I have the same problem.  Yahoo Sportacular aborts every time I try to open it.  It attempts to load and then the device goes right back to the home screen.  The problem started April 26 after I switched leagues from NHL to NBA. Closing all apps and Restarting doesn't solve solve the problem.
All other apps on the iPad work fine.  IPad2, OS6.
Any other suggestions?  I suppose I could delete the app from the iPad and try re-installing it

    1)access the router web ui
2)go to the Mac Address Clone subtab , enable it and click "Clone" . Save the settings
    3)do a power cycle
4)check whether the router gets an internet ip add now ..

Because the device isn't capable of running iOS 6 and newer.

Can't seem to find an IPAD that let's me control my playlists together...or let's me organize my videos (Karaoke) the way I want to.  Can someone help or direct me?
    Can't even find the old IPad for sale...I have a MB292LL with 4.3.2 (8H7)

    Here is a hint, google:
    ipad video playlists
    Found:
    This discusses some options.
iOS 7 took away the ability to play videos continuously.
    Two stand-alone apps.

There was a hint of relabeling your videos to music video so you can use the itunes video playlists.
    I have not tried this.

  • Will the first gen ipad support display mirroring via airplay when IOS5 is released?

From what I have read, IOS5 will support display mirroring on the ipad 2.. Is this likely to be added to the first gen ipad ? If so then great, but if not, why not? Im sure if you can wirelessly stream music and movies to an Apple TV device (connected via wifi) from the ipad one, then surely you must be able to use display mirroring ?

In case you didn't click on the link above that is on the Apple site:
    AirPlay Mirroring for iPad 2
Wow your audience in the board room, classroom, or living room. AirPlay now supports video mirroring. Which means you can wirelessly — and securely — stream whatever’s on your iPad 2 to your HDTV via Apple TV. Everyone in the room sees exactly what’s on your iPad display up there on the big screen — even when you rotate iPad from portrait to landscape or zoom in and out on photos.2
So unless you were told be Steve Jobs that the iPad 1 will also do AirPlay Mirroring it really doesn't matter what you have been told, you are posting at best speculation but more likely misinformation.
And no, don't have anything better to do.

  • I have a first gen iPad, and it will randomly go home from the Internet when I don't press any button.  I have a wireless connection at home.

I have a first gen iPad, and it will randomly go home from the Internet when I don't press any button.  I have a wireless connection at home.  Is this a known bug?  What can I do?

You maybe running low on memory since you are using the original iPad with iOS 5.1.1 and the iPad is crashing. This may help and it certainly won't hurt.
Quit all apps completely and reboot the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Do this before you launch Safari again. Go to Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data. You don't have to clear the history.

  • First gen iPad having problems after iOS5 update

I have recently upgraded my first gen iPad to iOS5 (and subsequent update) and have had nothing but issues, sometimes to the point of making my iPad unusable with apps that take ten seconds to update (talking about even apple apps so it is not a third party issue), the system freezing up and not responding for well over ten seconds (example of this is while typing), and Safari crashing almost at least once an hour. I have rebooted the system numerous times and these issues have continued. I used to expect problems like this from Windows system, now it looks like I can expect the same from my Apple products as well.
Anyone else having issues like this?

Same problems here. Also browser issues, Safari (the worst), Atomic and Opera. Have tried every cache clearing and reset suggestion I can find. IOS 5 has been a royal pain. 5.01 didn't help anything here.

  • Have a first gen ipad. Can't download version 5.1 because iTunes 11.1 need to be downloaded. Cannot download version of iTunes. " errors occured while installing updates. if the problem persists choose tools download only and try installing manually"

Have a first gen iPad with 4.3 IOS. Can't download version 5.1 because iTunes 11.1 need to be downloaded. Cannot download version of iTunes. " errors occured while installing updates. if the problem persists choose tools>download only and try installing manually". This is as far as I can get. Can't find tools to manually download. When I try to reset to factory settings, I get an error also.

Try updating your iTunes using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file downloaded from the Apple website:

  • IOS 5 Bricks First-Gen iPad

Keyboard-based input on any website or app is useless as it causes the app to freeze and then crash. I thought my father was insane over his frustration; but having now researched the issue myself I see that it exists and is widespread. The iOS 5 update should never have been available to legacy iPad devices. Thanks for making my life a living ****, Apple. I know probably many people on this forum have invested tens of thousands of dollars individually on Apple devices over the years, this is by far the worst handling of any device I have ever owned.
Time to Jailbreak unless there's an update to resolve this issue coming down the pipeline?---otherwise I'm tempted to use the iPad as a frisbee or doormat.
    Model: MC820LL

My first gen iPad works ok, apart form being a bit slower that it was on iOS 4 and the occasional crash (maybe once a day) on Safari - I haven't had any crashes with other keyboard based apps such as Mail and Notes.
Have you tried closing all apps completely and then doing a reset to see if that helps ? To close all apps : from the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
To reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
For Safari you could also try clearing its history and cookies/data via Settings > Safari

I have a first gen iPad am I able to upgrade the iOS?

You might, though, be able to keep using many of your apps in an older version that is compatible with ios 5.1.1.
You might be able to use some older versions af apps. These links have information that can help you.

  • IPhone 4s videos to first gen iPad

I have an iPhone 4s which I took some video with this weekend.  I copied the videos over to my MacBook Pro and then attempted to copy them to my first gen iPad.  The event for the video shows up on the iPad but not the videos.  Videos that I took with my old 3GS transferred over just fine using the same process.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

    Hello dpc1701,
You'll likely need to create a version of the video for your iPad, as it does not support HD video.
iTunes: Videos may be unable to sync to iPhone, iPad, or iPod

  • HT201335 Is there a technical reason why the first gen iPad will not mirror?

I have a first gen iPad running 5.1.1
I had 5.1 and that did not work either.
A new 2012 apple tv and no go on the mirroring. My iPhone 4a mirrors. Why can't the first gen iPad

    See Lee wrote:
I think the newer iPads have a 5 or 5x chip set.  What are they using in the first gen?
I never thought of my iPad as slow
I couldn't tell you off the top of my head.
Yes iPad 1 still seems good for me too, but the 3rd gen is noticeably smoother in use.
Absolute specs are really irrelevant - Apple have not allowed the iPad 1 to mirror and that's that - pretty much like older Macs pre 2011 not being able to do so due to lack of a CPU feature.

  • Apps for first gen Ipad??

I have a first gen Ipad. Every time I try to install an app i get a message saying i must have ios 6 or higher. Seems like after paying 850 bucks i should be able to find apps after two years!!

You could still get some apps in the app store. Some of them will require ios 6 or 7 only, as you said, but not all. Many of them still support ios 5.1.1 so make sure you update your ipad 1st gen to that (for example Good reader and Evernote's penultimate). Other apps do require ios 6 for their current version, but the developers will still give you the option to download the last version that was compatible with the ios version you have (apps such as Amazon kindle, facebook, twitter, gmail and google chrome are examples of this). If they do you should get the "download an older version" button when it tells you about the ios 6 requirement. Try these tips. They added some useful life to my ipad 1.

  • Can't download weather channel app to first gen iPad

Question: What must I do to download the weather channel app to my first gen iPad with iOS 5.1.1. I keep receiving message "must update to iOS 6.0 or higher"

Try this similar procedure that a user did on an iPad 1 to get Netflix.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5753106?tstart=30
You should be able to install it. If the iBooks app isn’t in the purchase history of the iTunes account that is being used on it then try downloading the current version on your computer’s iTunes so that the app is in it. Then on your iPad go to the Purchased tab in the App Store app and see if you can download an older compatible version of it
