Hello neo42,
There are a few possiblities here.
First, try powering the iPhone off by holding down the sleep/power button until you see the "Slide to Power Off"
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
Make sure iTunes is up-to-date (8.0.2.20 currently) and the iPhone is up-to-date (2.2.1).
It may be a music or video file that cannot be played.
Try creating a new playlist in iTunes and drag a small selection of songs to the new playlist.
Sync only that new playlist to the iPhone and test.
If the iPod application opens, you can then sync increasing more content to the iPhone until you isolate the suspect music or video file.
If the iPod application won't open regardless of what you sync to the iPhone, you may need to backup and restore the iPhone:

Backing up your iPhone is explained here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Hope that helps,
Charles H.

Ok when i plug my ipod into the computer Itunes won't list it windows explorer says its a removable disk instead ok its name and everytime i try to open it windows explorer freezes. When i open ipod updater it wont respond after saying initializing.

If the iPOd operates fine unplugged from the PC, and you see it in windows when you do plug it, try ALL the steps in this artical first http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716
NOTE: When removing/uninstalling iTUnes, you will uninstall quicktime too, and when reinstalling iTUnes disable antivirus and security programs

  • Cant open ipod 4th gen camera!

I open the app and the shutter wont open. ive tried restarting and resetting. nothing works. help!

All I said was the that iPod backup that iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music. They should be in yuor iTunes library (and also in a computer backup).
Yuo apps should be in yuor iTunes library. Besides redownloaing them like I said in my first reply you can transfer them to your iTunes library by:

  • Cant open ipod bc forgot password so disabled then cant connect to itunes

i forgot my ipod password and now its disabled and says to connect to itunes and i did then it says cant connect to ipod bc its locked what do i do

You should not be prompted for your iPhone's passcode lock when connecting your iPhone to iTunes on the computer you normally sync your iPhone with. This should occur when connecting your iPhone to Tunes on a computer you've never syncing your iPhone with.
If you don't remember the passcode, try placing your iPhone into recovery mode. If this is successful, this will require restoring your iPhone with iTunes.

  • My music will not sync to my ipod it only says revert and I cant open up music i purchased on itunes. I started having this problem when I updated my ipod

My music will not sync to my ipod it only says revert and I cant open or play music i purchase on itunes. This problem occured when i updated my ipod.
    Thanks

I also have a 4G ipod touch and a similar problem. Since I updated to the ios5 software any new songs I add to my iTunes don't sync to my ipod main playlist. They show up in the 'recently added' playlist, but not in the main 'songs' section. I fixed the problem once by restoring to factory settings and rather than reinstalling from a backup, I created a new ipod name and synced everything onto my ipod as if it was new.
This worked until the next new song I added and then the same problem started all over again. If you do reinstall everything as new, you may want to take a screen shot of where all your apps are and make sure all your photos etc are saved, as everything will be from scratch. Hope this helps!

  • IPod Shuffle Help - Cant open files on ipod (blank screen)

I'm sure it's already been covered here, but I couldn't find anything that helped.
I have a iPod shuffle, and iTunes recognises it but wants to re-format it (not my biggest problem), and Windows only partially recognises it.
In My Computer it is listed as an iPod (E:), but when i open it, which it does, it displays a blank screen. It doesn't recognise any files in it AT ALL. But recognises how much free space i still have on my ipod. I can open my ipod files (Songs) on friends and school computers, just not mine.
It just seems that i'm missing a file of some sort, which is able to read the files on my ipod shuffle, but i just don't no what it could be.
I have tried every available solution, reinstalling iTunes/iPod, with no luck. I also just added service pack 2 for my windows xp pro and thought that would have solved my problem.
    Any suggestions?

Have you tried syncing it again? There might be some error during the last sync.. If nothing's wrong, on the left panel, there's your iPod, click on the arrow beside the icon and there's everything..

  • Cant open itunes when ipod connected

I cant open i tunes when my ipod is connected. as soon as i disconnect it itunes comes up. if i connect my ipod with itunes already running it stops working.
im really starting to loose my patience
    help!

Are you sure you actually synced them? I know you said it shows up when your iPod is connected, but I'm not sure if that means it's really there. When your iPod is connected, click on the TV Shows tab in the main window in iTunes. Check your syncing preferences there and make sure the shows are actually getting synced.

I've found an easier way, just go to settings>general>usage>music. Then swipe it and press delete, i think this deletes the database described above, then re-sync, this worked for me anyway. Good luck, you need it with Apple software.
I don't have a large library of music on my iPhone 4s since I've only had it since Oct 2012, but since the update to iTunes 11 in early December, my album artwork has been all messed up.  Everytime I would try to add new music, it would assign the wrong album artwork to anything new coming in.  And in addition to that, it would also mess up album artwork of music already on my phone.  Everything looked correct in iTunes, but on my phone, not so much.  After trying to unsynch, then synching again, my frustration level was at an all-time high. This problem seems to be everywhere online, but no concrete solution for everyone.
I finally came across your simple solution (at least for me because of my small inventory of music) of just deleting all the music through the settings, and then re-synching to add back my music.  Now all of the album artwork is correct again.  I'm almost afraid to add new music for fear the artwork will get mixed up all over again! I still think my issue is somehow connected to the iTunes 11 update because up until then I had no issues whatsoever. Anyway, thanks for an easy solution that worked for me.

    Pleas help.
    Thanks much,

Plug your iPod into your computer, it will begin to sync. Now check to see if the playlists have been added.
If not, go to the songs tab under your iPod when it is connected to iTunes, Unless you have checked "Sync all songs (or something to those words)" you should have an option on what you can put on your iPod. Make sure to check the playlists that you want on your iPod.

I cant open itunes on computer

I'm having the same problem.  Already followed the steps and removed the SC info.sibd file then repaired the Quicktime program.  Nothing has worked.  Should I remove the Itunes program?  I recently updated Iphone and synced iphone and ipod now cant open itunes at all.  No error message.  The icon thinks a moment then does not open.

  • Cant Open/Install since newest update

    Hello,
This is my first post here because i have never had issues with itunes/ipod before. here is my issue-
Ever since the most recent update, when i would click my icon for itunes on my desktop it would say.
"this action is only valid for products that are currently installed" even though i just watched the installation finish. so i just would then try to install itunes again, so i redownloaded the installation file from apple.com, the file openes fine, starts installing, but during the installation, pretty sure its in the part where it says it is removing the old version of itunes, it says "the feature u are trying to use is on a network resoruce that is unavailable, click OK, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package itunes.msi" ive searched for this file and i do not have it on my computer, this just started with the newest update, i cant open itunes at all now, so i ask for some help here, thank you!
