Canon Printer set up, Help!

I have canon MultiPass c530 BubbleJet printer connect to Hp pavilion box local LPT port.
How can I set it up to work with Solaris 8 (7/01) system?
Any help, I will greatly appreciate it!

I'm surprised you manage to get any print via the print server. I previously tested a Netgear and D-Link print server connected to a Canon iP6000D and couldn't get the Canon drivers to work. The only option was to use Gutenprint, and at the time there was no iP models so the S800 was the best compromise. The only 'print server' I found that would work with the Canon drivers was an Airport Extreme Base Station, which I am still using to this day.
Re the quirky, this is not just a Canon issue, other vendors have the same issue when you configure the printer the way you have. The way to avoid it is to purchase the right product for the job - finding what is right is often the problem. For the record, Canon makes a number of BJ and Laser printers with wired, and in some cases wireless, network support. These devices therefore have drivers that have been designed to work on a network, unlike the drivers you currently have. At work I have an iP5200R, which I connect to from XP using Ethernet, and I also connect to with my MacBook Pro using Airport (wireless). No driver connection issues, full driver support with status feedback and no need to have the XP PC on in order to print.

  • Help getting mac mini and canon printer set up on network

    Hello,
I have a Canon pixma ip4000 printer and mac mini 1.66 duo OSX 10.4. Trying to get these to print on a network.
Canon was originally hooked up to a windows xp pro box, but mac wouldn't print to it.
Bought a print server (buffalo lpv3-u2) and can't get it to work either. Whether I connect through bonjour or apple talk, I can see and connect to the printer, but either the job just sits in the queue "ready to print," or, more often, soon after starting the job it gets stopped. Restarting it means it just gets stopped again.
I have tried canon drivers, guten-print, and printfab. None work.
Printer works just fine if it's connected directly to the mac.
Windows PC's print to printer through the print server just fine. Why won't the mac "just work?"
It seems like it would be more economical just to buy another printer for the mac and be left wondering why the mac wouldn't play nice with others.
    Oh, well,
Thanks for any help you can offer!!
    David

  • A Tip for Fans of the Old Canon Printer Set-Up "Vivid" Setting

I'm absolutely thrilled that I've been able to replace my old Pixma ip6600D dye-ink printer with a new Pro-10.  However, I was dismayed that the new printer settings do not have a simple "Vivid" check box like the older printer.
Without it, color-managed prints come out "naturally saturated" on any of the wonderful ICC-profiled papers I've tried even when I want them artificially popping with saturation.  Here's an analogy for us old guys:  despite the monitor displaying Velvia-like saturation, the print comes out with relatively subdued Kodachrome-like saturation.
BTW, this difference shows up in the excellent "Print Preview" function.  Is any of this a failing of the Pro-10 or for that matter any other pigment-ink printer?  Nope!  It's simply the way pigment inks perform versus dye inks.
So, lacking a "Vivid" check box, what's the fix?   On another forum a member suggested going back into the image editor and pumping the color saturation way up by 30 points!   (BTW, when you do this, you'll want to save the modified file with new file name to protect the original)
I tried it.  What I saw on the screen scared me!   I couldn't believe the garish image would print well.  Yet, it did beautifully.  In fact, depending on your photo editing software, you might even want to go as high as 40 color saturation points to get the saturation "pop" you're looking for.
If you, too, have been missing the "Vivid" check box, give this fix a try.  I think you'll be glad you did.
(Pssst!  Hey, Canon software guys . . . Really!  Where's the "Vivid" function?  Put it back in, please!)

Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Reading your post, it sounds like you have done the correct printer queue setup. But since the 3380 is printing mostly blank sheets with the Canon PPD or Generic PostScript selected, this would be an indication that the printer does not have the PostScript license installed.
So, one suggestion would be to use an alternate driver, such as the UFR2. Most iR copiers support the UFR2 language as standard, while PCL and PS can be options.
You can download the UK English version of the latest UFR2 driver that will support your iRC3380 via this link.
    http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0100212608.html
The UK English driver can be used in the US region (I wasn't sure where you are located). The LTR and LGL sizes are still supported. I think the primary difference is the naming of the Canon devices.
Anyway, with this driver installed, you can add the printer queue again, just the same as you have done previously, but this time in the Print Using menu you need to select "Canon iR C Series UFR II (UK)".
See if this works for you and reply if needed.

  • Sharing printer - set up help

I have my powerbook connected via my airport extreme base station and my dell laptop connected via the ethernet port of the same base station, both connect to the internet perfectly.
I have a DYMO label printer connected into the USB port of the base station and my powerbook see its and prints to it perfectly...
how do i get the dell to do the same via the ethernet connection, it should be possible...?

You can probably find the information you need on iFelix's web site.

  • Default printer setting

I have a Canon printer set up as the default printer on my Mac. I also have a Dymo label printer that I use occasionally.Althought the Canon printer is the default printer whenever I choose to print from the Dymo printer (using the printer dialogue box - not changing any default settings) the computer never defaults back to the Canon printer. The next time I print, I must remember to open the dialogue box and change it back to the Canon. I usually forget and end up running out a bunch of expensive labels as the computer trys to print a document to the label printer.
Is there another setting that actually makes the computer default back to the default printer after a certain period of time?
I am using Mac OS 10.7.4 and have the latest firmware and software updates for both printers.

Before I print anything I have a question. When
printing and selecting a printer does if no printer
is selected does it take the default printer from the
computer being used? Depends on the application.
Some desktop apps allow you to choose from among all the printers installed on the client machine.
This assumes that you have a printer installed on the computer in question. Do you? One is designated as the default. If the app doesn't prompt you, chances are good that it's using the default. (But it's not guaranteed.)
    Our office has over 200
printers and unfortunately this is the first time we
have had to print anything. Typically it is
    paperless. Thanks for the help
E.C.I'll assume these are networked printers and not attached locally to a particular machine. Did you add the printer you wanted by searching on the network for a shared server?
200 printers in a paperless office? That's a lot of equipment sitting around doing nothing.
What operating system are you talking about?
What does any of this have to do with Java?

  • How do I set up a Canon printer that is asking for a WPS button?

I am trying to set up a Canon printer and cannot figure out how to do it with Airport Extreme as they are asking for a WPS button to be pushed....Please Help!

What operating system is being used on the computer that is configuring the printer and AirPort Extreme?
Apple has not supported the WPS type of setup for some time, so it may likely be necessary to use the manual setup option to configure the printer. Check the printer documentation for that procedure.
In this type of setup, the printer connects just like a laptop. You search for the wireless network, select it and enter the password to connect.

  • Printer (Canon Pixma iP6600d) setup help iMac, TC, and Windows XP laptop

So here's my issue: I have my Canon printer connected to my time capsule. It shows up in airport utility as being connected. I have it set up on my iMac (ethernet connection to the TC) as the default printer, and there are no issues. I have a windows XP laptop (work computer) connected via wireless to the internet via the TC (Airport). Bonjour, running on the windows laptop does not see/recognize any available printers when I run the wizard. So, even though it appears to be set up as a shared printer, I can't get to it wirelessly from my PC. Please help!

Open Control Panel > Windows Firewall. If you have the firewall enabled, check that the setting "Don't allow exceptions", located under the General tab, is not enabled.
Also, if the firewall is enabled, click the Exceptions tab and ensure you can see Bonjour in the list and it is enabled (tick in the box).
Actually, as a brief test, you could disable the firewall to see if this is the cause of the printer not appearing. A working PC will show the Airport printer immediately after searching.

  • I just had a new hard disc installed and now the LBP0000 canon printer does not work saying it can't connect to CCPD...connection refused! pls help!!?

I just had a new hard disc installed and now the LBP0000 canon printer does not work saying it can't connect to CCPD...connection refused! pls help!!?

You need to reinstall the printer driver, and set up the printer on the new hard drive.
The Canon site should have the driver. Download it and install.
Then go to Apple menu / System Preferences / Print & Fax and click the + (plus sign) and follow the directions.

  • How can I set up a Canon printer on iMac with cd? (iMac has no cd/dvd drive?)

Purchased the latest iMac with no dvd drive; also purchased a Canon printer with dvd set-up; how can I install printer on iMac?

Macs do not usually need to download anything from the CDs that come w/printers.  Read the user manual that came w/the printer and/or contact Canon Support.
Or purchase an external burner.  Do not purchase Apple's usb burner.  3rd party burners are 110% better.

  • How can I set Firefox to print to PDF, the only otions I have are (1) My Canon printer, (2) Fax or (3) Microsoft XPS document writer. There is no option for PDF

A couple of weeks ago, from the file menu, in my print options was to print a web page to PDF, that facility is no longer there. does anyone know how can I set Firefox to print to PDF.
The only options I have are (1) My Canon printer, (2) Fax or (3) Microsoft XPS document writer. There is no option for PDF

Firefox generally displays the printers in Windows' Printers folder (Start orb > Devices and Printers). If it is missing one of the printers listed there, could you indicate which one it is, for example, Adobe Distiller, PrimoPDF, CutePDF Writer, etc.?
If you previously had an add-on which added print-to-PDF functionality just to Firefox, perhaps it got disabled. You could check here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions
Also, are you really running Firefox 8.0.1? That version from last November is no longer secure and has been superseded by Firefox 11. If you browse the web widely, you should update for your security.

  • HP Officejet pro 8500 won't print and keeps asking for a proxy setting. Help.

HP Officejet pro 8500 won't print and keeps asking for a proxy setting. Help.

    Hi,
Can you confirm that you have an Officejet 8500a or Officejet 8500? On the 8500a model, you can set the networks proxy address and port setting from the front panel of the printer (setup>Webservices setup>proxy). If you are unsure what your proxy settings are you'll need to contact your network admin. If your network uses a proxy users name and password for all devices, you need to enter this information along with the proxy address and port in the printers embedded web server. Type the products IP address into an internet brownser window (printer must be connected to the same network as PC). Select the network tab, and than look for the proxy settings option. Enter in the information and click apply. Once the networks proxy information has been correctly inputed into the embedded web server, try printing again. If unsuccessfully, you might try reinstalling the printer software after uninstalling it. Hope this helps!

  • How can I set up the canon printer mf4380dn for macbook pro MD318

I can not set up the canon printer mf4380dn for macbook pro MD318 even thought I set up the printing driver already. The printer usually work good for printing via windows laptop.
I tried some way but error appear "unable to verify the printer on your network". I printing IP is available

Upgrade your RAM to at least 4GB's.  Your machine can support 6GB's, but upgrade to 4GB's first. Regardless of what Apple says, you need at least 4GB's to run Lion properly.
