone else having trouble syncing an iphone using bluetooth? I get a message that says pared , but not connected.

    Everyone!
You can't syncing your iPhone via blutooth. BT is only for hands-free and tethering. You can sync via cable or wi-fi.only.

  • Can't tether on iphone 4 bluetooth seems not working either

I cannot tether anymore. Tried this morning, the hotspot option was still available, but not working with my ipad. Now the hotspot function is not even on my phone. Tried to turn off the phone, did my 6.0.1 update, and still nothing.

I have had the same issue with my phone. I noticed that it was using up the battery too quickly. After numerous attempts to fix the issue (turn off/on, make sure there are not background apps, etc), I decided to finally do a restore.
I have had the same issue on restoring the phone ("unknown error occurred (9)"). It appears to be an issue with the phone talking over the USB. Suggestions on Apple's site (can't find the link right now) are to try different cables, different USB ports, assure you have no other devices on the USB bus, and try another computer. I've tried all of this and haven't had any luck so far. I'm hoping that either AT&T or Apple will have a replacement phone at this point since this one seems to be bricked

  • How to use keynote remote w/ iPad and iPhone using Bluetooth

Using IOS 7.0.6 on iPad and iPhone can't get a connection via Bluetooth to use iPhone as a remote to control keynote on iPad. Bluetooth is on, remote is enabled in keynote on both devices but that is as far as I get. I'm looking for some instructions for what seems to be a simple process. Searched all over and only find outdated instructions or instructions that appear incomplete. I don't think my Wi-Fi connection at work will allow this type of connection that's why I want to use Bluetooth. I can't get the 2 devices to do this on my home Wi-Fi either. Using the latest  update to keynote. iPad is work issued and not sure if it is iPad or iPad 2 but I don't think this would make a difference. Any help would be much appreciated. Very frustrated at this point.
    Thank you,
    Carl

Hey, I had some issues but I finally figured it out thanks to this article: http://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-use-keynote-to-control-keynote-on-ios-mac/
Basically, you find the remote (let's say your iPhone) while your iPad has a presentation active then go to Presentation Tools on said iPad and link your iPhone. Your iPhone has to be searching for a device after you tap "Add Device."

  • Can I share music between Mac and iPhone using bluetooth

While I use Home Sharing to allow my phone and my wife's to access an iTunes library housed on my Macbook Pro, when we travel by air obviously we do not have Wi Fi available. I know I can buy a "Y" cable to connect two sets of earphones to my Mac so we can both listen to music without disturbing other passengers, but I'm wondering if we can eliminate cabling both devices to the Mac by using bluetooth?
    Any suggestions would be welcomed.
    Thanks

    No

  • Missing TCP/IP settings for iPhone tethering (Bluetooth and USB)

Is it just me or Apple has completely disabled the TCP/IP settings for BT and USB connections for iPhone tethering (and possibly any other mobile devices)?
I can now only set the IP addresses and DNS server. No Proxies or WINS settings tabs.
I have also noticed that if you setup a USB tethering connection in Leopard and upgrade to Snow Leopard, the settings are still available, but NOT if you make a clean install of Snow Leopard and create a new iPhone USB tethering connection.
I always use a SOCKS5 when I'm using my tethering connection for security and better/faster connection with my manual proxy server setup. I find the new "options" in SL very limited, not only for my usage.

I got this to work again (in fact, I'm tethered right now
Here are the steps I followed:
    1) Upgraded to iTunes 9
    2) Upgraded iPhone to OS 3.1
    3) Removed device from Bluetooth Devices list on my MBP
    4) Removed Bluetooth PAN from Network preferences
    5) Restarted iPhone and MBP
    6) Set-up iPhone as a Bluetooth Device on MBP
    7) Enabled tethering on iPhone
    8) Connected to iPhone network via the Bluetooth icon on my MBP menu bar
    9) Verified that the blue "Internet Tethering" bar was on the iPhone
    10) Manually added Bluetooth PAN to my MBP network preferences (connect show as yellow, "IP cannot be assigned" message)
    11) Opened the Advanced pane and clicked the "Renew DHCP Lease" button
    12) IP was assigned!
I'm not sure if the first two steps contributed to the solution or not, but these are the steps that worked for me.
    Good luck to you all...

  • Transferring file in iPhone using Bluetooth ???

How can I transfer file from phone to phone in the iphone 3G ? Thanks.

Just so as everyone is clear on this subject, Apple has locked down bluetooth and not allowed file sharing deliberately, because of the DRM contracts signed with the world music/software development industry. They demanded no music & application file sharing be allowed, because of this practice becoming rife with all other phones with bluetooth, across the world. Yeah, you teenagers know what I mean. How many times does a Fallout Boy tune get gifted to 50 friends on every other phone?

  • Cannot play iTunes songs using Bluetooth

Windows xp bluetooth adapter is paired with Bose Wireless Speaker. Music plays fine through wireless speaker from pandora.com, etc. So bluetooth works.
But when I try to play songs from my iTunes library, I hear it through the computer speakers and not the wireless speaker. Could there be a setting in iTunes that I need to change in order to play iTunes music wirelessly?
    Thanks

All of a sudden, today, I tried and can play from iTunes to the wireless speaker. I did not do anything. So I don't really know what solved this.
