Cant select the paper ICC profile in the applications page saet-up or print

Cant select the paper ICC profile in the applications page set-up or printer box.
I loaded a new paper profile into what I thought was the proper places(s) and it showed up in some applications but not in another. Does this mean the application is at fault? Can anyone tell me where the profiles are supposed to be installed?
Thank you in advance.

This is from "Ask Chris' forum:
Also, I suspect you are confusing paper types with color profiles. The paper types you see in the driver will not change: http://www.inkjetart.com/news/archive/IJN_01-26-06.html#3

just bough OSX Mountain Lion, my laptop operating with v10.6.8.  Can't install OSX Mountain Lion, on the disk selection screen i cant select the Macintosh HD to install OSX giving a message (This disk cannot be used to start up your computer).only have one disk to select and my partition map scheme is GUID partition table. 24.44gb disk available.

Verify your computer can run Mountain Lion:
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
Open Disk Utility and verify the drive is partitioned using GUID and formatted Mac OS Extended, Journaled. If it is then do this:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    Now try installing Mountain Lion.

Hello, did you mean create an Apple ID without any credit card info?
If that I can help. Just go to iTunes and choose a "Free" apps to download. After that, it will pop up with "sign in with existing Apple ID" or "Create a New Apple ID". Click create a new apple id. through this process, you will see a "none" choice in payment method while registering the Apple ID.

  • HP Photo Paper ICC Profiles

Where can I download the HP Premium Plus Photo Paper, Advanced Photo Paper and Everyday Photo Paper ICC Profiles?

I have never been able to find them on HP's website; this is one of the reasons I always set the printer to manage colors. By the way, it seems that I can't set my C7280 not to manage color. Since I get good results, I have not bothered to search further. I also use Ilford papers.

  • Paper icc profiles

    Can any one help please?
I have downloaded a paper icc profile, I can see it in my downloads file in the dock. I am stuck on how I put it in to colorsync utility profile.

In the print settings under media type I get the following choice.
    Plain Paper
    Premium Glossy Photo Paper
    Premium Luster Photo Paper
    Premium Semigloss Photo Paper
    Proofing Paper semimatte
Qu (1) If say I were to use a matt finish paper, what from the above list should I use?
I assume you are not using an Epson paper.
Option 1) Look in the documentation that came with the paper. It should give you the settings to use for most major printer companies.
Option 2) Assuming that you know that the paper is a matte finish, look at the documentation of your printer and figure out which of their papers is matte - then use the settings for that one.
So I am thinking that it would be good would it not to simply ignore that field and instead chose the icc profile back at the colorsync profile window.
Bad idea. Assuming that you now have your profiles working, you use them for soft proofing (Onscreen Proofing in Aperture speak) and for setting the colors of your printed output. You still have to tell the printer what kind of paper you are using - plain, photo, glossy, matte, etc. If you don't, you may get the colors right, but you risk to have too much/little ink and the wrong drying time, etc. In other words, a rather pricey mess.
For example, I use Costco paper a lot. The box tells me that for most Canon printers, I should use the settings for "Photo Paper Pro." I used the same ICC profile until I discovered that there is actually a better one, the GL profile. But that is trial and terror.
I also use Red River papers. Again, the box tells me the printer settings and I use the Red River ICC profile and get very good results. (N.B. Using soft proofing can help a lot, especially with "green" recycled papers which are not very white.)
    Hope this is helpful.

  • I have 10.6.8 and have installed two new printers HP 8610 and an Epson 7880 and can not find the Page Set-up menu anywhere in the applications I a trying to print from. There are no page sizes, paper types, appearsto be locked on a 13x19 size but It.

    Hi to the Mac Folks,
I have 10.6.8 and have installed two new printers HP 8610 and an Epson 7880 and can not find the Page Set-up menu anywhere in the applications I a trying to print from. This is regardless of either printer selected.
I primarily print photos from Photoshop CS5.  The term Page Set-up has gone missing in the file pull down menu. Can't make any choices  There are no page sizes, paper types, appearsto be locked on a 13x19 size paper format. Either being too large or too small.
Saw a 2008 locked issue about this however none of the help fit my situation, options discussed are not available to me.
Preview has no "Page Setup" - or does it?
Does the constant struggle with computer compatability weirdness issues ever end or is it a enslavement scheme?

    Hey,
if you know the name(s) of the root folder(s) you want to access (eg. by making a note on the Windows side) then you can make them appear by just doing Shift-Command-G in Finder ("Go to Folder…"), and entering the full path to the required folders.  You can then navigate all the contents as normal.

My problem when start (game)  i see  this error  YOU CANT OPEN THE APPLICATION --------- BECAUSE POWERPC APPLICATIONS ARE NO LONGER SUPPORTED.
mac book pro 2.2gh i7  Mountain Lion
    Please help me

Power PC applications - which your game evidently is -  are not supported by Mountain Lion (or Lion, for that matter).  You either need to make a partition/disk which runs Snow Leopard and run your game from there. Or you need to update your game to be compatible with the current Mac OS.

An .exe application is compiled for Windows. It will not run on a different OS. If you need to run this program, then you will have to install Windows on your Mac. Either as a separate bootable partition, or running in a virtual machine, such as Parallels or VMWare.

I note this information from Wikipedia: "DVD Studio Pro was a high-end software tool published by Apple Inc. to allow users to create DVD masters to be sent out for replication at production houses. Its tight integration with other Apple applications allows users to take Final Cut Pro and Motion projects and render them into the DVD format without encoding to intermediary formats. This streamlines the production workflow and reduces overhead."
If that is your intent, finding a substitute program that will run on your Mac may not be as efficient.  Others can advise you on alternatives, or you can post a new thread specifically with that question.
BTW: what Mac and what version of OS X?
If it is important to you to continue to use DVD Studio Pro, consider the option of installing Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels on your Mac:

When I try and open a word document I received the following message:  "You cant open the application Microsoft Word because PoerPC applications are no longer supported".  What is up with that?

Here is a post that I assembled for a similar question:
Unfortunately you got caught up in the minor miracle of Rosetta.  Originally licensed by Apple when it migrated from the PowerPC CPU platform that it had used from the mid-1990's until the Intel CPU platform in 2006, Rosetta allowed Mac users to continue to use their library of PPC software transparently in emulation.
However, Apple's license to continue to use this technology expired with new releases of OS X commencing with Lion (and now Mountain Lion).  While educational efforts have been made over the last 6 years, the fact is that Rosetta was SO successful that many users were caught unaware UNTIL they upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion.
    Workarounds:
    1. If your Mac will support it, restore OS X Snow Leopard;
    2.  If your Mac will support it, partition your hard drive or add an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard into it and use the "dual-boot" method to choose between your PowerPC software or Lion/Mt. Lion;
    3.  Upgrade your software to Intel compatible versions, or find alternative software that will open your data files;
    3.  Install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels:

Full Snow Leopard installation instructions here:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1365439
NOTE: STEP ONE of the instructions must currently be completed on a Snow Leopard or Lion Mac and the resulting modified Snow Leopard.cdr install file can then be moved over to your Mountain Lion Mac for completion of the remaining steps.
NOTE 2:  Computer games with complex, 3D or fast motion graphics make not work well or at all in virtualization.

    Hi kevred51,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If the Settings app on your iPhone is not behaving correctly, first force close the application using this method:
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app's preview up to close it.
These steps come from this article:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
If you are still not able to access Settings, restart your iPhone next:
