Cap 6 - how to capture quiz score/route based on score & prob with Master slide?

Hi --Using Cap 6 on a Windows PC. I have a module with weighted questions, and want to analyze the score when the user completes the questions. If they score 69% or below, they must view the entire module. If they score between 70% and79%, then they can just take the quiz questions again. If they score 80% of better, their score is recorded in the LMS and they are given credit for the module.
I have two challenges:
1) The course originally was going to be an acknolwedgment-only module, so I deleted buttons from the results slide (not the results master) but when I select Reset Mater Slide in the slide properties, the deleted buttons do not re-apply onto the slide. How do I get those buttons back?
2) I created an Advanced Action called start_over. It's simple - and the "Else" statement is "continue". I set this up in Quiz Pref. Does this also get assiend as an Action on the slide properties?
Result is that the quiz just stops. The quiz results slide displays - but without any content. If you select play again from the skin, the next slide is displayed.
I have searched forum, etc., but can't find a solution -- I need to re-create this scenario for several other modules too. Thanks in "Advance" for help!

About your second question, think you are using the wrong system variable. It is hard to read, but I think you use cpQuizInfoQuizPassPercent, which is the percentage required for passing. And you should have used cpInfoPercentage, which is the percentage acquired by the learner. Have a look at my blog post about system variables:
http://blog.lilybiri.com/system-variables-in-captivate-6
But I don't think you need such an action for Quiz Preferences? Because you have two possible actions there: Success action and Failure action? Why need an advanced acton for a simple Jump?
As for the score slide: Quiz Preferences, Settings: click the button Quiz Result Messages under Show score slide and you'll be able to mark the fields you want to show.
You can also create a custom score slide:

When I go back to section I, all information is displayed, but quiz score goes back to zero (0).
I have section I, which collects user information. Section II, 25 question quiz, and section III, which displays information and score.

  • How to export multiple copies reoprts based on parameters and with pre-defined naming

    Hi All:
I have a problem of using SSRS 2012, we have multiple clients and they wanted us to deliver the pre-defined excel reports to different branches based on selecting the "branch name" parameter, also they have a naming rule for the excel
    report file.
We cannot use the subscription as they need to do it in one batch and upload to an FTP file, therefore we are doing this manually for over 300 reports. Is this a convenient way to generate them in one batch as well as customising their file names?
Thanks a lot for your help.
    Cheers
    Johnny

    Hi JohnnyKahWang,
As per my understanding, there are multiple clients, you want to deliver reports to clients according to branch name parameter, and naming the excel file according to the rule. If that is the case, we can use data-driven subscription to achieve your goal.
Reporting Services provides data-driven subscriptions so that you can customize the distribution of a report based on dynamic subscriber data. Data-driven subscriptions use query results to determine the recipients of the subscription, delivery settings,
and report parameter values. At run time, the report server runs a query to get values used for subscription settings. We can use the Create Data-driven Subscription pages to define the query and assign query values to subscription settings. For detail information,
please refer to the following steps:
      1. Open Report Manager, and locate the report for which you want to create a data-driven subscription.
      2. Hover over the report, and click the drop-down arrow.
      3. In the drop-down menu, click Manage. This opens the General properties page for the report.
      4. Select the Subscriptions tab, and then click New Data-driven Subscription.
      5. Choose a method of delivery, then select data source for the subscription.
      6. Specify a query that retrieves subscriber data like below:
    CREATE TABLE Name (
    BranchName varchar(20),
    ExcelFileName varchar(20),
    Email_to varchar(50)
    INSERT INTO Name values
    ('Branch1', 'Name1', '[email protected]'),
    ('Branch2', 'Name2', '[email protected]'),
    ('Branch3','Name3', '[email protected]');
IF we chose Windows File Share delivery extension, we can define path in the query.
      7. Specify delivery extension options like below:
      8. Specify report parameters to BranchName.
      9. Specify when the subscription is processed, then click Finish to save the configuration.
For more information about Data-driven Subscription, please refer to the following documents:

  • Click event on Autosuggest Listbox. How to capture it ?

    Hello.
I'm trying without much success to understand how to capture
the click event on the listbox associated with the Spry Autosuggest
    Widget.
    At this address:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/autosuggest/SuggestSample.html
it is described how to use the widget. For an istance when
you type 'Ado' in the first textbox of the page, the listbox (or
what looks like a listbox) appears with all the possible Adobe
products beginning with 'Ado'. As the user clicks on a product,
let's say 'Adobe Acrobat Professional', its description is passed
    to the textbox.
Fact is, I would like to capture the event of the clicking on
the Listbox item. Is there a way to obtain that ?
I would really like to be able to call a JS function when an
    item is selected there...
I would appreciate any help to solve the problem.
    Regards,
    Newcomsas

Hi, adding an onClick event handler ist quite easy. my code
    looks like this:
    <div id="VKundenAS" spry:region="dsKunden">
    <div onclick="updateVKundenUUID('{f_uuid}');"
    spry:repeat="dsKunden"
    spry:suggest="{f_name}">{f_name}</div>
    </div>
Just add the event handler to the corresponding list element
    (here it is a DIV-tag).
Unfortunately this only works with mouse interaction
(onClick), if you navigate with the keyboard, no custom JS is
called. So you have to disable keyboard selection on the
autosuggest widget, in order to make sure the JS gets called.
    Best wishes,
    Nils

  • How to get the Success Factors LMS to record the quiz score for an Adobe Captivate 7 module.

I have a few questions and one outstanding issue.
    My Issue:
I can’t get the score to be recorded by the Success Factors LMS.
    Question 1)
I notice that the quiz reporting section in Captivate 7’s Preferences menu has a “Data To Report” section.
However, for SCORM 2004 and Tin Can, there is no option to report Quiz Score like there is for SCORM 1.2 and AICC.
Is reporting the score impossible for those reporting standards?
    Question 2)
My organization is using the Success Factors LMS and I’m trying to get the score to be recorded by the LMS.
I’ve set the Published Captivate module to report the Quiz Score as a percentage (Points is unavailable to me since there are more than 100 pts),
but the LMS is recording whether the module was Complete (passed) or incomplete (not passed or yet to be completed).
Is (are) there some parameter(s) on Captivate’s side that I need to be setting for Success Factors to correctly record the score?
    - Maybe Captivate (in SCORM 1.2) should be reporting the Score as points and not percentage?
    - Maybe I should be using AICC?
Is (are) there some parameter(s) on Success Factor’s side to interface correctly with Captivate?
I’ve checked the Adobe forums, but I don’t see any help there and
I’ve googled the issue to the point of exhaustion and frustration.
So, I would very much appreciate the help.
    Thank you for your time.
Provided below is a screenshot of my Quiz Reporting settings:

Last year I worked with a customer who has the SuccessFactors LMS and, after some issues and discussions, the SF folks suggested their LMS supports AICC better than SCORM.
    That stunned me a bit...
SO, sure, barring anything else, it may not hurt to try AICC!
And I think SF is also limited in their SCORM 2004 support. If going with SCORM, definitely try to get SCORM 1.2 working first.
Your settings look good to me. Maybe can't hurt to try 'points' but I'm not so sure that would work.
So you're ONLY seeing 'Completed/Incomplete' not 'passed/failed' as you'd prefer?
You're not seeing a recorded percentage at all?

  • How to capture the excise duty on free material purchasing?

Scenario is like this if we purchase a lot of material then vendor gives free on some qty. then we make a purchase order for free material with tax code zero. Vendor supply that free material with excise duty. Now we do GRN & take part1 entry. How to capture part II entry. This is capital item.

If you are following J1IEX route , then Tick MRP indicator & enter Excise duty values & take Part2.
It is assumed that all other master data like chapter heading etc are set.

  • Can you submit a User Variable instead of the Captivate Quiz Score variable to an LMS?

I am attempting to create two quizzes in a course that has branching.  I know that Captivate only allows for one quiz if you are using Question type slides, but I am using a simulation to check the knowledge of a process.  I want to report one of the simulation completions depending on which branch the user goes to (different branches for different products).  How or is it even possible to submit user variables in place of the Captivate Quiz Score variable, the time in the course variable, and the Pass or Fail status to an LMS?

Sadly, I am using Captivate 5.5.  I was thinking it should be possible to use Javascript to be able to take a specific variable and submit it to the LMS in place of Captivate's Quiz variables.  I just don't know Javascript well enough to know how to do that.

  • Quiz Score Slide - Review Questions

    Hi all,
I have put a number of discussions now and still can't seem to get this to work.
Once a user has completed the quiz and got to the quiz score slide to find out if they have passed or failed - for both I would like them to be able to 'review answers'. I know there is a review quiz but this just tells them what they got wrong or right and not why.
I have searched on Captivate and online to figure out how to make this work. I would like the user to be able to go through each slide and when there is a question they got wrong, there is an explanation for them.
Is this possible and how do I do it?
    Thanks

    Hi there,
You can have a slide as an explanation slide next to your quiz slides. You can use a conditional advanced action under On Enter property of the explanation slide. With the help of a variable called cpQuizInfoLastSlidePointScored, you will check whether the last answer was correct or not and have the explanation slide show/hide accordingly. For example, if each question in your project has 10 points associated. The variable will check whether the last question slide scored points were equal to 10, if yes then jump to next question slide and if no then go to the explanation slide.
Here is how it will look in the advanced action window:
Where Slide 4 is the next question slide and Slide 3 is the explanation slide.
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks!

  • Cp6 Quiz score reporting error in LMS

Looking for any inputs - this one's a bit strange:
I've been tasked with developing a course that allows the learner to test-out by jumping directly to the quiz. I've set up a series of advanced actions that allow one shot at the quiz without reviewing the course content, and actions that steer the learner back into the course after failing the quiz. All of these actions work, and the quiz score reports correctly each time within the course - the problem is what happens after that:
I leave the course and go to the learner profile on the LMS - instead of 100%, the score is reporting as 75% (4 question prototype). I've set preferences to complete the course and report the score - the course reports complete, the only error is the incorrectly reported score. When I leave the transcript page and go back to the course, the course opens to the last question in the quiz, rather than the last page visited - and the question is not completed. Is this a setting I'm missing on the Cp6 side, or do I need to interface with the IT guys running the LMS? I'm running Cp6 with the most current patches on a Meridian LMS.
    Justenuf

In answer to Rod's suggestion to set the score to percentage:
Done - the client prefers that report anyway. Still seeing the stuff as described below.
In answer to Erik's questions above:
after the quiz, you have a quiz results screen that shows all the information you'd expect, right?
Right - the quiz results screen in the course shows the score achieved
If they passed, how do they close the lesson?
The "Continue" button on the results screen is set up to take them to a completion page. that page has an "exit" button that takes them out of the lesson and back to the LMS.
Does the LMS report the same result as the summary page?
Yes if the quiz is set up to "submit all" answers at once in Quiz:Settings. (However, this is not my client's preferred set-up - so I'm still searching for the answers below)
No if you have the quiz submit each answer individually - see below:
The scores reported on the results screens for the quizzes in the red box above were 100, 90, 80 and 80, respectively.
If they fail the lesson, how are they redirected back to the content?
The "Continue" button on the quiz results page is set up to jump to the first page of content if the score is below passing.
Then they go through the content?
Yes - its required at that point.
how do they retake the quiz?
the "next" button on the last content slide takes them directly to the quiz.
If they retake it, does the summary slide show the correct information?
In the "submit all" mode - this all works perfectly.
If set up to submit after each answer, if you fail the quiz and exit the course before retaking it, the score is reported correctly in the transcript - it seems as if it defaults to the minimum passing score in when you submit each answer individually.
again, how do they then proceed to close the lesson?
They exit the lesson using the "Exit" button, which closes it and takes them back to the LMS.
I'd suggest adding a 'continue' button to that summary slide (if there's not one already) and instruct the user to click, take them to a 'congratulations' page and instructions to now close the lesson.
    Done - see above.
Do you have the lesson reporting 'after every slide' or 'send data at end'?  If none of the above options help, try changing it from one to the other (in the 'template' options).
I've set it using the submit all checkbox in Quiz:Settings - not sure how to access template options - is this a menu I'm unable to find?
Thanks again for your time on this -

  • Quiz score not reporting to the LMS

Initially the quizzes 'held' the previous answers so the user could not retake them.  (Infinite attempts is selected.)  I checked off Never Send Resume Data and now the quiz scores aren't reporting to the LMS.  Any other suggestions of setting changes I should have done or could now try?

So you want the user to be able to take the quiz as many times as they want?  I'm not exactly sure how you want it to act.
Do you have "allow backward movement selected in Quiz Settings?  That should allow the user to repeat quiz questions and I think you should NOT have a check in the Never Send Resume data.
I'm no expert, that is for sure, just figure things out as I go.  I would try those things and see how it works.

  • Reporting quiz score when spread across separate lessons? cp8

    Hi,
I have 7 lessons in my course. The LMS does NOT support a mastery roll-up score like the originally indicated they did. They cannot be combined in to one lesson. They are large.
So each has a portion of the quiz (no, they cannot be all placed in one lesson, they have to be separate). What I'd like to do is gather the scores of all 7 parts and tally them in to one final score to report to the LMS. As I see it, Captivate does not support this. I spotted CPGuru's Save & Load data widget. This looks like it will really help out. I think using this I can save each partial score and then in the final lesson tally them all up. The problem now becomes how do I report that score to the LMS as THE final quiz score result? I don't see a way to modify the quiz variables.
    Ideas? Another widget out there?
    Thanks!
      Lori
    CP8, Windows 8.1, publishing SWF.

That is really a strange LMS you are using: no gradebook or something similar at all? What you are asking for is typical a functionality of (most) LMS's.
Quizzing system variables are read-only, you cannot change them at all. Although you could transfer the results of the different quizzes to the 'master' project, how will you transfer them to the quizzing system variables. Only those define what will be put in the SCORM reporting. For a different goal, reporting custom questions, I have been looking for ways to get results into the quizzing system variables, but for a use case like yours I only see Javascripting as a solution or the use of the Mastery widget by Infosemantics (SWF-output only). Summarizing the resulting scores into a user variable is pretty simple, but not transferring it to the quizzing system variable. Only scores attached to question slides, or to interactive objects are included in those system variables. Have a look at my workaround for a much simpler use case for one custom question, maybe you'll understand the problem better:
Report Custom Questions - part 2 - Captivate blog
I have no blog post about the solution with JS, sorry.

  • Exporting Quiz Scores to Excel

How can I export quiz scores to a spreadsheet or database
without using Coldfusion or an LMS? The only references I can find
suggest using Coldfusion. I have access to Dreamweaver, but no

    Welcome to our community, smjohnson_1
I'm assuming you are referring to Tim Mushen's article at
    this

What you could do is to work with someone familiar with
linking web pages and forms to other databases. Then using the

  • Captivate 5 not Reporting Quiz scores correctly in LMS

Our organization is transitioning to Captivate 5 from Captivate 4.  We are using SumTotal as our LMS.  I took a CP4 project and converted to CP5, then uploaded it as a test.  The results were dismaying.
Captivate 5 Scorm 1.2 apprears to send scores to the LMS instead of scaled scores.  For example; If you have 20 questions the scaled score should always be 0 to 100.
In the example I converted from Captivate 4, I have 15 quiz questions.  In my first try I scored 60% on the Quiz.  Captivate reported to the LMS a percentage complete of 0 and a score of 90%.  In my second attempt I scored 80% (which is required for passing from within the Quiz setup) and Captivate reported to the LMS 100% complete and a score of 100%.
I repeat, all worked fine with the same course published as Captivate 4.
I work for a very large multinational company.  This is a killer for us if we want to go forward with Captive 5.  In fact, I have just spent a lot of money upgrading everyone in my department - money wasted if we can't use the output with our LMS.
Does anyone have any ideas, and is there a way to get to someone at Adobe if this forum is unable to provide answers?
Sorry to sound panicked, but I guess I am.

    Hi all
You're absolutely right. Adobe silence is extremely unsatisfactory and unprofessional. Below are the email correspondences. Does anyone know who are the President or the CEO and the email address? I think it’s about time to find out why from the top man himself.

    Hello Flavian,
Thanks for the reply. Regarding the thread Captivate 5 not Reporting Quiz scores correctly in LMS we would like to investigate further. Can you share those XML files with us? It can be found in Wamp Server, captivate results folder. Can you please zip it and send it to us?
    Thanks,
    Vish

    Hi Vish
The configuration is exactly as described in the Adobe help. Both the quiz and Wampserver is on the same machine. The rest is as per stated on the forum thread.
By looking at the results of the Cp5 Quiz Results Analyzer, does it make any sense? The statistics doesn't fit in at all.
Appreciate your interest in this issue. Hope we can work towards resolving this issue.
    Best regards... Flavian

    Hello There,
This is Vish from Adobe Captivate Team at Adobe. I have observed multiple threads from you on the issues you are facing with Quizzing feature. I thought of mailing you to know the issues you are facing so that I could look at them. Can you please mail me those issues and if possible few sample files too?
    Thanks,
    Vish
