Cant find my garage band project

I opened garage band and did a voice project there , but when i went to imovie and searched for it , i couldnt find it !

No, you can not Download it, it either comes with your Mac, or you need to buy iLife '06
Your G5 should have come with a Software Restore disc, or perhaps an iLife disc (mine did), you'll need to find the discs that came with the computer and reinstall it from there.

Just downloaded Yosemite on my Mac and the Yosemite update for Garage Band.  Now when I open an existing Garage Band project and click on a vocal track, a message window says, "Could not find General Audio 10" and have no smart controls for that track (reverb, etc.)  Help?

Re: I downloaded Garage Band 2x and the same note appears: there is no General Audio 10. Please advise. Thank you.
Try this: Go to your menu bar, select "Garageband" and then "Restore Sound Library..."
It can take awhile to download as it's a pretty big library. You might need to also select "Update Sound Library..." after the restore is done.

  • I've imported a Garage Band project but the instruments seem to be in a different key to the vocal. Any ideas why?

I did a project in Garage Band but want to finish and mix it in Logic Pro. The vocals are in the right key but the instruments (guitars and bass) are in another key. I did the project originally in C, then changed it to D in Garage Band and recorded the vocal track after that. Any ideas why the instruments seem to stil be in the original key and how to fix this?

Check/use the transpose section of the track/region inspector..... or Global transpostion... to set to correct/update the transposition value you want.

  • Open Garage Band Project in Snow Leopard From Lion

So here's my case..  I have a music student and in order to help him up I setup a project using Garage Band on my machine (OSX 10.7.2) for him to open at his house and his machine so we could keep exchanging the file and make changes, etc etc.
He can't open the project at his house. Using a MBPro with Snow Leopard on it.
I then discovered that he has iLife09 and I use iLife 11
    My questions would be:
Is he not geting it because GB Lion generated files would NOT open in GB Snow leopard? OR Because he is using iLife 09.
If he upgrades to iLife 11 he will be able to open the file?
So, I'm trying to figure out if the issue is related to iLife or to Mac OSX.
    Thanks in advance!

  • HT5537 How do you import/export garage band projects using the latest version of iTunes when there is no apps in the left column to select garageband?

I am perfectly aware of how to do this using the old version of itunes.
however i just got a new macbook pro retina... and it came with the latest version of itunes.
and i was trying to import/export garage band files between my ipad and mac via itunes.
and the option for apps, that is usually on the left side where you can then select garage band from in itunes, isnt there in the new version of itunes.
has anyone got a work around for this?
    thanks.
    nic

Nic, for me the iTunes window looks like this, when I connect my iPad 3:
I select the iPad in the "devices" section of the Sidebar (use: "View > Show Sidebar" if the sidebar is hidden).
Click the "Apps" tab in the "Devices" pane.
Scroll all the way down in the Devices pane to "File Sharing" "Apps" section.
Then do I click "GarageBand" to select the documents in the right panel.
Which part is different for you? Perhaps you could post a screenshot?

  • Cant find my Logic X project

I made a beat in logic, saved it to a folder called "audio files". then closed out of logic and it is no where to be found.
Anyone know how I can find it, I tried looking in finder and using the spotlight search with no luck, on OS X 10.10.2.
I searched for the file type and the file name. It doesn't show in the recent projects in logic and its also not in the trash.
I really liked this beat, so any help would be great. Thanks

Try using Findanyfile to locate it....
    http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/
If FAF cannot locate it, you either did not save out the project correctly or you didn't name it as you believed you did...

  • How to import a garage band project from iMac to iPad?

Want to import a project going on the desktop iMac to iPad...everything's up to date...just don't see how. I see how to go in the other direction but not iMac to iPad, please help, thanks!

iMac toiPad is not yet supported. Only projects that have originally been created on  an IOS device can be send to the iPad, see:
GarageBand for iOS and Mac: Project compatibility
Projects you create in GarageBand for Mac also cannot be opened in GarageBand for iOS.

  • Garage band results cheesy? Am I expecting too much?

For eg: more often than not I'll download a midi and it will sound great played through quicktime.
When I open it up in Garage band often the file will sound different, some instruments sound
different or the temp may be different. A lot of the time the end result sounds pretty cheesy.
The way I create a Garage band project is create a new project, drag the midi to the garage band
and start editing. Seem to be limited to very few instruments too. For eg there are only about 5
drum kits, 2 useable for what I need Pop and rock and both sound fairly ordinary.
I find the bass a little average too. Quite often it is way too low down in the scale and sounds
awful. I generally find the fingerstyle bass the only useable one.
Is there anywhere to get more instruments etc? or am I expecting too much from a non pro program.
Would I be better off with cakewalk or something like that?
    Any help appreciated

  • Need to rescue Garage Band Files with Data Rescue II - what kind of files?

    Hi all -
After a particularly gruesome computer crash, I am trying to reconstruct my lost files using Data Rescue II..... This program goes into the damaged hard drive and downloads all intact files it can find, but it is NOT able to label everything correctly. All it can do is divide things into folders - Audio files, document files, images, mail, misc., and movies. And within these folders are other folders - for instance, in the "Audio" rescued folder, there are hundreds of AIFF files, AIFF1 files, AIFF2, MP3, WAV, m4a, and m4p files.
My question is: can someone please tell me what the heck a Garage Band project file is? That would save me a lot of time in digging through all this material trying to find one....
(Don't get me wrong... I'm grateful to have stuff to dig through! I just hope my Garage Band files are intact and recoverable.)
Has anyone had success saving Garage Band files with Data Rescue II?
    Thanks in advance.

    Aaaagh!
I spoke too soon. Yes,I did indeed find the file that contained all the files I needed to retrieve (using Disk Rescue II). When my 6-hour download of the 78 GB folder finished, I check the files again, and they weren't located in the orphaned section, but in the Hard Drive section under the normal directory, in a folder called .Trashes - within that there was another folder called "501", which contained all the Garageband files I needed to retrieve. However, when I tried to open the downloaded "rescued" files, they were inside a folder called "Macintosh HD", which could not be opened, and I got a message that said "Could not be opened because you do not have sufficient access privileges." Not only that, but even after 6 hours of (apparently) downloading the 78 GB folder, my hard drive, which had close to 83 GB of free space, said STILL had almost that same amount.
So did it download anything or not? What was it doing all those 6 hours? I have a file that I can't open, but apparently it's going to be empty anyway.
Here's the full story, for anyone with the patience to listen and offer advice. It looks like now I'm looking for a way to 1) get the permissions to open the .trashes file so that I can download everything, or 2) figure out a way to get Disk Rescue II to open the files and download them regardless of the permissions.
    Full Story -
I am pretty sure that my computer crash was caused by working with the newest version of Garageband 08. Ever since buying it and loading it, my computer has been acting funny whenever I use the Garage Band program - I could only record about one in three attempts since the computer kept freezing as soon as I finished recording a line. I would have to use force restart to get going again.
The day the computer crashed, I was working on a Garage Band project, which kept crashing, and I was also using Finale, Microsoft Word, and iTunes -- all of which are my normal procedure and I'd never had any problems with anything before loading the new Garage Band 08. (See my posts on other discussion topics for more details). After the last freeze, the computer crashed totally and could not be restarted - it would get to the gray screen with the spinning gear and just sit there while the fans ramped up to overload.
I used Disk Warrior to rescue whatever files I could onto an external hard drive, and I started to download all the Garage Band files. However, the "estimated time to completion" said over 6 hours , so I stopped the download after a minute or so and went on to rescue all the other files that were smaller in size and easier to download - I figured I'd set Disk Warrior to download the whole 78 GB set of Garage Band files overnight while I slept. But....when I went back to begin the download again, I noticed that the directory of Garage Band files went only to the letter "C" instead of all the way to "Z" like my original files had done during that earlier attempt to download. I am assuming that somehow, the directory for the files I download before aborting the attempt (A-C) got exchanged with the directories of the original version (A-Z), but the original directory was no where to be found.
I decided to try an archive install in the hopes that I could just restart my computer and get the files out by hand. The archive install went fine, and the computer started up fine and got to the log-in screen, which had changed. I now had two blanks - one for user name and one for password, instead of the choices of names. I tried all my user names and passwords, and asked my wife for her names and passcodes, but nothing worked. The computer had apparently re-set all its permissions and User accounts. I tried using Disk Utility to reset the password in its opening screens, but instead of getting several User options, the only one it allowed me to attempt was "System Administrator (root)", and even that wouldn't let me in to change any passwords.
That's when I downloaded Data Rescue II, which does seem to do a good job of locating lost files. However, since I didn't have permissions to open the computer the last time, I am still apparently facing the same thing when I try to access files copies OFF the computer.
So I'm not out of the woods yet. I can see the files on the Data Rescue screen, but I don't know whether they have permissions tied to them or not, and if they do, whether the system would let me since I don't know what the passwords and user names have defaulted back to.
    Any advice? Please?

  • Update for garage band 3.0.4

I can;t find the appropriate update for this version of garage band. I have seen somewhere someone suggested to find a garage band 4 before going to 4.1.1, otherwise it'll be impossible to upgrade, but I never found a free download for version 4.0.0 (unfortunately, apple does not even provide free upgrade for people that own original software!!) Anyhow, I need to bring on the comp. my tracks I've done on my electric piano...what would be easier since this version of garage band won;t work via USB...only as a midi controller? simply, buy an interface or buy a new $79 Ilife'09? thanks for help

if your controller doesn't work with your computer, upgrading GB isn't going to help. get an interface:

  • Corrupted Search For Samples and Hidden Garage Band Samples

in logic if you go to garage band instruments, strings and select basses staccato, it searches for the wrong samples for the instrument. how do i clear what ever searches for exs and garage band samples in logc? also those physical samples used in those garage band instruments are named for example
KBstac_downbow_fA#1.wav if you search your hard drive it will not find those samples. where do they reside? are they hidden and why?
so its a 2 part question. how do i reset searching for samples. i ran onyx on spotlight but i don't think logic uses spotlight to search for samples.
    thanks

ok i found out that you have to modify search function to find those garage band samples. the problem i'm having still is there are some garage band instruments that are referencing wrong samples. how do i reset search function

  • I have os 10.7.5 how do i get garage band

Having issues finding a garage band download that will work with my os 10.7.5

You install it from an iLife 11 DVD, or upgrade the computer to Yosemite and get it from the Mac App Store, or use the computer's original disks(if any).

  • Editing tracks in garage band

I have been using Garage Band to create a sound track for a Keynote presentation. I imported a number of songs from iTunes into Garage Band and placed them in two tracks, using the volume controls on each track to transition from one song to another. In doing so, I ran into two issues.
    1) I got the timing of some of the musical pieces just right, but others were either too long or too short for the accompanying slides in Keynote. If one section was too long or too short, but other sections of the soundtrack were just right, there was no way to select the region representing all that was just right and move that either forward or backward on the timeline WITH the volume changes on the tracks. I could move the musical pieces, but then the volume changes that created the transition from one song segment to another were in the wrong place on the timeline.
    2) To deal with the first problem, I thought about making multiple copies of my Garage band project and then delete the segments before and after the segment that was correct. But if, for example, I want to use only the part of the project from 4:30 to 6:25 on the time line, there is no way to delete the first 4 and a half minutes and delete what comes after 6:30. I can remove everything before and after, but then I have a 4:30 segment with no sound before the segment I want.
It would seem that there should be an easy way to make this kind of edit in the program, but I couldn't figure out how. I'd appreciate any help.

    1. Indeed, when you move regions, the volume curves don't move with them - you have to do it by hand. It annoys a lot of people.
    2. Of yourse you can select all regions and pull them to the left so your song starts at 0:00. But again, the volume curves won't move with them.
To avoid this messing around, I'd suggest you first compose your music segments without volume curves, but with overlapping regions (you can shorten them so they only overlap where you later want to set the fade) and keep pushing them around until they fit your presentation. And do the crossfades only in the end when everything else is perfect.
