  • Cant create Java VM

When i try to start Sun Java Studio Creator, it gives me an error saying "Can't create Java VM" on Windows 2000 Professional platform. Can you please let me know what is the problem?
    Thanks

    I had JDK 142_03 installed. I couldnt find jv.dll in winnt/system32.
I had "cant create Java VM" problem all of a sudden without any changes to my JDK or path settings. It was working fine before and gave me this problem all of a sudden when i tried to restart the IDE. However, i did uninstall and reinstall Creator.
The Tutorial link in Welcome window doesnt send the URL to browser if i click the same more than once. (It sends the URL for the first time the IDE starts)
    Two more questions :
    1. What is the reason behind the sample web services in Server Navigator getting disappeared in the IDE all of a sudden? (happened few times for me)
    2. The Deployment server fails to start so many times from the IDE and when i try to start using "Start default server". (most of the times log shows me JMS Exceptions). How about Add deployment server features??

    Hi,
Issue gets resolved by  extracting manualy from JAVA_DVD_DIR/J2EE_OSINDEP/J2EEINSTALL.SAR to SAPINST install directory using SAPCAR. The path of this install directory is:/tmp/sapinst_instdir/NW04S/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS/install as:
    > pwd
    /tmp/sapinst_instdir/NW04S/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS/install
    > SAPCAR -xvf /SW/NW_2004s_SR1Java_based_SW_Comp/J2EE_OSINDEP/J2EE-INST/J2EEINSTALL.SAR
Once we have extracted the J2EEINSTALL.SAR relaunch SAPINST again and the installation continue.
    Regards
    Joy garg
Once you will have extracted the J2EEINSTALL.SAR please launch SAPINST again and the installation will continue.

  • How to create different log files for each of web applications deployed in OC4J

    Hi All,
I am using OC4J(from Oracle) v1.0.2.2 and Windows2000. Now I want to know
    1. how to create different log files for each of my deployed web applications ?
    2. what are the advantages in running multiple instances of oc4j and in what case we should run
    multiple instances of OC4J ?
    3. how to run OC4J as Windows2000 Service rather than Windows2000 Application ?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Kumar.

    Hi Avi,
First of all I have given a first reading to log4j and I think there will some more easy way of logging debugging messages than log4j (If you could provide me a detailed explanation of a servlet, jsp, java bean that uses log4j and how to use log4j then it will be very helpful for me). The other easy ways (if I am not using log4j) to my problem i.e creating different log files for each of web applications deployed in oc4j are
I have created multiple instances of OC4J that are configured to run on different ports and so on each instance I have deployed a single web application . And I started the 2 oc4j instances by transferring thier error/log messages to a file. And the other way is ..
I have download from jakarta site a package called servhelper . This servhelper is a thread that is started in a startup servlet and stopped in the destroy method of that startup servlet. So this thread will automatically capture all the system.out.println's and will print those to a file. I believe that this thread program is synchronized. So in this method I need not run multiple instances of OC4J instead each deployed web application on single instance of oc4j uses the same thread program (ofcourse a copy of thread program is put in each of the deployed web applications directories) to log messages on to different log files.
Can you comment on my above 2 approached to logging debugging messages and a compartive explanation to LOG4J and how to use LOG4J using a simple servlet, simple jsp is appreciated ...
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ravi.

    set CLASSPATH=.;.\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;.\lib\weblogic.jar;D:\Program Files\Microsoft
SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC\lib\msbase.jar;D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server 2000 Driver for JDBC\lib\msutil.jar;D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server
2000 Driver for JDBC\lib\mssqlserver.jar;I suggest moving or copying the three ms driver jars to a directory that has no blanks
in it so the classpath doesn't have blanks in it. Ie:
go to the "D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC\lib"
    directory and do this:
    mkdir D:\microsoft_jdbc_driver
    cp *.jar D:\microsoft_jdbc_driver
Then make the classpath include D:\microsoft_jdbc_driver\msbase.jar etc.

    for
basic JDBC, but the MS drivfer is preferable in some ways.

  • Error while installing SOA, "Could not create java virtual machine"

I am trying to install SOA latest release, but am getting an error stating "Could not create java virtual machine" and just that. No log, nothing. Could anybody help me out on this?

Is JRE installed on your machine?
If yes it may get corrupted, try to remove and reinstall jre again. Then try to install SOA.
