Capture PDF Events in Web Page

Hi Team,
I am not sure whether this is the right forum for my requirement. Provide me the correct location incase this is not the one.
I have the following requirements
To embed a pdf document in a web page (build using asp.net)
Capture the page navigation events. This is to ensure the user visits the last page of the pdf document.
First requirement can be easily solved by using a iframe. But that will leave me having no control over the pdf document.
Hence I am looking for any control which takes the file path and displays the pdf document and the control also raises the events(next button clicked, previous button clicked, etc).
Any help in this regard will be grateful.
regards,
Chandra.

Thanks Leonard for your useful inputs.
One more request.
If I embed the PDF (containing acrobat javascripts) in a webpage, then can the javascript in the PDF communicate with the Web Pages javascript running in the browser. Something like pdf javascript function invoking the page's javascript function(to notify an event like Nth page loaded).

why do I get a black screen when i click on a PDF in a web page? Firefox works as is should.

    Hi,
From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Extensions tab. If you have any installed, turn that off, then relaunch Safari. Try a PDF file.
If it's not Extensions, open a Finder window. Select MacintoshHD in the Sidebar on the left. Now open the Library folder then the Internet Plug-Ins folder. If you see any files such as this:
    AdobePDF Browser or Viewer Plug-in
Move it to the Trash, relaunch Safari.

Type of copy paste the following:

  • Silent print a PDF from a web page using Flex. We are targeting Windows and Mac with Arcobat reader installed

We are planning to Silent print a PDF from a web page using Flex. We are targeting Windows and Mac with Arcobat reader installed. I have tried using the AIR appliaction and it worked, But our requirement is NO INSTALL to the user machine for the silent printing. It is just from web page and silent printing to the default printer to the desktop/Laptop. Can anyone share your thoughts and experience with us. It will be very helpful..
For AIR : I tried the thread Re: AIR and PDF showing/silent printing

    Hey CodeMonkey & Ross,
Did you either of you ever find a solution? I'm stuck too, it seems I can get remote printing on all these PDFs to work but it just prints a blank page since I've been using Javascript in the browser, not Adobe's (they are Engineering drawings that I do not have permission to edit so I can't just insert code into them but I need to make work instructions). I've been scouring the internet for hours now, it seems that this thread is the only relevant/useful one at this point. No one else was trying to achieve this for similar reasons to mine.
    Thanks guys,

  • How do I open a pdf on a web page in Safari without Acrobat Reader?

At the moment I have removed Acrobat Reader 10.3.1 because it conflicts with Safari. Preview is a perfectly fine pdf reader (and with lots of very nice features) but I don't see how I can make Preview open a pdf from a web page until it has been downloaded to file. And I have found at least one site that will not download to file before opening.

Right-click in the PDF when it's displayed in Safari and select Open with Preview from the popup menu. Depending on how the PDF is embedded in the web page, this may not be possible.

  • Why can I not create a PDF from a web page on my Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro on my new Windows 8 computer? It worked fine on my windows XP system?

Why can I not create a PDF from a web page on my Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro on my new Windows 8 computer? It worked fine on my windows XP system?

Acrobat 8 is not compatible with Windows 8,  for the simple reason it was
created much before it and Adobe could not participate the changes to the
OS that Microsoft implemented many years later on. You need to buy the
    current version for compatibility.

  • Acrobat crashes when creating a PDF from a web page

Whenever I ask Acrobat to create a PDF from a web page, it crashes halfway through the process.  Here is an example from the BBC:-
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-19585341
Printing to PDF from the browser does not produce an accurate document.  The font is too big, and most of the pictures do not appear.
    I use Acrobat X Pro version 10.1.4.
This is a PC problem.  On the Mac it works.

The problem I mentioned is peculiar to Acrobat 10 and also to my PC.  On a Mac I can create PDF's from webpages normally.
I also notice that when printing to PDF from Opera only the first page comes out.  (Using Firefox all pages are printed to PDF.)

  • Using Adobe Pro X I cannot create a PDF from a web page.

After a recent upgrade from a previous version of Firefox, I am now unable to create a PDF from a web page using the Adobe Pro toolbar on the web page.  A "save as" box appears and then the conversion process dies.  I can print the page using Adobe Pro as my printer and it works fine. I can create other docs with Adobe Pro.   How do I fix this on my browser?
    Thanks.

  • Acrobat crashes whenever attempting to create a PDF from a web page

    Windows 7 SP1
    Acrobat X 10.1.9
This problem only occurs in Windows.  The Mac version works perfectly.  The crash occurs immediately on executing the command, without any wait while the Web page is processed.

...but unfortunately it has resurfaced, despite using Repair to mend Acrobat.  I am out of ideas, except to create PDF's from Web pages using my Mac.
It worked for two pages, but crashed on the third.

  • Acrobat Pro XI: Creating a PDF from a Web Page

When I try to create a PDF from a Web page using Acrobat XI, I get the Error Code "Nothing done" and "Authorization Failure", but it doesn't happen on all webistes. Does anyone know what could be causing this and how to fix it? I'm using the trial version of Acrobat Pro XI on a Mac. Same result with either Firefox or Safari.
    Thanks.

It's likely a HTTPS site or you have an authenticating proxy server where you are required to enter a password to acess the web page.

  • How can I get Safari 5.1.2 to automatically open pdf files on web pages by using Adobe Reader?

Safari 5.1.2 always opens pdf files on web pages as a single frame and thus it will not print properly.  How can I get Safari to open all pdfs with Adobe Reader 10.1.1?

    Carolyn,
Thanks for sending your suggestion on how to solve my problem.  Unfortunately, it did not work for me.  I trashed the file, quit and relaunched Safari, but the problem remained the same.  Although it did not work, I do appreciate that you took the time to try to help me.
    Thanks.

  • Can you link to specific start and end pages of pdf in a web page

I'm using iframes to display a pdf on a web page. i want to be able to link to for example pages 2-3 of a 20page document.
I know i can link to a start page or a bookmark/destination but i only want those 2-3pages available to the viewer not the whole document.
    Is this possible?

Not without a server-side application that extracts those pages as a new
file and opens it instead of the original.

  • Open .pdf in a web page

My client is the publisher of a magazine and that magazine
has a web site. He wants to place a .pdf file on a page in the web
site and have it open in that page. I know how to insert a .pdf so
the viewer can download it. What we want to do is different than
that. Just want to open the .pdf in a web page.
I have no idea how to do this.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Cannot Make PDFs of many web pages

Mac running Tiger. I have the latest Firefox. This has been happening for many versions of Firefox, tho. I cannot always make full page pdfs of certain web pages. Safari has no problem giving me the full page but Firefox truncates. Asked friends on Snow Leopard who tell me they experience the same problem so this isn't o/s related. I am giving you a single link as an example but this happens on MANY sites.
== URL of affected sites ==
    http://www.boston.com/ae/tv/articles/2010/06/11/true_blood_continues_its_fangtastic_journey_in_season_three/

That problem can be caused by the Yahoo! Toolbar that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links in that part of the screen not clickable.

Read here >  Known Issues | Adobe products on Mac OS 10.7 Lion
    And go to ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Move the PDF Browser plugin to the Trash.
    Quit Safari, empty the Trash.
Relaunch Safari.  You should be able to view PDF files now.
