Cant chane sys password

hi experts,
i am trying to change sys password in oracle 10g XE, but it is accepting any password.i used ORAPWD utility to change password, bounce the database, but still it is accepting any password.
how come this happen?
plz guide.its urgent.

I am trying to make installation of db vault to r12.0.6 -db version 10.2.0.3.... While i trying to install i have this error:
10150:Error: You must provide the existing SYS password for the into which Oracle Database Vault will be installed. in component Oracle Database Vault Scripts 10.2.0.3.0 .Installation cannot continue
for this component.
anyone has idea?
PS: i found note and it says :
User Selected: Stop installation of this component only.
The workaround is to safely ignore the error.
but if i selected this option i back to begging and after next step its wait %90 and dont pass next step

Ther is no log for it... its just through error message... by the way i run /runinstaller from my r12 oracle_home/oui/bin and show xml path where i unzipped oracle vault folder .
If i try to run /runinstall from oracle vault folder its gives me that error:
Your db version must be atleast 0.2.0.3 or higher...
My oraInst.loc shows true patch and value of. my db version is 10.2.0.3...
This server has r11 and discover too.. somehow OUI cant see my db version

SYSTEM and SYS password 11g on Windows Vista

I am having trouble. I do not know my SYSTEM and SYS passwords. I am using oracle 11g on windows vista. I tried to change the passwords but that did not work. I tried this:
c:/>sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
c:/>show user
c:/>passw system
then I changed the password. When I tried to log in the password change did not take effect. Any help would be great!

There is no default password for sys and system in 11g.
you cna use the below command to change the system or sys password
alter user SYSTEM identified by PASWORD
same for sys
nOTE: password are case sensitive.Regards,

If you cannot remember the email address you used as your apple ID, try iforgot.apple.com.
Once you know your apple ID, you can try to reset your password.

I renamed my database. Everything is working fine except I can not change sys password. If I try I get: ORA-28003 : password verified for the specified password failed.
I can change system's password. I can log on just fine as SYSI think my pwdsid.ora password file may be the problem.
Has anyone every had this happen?

Have you set some specific password rules? Is the function VERIFY_FUNCTION available for all and is it valid?
Did you try to change the password for user sys with user sys?
Try it with some different user which have the rights for that... (for example sys) only for testing...

But from prompt it works well.

Any idea why. You are using os authentication thats the reason you are able to connect through command prompt.
Do you have any connections settings in sql developer.

Your home network must have a wireless router somewhere in the house. All of your wireless devices use the same router password to connect to the network. That's where the password is stored and used. Log into your wireless network router and look under the wireless menu section. You should find your password there. If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support
If the email ID you want to use is in use by someone else - then you may need a new one
The iCloud ID's are usually unique and may be of help if you set one up

Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
Use iTunes to restore iPad.

This is with refernece to my earlier post, i can now login as a DBA thry OS authentication.

but now i try to vreate a new password file and it successfully created using orapwd....
but when i try to login as a sys user thru oracle authentication i couldn't because i am getting an error
"INSUFFICIENT PRIVELEGES"
and another thing i would like to know do i have to shutdown the database or not for the same.

Setting REMOTE_LOGIN_ PASSWORDFILE
In addition to creating the password file, you must also set the initialization parameter REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE to the appropriate value. The values recognized are:
NONE: Setting this parameter to NONE causes Oracle Database to behave as if the password file does not exist. That is, no privileged connections are allowed over nonsecure connections.
EXCLUSIVE: (The default) An EXCLUSIVE password file can be used with only one instance of one database. Only an EXCLUSIVE file can be modified. Using an EXCLUSIVE password file enables you to add, modify, and delete users. It also enables you to change the SYS password with the ALTER USER command.
SHARED: A SHARED password file can be used by multiple databases running on the same server, or multiple instances of a Real Application Clusters (RAC) database. A SHARED password file cannot be modified. This means that you cannot add users to a SHARED password file. Any attempt to do so or to change the password of SYS or other users with the SYSDBA or SYSOPER privileges generates an error. All users needing SYSDBA or SYSOPER system privileges must be added to the password file when REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE is set to EXCLUSIVE. After all users are added, you can change REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE to SHARED, and then share the file.
This option is useful if you are administering multiple databases or a RAC database.
If REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE is set to EXCLUSIVE or SHARED and the password file is missing, this is equivalent to setting REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE to NONE.

I am trying to login as a sys user....
but icouldn't, i am getting an error ORA-01017...
but i have entered correct username and password....
still i am not able to login into the system........
now, should i create new password by deleting the old pasword file or there is another way also....

I guess even if you connect with "nolog" still you will receieve the same error.
Please confirm these things,
1)Are you are running all teh commands on the server itself.
2)What is the value of the parameter SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES in the sqlnet.ora.This parameter value in the case of windows should be set to NTS.Check what's teh value?
3)Confirm that the user (o/s user) through which you have logged in the system,it is a part of ora_dba group in your system.
Confirm and let us know the outputs.

Cant import my password file in my laptop (*.xml).

I have one computer with all password (x64). And now i want to get it into my laptop (x86).
In x64 computer i took " export password " in settings. So now i it is a *.xml file.
When i go into my laptop, so i cant find "import password" ?
What should i do?

The "Export passwords" option is not a standard feature of Firefox. You probably have the Password Exporter extension installed on the computer that you exported the passwords on. If you install this extension on the other computer, you should be able to import the xml file.
