I cannot unmute my Macbook Pro. Why?

Hopefully one of these steps should solve the problem.
1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
    Highlight Internal Speakers
    Make sure that Mute is not enabled.
2. Remove the headphone.
    If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
    in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
    Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
3. Reset PRAM. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
4. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Choose the method for:
    "Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
5. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
    Audio Devices window
    Side Bar
    Click the Built-in Output.
    Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so, uncheck it.

Next try deleting the system and reinstall the printer..

I cannot get my Macbook Pro Retina to connect to my BT homehub either wirelessly or through ethernet using the thunderbolt adaptor. I know that this is a problem with my IP address as in Network Settings it tells me that
'Thunderbolt Ethernet has a self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the Internet.'
I know that my internet connection is fine as I can plug the ethernet cable back into my PC and it works fine. Also, my phone and ipad connect wirelessly just fine.
Bt have told me to contact Apple, but I can't get hold of Apple till tomorrow.
Amyone know how to overcome this?
I did also find my IP address and enter it manually, at which point netwrok settings showed my ethernet connection as green and connected, but it still wasn't working.

Same for wifi. I have put in my IP address manually for the wifi network and it has gone green and connects to the hub, but gives me an exclamation mark on the wifi bar and still doesnt connect to the internet.
I am writing this whilst connected to the internet on the same laptop but connected to BTFON which is a really slow public network I have access to as a BT customer.

What may have happened is an error and a kernel panic, filling up the logfiles.
What I recommend is first to find a way to backup your data without booting the hard drive directly if it isn't already backed up, and then get Alsoft Disk Warrior to repair the hard drive.    You'll probably want an external drive from http://www.macsales.com/
And you'll want to go into Hard drive -> Library -> Logs, System -> Library -> Logs, and Users -> yourname -> Library -> Logs to remove whatever you find there.
If after booting it fills up again, start by removing all startup items in your System Preferences for your user, and rebooting in safe mode with the shift key held down. If the hard drive is over 85% full after removing the logfiles, you may want to look at what were the last applications you installed.
Peer2peer software if installed can be as bad as a virus, because it enables others to access your computer. Insecure wireless networks are just as bad, if they are WEP or no encryption and someone is within 1500 feet of your computer.
If no such software is installed, your RAM probably has failed.    Run the hardware test that came with your computer, by booting with the 'D' key.
If nothing shows up there, it can still be the RAM.   Especially if you've seen any 4 language screens telling you to restart.

If you don't already have a current backup of all data, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If the machine is connected to the network via Ethernet, disconnect the cable.
If it's connected via Wi-Fi, try to start up in Recovery mode. Select
Turn Wi-Fi Off
from the Wi-Fi menu in the menu bar.
Try again to restart as usual. While disconnected from the network, you won't be able to log in to a network account on an Open Directory or Active Directory server, but you may be able to log in to an account local to the machine. Post your results.

That's because the mirror setting, known as Airplay does not work with Mac OS X 10.7.5.
You need 10.8 or later and a

Do a safe boot pressing Shift key. If you can, boot in recovery with Command and R keys and reinstall 10.7

You may install Snow Leopard OS, maximize the RAM to 8 GB and install a larger HDD, or spend a lot of money and install a SSD.

Can't Unmute my Macbook Pro

I can know longer unmute my Macbook Pro. Looking at sound settings I see no output devices and the mute button is checked and shaded, not allowing me to uncheck the mute box. Is there a way to reset drivers?

I cannot reboot my MacBook Pro late 2012

I have been trying hard to reboot my system macbook pro and tried every possible ways through disk utility set up but with no avail. I have a system back up on my external drive. when I run a disk repair I get a error massage disk cannot be repaired and says back up and reformat the disk. I tried erasing the disk and reinstall from my back up drive but cannot erase the drive and reinstall either and get a error. i tried to reinstall online from the apple server but I could not find the destination drive on my Mac. I tried to erase the drive using zero recovery but it took me more then 24 hours and keeps running and alto marly I have to stop it. I tried every possible ways but I failed. I don't a have a apple service centers in my area please if i need a help.

How many passes did you use to securely erase your drive? If more than one, 24 hours wouldn't be that unusual. Have you booting into your Recovery partition and tried to erase your boot drive there? If you're getting the message that your disk can't be repaired there, then your disk is already dead and it's time to replace it. Should be no trouble to install a new drive, install an OS on it and then restore from a Time Machine backup.

I cannot find my MacBook Pro serial number anywhere!?

I just recently purchased my MacBook Pro from a seller locally on Craigslist. I couldn't find the serial number on the surface of the laptop (under the battery) or through the system:
I have been searching all over Apple's website for this, but I cannot find any information on it!
Please don't tell me it's "stolen" because every product I have registered goes through fine and I get no error. Additionally, the guy I bought it from said that he had a fresh installation of the new OSX Lion and it didn't give a serial number.
I'm new to the Apple Mac products, and when I saw my cousin's old MacBook I was able to find his serial number was engraved behind his battery.
Mine doesn't show anything engraved at all, besides what model #'s the laptop contains.

I was stupid because I completely forgot when I met up with him that I texted him asking what the serial # was and he didn't reply.
Then when I met up with him, he even told me to go over the mac, test it out, and ensure myself that I was happy with it. As I looked for the serial number, I didn't see it, and that's when I asked him why it was missing.
He said the number erased because he had to do a "fresh installation" of the OSX Lion. I read in other articles that people have had to do this with the older MBP models (aka core 2 duo) and it has caused the serial number to erase from the specs.
As for the last picture I put, I just noticed that there was something there...then I thought to myself that's where the badge would be.
I've been looking all over in Google for my model and where the serial number should be, but can't seem to find it...
I guess I'll deal with it as is...
Only weird thing is, that if it were "stolen," then why have I been able to update the software from Apple without any issues?

I did a 35 pass secure erase and now i cannot reinstall snow leopard onto my macbook pro. I also tried a restore from backup and this has not worked either. Can anyone help I have not been able to use my computer for the past 3 months

Did your Macbook Pro come pre-installed with Snow Leopard and are you using the disc that came with your computer to reinstall? Or are you using a retailed dvd which you purchased?

IPad cannot connect to MacBook Pro

I have recently updated to Yosemite on my MacBook Pro and my iPad is running iOS 8.1.
If I plug the iPad into the MacBook (usb) then the charge symbol on the iPad flashes rapidly and repeatedly between charging and not charging. When I open Itunes I get an error message saying "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. This device is no longer connected." which I then can't get out of - i.e. I click OK on the error message and it returns straight away.
Anyone got any ideas as I now cannot sync or backup my iPad?

Sorted - kind of - not my cable but it is the socket on the iPad itself. OK if just plugged into a charger, but when connecting to a Mac, it's obviously doggy as it works if I apply pressure to one side of the plug. As soon as I release the pressure it starts flickering on the power indicator again and the error pops back up.
So physical problem, not Yosemite or iOS8
