Cant export large satellite image in BMP format

I loaded a satellite  image stored in TIFF format 35681x16716 x 24 bits per pixel
I wanted to convert it to BMP but when I want to save as there was no such option why?
There wasn't PNG either. GIMP a free software program was able to load the TIFF and export as PNG
CS5 cant even do that.  But GIMP could not export to BMP as it died on export.
So my question is how do I get this to work? How do I export this huge image to BMP?

I wanted to convert it to BMP but when I want to save as there was no such option why?
Because all image formats are constrained in some way and PS in particular will not save/ export anything beyond 32000 pixesl to those legacy formats, even if they may in theory allow more. It simply can't be done.

  • Q1:Export drawingpane to image (gif,bmp,jpg) and Q2: printers

    Hi
Q1:Does Java have functionality for exporting awt graphics in the drawingpane to an imagefile with some common imageformat, like gif, bmp or jpg?
Q2:Does Java ... for sending awt graphics in the drawingpane to a printer, so it can be viewed on regular paper?
Id like to add an export menu in my viewer and export the graphics to an imagefile.....and it would also be nice if I could use a printer function.

    Hi,
there is no direct export function. However, it's easy enough to export to an image:
1.) Create a BufferedImage of the same size as your canvas
2.) Invoke getGraphics() on the image to obtain a Graphics instance
3.) Invoke paint(Graphics) on your canvas with the image's graphics
4.) Write the image using ImageIO.write(...). It supports all major image formats.
Exporting to a printer is a bit more tricky, I can't provide any 'solid' information on that right now as I don't have access to my source samples.

  • Can you export aperture file in bmp format?

I have a game that I would like to combine picture files with, the game only recognizes bmp files. I import the files (as bmp files) into Aperture and edit them and when I export them they always come out as jpeg files. Is there anyway I can export them in the bmp format?
    Thanks

Using Applescript it is possible to do the conversion using Image Events.  This script (modified from a script I found online) will convert the selected image into BMP format saving it as a new file:
set this_file to choose file without invisibles
set the target_file to (choose file name default name "newimage.bmp")
-- convert file reference in alias format to path string
set the target_path to the target_file as Unicode text
    try
              tell application "Image Events"
-- start the Image Events application
      launch
      -- open the image file
                        set this_image to open this_file
      -- save in new file
save this_image as BMP in target_path with icon
-- purge the open image data
      close this_image
              end tell
    on error error_message
display dialog error_message buttons {"Cancel"} default button 1
    end try

  • Print images in PNG and BMP formats

I have converted images from xwd to bmp by using JAI. now I want to print them.
How can I print PNG and BMP Files? How can I read images in different formats and make them print.
    Please help me !

JAI follows the Java 2D printing model. All you need to do is to read your PNG, BMP images as RenderedImage, Renderable, or BufferedImage objects. To print an image, draw the image object on the printer's graphics context using one of drawImage(), drawRenderedImage(), and drawRenderableImage() methods of the Graphics2D class.
I have some sample code at http://www.geocities.com/larryhr/samplecode/samplecode.html. See the Printing section. JAIImagePrint.java should give you some indication as to how to print images read by the JAI codec.

Raws, even if not compressed, Sould be smaller than a 24-bit Tiff, since they have only one bitplane. My T3i shoots 14 bit 18MP raws and has a raw file size of 24.5 MB*. An uncompressed Tiff should have a size of 18 MP x 3 bytes per pixel or 54 MB.
*There must be some lossless compression going on since 18 MP times 1.75 bytes per pixel is 31.5MB for uncompressed raw.

  • Can i format the drive to ntfs - cant save large files

i bought the TimeCapsole Extreeme AC but i cant save large files - can i format the drives to NTFS??
is there any other soultion to this?
    Tx

The thing is that in windows its a map drive that i can see the files but cant save large files(more then 4GB)
Ok.. I am rather shocked but of course the problem is entirely windows.. The drive is formatted HFS+ and a 3TB drive has no file size limitation other than the drive size.
Windows for some stupid reason when it maps drives has decided it must be FAT32 and applied that.
Get rid of the drive mapping.. !!
Try accessing it via network.. ie
\\TCIPaddress and see if you can get around the 4GB file size barrier. If not I will take another look at the problem.. although I have to say windows is windows..
It should see the TC as a NT Server and have no file size limitation at all.

  • Exporting Large videos as image sequences using Quick Time Convert

I am trying to export some fairly long videos as image sequences >10000 frames with Final Cut Pro using the quick time conversion tool.
I am working with SD and HD videos.
While some sequences export without error (both SD & HD) occasionally an "error" occurs which results in the 10000th frame (and in one case the 1000th frame) not being written. The File is opened as "MyVideoName#FFFFFFF.png" but no data is written to it. (Obviously it should be MyVideoName10000.png)
There is 500Gb of free space on the disk I am writing to.
At the moment I can't even work out why it fails in some instances - apart from the fact it seems to be related to the file name.
I would appreciate any help any one can offer!
    Thanks,
    John

    Thanks for your reply!
So far I've not managed to come up with a workable solution.
Exporting as an image sequence is infact a work around... I originally was planning to export the videos as uncompressed .avi files but (as documented elsewhere) this does not work for videos >10Gb.
Some videos have exported fine both those longer and shorter than 10000 frames. However, for some videos only the first 9999 frames are exported. As a workaround I was planning to export the remainder of the videos seperately (as a subclip) but this only managed to export the first 999 frames (the 1000th file opened is called MyVideoName#FFFFFFFF, but no data is written to it).
At the moment I can't find any explanation for the cause of this problem. Are there any logs or any way to get more detailed error information?
    Thanks again for your help,
    John

  • How to export high quality images from graphs

    Hello,
I am absolutely no expert in this subject, so it may be that I say some aberrations
So this is what I want to do:
I perform signal processing of vibration data with LabVIEW. What I get as results are a lot of graphs such as spectrums, waveforms, intensity graphs, 3d surface graphs, etc. being the most important the 3 firsts.
Then, of course, I need to write some reports or powerpoint presentations, and I need to show the plots as figures. The data that I have is very large, (a waveform is sampled at 1,25 MS/s and I am ploting 10 seconds) so I can only export the simplified version of the image to the by right clicking the graph and then I paste it in Paint and save it in bmp format.
Sometimes I need to add some text on the images, so I do that also in Paint. Finally I import the bmp image to the word/powerpoint document and save it.
When I make a report, I use one of the available tools to convert the word .doc document into a pdf document (this tools that are like a printer), so I get as a result a PDF with the text and the images.
As you can imagine, the final result is not so good, particulary on the images. They are not so clear. I have seen some pdf documents which have images so clear that you can zoom it all you want and nothing happens. I believe these images are stored on a vectorial format.
Well now I want to improve the quality of my reports so first of all I want to use some Latex software to write the text. And of course, I would like to have my graphs - generated by LabVIEW - in this vectorial format. Does anyone know how can I do this?
I have read something about a dll which creates some .wmf image file but I don´t know very much about it.
    thank you in advance,

  • How to export a transparent image  background for the web

    Hi Everyone
I have made a mock up webpage in adobe fireworks 5. I am  now in the process of using the slice tool to cut up the seperate parts and export them to dreamwever.
My question is this: how do i slice the images in such a way that the background is transparent .
Also,  when exporting the image that i have just made trasparent,  what do i need to do to expot it as a transparent background.
    warm regards
    Andreea

When you're ready to transfer your Fireworks layout to DW select FILE > Image Preview. In Options select Format PNG8 and beneath the color grid change the No Transparency dropdown to Alpha Transparency.
Click the Export button, name your file, choose the destination location, and in the dropdowns select Export > HTML and Images, HTML > Export HTML File, Slices > Export Slices, Pages > All Pages. (Also some choices may be handy for you in the Options button including Background Image for the exported file.)
PNG can be used, just as JPG, TIFF, PICT, BMP and GIF, all of which are in your Options > Format dropdown list.
Generally JPG is better for files that have gradients, GIF for simple images and text, but they don't do transparency so the larger PNG file is necessary for that.

  • Browser should show ALL images, in all formats.

I recently opened an image for editing from Lightroom to Photoshop, corrected some perspective distortion, and saved the result as a PNG.  Lightroom then failed to show the new image, even after I synchronized the folder.  A respondent in the Lightroom forum said that Lightroom doesn't support PNG, to which I ask, WTF?
Lightroom should support any format supported by Photoshop.  It displays JPEGs, which aren't a raw format.  Exactly how many products should we have to run concurrently to simply manage images?  Lightroom is supposed to be the product that does it, but if it fails to show all images in each directory, it fails at its purpose.

MikeLeone wrote: So you think LR should support BMP? PCX? How many cameras store their
photos in these formats? PS supports them, but why should LR?
I'll agree with support for PNG, at least as far as exporting, as some
web sites like using this format rather than JPEG (although the
reasons for using PNG aren't technical, but legal, AFAIK - licensing
for using the JPG format - rather than something technical, like
    smaller file size, etc).
Very true, though I am more arguing that LR should be able to leverage formats available to other Adobe products installed on the same machine more than anything.
BMP and PCX, no most cameras don't use those formats *anymore*. But I remember having an old camera that took photos in BMP format (it may have been a webcam, but still a camera) which I have in my library from a long time ago. In my day job we still actually use applications that suprisingly enough can only display PCX images; though I never would intentionally keep anything in PCX.
I think anything it is able to import it should be able to export; but again if you have it natively supported in the Adobe product or universally supported by the OS without additional codec installation it should be supported, even if it is something obscure as PCX.
    MikeLeone wrote:
That should be a feature request for the camera manufacturers, then,
shouldn't it? Ask them to share their non-published, proprietary
drivers with Adobe? Or at the very least, publish an API so LR (and
presumably, other programs) can call the code (presuming that the code
is modular enough to be called by other programs, of course).
Yeah, I understand that neither Canon nor Nikon are supporting DNG files straight out of the camera yet and both still maintain a propreitary formated RAW file, but I would suspect that generally a Canon .CR2 file doesn't change all that much if at all other than the camera identifier from a 20D to a 5D Mk II to the 7D for example.
Why do current Lightroom users need to wait until Adobe releases 2.6 or 3.0 to be able to use Lightroom with their 7D?
Why if Adobe releases a Camera RAW update for PS that includes the 7D does it still not work in LR?
Yes the mfg. need to be more open or pick a standard and run with it, but it just seems excessive for Adobe not to play nice too.
It is in Canon/Nikon/Adobe's best interest to play nice and share this information with Adobe. So I am betting they are not withholding it. I was getting Canon SDK notifications for the longest time and sometimes months before a Camera was available, and sometimes it was even annouced this information was made available to developers on new camera models. I am sure Nikon does the same thing and Adobe is getting this information from all mfg.

  • "print" command in Mathscript not saving plots in BMP format!

    Hi guys,
i am trying to create a vi that will automatically generate a pdf report for my project. I found a way to save the report directly as pdf (that is, i "print" my report to a virtual PDF printer (PDFCreator) that saves the file automatically to a specific folder with the date/time as its name. So this was the first step to making the procedure automatic).
I am stuck in the next level, which is adding to the report not labview's bad-looking graphs, but the plots generated through the Mathscript.
So, after adding as input "a" my data to the mathscript node, i use the following commands:
    figure
    plot(a)
    print image
Now, what this sequence does is make a nice plot of my data and then save it as "image.eps" in the default folder.
However, the eps format is not at all useful to me as i cannot import the plot with the "Append Image To Report.vi". This vi supports only BMP, GIF, WMF, EMF and JPG formats.
So, i want to save the plot from mathscript as BMP. This is supposedly possible, however i have not been able to find a way. The "print" command help for Labview 2011 Mathscript reads:
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/373123B-01/lvtextmath/msfunc_print/
    Syntax
    print
    print(a)
    print(file)
    print(a, file)
    Description
Print the plot window or save it into a file in either BMP or EPS format. If the plot window to save is an image plot or a 3D plot, the file must be in BMP format. For other kinds of plots, both BMP and EPS formats are supported.
There is no way for me to choose which format i want and it automatically chooses eps. If i use the command
    print image.bmp
it gives me back an error. So, adding the .bmp ending is not the way to go.
All in all, it is crucial for me to export the plot in BMP format (so as to import it in the report generation), but i cannot find a way, althouth it is supposed to work.
    Any ideas????
    Thanks
    PS. I run Labview 2011 SP1
    Solved!

    Thanks a lot ttrr!!

  • Exporting a background image to PDF

    Hello
We have a very large report (100 pages long) and have a series of background images set on the report. When viewing through BO XI R2 DeskI you can see the images, you can print the report. However when saving the report to PDF format the background image is not included on the export.
Can you advise if it is possible to export the background image out to PDF through DeskI and / or Webi and if so how.

  • Why Save Images as .bmp?

Just looking at all my project folders, we have hundreds and
hundreds of screen captures that are .bmp format.
I did my own test saving the same screen capture in different
formats - .bmp, .jpg, and .gif.
Results: .bmp is 955 KB, .jpg is 76 KB, and .gif is only 18
    KB.
With all these images being published to our server, I was
thinking it must be important to optimize images or else I would
think this could affect how quickly the pages load once online.
As a general rule, shouldn't all the screen captures be saved
as .gif? If so, why is the default for RoboScreenCapture set to
    save as Windows Bitmap?
    thanks!

Graphics Tips for browser-based Help Guides.
    ============================================
For any web-based application, whether web sites or Help
projects, try to minimise file sizes for quick download speeds, and
optimising image sizes can make a significant differnce. for screen
shotes, I strongly recommend kind of graphics package to reduce the
number of colours. I use Paint Shop Pro, but there are many others
on the market. (Sorry, MS Paint doesn't do what you need.)
    Which Image Format?
    ===================
    BITMAP
These cause HUGE file sizes, and you should never need to use
them. I just took a simple 980x530 screenshot of some text in MS
Notepad, and this created a 1.5 Mb file, compared with 114 Kb for
JPG and 28Kb for a GIF. ('Nuff said?)
    GIF
For screen shot images, diagrams or line drawings, use GIF
format. This works best where there are areas of solid colour and
sudden changes of colour where you have lines, boxes and text
    superimposed upon it.
The GIF format is limited to 256 colours, so you will need to
reduce the number of colours in your favourite graphics package.
Reduce colours using the 'Nearest Colour' method; do not use 'Error
Diffusion', which makes a larger file size. The result is a clear
image and compact file size. Where possible, reduce the number of
colours as far as you can, consistent with retaining good
appearance. If you can reduce an image as far as 16 colour GIF,
this will give you the smallest file size.
DON'T use GIF for photographs because of the bands of colour
that show across the photo, which it tries to fit into a 256 colour
    palette.
    JPG
JPG is optimised for photographs, where there are gradual
    changes in shade and colour.
DON'T use JPG for screen shots because you end up with a
larger file size and a 'gritty' appearance, as JPG tries to resolve
the suddent transition between background white and solid black for
text, for example. (See file sizes of example above).
    PNG
NEVER use PNG format in RoboHelp because it makes RH unstable
and cause crashes. Trust me, I know: it has cost me many man-days
downtime over the years, caused by restarting from crashes and
    tracking this bug down.
TIP for smaller screen shot file sizes
    ======================================
In Windows XP, switch off the default "smooth edges of screen
    fonts" feature, as follows.
    1. Desktop > right-click > select Properties.
    2. Select the Appearance tab, and click on the Effects
    button.
    3. Clear the checkbox "Use the followng method to smooth
    edges of screen fonts".
Depending on the screen shot, you can save up to 40% of a
    finished GIF file size.
    Hope this is useful!
    Best wishes.
