Cant delete task notification in Outlook 2010

In my Office we use Outlook 2010 and I assign tasks to various people.  When they accept the task I receive a notification however in the last few days I have received a few notifications that I can't delete.  When I select the notification in
my Inbox it says "This item cannot be displayed in the Reading Pane.  Open the item to read its contents" however if I try to open it I get "Cannot open this item.  The attempted operation failed.  An object could not be found."
If I try to delete the task notification I get "The attempted operation failed. An object could not be found.".
I've tried running the repair function but it didn't help.  How can I fix this so it doesn't happen going forward and delete these email?
Thank you for the help!

Hi,
The first thing you need to do is to make sure Outlook is fully patched.
Some anti-virus program may cause this issue, to verify that, please disable the firewall and anti-virus program, then start Outlook, check if the issue persists.
You can also run Outlook in Safe Mode to determine if it's 3rd-party add-ins related:
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
Note For the steps above, I suggest you test with the new notifications.
You can also try the following and check if it helps:
Click on the File menu –> Options, navigate to Advanced tab and scrolled down to Send and receive section, then click on the Send/Receive button. In the ‘Send/Receive Groups’ window, click on Edit tab. In the
‘Send/Receive Settings’ window, click to select the email account under ‘Accounts’ and then click to select the ‘Download Complete Items’ option. Make sure the option “Download only headers for items larger then” is unchecked/not selected and click on Ok.

What are the minimum requirements to successfully Synchronize a SharePoint 2010 Calendar or Task List with Outlook 2010?
SharePoint permission levels required for the user profile?
Does the user need top level permissions on the SharePoint site?
What other minimum requirements must be met for Outlook 2010 to synchronize successfully with SharePoint 2010?

    Hi,
To synchronize these libraries and lists, you must have Outlook 2010 installed on your client computer and you must have Collaborate permission to the library or list.
You don’t need any permissions for the user profile.

  • Delete Button Disabled in Outlook 2010 with Exchange 2013

I recently switched from a 3rd party mail software to Microsoft Exchange.  I have had some users ask me why the Delete button is disabled.  I didn't enable any special policy to cause this, and the Delete key on the keyboard will delete messages.
The disabled Delete button I am referring to is in the Home ribbon and the right-click menu for selected e-mail(s).  Is this standard behavior for Exchange, and can it be changed?

It so happens that I have an XP VM with Outlook 2007.  That having been said, as previously mentioned, before testing, I (thought I) could confirm the same consistent behavior in the following configurations:
    WinXP + Outlook 2003
    Win7 + Outlook 2010
Each of these systems was using a different user account, and I have tried folderview repairs in EMC to no avail.
Strangely, WinXP + Outlook 2007 does not appear to exhibit the behavior.  In this test case, the profile and OST were just created, but switching to folderview or moving the reading pane to the bottom did not affect the behavior.
Given that information, I proceeded to re-verify, and I hadn't checked winXP + Outlook 2003 because the computer in question had been upgraded to Outlook 2010.  However, I verified the issue does still exist there.  Next, I proceeded to check another
computer that I thought would be WinXP + Outlook 2003, but it had also been upgraded to Outlook 2010.  This computer did not have the issue, and this leads me to a new theory about the cause (but no closer to resolution).  For the record, of the
three computers (two exhibiting the issue, one not), only one has the Adobe plugin mentioned in my last post in response to Diane Poremsky, so the issue doesn't appear to be related to that.
That said, my theory follows:  This is somehow related to IMAP in Outlook 2010.  The computers that exhibit the issue were all previously running IMAP in Outlook 2010, and the IMAP PST filse were imported using the MailboxImportRequest feature.
I suspect this is related because of other issues that happen for these accounts.  For instance, all new e-mail was only visible in OWA and not Outlook on all folders on these accounts, and I have had to have the users reset filters in the view settings
for each folder individually.  I don't remember exactly which filter was somehow imported, but it definitely had to do with IMAP.  This may be another red herring, but the behavior is consistent with it.  I should also note that this behavior
did NOT exist when they were connected via IMAP to the old (non MS) server.  I should also note that the filter behavior is somehow stored on the server (and therefore I imagine the delete button behavior could be as well), because creating a new Windows
Profile  (and as such, a new Outlook profile and OST file) on a new computer did not make the IMAP filters go away.

  • Ymail user deletes appointment sent by Outlook 2010 user

    Hello,
An Outlook 2010 user sent an appointment to about 20 individuals, some gmail, some ymail, some exchange users.  The ymail user deleted the appointment from their calendar because
they could not attend, and the deletion removed the appointment from the originating user (Exchange/outlook 2010) calendar, and automatically sent cancellation notices to all of the other users.
What is going on here?  Thanks in advance,

    Hello,
Normally, the recipient will not delete appointment from the organizer's calendar.
Please make sure you use exchange version. If you use exchange 2010/2013, I recommend you use Get-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity the organizer's SMTP Address:\calendar | fl cmdlet to level permissions for a folder.
Besides, please check if the issue occurs when other users( such as gmail users or exchange users) delete appointment.

When I am trying to share calendar/tasks/contacts I get this massage " Error while preparing to send sharing message"
After testing it's a lot I have figured out that the problem is with the some updates.
I found when I removed some updates I can share everything without any problem.
    The updates I removed are:

    KB2553248
    KB2553406
    KB2687623
    KB2794707

There is any Hotfix/Solution to fix this problem without uninstalled this updates?
    Regards,
    Dvir

    Hi,
Do other features in Outlook work well? Like viewing free/busy information or opening other’s folder that shared to you? Receive/send messages? Access OOF? Please check these.
Please run Test Email AutoConfiguration to check your autodiscover service and Exchange web service. If all configured properly, we can create a new Outlook profile to have a try.

  • IPAD3 does not automatically update after deleting a contact from Outlook 2010 over ICloud

I've noticed that when deleting a contact on my IPAD 3, it automatically deletes the contact on my PC (Outlook 2010 set up for ICloud).  However it doesn't work or update the other way around.
I can edit an existing contact on Outlook, or add a new contact on Outlook, and that always updates on the IPAD3.. But it doesn't update on the IPAD when deleting from Outlook which is strange.
If I delete all the contacts on the IPAD and then re-sync once again to ICloud, then it is as it should be and any previously deleted PC contacts, do not show on the IPAD.
Any thoughts as to what might be happening?

    Hi Kumar,
Please remove the codeline $List.Update();, then run your code again, it works for me.
You may need to firstly delete the synced contacts list within Outlook to remove those undeleted accounts, then re-connect the SharePoint contacts list to outlook, then run your modified Powershell code.
    Thanks

  • Getting Accepted Notification in Outlook 2010

I have an admin who sent a calendar invite to a bunch of people.  When those people "accepted" one user got all 30 notifications and he was not the originator.  The admin was the was the one who sent the invite.  Never had this happened
before to the admin.  Any ideas?

    Hi,
Please check whether the admin has granted that specific user delegate permission to his/her calendar:
    Go to File>Account Settings>Delegate Access
Check the delegate information on "Delegates" dialog

  • How do I delete iCloud calendars from Outlook 2010?

I installed the iCloud control panel on my Windows 7 PC.
The results were not what I expected.
I wish to remove the iCloud calendars from Outlook. The program is not allowing me to do this.
I have already uninstalled the iCloud control panel from my PC.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problems with iCloud and this thread helped me get rid of the duplicate calendars.  Thanks!  Things are mostly back to normal.  But even though my iCloud calendar appears to be gone, I'm now getting two reminders for every event.  Any idea how to get rid of the duplicate reminders?
More info: Using Win 7 and OL 2007. The only calendar selections available are my normal calendar and my archived calendar. The events that are sending out reminders don't appear in the archived calendar.  Under Other Calendars I still see a calendar group called "iCloud" but there's nothing under the title.  Nothing extra shows up in Data File Management.  I tried this suggestion but don't see any duplicated events:

  • How to know if delete series or occurrence in outlook 2010 in calendar from right click menu from UI?

I need delete one series in outlook 2010, but when check this item by
    OlRecurrenceState recurState = olApptNotRecurring;
    m_spItem->get_RecurrenceState(&recurState);
recurState is always occurrence. I want to know which menu item I selected "Delete Series" or "Delete Occurrence"?

    Hello,
    The
GetOccurrence method of the RecurrencePattern class returns a specific instance of the AppointmentItem object
on the specified date. Then you may call the
Delete method of the AppointmentItem class which removes the item from the folder that contains the item.
The Delete method moves the item from the containing folder to the Deleted Items folder.
If the containing folder is the Deleted Items folder, theDelete method removes the item permanently.
    The
RecurrenceState property of the MailItem class returns an OlRecurrenceState constant
indicating the recurrence property of the specified object. You can use it to determine whether it belongs to the recurrence or exceptions and etc.
Be aware, when you work with recurring appointment items, you should release any prior references, obtain new references to the recurring appointment item before you access or modify the item, and release these references as soon as you are
finished and have saved the changes. This practice applies to the recurring AppointmentItem object, and any Exception or RecurrencePattern object.
    Finally, you may find the

  • Deleted messages from Outlook 2010 still appear on iPhone and OWA

I have a very odd issue.  When I delete e-mails from Outlook 2010, they are deleted fine.  However, when I check my mail on my iPhone, or on the Outlook Web Access, the e-mail is still there.  I'm not sure what is going on.  Our e-mail
is set up on an Exchange Server.  Is there a setting in Outlook that is not deleting the e-mail from the server?
    Thanks

    Hi Joseph,
Could the emails be deleted via OWA and not displaying in Outlook?
Please try to create a new profile and set it to online mode, then test the issue and see if it still appears in OWA.
If it doesn’t work, I’d recommend you contact with Exchange admin for further troubleshooting.

  • Task Request not updating in Outlook 2010

My manager has sent me a few Task Requests in Outlook 2010. He receives an email message saying I've accepted the task but he cannot see any notes I write in the task, even though he ticks the "keep an updated copy of the task on my task list".
He can just see a copy of the original task he sent to me.
I am the only one this does not work for, everyone else can see updated tasks absolutely fine and weirdly, if I send him a task and he accepts it, I can see any updates he makes (note that this is without pressing the "send status report" button.)
    Any ideas?

  • Outlook 2010 task list on right pane not visible, problem in exchange mailbox?

We are using Outlook 2010 and Exchange 2010.
When I try open the task pane in outlook 2010 I get the following error: “Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are not valid.”
Steps to resolve the problem so far:
    start outlook.exe with command line parameters /resetfolders /resetnavpane /resettodobar
    scanpst.exe
    removed ost, new syschronization
moved mailbox between databases (no errors)
started New-MailboxRepairRequest with all four corruption types (no errors)
New-MailboxExportRequest for tasks, removed all tasks, problem with outlook client still exists, reimport all tasks
    reinstallation of office
create new profile on another machine, problem exists on there too.
All steps did not help. It seems the problem is connected with the exchange mailbox. Anything else I can do?
    Thank you for ur help.
    Andy

    Hi James,
thank you for the tip. We tried it, but it did not help.
We removed the Task Folder with MFCMAPI and started Outlook with /resetfolders. We saw the empty Folder. When i turn on the right navigation pane and  let display my task list i get the "Could not complete the .." error, even now with empty Task
list. I then reimported a backup of the Task Folder.
I think the Mailbox on the Server is corrupt in some way, but the Problem is not connected to data in the Task Folder.
Any other idea? Maybe its best to remove the Mailbox and create a new one?
    thank you,
    Andy

  • No new mail notification in Outlook - CAS Exchange RPC Client Access problem

    Hi, we're facing this problem:
Users start complaining they suddenly don’t receive new mail notifications in Outlook (2010/2013)  anymore
Inbox does not show the new mail either
When the user changes folders in outlook, the new mail does show in the Inbox folder
Restarting Outlook shows the new mail as well.
The same new e-mail arrives instantly (with notifications) in Owa and on mobile devices
Sometimes the new mail notification pops up after a longer period of time (from 30 seconds to 10 minutes). But more often not at all.
This issue seems to occur at random. We’ve been problem free for a week, and sometimes it comes back three times a day.
Clients running Outlook 2010, 2013 cached or online, on site and off site. So it seems server related, not client.
It was seen first around January 8th. We did not make any changes around that time that we can link to this problem.
Only one CAS server (EXCH1-RTD) shows this issue. CAS servers on other sites are ok
EXCH1-RTD has CAS and HUB transport roles. The same site has two mailbox only servers. EXCH2-RTD (mailbox server for normal mailboxes). And EXCH3-RTD (mailbox server for archive mailboxes)
No entries in the event logs that seems to be related
As the problem only occurs with Outlook clients, I suspected RPC issues. We cannot gracefully stop the “Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access” service on EXCH1-RTD  while the issue occurs. We
can only kill the process and restart the service, solving the issue instantly.
    What we’ve tried until now:
Updated all Exchange servers from Exchange 2010 SP3 RU6 to RU8-v2 (server OS=W2K8R2)
Updated all Exchange servers  to latest critical Windows updates
Recalculated requirements using MS Sizing tool.  Upgraded EXCH1-RTD  VM from 8GB and 2 vCPU (1 core/cpu) to 16GB
    and 4vCPU (1 core/cpu)
Ran various perfmon counters and compared them with other Exchange servers, not finding any obvious anomalies.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
    Ron

    Hi Ron,
From your description, OWA works well, the issue is related to Outlook side. In your case, I recommend you use Outlook safe mode to determine whether the issue is related to add-ins. If the issue persists, you can create a new profile to check the result.
Hope this can be helpful to you.

  • Restore Anonymous permission in outlook 2010

    Hi All
user wronly deleted anonymous permission in outlook 2010 calendar. How to restore the anonymous permission. I have tried the below powershell commands but didnt work. Our environment is currently running Exchange 2010 SP2 Rollup5 V2.
Add-mailboxpermission -identity username -user "anonymous Logon" -accessrights None
Add-mailboxpermission -identity username -user anonymous -accessrights None
Set-mailboxFolderpermission -identity username:\calendar -user anonymous -accessrights None.
    Please advice.
    Regards
    senthilkumar

The Anonymous permission isn't needed/used as it applies to unauthenticated accounts. This is basically only needed for mail enabled Public Folders to allow Internet delivery.
An alternative way to control permissions at server-level is to do it via ExFolders:

  • Can't modify/delete Outlook 2010 Contact Group

I've got a user who created a new Contact Group in Outlook 2010 and now can't modify or delete the group.  Other groups she's created before or since do not exhibit this behavior.  Also, when you bring up the properties of the group, the window
looks different than the other groups and the icon in the top left of the window just has the card with no people in front of it.

    Hi,
A Contact Group, known in previous Outlook versions as a distribution list, is a grouping of e-mail addresses collected under one name. A message sent to a Contact Group goes to all recipients listed in the
group. You can include Contact Groups in messages, task requests, meeting requests, and in other Contact Groups.
