  • Update tamil font in oracle

    To update tamil font in oracle database
    can anyone help me on this
    regards,
    rajesh

    I am repeating: read the guide, at least the basic chapters. Then, ask questions. You mix basic terms. You do not configure fonts in a database, because a font is a set of glyphs representing characters drawn on a screen. The database is a data storage server. It has no GUI and it does not display anything. Only client tools and applications connecting to the database can display data. I do not know if you talk about the database character set for your database or real fonts for your operating system. These are very different things even if they are both needed for Tamil data to be processed correctly. Any Oracle database (at least since Oracle7.3) can be configured to store Tamil data by creating it with the Unicode character set. Use AL32UTF8 with the current versions (>=9.0).
    Windows can display Tamil since Windows 2000. The font name Latha. You may need to add East Asian text support through Control Panel in Windows 2000/XP before displaying Tamil.
    I am not sure how well Tamil is supported on Unix-like systems, including Linux, but I assume at least some applications can process it.

  • Use of APIs to update Absence info in Oracle HR/SSHR 11i

    Dear all,
    Use of APIs and Absences
    1. Can you please let me know which are the relevant APIs to update Absences Information into Oracle Human Resources Application?
    2. Where can I find relevant documentation on how to deploy these APIs?
    Thanking you in advance for your feedback
    Best regards
    Elena

    Hi Elena,
    You may find a list of the APIs in HRMS on Metalink. Just query for "APIs in HRMS". For absences you may use the following APIs: hr_absence_type_api, hr_person_absence_api
    You may create a PL/SQL program to use these APIs or alternatively use web ADI to create upload integrators. You may have to write a custom wrapper before calling these APIs if required.

  • How to update item instance in oracle install base?

    Hi,
    I have a doubt in updating item instance in oracle install base.
    I am using a API named csi_item_instance_pub.update_item_instance for this. I want to update Party OWNER, party contacts, Current location,Install location, bill_to address,ship_to address..etc. When i try to update party owner, it is updating in csi_i_parties(col:party_id) as well as updating in csi_item_instance(owner_party_id). In csi_item_instance table,owner_party_id column is updated. but corresponding owner_party_account_id is not changed. I have given party_account_id to update in csi_ip_accounts table. It has changed in csi_ip_accounts table. But in csi_item_instance table(owner_party_account_id) is not changing. Can anybody help on how to change owner_party_account_id in csi_item_instance table please? Thanks in advance.

    Out of the box, I don't think that there is any API or program to delete the records from csi_item_instances because deleting IB record affects many modules (like Inventory, Order, Service Contracts etc). IB records should be expired if they are created incorrectly and you can run Transaction History Purge program to delete all history records related to that item.

  • Updating a table from Oracle Report

    This is on Report 6i. How do I achieve this? I need to pass UPDATE statement on an oracle database table based on a condition from report formula.
    Thanks,
    R

    So, there is no difficulty in this. As normal DML are working. You can perform also UPDATE/INSERT from report on your condition. So, you can use where you want.
    Or you want to know something else?

  • Update the kernel on oracle

    Hi,
       I want to update the kernel,os is windows and db is oracle.i will stop mmc before doing update,is it necessery to stop any oracle services along with sap mmc.can any one guide me for same.
    Thanku

    Hi,
          To apply kernel you do not need to stop any Oracle related service. This are the steps that I thought might usefull..
    On your sytem
    -> at OS level type disp+work --> it will give you information
    like 32 bit or 64 bit and Unicode or Non-Unicode. Make a
    note of it.
    -> go to SMP and download the appropriate kernel by going
    checking 32-64 bit and unicode and non-unicode.
    -> go to DataBase independant and download
    SAPEXE<version>.SAR
    -> got to DataBase dependant and download
    SAPEXEDB<version>.SAR
    -> for safer side make a backup copy of your existing kernel
    with the date and version info.
    -> Shutdown your SAP (NOT YOUR OS). if you have
    application server bring them down first and then Central
    Instance.
    -> now extract this two new .SAR file into your existing
    kernel or to any new folder by typing
    SAPCAR -xvf SAPEXE***.SAR and SAPEXEDB***.SAR
    -> if you have extracted the files at some other location that
    copy them to your existing location.
    -> if you are using linux than it is good to do
    cleanipc <instance no> remove command, on windows
    it is not required.
    -> Start your Central Instance. type dpmon to find out the
    system status. Once the sytem is up start your
    Application server also.

  • Update a view in oracle forms

    Hi.
    I have a block based on a view ( this view is based on two tables). How do I update the base tables when the record based on this view is updated in the form?
    Thanks

    one way is to control the transaction by using database trigger " instead of "
    on the view.
    If a view is inherently updatable and has INSTEAD OF triggers, the triggers take preference. In other words, Oracle fires the triggers instead of performing DML on the view.
    second way is to execute a DML from the forms manually by intersepting the default functionality of on-insert, on-update trigger and so on..... to perform transaction on the table.
    But i'll recommend using the INSTEAD of triggers, see documentation for more help and examples.

  • Problem un updating jdk 6 on Oracle Application Server 10.1.3 on EBS 12.0.4

    Hi All
    In Process of upgrading Oracle EBS 12.0.4 to 12.1.1 I updated the $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/jdk to jdk 6u24. After replacing the original jdk with jdk 6u24 when I attempted to start the apps adoacorectl.sh failed with below error.
    lld.so.1: /d4/app/oracle/apps/12.0.0/vdd700/web/10.1.3/appsutil/jdk/bin/java: fatal: libjli.so: open failed: No such file or d
    irectory
    I followed below steps to update the jdk
    1. extracted the jdk-6u24-solaris-sparcv9.tar.Z to $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/jdk
    2. Copied lib from old jdk to $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/jdk
    3. Copied lib from oldjdk/jre to $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/jdk/jre
    4. The java was not infact in jdk/bin rather it was /bin/sparcv9 so I copied them to /jdk/bin. The same way copied the executables from /jdk/jre/bin/sparcv9 to /jdk/jre/bin .
    PLease help me troubleshoot this.

  • Guide to installing XE and Apex on Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.3 (64 bit)

    I have just been through a time consuming and frustrating process of installing Oracle XE 10gR2 on Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.3 x86-64 and I want to share my experience so that others can benefit from it and overcome the same problems more quickly.
    Prior to starting I had installed OEL 5.3 and been using it for a few days. The system I am using is a home built box with an AMD Phenom X4 955 Black Edition, 8 Gb RAM, Highpoint RR2680 RAID controller with 4 1TB disks in a RAID5 array and an additional 320Gb HDD storing the OS. I am using KDE3.5 on the desktop.
    The main problem I encountered was with SELinux. As I eventually intend to have this system exposed on the Internet I was reluctant to switch it off despite having read extensively about the issues surrounding it and Oracle. I had several failed attempts at the installation process before succumbing to the reality that SELinux and Oracle are not happy bedfellows. I decided to switch SELinux to permissive mode having followed the advice here.
    I found a very helpful guide to installing XE on Linux here as part of the installation of an application called Spacewalk. Note that you do not need to complete the whole Spacewalk installation, but just follow the instructions in the linked page.
    Before you start you need to ensure that the UID of your oracle user is less than 500. Mine was 500, so I used the following commands to fix this:
    usermod -u 250 oracle
    find / -uid 500 -exec chown oracle {} \;
    These change the oracle UID to 250 (but check that isn't already used first!) and the find command searches for all files that were owned by oracle (but weren't after the usermod cmd) and changes them back to oracle's ownership.
    Now follow the Spacewalk instructions until you reach the Server Setup section. Before you do this you need to make a couple of changes to the script /etc/init.d/oracle-xe. I found these changes in various places, such as [link(1)|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=1345771&#1345771] and [link(2)|http://dbataj.blogspot.com/2008/08/lblibrarypath-is-not-set-on-startup.html].
    Note that in link(1) the oracle-xe-selinux packages installed have the same effect as the chcon command on the shared libraries so it isn't necessary to perform this step.
    Open /etc/init.d/oracle-xe in vi (or your favourite editor) and do the following:
    line 49: change /bin/su to /sbin/runuser
    after line 52 (export PATH...) add the following lines:
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    There are further changes recommended to /etc/init.d/oracle-xe in [this post|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=3201491&#3201491] but I haven't done them yet.
    Having done the above changes you can now configure Oracle XE by running /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure (as root!). As I have Apache Tomcat running on port 8080 I changed the default HTTP port to 8500 but kept the listener on its default port of 1521. Once the confuration script is done you will need to change the ports SELinux uses for Oracle as follows:
    semanage port -d -t oracle_port_t -p tcp 9000 - deletes port 9000, which is the SELinux default port for Apex
    semanage port -a -t oracle_port_t -p tcp 1521 - ensure that listener port is OK (assuming you used default of 1521, change accordingly if you didn't)
    semanage port -a -t oracle_port_t -p tcp 8500 - add the new Apex HTTP port to SELinux
    After all this running:
    semanage port -l | grep oracle
    should show you:
    oracle_port_t tcp 1521, 8500
    I ignored the TNSNAMES.ORA part of the Spacewalk instructions and proceeded with the 'Client setup on 64bit platform' and 'Configuring sqlplus' sections.
    For the latter I created a bash script which I have made available in the oracle user and my own user's home directories:
    cat > configure_oracle_10g_xe.sh
    ORACLE_HOME=/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server
    PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin
    ORACLE_SID=XE
    export ORACLE_HOME ORACLE_SID PATH
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    I did this as I intend to install other Oracle databases, e.g. 11gR2, on this box later so I didn't want to put the above in .bashrc.
    Having done the above you should be able to log into the database using sqlplus and the XE setup is complete.
    The upgrade of Apex 2.2 to Apex 3.2.1 was fairly painless so I won't go into much detail about it - just follow the instructions provided by Oracle.
    The only issue I had was right at the end of the process and is documented and answered in [this thread|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=958611&tstart=0].
    That's it - I hope somebody will find this useful.

    On Oracle Metalink site, there are many documents which says that Oracle 32 bit software works on 32 bits OS and 64 bits software works on 64 bits OS. Official support is only in those combination....
    So there is no good way to help you in your case-XE is 32 bit application with hard codded compiled libraries which most of them would not work on 64 bit OS.
    Sorry

    Hope this helps

  • How to insert/update Date field in Oracle with java code

    Dear All
    I have to insert/update a date column while creating a new item, but the problem is i am able to insert/update only date but i need both date and time along with AM/PM.
    By using these 3 lines i am able to insert/update only date.
    java.util.Date date = new java.util.Date();
    long dateLong = date.getTime();
    stmtPrep.setDate(33, new java.sql.Date(dateLong));
    Below code retrives the date exactly what i need but unable to pass in the statement:
    DateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat("dd-MM-yyyy HH:mm:ss a");
    java.util.Date d = (Date) new java.util.Date();
    String stringdate = formatter.format(d);
    String tmpdate = dateFormat();
    stmtPrep.setString(33, tmpdate); -- I tried with setObject as well but same error coming.
    Error is:
    ORA-01830: date format picture ends before converting entire input string
    Can u guide me how to get full date time with AM/PM?

If you want something which matches an SQL TIMESTAMP colum (which includes both date and time components) then you should use a java.sql.Timestamp object.

  • How to update date field in oracle using jdbc

    Hi all,
    In my database i have a column LAST_UPDATED_DTTM which is used to store last updated date . when i try to update using the following query stmt
    update MD_TABLE set LAST_UPDATED_DTTM= + " new java.sql.Date(c.getTime().getTime()) where PROD_ID=" + msdn ;
    ' c ' is instance of Calendar Class as below
    Calendar c=Calendar.getInstance()
    it gives the following error
    ORA009:Expected date got number
    can anybody please help with this?
    Thank you

    can't i do that without prepare statement?If you insist on stuffing that String, then format it in some convenient String format using SimpleDateFormat and call the TO_DATE function in Oracle, so that the database understands your Date too.
