Done with worst buy warranty is worthless

My wife urgently needs the POS phone she bought from worst buy in August 2013. She is stage four cancer and HAS TO HAVE A PHONE.
Galaxy three will not charge, we have tried different chargers and we swapped her battery into another phone and it will charge there.
The problem is the phone!!!
Worst buy solution? Send me a shipping box that I wait DAYS FOR! Ship the phone back, waiting more days, then wait for you to send a replacement???????
OR I CAN LET YOU CHARGE MY CARDv250.00 and wait for you to return it?????
My daughter and son in law just bought two more phone..... what lousy service.
I should have remembered the micro wave incident we had a few years back with this crappy outfit

Hi Testcase448,
I honestly am sorry your wife’s Geek Squad Protection (GSP) is not meeting your expectations. The first option is for us to ship a box to your wife, she ships her phone to us, and we then ship a replacement to her. The second option is for us to ship a replacement phone to your wife, she then ships the defective phone back to us, and once we receive the defective phone we release the $250 hold fee authorization for her bank account.
These really are the only two options we would be able to provide. I would love to look into this further if you send me a private message with the GSP# for this phone. To send me a private message click on the link in my signature.
Thanks for posting,

  • Done With Best Buy, Thanks to TRE

Bought a $40 memory card for my wife's camera a few days ago.  Found a better deal online (surprise surprise) and returning the memory card--unopened--the next day.  The rude, obnoxious clerk (typical of what you find at BB stores these days) bluntly informed me---in front of 10 other people standing in line---that this would be the last return I would be allowed to do for 90 days because I return too many items to the store.  Wow.  First, I rarely return anything to BB stores unless it's a defective product---like the iPhone windshield mount that I had to return 3 times before finally getting one that didn't stop working a week later.  I've certainly never bought a TV on Super Bowl weekend, just to return it on Monday.  I'm certainly no fraud/scam artist either.
If you are going to insist on treating your customers this way, fine.  I can tell you how I feel about that by speaking with my wallet.  It cost you a sale that night, since I had items in my hand to purchase before being embarrassed in front of a dozen people by a clerk and some obscure rule/software program that is obviously flawed.  You guys must not be paying attention to trends as they relate to electronics sales....there's a reason you're the only dinosaur left...and with policies like this, your time is going to run very short indeed.
You can bet I'm going to Twitter/Facebook on this as well...

    Good afternoon FortWorthGuy,
Welcome to the forum! While I wish you had better cause in posting, I greatly appreciate you sharing your experience with The Retail Equation with us. It’s regrettable to hear that you may have found the memory card for your wife’s camera elsewhere for a better deal; enough so that you felt it warranted returning it.
The Retail Equation (TRE) is a separate company from Best Buy that we, as well as many other retailers, use to monitor returns and exchanges on an individual level. The information collected to monitor these returns and exchanges is electronically secured in accordance with state and federal laws regarding customer privacy. For more information about The Retail Equation for Consumers, you should feel welcome to visit their website here.
I apologize if you have found this policy to be a deterrent to shopping with us, and hope that you will provide us a chance to win you back in the future. It is certainly not meant to cause this reaction, and I am truly glad that you've chosen to provide us with your feedback. If you should have any questions, please let me know!

  • My one year warranty expired recently, a month ago my charger was replaced under warranty and it has only lasted a month and has broken again, does the replacement charger come with a new warranty or will i have to buy a new one?

Bought the phone on contract last January (late in january), had my charger replaced just after christmas and now it has stopped working again, its been about a month and a half and the replacement charger is broken, does the replacement charger come with a new warranty or will I have to buy a new charger? And if so, is there a charger that doesn't break easily (my problem is the the wire at the phone end of the cable seems to bunch and twist etc.)
    thanks.

a warranty replacement if the donor is out of warranty has a new 90 days warranty from exchange date

I dropped my iPhone 4s and the back cracked and it now will not turn on. I was wondering if anyone could give me an estimated price to fix it. And I do have insurance on it with best buy. I'm on Verizon's phone plan so I don't know if it would be cheaper to have it fixed with Best Buy or Verizon. I cracked my iPod a little bit ago and got a refurbished one for free with the insurance on it but I don't now if it would be different because it is a phone. I don't know really anything about this stuff so any information that could possibly help me is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That's only for the iPhone 5. On the 4 and 4S, they can repair the back glass in store for $30. They will not replace the display on a 4 or 4S. They must replace the entire phone. Replacing the display on them requires disassembling the entire phone, which they will not do in store.

  • Best Buy Warranty???

I purchased a Microsoft Surface Pro March 9 2012. (Today is March 9 2014). The total cost was approx 900.00. I also purchased a 1 year warranty protection plan from Best Buy. At some point during the last year the Surface Pro would no longer accept a battery charge. In other words, the Surface Pro could not be charged and thus could not be operated unless it is plugged into an electrical power source. I took the Surface Pro to Best Buy on March 6th 2014 for warranty work. The following is an account of my experience with Best Buy.
    March 6, 2014
"Hello, what can I do for you?" After a lengthy conversation I was informed that the Surface was under warranty. However, Best Buy would not repair it. But they would replace it.
"So if you wish, why don't you take the Surface Pro home with you and remove all of your personal data. Then bring it back to us and we will replace it. We have one Surface Pro in the store which is available."
    March 9, 2014 Approximately 1M
I return to the store with the Surface Pro with the intent of exchanging it for the one in the store.
"Hello what can I do for you"?
"Well here is the Surface Pro. I have removed all of my personal data and would like to exchange it".
"Ah, yes, Now I remember your case. What is the problem with the Surface Pro?".
"Recall, you tested it and found it would not take a charge. You said to take it home and remove all of my personal data. You said that you had opened a "process" or "case" and recorded all of the details concerning the Surface Pro. You said that it would be a simple matter of an exchange".
"Oh yes, Now I remember. What is your name again?"
"Good, let me look it up." "Ah, yes. Here it is. Hmmm, the problem is we don't have one in the store and there are none in the warehouse. Someone has placed a hold on it."
"I see, can you check and see if other nearby Best Buy stores have a Surface Pro in stock"
"Yes, there is one in stock at our San Francisco store, and one in our San Rafael store."
"Good, can you ask them to send one to your store so I can exchange it?
    "No, we don't do that".
"But let’s see, I think I can offer you a store credit for 599.00 and you can spend that on another tablet."
"Oh, Oh, I just checked your warranty again and it looks like you warranty has expired."
"But the warranty is for one year and it was purchase exactly one year ago today. And besides, you said you opened a process for my case and recorded all the details on the Surface Pro 3 days ago."
" I know, but the process I started 3 days ago hasn't been closed so it expired today"
"How can that be. 365 days will not have passed until midnight tonight. Therefore the warranty is valid"
"No, we don't actually go by days. We go by the hour!"
"I see, but you can see from my receipt that I purchased the Pro March 9 at 3M. And its only 1M at the moment. so even with an hourly deadline, the warranty is still valid"
"No it is not. The warranty hour is eastern time which at this moment is 4 PM. So the warranty has expired."
" Let me summarize the service you can or cannot provide.
    1. You will not exchange my Pro for the one you have in the store because someone has a hold on it although I thought I had a hold on it 3 days ago.
    2. You have 2 other Best Buy Stores nearby, that each have a Surface Pro in stock, but you will not have them delivered it to your store here.
    3. My warranty is expired because it is based on Eastern Time, although I am here 2 hours before the warranty expires by local time.
    4. And although I paid approximately 900.00 for the Pro 1 year ago, you could only offer me 599 of store credit if my warranty was valid"
And so, my visit to Best Buy ended. I picked up my broken Surface Pro and left feeling like I had just been given the royal shaft. So please beware if you are considering purchasing anything from Best Buy. Alternatively, I have had nothing but great service and satisfaction from Amazon -- highly recommended.

    Hello eisaaks,
Having an exciting new device develop problems is always at least a little bit aggravating as I know from my own experience. I certainly regret it if any action on our part added to your frustration.
Mbrguy was quite right about our not reckoning the warranty's expiry by the hour, but by the day. In the case of your Surface, the product was covered by Microsoft for a period of one year from the date of purchase. As you acquired the Surface on March 9, 2013, the factory warranty in fact elapsed on March 8, 2014 at 11:59:59 p.m., the 8th being the 365th day.
At this point, the only option that I can think of is to contact Microsoft directly for any potential options for your Surface. They should certainly be able to offer you repairs so that your Surface will function as intended. However, with the warranty expired, those repairs will likely be at your expense.
I'm grateful that you took the time to share your experience with us.
    Sincerely,

  • I'm so done with this phone.

Ok so my husband and I both got the htc droid in february of this year and have had numerous problems.  We had read some of the reviews before deciding to get the phone and decided it would be a good one to get.  Apparently the reviews were written sometime in the first month of having the phone.
    While the idea is great this phone is truly the first one I have ever yelled at in the middle of a store or honestly felt like throwing against a wall.  Great way to wean yourself off using the phone too much? Just upgrade to the htc droid!  I hate making phone calls because it takes 5-10 secs to load my call history, then I push the send button and what do you know I called the wrong person.  Try using my favorites list, hmm well if I wanted to call the person two people above their pic then thats who I would have pushed.  Tried sending pics to my email it took 5 attempts and 24 hours for me to get them.  I get force closed all the time, then it doesn't close anything,{word filter avoidance}
?  I hate text messaging, i type fast and never had a problem with my LG Dare ( the last phone I had) but the droid seems to have a brain fart everytime I write a text message.
Forget the market, are you kidding me? What a disaster, I don't have two hours to spend on the phone to look for an app that won't affect the already crappy apps I already have on my phone.  My husband gave up sending pic messages, not too mention that everything scrolls the the left and then won't scroll back.  Every time our phones are plugged in to charge they freak, literally!  They jump from app to app, things get highlighted green and scrolls up and down all the time.  Set it on the table and walk slowly away! The phone gets hot, the battery runs out, and because we have to charge it so often the car charger is fried!  I am constantly in a fight with my phone to get my home screen to come up, the update may have fixed some of the other issues but it also added so many more.
I have waited and waited, to avoid the scene I now know is going to come up, to go into Verizon to complain and see what they can do. We went in once because of the issues we were having, their solution add Advance Task Killer, super!  That got old really fast, I shouldn't have to babysit my phone and make sure everything is turned off when I'm done, hello isn't this a smart phone?   Then my attempt at tech support, his solution -remove some of the apps since they may be affecting the other ones, oh yeah and by the way, you should pull the battery out at least once a day to reboot the phone!   What?!  You have got to be kidding me!
I am not a tech savvy person, I know my way around most phones and get along just fine with most things, but I can't tell you what version of some unknown upgrade could possibly be on my phone or what has caused what.  I don't want to have constantly be downloading something to fix an issue that shouldn't be an issue.  Isn't that why companies have beta testers? To test their products before they are released to make sure that there are as few issues as possible?  The race to have the best, smartest, coolest phone on the market, even when two days later it will be outdated, shouldn't be affecting the products that we pay good money for!
There are other issues, but I can be done for now.

Good luck! A refurb will probably fix most of those problems...unless that one suffers from it too. Some users are reporting being on their 3rd+ Eris. I'm "only" on my 2nd.
Two problems in your list won't be helped by a new Eris. You mentioned trouble with picture messages. One problem that the maintenance update in July (called MR4) introduced is that picture messages are now being interpreted as 5-second slideshows. You will not be able to get rid of that problem with a refurb, as the update (which Verizon has made mandatory) causes it. This issue will also affect who can receive pictures from you: I have a friend with an LG EnV2 who is unable to receive pictures from me after the update, though others still receive them fine--HTC says that only those phones which are, "too old" (yes, their words) will not be able to get pictures from the Eris.
Unfortunately, HTC refuses to support this problem, and one representative, Danty, confirmed that they have absolutely no intention of releasing any new updates to fix it. Verizon says they can't do anything if HTC says there's nothing to be done, so I'm not sure if we'll ever see this one fixed. ):
Second, the "brain fart" while texting will be present in any replacement you get as well. The Eris' touch keyboard is VERY slow; it just can't keep up. I'd guess it's a hardware problem, or the way the software interacts with the hardware: when I had to have mine replaced, it was because the vibrate mechanism died. That was annoying, but it did have a positive consequence: the phone suddenly became very fast; typing could keep up with me, switching to landscape view was snappy, and apps opened faster as well. There are no officially-sanctioned methods of fixing this. (The only method other users are reporting success with voids your warranty and requires being very tech savvy--personally, I haven't been willing to go that route, but others swear by it.)
Overall, it's a shoddy product, and HTC refuses to honor their obligation to support it. Personally, I'll never buy another HTC phone again, and I tell others to avoid HTC as well. Unfortunately, it sounds like you also learned this lesson the hard way. ):

  • I have iphone 4s with 1 month warranty left can i extend my warranty

i have iphone 4s with 1 month warranty left can i extend warraty ?

    Mandeep,
Looking online right now it seems the policy has changed. Before there used to be AppleCare and AppleCare+. I don't know if the original AppleCare I was talking about still exists or not.
    The policy is described here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/products/iphone.html
    There it says:
AppleCare+ must be purchased within 30 days of the date you bought your new iPhone. If you did not purchase AppleCare+ with your iPhone, you may purchase it at an Apple Retail Store. To buy AppleCare+ at an Apple Retail Store, a Genius will first need to verify your iPhone purchase date and confirm that your iPhone has no pre-existing damage.

  • I am done with Verizon for their inability to update Android in a timely manner. When my contract is up, after 10 years, I am gone.

    Verizon,
Nobody.. and I mean NOBODY is buying your crap. You don't update to the latest software in a timely manner. The entire planet has the KitKat update for Android and you don't under the guise of better experience. That is crap, everyone else can do it but you, you are inept.
Additionally, you are the most expensive by far and the guise of biggest network. I really don't care about the biggest network, I use a very small percentage of it so this is no excuse.  AND if you are the biggest how come EVERY carrier can beat you on price and get updates out faster?
Your new tiered plans "Family Share" crap.
I do how you still charge me for data, voice, and text.. even though at the end of the day these are all just data packets across your network. I love being charged three times for the same service though.
You want to really be the best, then change your ways.. but I am done waiting around for you.. this contract ends and I am gone.

After 20 yes TWENTY YEARS being with Verizon I to am done with their cell phone business. I have had nothing but problems with my "new" Droid, which I was "steered" to by a tech who told me what I should have not what I chose, my weakness was to still trust the employee had the best interest of their customer at heart. Brewhahaha! Boy what a error that was on MY part. I got a phone that has been defective from the moment I turned it ON.
I first had home service with Verizon for many years...then wifi....then the bundle. Great, all I can say is as this company has grown, they have fallen apart on their customer service and their policies. Their nothing more than yet another CORPORATE mentality company whose bottom line is PROFIT.
My droid arrived, it would not hold a charge...it would not always take a preference I chose...it would change things on preferences on it's own (wondering if my phone is like that car in the movie "CHRISTINE")  and was encouraged to keep using it, I just either didn't understand the "smart phone" ...or my age was allowing them to think I could no longer learn to use anything other than a rotary phone.  One tech actually told me to take the battery out and reset the phone, hmmm...sure right and ruin the phone? RIGHT...who trains these people???
Verizon is no longer any resemblance of the once good company it just to be.
Today my day was horrible. (your just lucky I told blab on about the last three months dealing with them!)
Having just spent the majority of my day being transffered from one department to the next (seems they now have to transfer you if there is something as simple as adding an e mail to the order that was cancelled in error by the way to replace the lousy dysfunctional Droid I got) no one person can do what ever your account needs. Half way through my completely messed up day, I got so tired of this syrupy fake responses telling me to have a wonderful day and enjoy the rest of my day..and it was a pleasure to serve me.... after way to many transfers to other departments...they started sounding like they were recorded bots...or flight attendants. I just had to ask them if they served peanuts and cold drinks. HARD LIQUOR?
So now I am waiting for my "reburbished" droid. (again)..checked on why I had not gotten it...it was cancelled flagged by "fraud". WHATTT?  Fourth time I have ordered something and this has happened, and no e mail asking me to contact them. I live in a senior gated community and they are trying to tell me "someone in your gated community attempted to commit fraud" so MY order gets flagged. (half the seniors in this gated community are half dead the others are either in Palm Springs or traveling...and the one who are slightly mobile...might not remember how to even get to the mail room .and back to their house..granted UPS requires I SIGN for the phone...but impossible since they flagged and did not send the phone out. So, here I sit, wondering after three months of dealing with these (not so funny) clowns and gain absolutely NO satisfaction, except to say....adios...when my contract ends.  AT&T hopefully is better, but who knows..this phone situation may be the death of me yet..and in the end VERIZON will not longer have to waste their time or mine transferring me to try to get a 1. working phone  2.  my order actually processed correctly  3. have to re-educate their techs.
I no longer TRUST Verizon, I no longer believe they have the interest of their customers at heart. (what heart?)  and about the only thing I don't understand is they sell me a phone, then a package to buy time...but also $30.00 a month  fee to connect to their lines? Shouldn't that rather come with the package deal??
Signed..done with Verizon squeezing me two ways to Sunday.  I just hope some other company  comes in with a plan to beat the socks off these top providers of cell services in the states...and I'd like to just sit back and watch the huge exodus  of people leaving. The pickens are ripe to do just that.

  • Repeated Opp Contact with different Buying Role

My business need calls for an Opportunity to have the same Opportunity Contact with more than one Buying Role. For example, Opportunity ABC needs to have Joe Smith as the Architect and again as the Designer. With about a dozen Buying Role values and all combinations of role values possible, I don't want to define all the role combinations. As delivered, the application prevents a Contact from having more than one Buying Role on a given Opportunity.
I'm thinking about using a custom object with the Name field being an expression that concatenates Opportunity Name, Contact Name, and Buying Role. Is this possible? Reasonable?
Open to other ideas to meet the need.
    Regards,
    Jeff

Custom Objects tend to come up short. In this case, I originally wanted the Name to be the Contact's name. I've not found a way to make that happen and I can't expect the user to set it. On the related list display, I can choose to not display the Name and instead display the Contact name. Name is still required. I could fill it with a Function value such as Timestamp. For a related list you get the Add and New buttons. User's still don't get those straight. The display for Add is just too confusing for the user, so I tell them to always us New. Is there a way to remove Add?
SFDC has a data type known as Look-up which lets you construct links between objects without using an intermediate custom object. For example, you want to indicate the "Project Lead" contact on an Opportunity. That same person can also be listed as a Contact with a Buying Role, so the related list isn't sufficient. In CRMOD, a custom object is necessary. While this type of custom object is easy on the user, but an admin type of user needs to populate the CO. For the user to actually get to the, you need to click through the intermediate object. Plus, you still have the challenge of setting the Name field. The Name is the displayed hyper-link, so you need to have a logical value. Anybody have luck using a function to set the value? I'd like it to be the Contact's name.
    Regards,
    Jeff
