Captions under thumbnails

Hi.
Does anyone know how I can do a "workaround" to get the captions in the photogallery from BC also under the thumbnailpictures? I'm doing my site in Adobe Muse.

Hey there.
Firstly. name your files well. You got no idea what is what there, always important to have good naming on files.
Like Chad mentioned you got a description you can add per image.
To have this show on the thumbnail view you would need to run some javascript to pull out either the title of the anchor or the alt of the image and create an overlay
If you was using jquery for example the sudo code example (which means this is not real code, just an example of the concept) you would have something along the lines of:
$('.photogalleryItem a').each(function() {
     var thisCaption = $(this).attr('title');
     $(this).append('<span>'+thisCaption+'</span>');
And it would be a matter of CSS to do an overlay or the display sorting of the text below the image.
This is the same basic concept that Chad showed but a bit more inline with use of the gallery.

  • Captions under thumbnails in photo album

    Hi,
    I've been trying all sorts of things to get a simple caption
    under each thumbnail in a photo album. The page is on:
    http://www.georgeglazer.com/globes/table20/table20inv/table20inv.html
    This is the code for the thumbnail that I have tried to make
    work. The thumbnails all display and sort fine. But no captions
    appear:
    <div id="thumbnails" spry:region="dsInventory">
    <div spry:repeat="dsInventory"
    onclick="dsInventory.setCurrentRow('{ds_RowID}')" style="height:
    130px; width: 100px;">
    <img src="{tn}" alt="{title}" name="tn{ds_RowID}"
    id="tn{ds_RowID}" style="left: 0px; right: 0px; height: 100%;
    width: 100%;" />
    <p class="caption" style="width: 100px;"><span
    class="whitetext">{@maker}<br
    />${@price}</span></p>
    </div>
    <p class="ClearAll"></p>
    </div>
    Among the things I have tried that did not work are:
    1. Adding id="{ds_RowID}" to the <p> tag.
    2. Putting a spry:detailregion="dsInventory" div around the
    caption text.
    3. Using {maker} and {price} instead of {@maker} and
    {@price}.
    4. Changing the height in the spry:repeat tag to something
    larger than 130px, but that just distorted the thumbnails (which
    are exactly 130px each).
    Any help is welcome!
    Thanks,
    Helen

    Kin,
    Actually, I had omitted the @ signs originally, and it didn't
    work either way, but thanks for explaining that. I looked at the
    CSS for the div containing the thumbnail, and there's nothing
    limiting height (not specifically, anyway).
    Here is the CSS for the div containing the thumbnail:
    #thumbnails {
    clear: both;
    margin: 5px auto;
    #thumbnails div {
    position: relative;
    float: left;
    margin: 4px;
    padding: 0;
    display:inline;
    #thumbnails img {
    height: auto;
    width: auto;
    position: absolute; }
    ...and for the div that contains the thumbnail div:
    #previews {
    border-top: solid 1px #404040;
    border-right: solid 1px #404040;
    border-bottom: solid 1px #3a3a3a;
    border-left: solid 1px #404040;
    padding: 5px;
    margin-bottom: 5px; margin-right: 5px;
    float: left;
    I do have the overall size of the preview pane specified
    (style="width: 370px; height: 590px;") but that should be more than
    enough room for 5 photos with 2-line captions. Is it the relative
    or absolute positioning that may be the culprit?
    --Helen
    PS Let me assure V1Fusion that I did read everything
    previously posted in this forum about photo album captions prior to
    posting my question -- they all addressed the main image but not
    the thumbnail, nevertheless, I tried various things suggested in
    those posts before giving up figuring it out myself...

  • Captions under thumbnails and file name too

    Is there a way to get captions to show under the thumbnails? The closest thing I can find is to have the properties window open at the bottom right, but then you only see one at a time.
    I'd also like to have the filename appear under each one.
    Are these things possible?

    File Name is possible and easy
    in the Organizer workspace go to the Edit menu > Preferences choose General and then click on the box for Show File Name in Details. Then as long as your thumbnail size is not very small (and you have Show Details checked in the Organizer window) you should see the file name below each thumbnail .
    For caption,
    as you noticed it will show in the Properties. It will also show when you only have a single photo displayed (largest slider size).
    Are you aware that using the Find menu, you can search on the contents of the Caption field? This is not exactly what you requested but I have found it useful at times.

  • Can I display cations under thumbnails in Organizer?

    Is it possible to display captions under the thumbnails in PSE 11 Organizer? If so, how? Thanks.

    Captions become visible only when in full zoomed view.
    So, no way of doing this in thumbnail view...
    However, the Information pane does show caption for the selected thumbnail so that might be a workaround in your case.
    Thanks

  • How to add a caption under a photo?

    I have previously struggled to paste a caption under a JPEG photo for my web site by increasing the canvas size by an inch or two, entering the text in the space below, and then cropping off the additional space above the photo.  Now I have 6 captions to add to photos for an article but when I try to paste the captions into the space under the photo it always pastes it in the center on top of the photo instead and I canot move it down to the bottom space at all. There must be a way to more easily add captions under photos.

    Do you have PSE7? In guided edit there's an action for adding canvas beneath a photo, in the Action Player.

    Hi. Im new in Muse and im trying to learn. My next challenge is to make thumbnails with text under like this:
    And when visitors click a thumbnail it should pop up the original size picture in a lightbox. A mouseover big pic
    should also work.
    Like this site. Affinity Surfaces | Color Gallery Here they have text on thumbnails and when you click on it it shows the full aize pic
    Any tips?
    My goal is to create my own art-page where i can show and sell my artwork

    That worked pnoypie
    I had to manually put pic in thumbnail and in lightbox. (or is it an other way?)
    I also had to put the text under thumbnail manually... but thats ok. To bad i cant group it with the thumbnail.
    Is it a way around that?

  • Captions under photo

    I want to put captions under a group picture and save it as a .jpg. Then I want to be able to send these .jpg,s to several people using many different computers and have them be able to view it. (Thats why I want to use .jpg) My problem is when using Elements V2.0, the caption only shows when I print the picture. How can I get the caption to show when just viewing? I can put the caption on the picture and it is viewable but this is not practable with a large group.

    You need to extend the canvas.
    Open your picture
    Go to Image>resize>canvas size
    In the height field, enter 115%(my choice). If this does not provide sufficient room, you can increase it to suit by trial and error
    Select a color for the canvas extension
    Click on the anchor point in the 12 o'clock position
    Enter the information with the type tool

  • How do I get caption under landscape

    How do I get a caption under a photo in landscape orientation?  The "click here for caption" only appears in portrait orientation.

    Thanks, but I tried that.  It says portrait, but it still prints landscape.  I tried turning off the printer.  I called Brother.  They said it was the Adobe software, but I've never had this problem before.

  • How to place caption under landscape

    How do I get a caption under a photo placed in landscape orientation?  The "click here for caption" only appears under portrait orientation. It's the last thing I have to do to complete my "album".

    Two ideas I can think of:
    1) Create multiple pivot tables and then display them one under the other
    2) Create multiple measure columns such as "male_amt", "female_amt", "white_amt", "asian_amt", "black_amt", etc. for all the columns you need. Then you could simple stack them in a single pivot table.
    Option #2 might give you the prettiest results - but also requires a lot more maintenance (for instance, if you reclassify ethnic groups, you'd have to go through the reports to add additional metric columns).
    Hope this helps,
    Scott

  • Caption under text wrapped image

    I would like to place an image into a text block, apply text wrap and add a caption under the image. CS5, Mac.

    Pardon my ignorance. This is my first time here. The question is how do I do it?
    I place my image, add text wrap with enough space for a caption at the bottom. I type the caption as a separate text block and drag it into the open space where it just disappears. It used to work in CS2 but doesn't in CS5.
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

  • Caption under photo

    Is there an easy way to put a caption under  a photo in CS4? I have a large text box with a photo and text, but am not  having luck with a caption.

    I don't believe there is an easy way of doing this in CS4 (anybody, correct me if I'm wrong) other than use a text frame with a specifically created caption paragraph style under the graphic itself (grouped with the graphic).
    Just a note .. CS5 has a great new addition in that respect:

    Any ideas?

    That's only one reason that I installed Gallery 2 on my website and I'm building galleries there. Personally, I get very impatient to wait for the loading of large images for every image to find out something about the photo. But to be honest, most people don't have much information with their photos so it doesn't matter. I like to tell at least a little bit of a story with pictures by use of captions and other information.
    All of the photo information in this gallery was entered in Lightroom. Titles, captions, location, city, state, country (if country is USA it doesn't display). More global information (about the entire gallery and the sections within it) is of course not stored in Lightroom.
    http://www.nichollsfamily.us/gallery/v/Summer+2007/
    It was a lot of work to set it up, but once that is done, the photos themselves get loaded into an album, ordered by name, date, or manually, and the information is automatically displayed as I have programmed it to do. This means yet another database, but most of my data is safe in Lightroom, so I'm not terribly concerned. I'm so unconcerned I haven't even made a Gallery 2 database backup yet... Hum...

  • Placing Caption under the image (photo)

    I have Photoshop Elements 5.0.2 running under Windows Vista Ultimate on an HP Pavilion having 4GB RAM.
    Would like to place a caption directly under 4x6 or 6x4 photo. How do I do this? I have spent hours on this. For printing the photo there seems to be some relationships between canvas size, image size and contents of the paper size field of the Page Setup window. Where does one find what all the fancy choices are in the paper size field of the Page Setup window? I have searched the help and also my copy of Brundage's Photoshop Elements 5: The Missing Manual. Failure. Besides I'm wasting ink.
    Would prefer not to have to type in using the Text (T) tool directly in the image as it appears to drastically increase the physical file size of the image (from 689K to 25.785MB).
    I do not care if the caption is on a border on not. Would like no borders on top, left or right.
    Please specify what goes in the Page Setup and the Print Preview windows.
    Thanks.

    I want the caption to appear under the picture.
    I have come up with one solution: Crop the image (photo) to, e.g., 4x5.5, then extend the canvas .5 inch below the image, thus obtaining a 4x6 for printing. Then I use the text tool (T) to type in what I want as the caption on the canvas showing at the bottom of the image.
    Is there a way of using the built-in Caption facility rather than my hokey method above? I would like to not have to retype the text (once for the Caption which I can have as part of files to send folks and once to print). - There must be a way of having the built-in Caption show up on a border which only shows at the bottom and outside (not on) the photo. (?)
    Thanks to Juergen for solving the size problem. - How stupid of me!
    Thanks Barbara.

  • Subtitles/captions under title and signs on some new iTunes movies

    Recently I purchased "Indiana Jones - The Complete Collection" and was amazed to see that on all four movies, when the movie title is displayed or any sign, foreign subtitles appear underneath and I could not find a way to get rid of them. Subtitles are off, closed captioning is off. Apple were very responsive and gave me a refund and I assumed that it was only an error in these particular movies.
    But, I just purchased four of the recently released, on iTunes, "James Bond" movies and they all suffer from the exact same problem and I cannot find any setting that is incorrect on my systems. These subtitles/captions are displayed under the movie title when it appears and any signs, if I watch them on my iMac or iPad and both have the latest software.
    Are all of these movies being encoded incorrectly by Apple, is that really possible, or am I doing something wrong? Other movies I've purchased have never had this problem. Strangely the reviews for "Jaws" contain many descriptions of this exact problem, but for that movie I do not have the problem.
    Can anyone help me understand what is going on, I cannot be the only one to be experiencing this?

    I have the exact same problem. I bought Lady and the Tramp and Winnie the Poo last week and every time there is a scene with written text displayed, they have the foreign subtitle showing up underneath, and in my settings all the subtitles and captions are turned off.  I have read in other threads this has happened before and apple sent out a notification to re download the movie after they fix it. Argh, frustrating

  • Add a Caption Under a Photo

    Using Elements 9, how can I add a caption with names in a blank white space under a photo of a group of people?

    One way is to use the Crop Tool to add add more space under the photo.
    (i used a sample photo from the pse 10 samples folder)
    1. Select the Crop tool and set the background color in the toolbox to the color of the added space you want.
        I used white in the screenshot below.
    2. Draw the Crop area around the whole photo.
    3. Pull down on the bottom middle handle and then hit the green check mark.
    4. Use the Type Tool to add your caption.
