Captivate 5 in Articulate Presenter

Client wants CP 5 module published
in Articulate Presenter....how do I do that?

If you are creating a new project, set the resolution in the opening dialogue screen. If your project already exists, click on the Modify tab and select Rescale Project. Make sure you uncheck Maintain Aspect Ratio. It is a good idea to fix the resolution of the Captivate movie at slightly less than the 720 x 540 pixel resolution of the Articulate slide in Presenter
1.      Publish your project in Captivate to Flash using the Output Option Export to HTML.
http://daveperso.mediaenglishonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/cap5.png
2.      Navigate to your published folder and rename the HTML file to index.html
3.      Open PowerPoint and from the Articulate menu choose Web Object.
4.      Select the folder with your Captivate files and display in Full Slide.
  5.       Go to Player Templates and choose “Lock presentation at optimal size”.
This is to ensure that your Captivate will fill the Articulate slide, even if the user opens up their browser to full screen.
  6.        Publish your Articulate presentation.

  • Adobe Presenter vs. Articulate Presenter

    Hello!
I previously used Articulate Presenter to develop content. However, due to some major software bugs I was having with Articulate, I switched to using Adobe Captive (and am very happy). Now I just came across Adobe Presenter and it seems exactly the same as Articulate Presenter. Can anyone tell me what are the differences between Adobe Presenter and Articulate Presenter? Does Adobe Presenter produce smaller files? I like to keep my files (which have graphics, animation, and narration) under 5 MG.
Thanks for any input you can give me!

  • Captivate and Articulate

    Hello,
I created 2 sets of questions in Captivate using images and
roll-overs and correct and incorrect feedback. The first set has 3
questions, T/F, multiple choice and matching. The second set has 2
questions a multiple choice, and matching. I have the submit and
next buttons on the question. I used these questions last year in a
course that was published in Articulate and uploaded to our LMS
(Cornerstone) and I had no problems.
This year we revised the current course, I made text changes
to the questions in Captivate and published. After I import these
into Articulate, you can not see the corrective feedback text when
you select the correct answer, the incorrect feedback text will
always display even when you select the correct answer. I used the
Import .swf in Articulate to display in presenter window. If I
import and display in a new window, thew question works.
I am baffled to what has changed that would prevent the
correct feedback from displaying. Anyone ever hear of this and have
any suggestions on how to fix this or what I should be looking at
    to fix this?

You say nothing about the version of Captivate used to create
the courses. Obviously, "last year" indicates that either Captivate
1.0 or 1.0.1 was used, but it's rather important to know which. The
implicaiton of "this year" indicates you upgraded to Captivate 2.0
    - is that correct?
Pending replies to the above, it occurs to me that the
problem does have to do with conversion of the original files -
specifically some branching seems to have gone awry. Let us know
what version of Captivate you used originally - and which you are
using now. Might not hurt to include the same info on the version
    of Articulate Presenter being used.
    Thanks.

  • Migrate Articulate Presenter 13 Content to Adobe Presenter 10

We need to migrate our current library of ~150 modules (approx. 10 mins each) authored in Articulate Presenter 13 over to Adobe Presenter 10 and I'm not sure the best way to go about synching the animations and narrations. The animations are all "OnClick" in PPT, and are synchronized in Articulate Presenter with the Sync Audio feature, but the audio files are not available as I believe they are within the proprietary .ppta file.
    Here's what I've tried...
Publish Articulate Presenter 13 for web
Rename published mp3 files to correspond with slide numbers
Open the PPTX file in Adobe Presenter
Import renamed mp3 files that correspond with the slide numbers
    Re-sync animations in Adobe Presenter
This is obviously quite tedious and time intensive, and I need to see about other means of synching animations.
    Questions
Is there another way to synch the animations?I could take the On Click in the Animations pane in PPT and change them to After PreviousNeed to know the timing in secondsNot easily discerned in the audio editor in Articulate Presenter
What happens to the audio after I've imported an MP3, which is already compressed and then publish in Adobe Presenter? Is it further compressed or does it maintain the same audio quality as when I brought it in?
    Thanks in advance!

Is there another way to synch the animations? No. You will need to resynch the audio through either the Sync Audio tool or the Edit Audio tool.
Could you set the animations to After Previous? Yes. I believe you can set a delay timing in PPT and have Presenter take it (not gospel truth, but I recall that working some time and a few versions ago). however you will have to know how long the audio needs to run before cuing the next animation. I would think that just doing the animations on click and synching them through the normal means would be easier and faster. My 2c.
What happens to the audio when published? If the audio is at a higher quality than the selected publish quality for the audio, then it will be reencoded to the more compressed audio settings. If it is at or below the publishing settings for the audio, it just creates copies of the audio files.
    Hope that helps.

  • Captivate vs. Presenter

Can someone tell me why someone would choose Abobe Presenter over Adobe Captivate?  Is one better, cheaper, easier to use?  I have Captivate and I'm wondering if I'm missing out and if Presenter offers something that Captivate doesn't.

When I converted PowerPoint to Captivate, it kept all of my hyperlinks.  Did it not do that for you?
I kept all of my hyperlinks to websites and pdf files, but it would not convert hyperlinks to videos and sound files.  Does Presenter preserve links to video and sound.
For the TOC labels, is it just the TOC or all of the text in the captions on the screen that gets translated too?  Because we send training to our foreign branches and it would be nice for the material to translate automatically.

    Subject: Captivate vs. Presenter
    Hello,
Rick wouldn't mind if I add my 2 cents
In Presenter all hyperlinks, assigned in PPT are preserved, which is not the case in CP.
And for international users: some aspects of the TOC in Presenter are very interesting. The labels from the TOC are translated in the language of the installed Office version on the user's PC. I'll try to explain: having Dutch-speaking, English-speaking, French-speaking and Spanish-speaking students, I do not have to translate the labels in the TOC. In CP you'll have to translate them. Some extra's in the Presenter TOC: ability to attach files, nice panes for Search, Notes, Thumbnails. But: you do not have the famous eyedropper tool (is there in CP) for changing colours for the skin.
It seems that I have been mentioning the advantages of Presenter only, although CP is by far my favourite: simulations, interactivity in training, branching scenarios etc are only possible in CP.
The workflow, described by Rick, is also one I'm using a lot: having a presentation in Presenter, and inserting CP-movies and other assets in this presentation. But: some functionalities of CP4 will not work when inserting the movies in Presenter such as right-click.
Nice feature of Presenter is also its capability to print to a multimedia pdf, for those who do want to have a Flash-file.
IMHO, Presenter, Captivate (and Acrobat) are no concurrents, they work very nice together and I'm very glad to have all three of them.

  • Adding captivate "slides" to presenter

I have a presentation created in captivate. I would like to add each of the slides from captivate to a corresponding slide in PowerPoint and publish. I want to do this because I like the sidebar and other features that presenter offers.
I first publish my captivate file, then I go into PowerPoint and use the swf insert function. I only see one file, with the first "slide".  how do I get a file that would correspond to each of the captivate slides?
the other way to do this if there was a way to have the same side bar features in captivate as their is with presenter, but I don't think there is.
    Captivate V 5
    Presenter V 7.
    windows 7
    PowerPoint 2007
    thanks

    sbalk,
A Captivate project, by default, creates a consolidated SWF file; so taking  your question a bit further, in order to have separate SWFs on the same number  of slides in Presenter, you'd have to have the same number of independant SWF  files from Captivate to begin with.
However, there's actually a much bigger challenge here, and that has to do  with the integration of Captivate 5 files w/ Presenter.  Without getting  technical here, the bottom line is that inserting Cp5 files into the current  version of Adobe Presenter will not work or operate properly.  This has to do  with a "programming mismatch" between the two software applications.
My best recommendation is to link out to your Captivate content from a slide  in PowerPoint.  Paresh at Adobe put together a brief tutorial on this: https://admin.adobe.acrobat.com/_a295153/presenterhyperlinks/
So in order to have separate Captivate SWFs across a number of slides in  Presenter, you're probably looking at splitting up your Captivate project into a  number of smaller "units" and then linking to each unit from a slide in  PowerPoint.  Not ideal, I know, but until Presenter undergoes a  revision/release/upgrade, there's not much better news here.

  • Can Keynote do what Articulate Presenter can do?

I have a client who is converting to Mac Hurrah!
I do audio presentations for him in Articulate Presenter and would like to convince him to switch to Keynote. I want to be positive it can do everything Articulate can do.
    Thanks!

You might try downloading the free 30-day trial version of iWork. You might also check out the online Keynote tutorials, especially the one on adding voiceover, as that sounds close to what you might want.

  • Captivate 3  in Articulate Presenter 09 - Error unable to acquire  LMS API

    Hi ,
I have created a  10 captivate  movies and published them ( there are no quizzes attached to them however there is interaction in the movies as users have to enter correct text responses, click boxes etc).
I have then used  presenter 09 in articulate and used the insert flash movie option, made sure that I selected the SKIN file , copied the remaining captivate files in
before publishing I ensured that the there was no bookmarks, unchecked the options open in anew bower  window,   when running in LMS ignore flash cookie. I then zipped the whole folder and uploaded and selected the index.html file .
When I am using articulate with no captivate movies I do not get the error, when I include a captivate movie I get the error. I have looked at all the blogs and have updated the scorm manifest files tried republishing but to no avail. I have tried republishing and with a  click box and the reporting boxes checked again to no avail.
After 6 hours of trying I am now starting to pull  my hair out and doubt my sanity  is there anyone out there that can help  it would truly be grateful.
The e log message is attached and is as clear as mud to me!!!!

Your course is set to be SCORM-compliant.
Upload your course to an SCORM-compliant LMS or SCORM Cloud (https://cloud.scorm.com) and test. You will not get the error. It has nothing to do with trial license expiry.

  • How to integrate adobe flash widgets from Adobe captivate with Adobe Presenter?

    Hi all,
We are a group of students who are creating a number of flash widgets that allows them to create e-learning  activities. We are creating specific widgets in Flash  for use in Captivate and then the results of the widgets in Adobe Presenter. The  client noticed that widgets that work in Adobe Captivate don't always work in  Adobe Presenter. Is there a way to make this function  correctly?
Secondly, if it  isn't possible to make that work correctly through the first method, is it  possible to utilise Adobe Air to do the same or similar process. The client  would prefer if we could integrate anything we use with an LMS and SCORM. But we  believe it may not be possible to do this with Adobe Air.
Would someone be able to help us out with this?
    Thanx

Some of the functionalities of CP4 (I assume that you use this version?) only work in a CP-published SWF, p.e. using the right mouse click as a trigger. I have inserted several CP-SWF's into Adobe Presenter, while using some of the widgets provided with CP4 and did not have any problems with these (p.e. Flash button). But I do not know what kind of widgets you created. Do they function all right in CP4 itself?

  • Captivate 6.1: Presentation stucks on loading in Citrix Einvorment @ IE8.

We encounter problems with loading presentation  in Citrix Einvorment @ IE8.
It stucks during loading. There are really fast connection 100mbit/s (local) between citrix IE8 and the server.
When running in normal IE9 on local machine the same presentation loads slower (1mbit/s connection) but it loads without any problems and runs great.
Can anyone help us to solve this problem?
    Flash version: 11.5.502.146
    IE:
    Loading screen:
    Publish settings:

OK. I saw you mention Flash Player 11 was the version but you did not state which browser had it (the browser on the Citrix box or the browser on the end user's PC).  Your settings show you are publishing to FP 11, but if the Citrix browser happens to only have Flash Player 9 or 10 installed, then that would explain why the same Captivate content stalls in the Citrix environment but plays fine on the end user's PC browser.
My feeling is still that your IE8 browser in the Citrix environment is either missing something (e.g. the right version of Flash Player) or else there's something else going on in Citrix which is interferring with playback.

  • Skins in Captivate - like in Presenter

    Hi,
I am a great fan of the skin options in Adobe Presenter - I really like to include a picture of the presenter, his bio, contact, and tabs like search and notes.
In Captivate I have only been able to edit the skin colours and stuff, but I can't figure out how to apply the same right side features as mentioned above - if any one can help it will be highly appriciated.
    Best,
    Tom

    Hey there!
Thanks for pointing out some differences. I'm not "Presenter Savvy" so I'm basically clueless on that.
One thing caught my eye though. You said:
    Lilybiri wrote:
...However the Presenter skins do have some aspects that are (still?) missing in CP4: such adding notes to each slide...
How are these presented to the user? I ask, because it would seem to me that a few ways may exist that would allow Captivate to emulate this. (To an extent)

  • How to Import a Captivate Quiz into Presenter

When I try to import a quiz into presenter I can't find the

The hotspot quiz type and sequencing quiz types are great and

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Someone had mentioned the possibility of saving each individual layer in Photoshop as a png file and importing into Indesign and adjusting it in there
What do you mean by "adjust"? Editing of Photoshop images should be done in Photoshop.
Sure, it's possible to save individual layers from an image in Photoshop as inidvidual files in a variety of formats, but what's the point? You could just as easily import the layered file, then copy/paste it into a new layer for each layer in the image and use layer visibility to control which ones show. I don't think that will do you a lot of good, though, if you use adjustment layers or opacity controls on the layer in Photoshop.

  • Publishing to Connect Server: Captivate vs. Presenter

I've created e-learning sessions in both Adobe Presenter and
Captivate. I've published both types of e-learning to the Adobe
Acrobat Connect server hosted by Adobe.
When users review the work created in Adobe Presenter, as far
as I can tell the user always sees the full screen. When the user
resizes the browser, the content within the window resizes with it.
The user will always sees everything that was recorded.
This doe not happen with my Captivate recordings. When the
user resizes the window, the loss of screen space results in some
part of the screen not being visible. On the last set of modules I
published, I had to ask users to change Internet Explorer to "full
screen mode" so they can see everything.
Why does this happen? Is there anyway I can get the Captivate
files act more like the Presenter files when published to the Adobe
    Acrobat Connect server?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Hi - we have had that issue as well and I can't tell you it
was resolved, but can tell you a workaround.
What we have done is simply publish the zip files to the
desktop, and then upload into Connect Pro as Content. That has
worked every time (knock on wood).
