Cant install XP at all - plz help

I have just upgraded to an MSI K7N2-L Nforce2 8xAGP motherboard from a PC chips M810LR SiS730s.
However, i can not get windows XP to run/install at all.
Here's how it started. I finally got everything working (took a long time) and when it was working, when I turned it on it would say i can either start windows normally or run it in safe mode. Either option would restart my computer with a quick milisecond flash of the blue screen.
So, I formatted my hard disk (as my last chipset was different I wasnt surprised it wasn't working). However, with a blank partition it would not install XP. It would lock up at 'setup is now running windows.' which showed after it had loaded all the SCSI stuff etc. (This was booting it from the XP CD).
It did the same thing when there were no partitions, or any active partitions I made anything.
I then thought, how about installing Windows 98. Guess what, it worked fine. But I really dont want 98 when I have XP. So I tried putting the winXP CD in whilst in win98, and when it restarted to install it would lock up just like before. And it would also lock up when trying to do a new installation.
I have noticed many MANY people have had this same problem with XP on their K7N2s (searching on this board.)
If anyone knows a solution, or any feedback would be appreciated.

Get an XP disk and your problem will be solved. If you do not reinstall your OS, it will not work.

Set your RAM to 1:1 in the bios. Use Vid Card, HD, Optical Drive, Floppy, keyboard/mouse/monitor and see if you can install XP.

I need a little help!

Now with 7.0.2 out heres the status.
- iTunes says there is no update available and that 7.0 is the most up to date version (which is not).
- If I click restore instead of update in iTunes, it again gives me an error saying that there was an error downloading the software.
- If I force it by putting the device in recovery mode then It doesnt fail to download the software but it one more time tries to download version 6.1.3 and if I go ahead and try to install that, it says the iPhone is ineligible.
- If I try to update the iphone from within iOS it fails as well.
Help me please, don't know what else to try.

i hav hp d330, X86 based PC with O.S wp pro.sp2.
i installed bios update , networkind [lan card] drivers and they worked fine.
I also download n installed Soundmax drivers one by one from

but even after installed correctly [also showing "soundMAX integrated digital audio" in device manager] no voice heard by headphones[i dont hav speakers].
head ph is correct n working fine on tv. i hav checked all basic stuff "mute " etc. but still no vice.

First right-click on sound icon in systray(lower right in area where the clock is) then open mixer and check to see that the mute all box does not have a check mark in it, If it does select it to remove the check mark and adjust the volume. Try something that produces sound.
Second(if mute was not checked) Go to Conrol Panel --> Sound --> next to the audio icon there should (in parentheses) be the name of your onboard sound chipset device. in volume, mute should not be checked. Go to Audio tab (select at top) and in standard sound device your chipset audio device should be selected as the standard output devive and not greyed out. You should see the same in recording device. In Speech tab you should also see your chipset device selected for both.
Please post what you found and your results.

Umm, well, the Scorched Earth Method is drastic and cannot be undone. But,m yeah, it's easy.

Well, in anticipation of getting my 60GB iPod, I used programs such as ffmpegX and Handbrake to create about 5 feature length movies. All within the new iPod parameters, H.246, 320 x 240 max., 786kbps, etc. Apple's website says if it can play in iTunes, it can play on the iPod. Well, all these play in iTunes but when I try to put them on the iPod they say not a format that it recognizes. Currently, I am opening these movies in QT and using the "export to iPod" function. I assume this will work, but I don't understand why the other method isn't. Good luck.

Cant install Beta CS6 in Windows7, help please

I have dowloaded the window files 3 times. They appear as a bunch of zip files and any attempt to unzip them is unsucessful.
What am I doing wrong?

When you download the file, you should only have one zip file that is 1.7 GB.
Download Photoshop CS6 beta for Windows (ZIP, 1.7 GB)
I usually put the zip file on the desktop. Then right click on my zip file, I select extract all, and select a folder on the desktop. I then open the file and click on setup.exe to install.
How are you doing it?

I cant install iTunes!! PLEASSSE help!

evrytime i try to install itunes it goes abotu halfway and then says:Some installation files are corrupt. Please download a fresh copy and retry the installation.
i have deleted and reinstaleld itunes and its components a jillion times but it ownt work! hellllp. pleasee.

First, you need to TURN OFF your antivirus and spyware programs because they are most likely to be at fault, especially if you have Norton. They are infamous for putting their dirty paws in the install and screwing it all up, thinking its a malicious program trying to download.
Also, check with the Windows website to make sure you have the most recent Windows Installer on your PC. Never just delete and reinstall multiple times as it will cause a mess of files everywhere leading to more problems down the road.

I realize that the boot is failing at the init stage[1].
Observing this behavior, I realize that it's something to do with systemd. Emergency mode is a feature of Systemd.[2]
Systemd was trying to start some processes, but they failed to start because some timed out and some lacked their dependencies. I guess the "A start job is running for..." is an indication that the process is stalling during init and Systemd is trying to jump start it, or something like that.
And I am coming to realize that the error messages are saying something is wrong with /home, ethernet, and wireless.
This thread[3], as well as the one linked in it, has given me a clue. Systemd fails when fstab can't detect a partition it expects.
My research tells me it is common to drop into emergency mode after an issue with fstab.[2] After editing, I should "run systemctl daemon-reload to let systemd refresh its view of it."
Which of course leads me to the Arch fstab wiki entry, as well as the manual.
This is the output of cat /etc/fstab

And /home is still on /dev/sda4 in my /etc/fstab. So perhaps I'll remove /home from fstab and call it good.
Edited with nano and removed the second line. Then systemctl daemon-reload. Reboot.

Cant Install Windows 98SE. Please help!

Please can anyone tell me if they have successfully installed win 98SE on this motherboard. I have spent many hours with no success. Using the same CD player and installation disc installs fine on my old computer. However with the 865PE/G Neo2-P motherboard it doesnt it work. Bios recognises HD and CD. After partitioning and formatting the HD and booting up with the WIN98 start up disc setup command doesnt work. Error message Device driver not found MSCD001 No valid CD rom drives selected. Have tried using WIN98 full version and Win 98SE upgrade but no success. Any advice would be appreciated please.

I installed Windows 98 with no problems. Your hardware specs will be suitable to analyze your systems possible outfall.
