Printing From iBook To Printer on Vista Desktop, Cant see shared printers
Printing From iBook To Printer on Windows Vista Desktop, Can't see shared printer on a Vista machine from a Mac, although Windows notebooks find it immediately.
I have previously always had success sharing printers on Windows XP machines with my iBooks. . However upon installing Vista RC1 on my desktop I find I can no longer find the printer in the Mac's printer setup utility. When I dual boot back to XP everything works fine, but on the same machine when I boot into Vista I am unble to see the printers. The Mac printer setup utility finds the Vista machine on the network, but the printers are never visible. Is their some secret or channge in Vista that prevents Mac's running , in my case,Tiger 10.4.8 from seeing a shared printer on a computer running Vista
On the Vista machine, if I boot into XP The printer is shared and Windows notebooks can print to it, but neither of my iBooks can see the Printers when Vista is running.
ibook G4 1.33ghz 12, 1.42ghz 14 Mac OS X (10.4.8) 1gig ram,That might have been the situation for the beta's and first RC's, but I have a final build. Plus the fact that other Windoze notebooks see the printer on the Vista box just fine leads one to believe it is a mac/Vista specific issue.
If anyone actually has experience with a MAC and Vista , I would appreciate hearing from you.
thanks, -
10.6.8 cant see Shared 10.8 printer over network
Hi
I've shared a Kyocera Laser printer on my 10.8 Mac and Shared it (it's connected via USB)
The other 10.6.8 macs can't see the printer at all - but the 10.8 macs see it no problem.
Can anyone suggest what I can do? I've rebooted the 10.8 Mac.......10.7 never had this issue so something has changed in Mountain Lion.
Thanks for your advice.Don't worry it's come up now - it took 5 mins to pop up on the 10.6.8 macs...

Cant see my pc shared files, my shared pc
Hi-- When I connect my mac with a hardwire internet cable my shared pc folders show up under the Shared in a finder window. When I hook up my mac wirelessly through airport extreme, the Shared completely disappears and my shared pc folders are unavailable. I've been through the airport setup utility many times now and cant see what I need to change to get it to let my shared pc folders in.
My pc is on a hard wire connection and the setup utility runs on my mac.I have the same issue. I guess it's just a setting somewhere, but I can't figure where.
Just to tell you there are other people with the same problem.
If you have any information how to fix it, please post.
Thank you.

Hi Stephen, thanx...
Yes, we are talking about FCP X...this is the thing:
I worked on a project a few days ago and went to share - export movie.
Today, i opened the FCP again, to make some changes, and when i enter to the project, it shows me as one big clip.....i dont see it says compound clip....and i tried anyways pressing break appart clips...but nothing....could it be that i made it compound before exporting it..? if so how can i recover the un-compound version >?
I tried to import the saved .mov file, but it opens the same....as one long clip...
Pls help...thanx. -

Cant see my airplay icon, cant use my remote app on either of my devices
Hi
I have the gen 3 apple TV and somehow i can no longer airplay, from my mac book pro, ipad, ipad mini or iphone. It used to work on all of my devices and now I cant see the icon.
When I open my remote app it tells me that I have to turn on Home sharing on my itunes or apple tv. It is turned on, on all of my devices.
I have been trying to trouble shoot this issue (all of my devices have the latest updates) and I still cant use my remote or air play
Any suggestions on how to fix this?I was able to fix the issue by unpluging the apple tv, router, and modem all for about 2-3 minutes and then replugging them in

I cant see ipod nano on itunes,
I cant see Ipod Nano (6th gen) on itunes windows vista operating system.
Jimfirst of all, no one is going to respond to this becuase limewire is used basically in your situation illegally. But let's say you import a cd, left click on the songs you imported and hit get album artwork, if nothing comes up, the album sn't in the itunes database, get it online. And I suggest never to mention limewire and music files on the same post here, since limewire is a file sharing program. Use Itunes, it's easier. theo

USB drive connected to airport i cant see it??
Hello all, i have an airport extreme. network is all setup fine. I have a USB drive connected to the airport setup for timemachine backups. What i would do is turn it on every week for the day and all my mac would backup to it. Last night i turn it on for my backups and none of my macs seems to be able to find it. Well today right out of the blue the imac suddenly sees it and runs a backup. But i cant see it with the macbook pro. I double checked the setting on the airport and dont see anything out of place. I can however see the drive in finder but when i click on it system tells me it cant connect. Any suggestions?

Apple is now forcing me to purchase a time capsule as they do not support puggin in a USB drive.
it's not new. this information has been available for some time.
Now this worked perfectly
it did (and does) so for many users. it just means is that, if you run into problems (as you do now), there will be no support from Apple.
I now have to physically connect my usb drive to each of my computers to have them back up?
no. you'd connect the drive to one machine and let the other Macs back up to it via your network.
printer i suppose ?
yes. and HD's for sharing files across your network - just not for TM backups !

when I connect my apple tv to my access point upstair and connect my ipad to the same access point i cant see my apple tv when i open up the airplay menu on my ipad. but i can see the apple tv in the living room downstair which connect to the main router.
Below is some info i get about ports.
I tried to set DMZ on my main router to have full access to ported to access point upstair which is in the ip of 192.168.1.2 and the main router in the living room is the gateway router with the 192.168.1.1 ip.
I still cant see apple tv after i try the DMZ method.
any suggestion ?
These network ports are used by Apple TV for communications on your network.
TCP port 123 is used to communicate with a network time server.
TCP port 3689 is used to communicate with iTunes while using the iTunes Library Sharing feature.
UDP port 5353 is used by Apple TV for automatically finding computers with iTunes on your network using Bonjour.
TCP port 80 is used for communicating with podcast servers.
TCP port 80 and 443 are used for basic and secure communications with the iTunes Store via the Internet.
TCP port 53 is used for regular DNS.
These are well-known ports used by Apple products, like iTunes. If you can use all the features of iTunes, these ports are likely already open on your firewall or NAT router. Note: These ports may also used by other services such as YouTube and Flickr. When the Apple TV is paired with a remote, it means only that remote can control it, when it's not paired any remote can control it. You will need a remote for each of your devices.

question ios6 had a edit feature in messages i could hi lite and forward message pic etc in ios7 cant see edit to be able to do the same am i missing a new way to do this or has apple forgotten to include
That certainly doesn't sound right, but it's such a fundamental part of file sharing that it needs further investigation.
First thing to check is whether guest logins are available, and whether you're actually logging in as a guest rather than a registered user when the incorrect password is used.
The server's logs (or Server Admin) should be able to confirm this.
While I might expect an incorrect password to reject the login, if you have guest access you're essentially saying you don't care about authentication anyway, so it might be the issue.
The second thing to check is whether the same happens on other forms of login to the server, e.g. ssh, SMB, etc.
That will help identify whether the problem relates to AFP or something more global on the server (e.g. there may be a local account for userA and userB that's being used rather than the Open Directory account you expect. -
Cant see the native groups on the forms and reports
We are migrating 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.1. We recently found the issue after the migration. Even after migrating the users, groups and provisioning using LCM; we cant see the groups in the forms and reports.
We did the migration for test environment, but didnt encounter this issue.
For eg, when I click on 'assign access' for a planning form I dont see the group assigned to that form. I can see that group in the shared services with all the provisioning. I can find the group and assign it manually for that form. But it doesn't shows up after the migration.
I opened the SR with oracle who suggested to bring over the schema and upgrade/register the applications again, as there might not be any groups present when I register the application before.
We brought over the schema, migrate and register the applications, but the problem still persists.
Has any one encountered issue like this, I would, I would really appreciate any suggestions.
thanksThanks for your reply John. I ran the UpdateUsers.cmd utility, but it didnt do anything. I brought over the schema again, updated and registered the application. Everything looks good so far, I can see the groups on dimension access and on the webforms.
When I run create or refresh security it deletes all the records in HSP_ACCESS_CONTROL. The view link disappears from the planning dimensions and i cant see the groups assigned on the webforms as well.
Any idea would be highly appreciated.
thanks -
HT1331 cant see disks in the airport extreme setup
cant see disks in the airport extreme "partions" to set up, tried different disks, cables, restart, etc, bottom line the extreme does not see any attached external hard drives, any ideas?
Cheers
MichaelChecklist:
1) The drive must be formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Unless the documentation with your drive specifically states this fact, the drive is very likely pre-formatted for Windows, which will not work on the AirPort Extreme. Use Disk Utility on your Mac to reformat the drive.
2) Even if the drive is formatted correctly, the USB port on the Extreme is underpowered....so it is often necessary to use a powered USB hub with the Extreme.....even if your hard drive has its own power supply.
3) The hard drive will not "show up" on the desktop the way that drive that is connected directly to the Mac will do. You must click on the AirPort Extreme icon under the SHARED heading in the Finder, then double click the folder representing the drive to mount it on the desktop. -
Mac Mini & Roku: Cant see WIFI
Enabled itunes sharing and sharing in firewall settings per Roku directions. Now my Mac Mini cannot see the Linksys-B wifi or for that matter, none of the other 14 wirless networks around me.
Did I flip the wrong switch? Pointers to correct-- how do I get it back onlineApologies for being vague. Here's all of the details I have:
1- Internet was running fine on a closed wifi network with WEP password
2- Got the roku and it couldnt see my closed network.
3- SHut down my linksys and comcast cable modem for 5 mins
4- restart it and now roku can see closed network but not itunes
5- Go to mac mini to enable sharing and probably clicked one too many screens. I clicked sharing in itunes but then went to network and on firewall (which wasnt on originally) I enabled sharing for itunes
6- then under sharing/services/xgrid I selected xgrid and went into Internet toos and selected a couple others and got strange message about if you share internet you may violate terms of ISP and be blocked or somesuch (i was almost through a bottle of cab by then)
7- Realizing my over zealousness I went back to restore it all back BUT
8- Now I cant see ANY wireless networks (used to see 9) while my other PCs see all
9- On network screen it says internet sharing is on even though on sharing screen it says it isnt
Regardless the mini doesnt see any wireless networks at all while other devices in home are running fine. This mini had worked flawlessly for almost 6 mos till now
ANY IDEAS? I promise to give back to forum
