Capturing OIM User Attribute Properties in OIM Export

I spent a significant amount of time going through the UI and creating UDFs and tweaking my existing and UDF fields to make sure specific ones are hidden and others are shown. I then used the deployment manager to export the User Metadata.
Upon import of my metadata, I found the following behavior
- UDFs were added (plus!)
- OIM User Field attribute properties were unchanged (negative!)
In other words, all the attributes I hid in my old environment are still showing up in my new environment. Does anyone know how I capture these properties in an export file?

You can try using MDS to see if it helps, but there is are some acknowledged or apparent bugs in OIM 11.1.1.5 on user field export / import.
1) The visible property does not import correctly and UDFs (bug 13861473 - not fixed at present)
2) Changed default values of out-of-the-box user fields in a configuration XML do not import (bug pending)
3) LOV queries in UDFs do not import correctly (fixed in 11.1.1.5.2)
I would be interested to know if MDS import does resolve such errors.

    === ODM Solution / Action Plan ===
    1. Use the following query to find fields with "plain text" values:
    select svr.svr_name, spd.spd_field_name, svp.svp_key, svp_field_value
    from svp
    inner join spd on spd.spd_key = svp.spd_key

    2. Set these plain text values to null after making backup of table.
    *(kashyap:: Which fields values we have to change)*
    3. Edit the Directory Server to re-set values.
    *(kashyap:: could you please explain this)*
    Expected error at this stage:
    -- no "System Error call admin...", but that makes sense since the values in question pertained directly to the Directory Server --

  • OIM User Groups - Export and Import

    Hi,
    I am looking for ideas for OIM User's groups to be exported from one environment to another environment.
    I am using the following logic, but it is too slow. Any suggestions are welcome.
    1. Export the User's groups from Source Environment - Add it to the CSV file with the following format:
    User,Group_Name
    2. Import the User's group by reading the CSV file - one user and one group at a time.
    I think this approach is slow. Is it possible to read all the users from Groups - then add users into groups?
    Will it be faster?

    Hi Suren,
    Thanks for the note. I tested this (Evaluating rules using updateUser()).... It looks like it is working in my case.
    Actually, I am already using updateUser() to update the password using below code piece. It looks like it added groups at that time.
    String[] filteredColumnsSet ={"Users.Key","Users.Row Version"};
    Hashtable mhSearchCriteria = new Hashtable();
    mhSearchCriteria.put("Users.User ID", Users_User_ID);
    tcResultSet moResultSet = uo.findUsersFiltered(mhSearchCriteria, filteredColumnsSet);
    HashMap userAttributeSet = new HashMap();
    userAttributeSet.put("Users.Password", Users_Password);
    uo.updateUser(moResultSet, userAttributeSet);
    I will few more checks and let you know.
    Thanks for the note once again.

  • OIM 10g: Best practice for updating OIM user status from target recon?

    We have a requirement, where we need to trigger one or more updates to the OIM user record (including status) based on values pulled in from a target resource recon from an LDAP. For example, if an LDAP attribute "disable-flag=123456" then we want to disable the OIM user. Other LDAP attributes may trigger other OIM user attribute changes.
    I think I need to write a custom adapter to handle "recon insert received" and "recon update received" events from the target recon, but wanted to check with the community to see if this was the right approach. Would post-insert/post-update event handlers be a better choice?

    Thanks Nishith. That's along the lines of what I was thinking. The only issue in my case is that I might need to update additional custom attributes on the OIM User in addition to enable/disable. Because of that requirement, my thought was to call the API directly from my task adapter to do the attribute updates in addition to the enable/disable. Does this seem like a sound approach?

  • AD Group Change, Can this be made User self requestable in oim?

    Hi,
    We have a typical requirement where in end user will be requesting for a group change in AD, on Approval he is made member of the group he requested.Can any one suggest how this can be achievable. Any pointers on this is highly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi all,
    I had this same requirement (Approval process for AD group assignment). So, I have implemented the process you have defined. It is working fine except one problem.
    When I add the first OIM group(group A) to OIM user, it will fire an approval process(using Access policy) and after the approver approve it, RO ("AD Group Resource") will be granted to the user. Also, ad information will be updated through my custom code.
    But, if I then try to add another OIM group(group B) to the same OIM user, OIM will just assign OIM group to this OIM User. other than that, OIM will not do anything. No approval process will be fired.
    (Note: There is no error in the implementation. i.e. if I try to do this in the other way around, i.e. first add the group B and then add the group A, same result. Information regarding assignment of group B will be updated on AD and RO will be granted. But, assignment of group A would not do anything)
    Please help me regarding this issue.
    Regards,
    Chaturanga

  • Reconciliation: Manually link not matched accounts to OIM users

    Hi all,
    Is it possible to manually link a reconciled account to a OIM user?
    When reconciliation process is finished, in the reconciliation manager there are a few accounts that are not matched (to OIM users). This is beacuse they are "service accounts" or resource "administrative accounts", and the user ID of the reconciled account is not equal to any existing OIM user (xellerate users).
    In that case, we want to manually link those accounts to an administrator (OIM users). So, when listing the resource profile of that user, those accounts are showed as provisioned.
    By now, we are trying to achieve that, only that, not any service account behaviour (that will be the next goal).
    Regards.
    Edited by: user643044 on Feb 3, 2009 9:12 AM

    Thank you.
    We have solved it in the following way:
    1.- RO: create a "dummy" recon field.
    2.- Recon Connector (java code): create a field (uid_to_map), but not added to the hashmap. So, this field is added to the reconciliation event as "unprocessed".
    3.- Create a Recon Rule, to map OIM "User Id" -> RO "dummy"
    4.- Perform reconciliation.
    5.- Edit the reconciliation event. Edit the unprocessed field "uid_to_map", linking it with "dummy" recon field, and introducing the OIM user ID of the OIM user we want to link to.
    6.- Re-apply the matching rule.
    So, the account is linked to the user.
    Maybe it could help somebody who needs the same functionality.

  • User Attributes: how to reorder the categories

    Hi,
    I would like to reorder the user attribute categories in OIM 11.1.1.5 (for instance, I would like that the category “Other User Information” stands before “Account settings” when I create a new user)
    Does anybody know where and how it can be done? (Any idea, even if it implies tweaking the database would be welcome).
    Thank you in advance

    I succeeded to move a system attribute to other category, using the Java API. The interface is oracle.iam.configservice.api.ConfigManager
    The code example I put here
    http://idmclub.wikidot.com/configservice-service
    See Manage categories/Update section. Note the service described on the age (ConfigService) is just EJB remote API to the ConfigManager local service.

  • OIM 11g: UDF disappears from User Attributes page

    Hi,
    I was modifying a user defined attribute using the 11.1.1.3 User Attributes configuration page. All I did was change its category to move it to another section of the user profile page. The last remaining field in the category 'disappeared'. It just went from the list of fields in the category. The field still exists on the USR object and still contains all the values. But it's gone from the UI.
    I exported the /file/User.xml from MDS and sure enough the missing attribute is not present in the User.xml file. It is there for the mapping to the back end column, and in another element. But the element that describes the field proper is not there. I've since added the attribute element back in manually and re-imported the metadata using the weblogic environment manager, but the field still does not appear.
    So, my question is does anybody know where else OIM stores the attribute details? Is it in the DB somewhere and merely mirrored in the MDS? What do I need to do to restore the field? (I can't add it in because it says it already exists.)
    Thanks

    PeachEye,
    I was unable to see the UDF's I had created on the user form until I set up a policy for them. Please check the policy around the UDF's.
    I am hoping this can help you.
    From Oracle documentation:
    User's Guide for Oracle Identity Manager
    11g Release 1 (11.1.1)
    E14316-03
    User-defined fields (UDFs) can be added by creating a policy and
    adding attributes in the self service user management
    administration policy in Oracle Identity Administration. To add
    the User defined attributes for view or modification under the
    Attributes tab, these UDFs need to be added to the modify user
    data set for self-service. Also, a custom policy needs to be created
    under self service user management to grant permission to view
    and/or modify these attributes.
    For details on authorization policies, refer "Creating and Managing
    Authorization Policies" on page 15-2.

  • Importing User attributes from OIM 9101 to 11g

    hi all,
    I need to import/create all the User attributes(UDFs) present in the OIM 9101 version to OIM 11g. Is there any way this can be achieved using deployment manager? Looking to avoid creating all of them manually again,as that would be a time consuming/error prone task.
    Looking forward to your replies.
    Thanks,
    Anuj.

    Hi,
    I think, you better create it manually in OIM11g and higher environments. The UDF import in 11g is unstable..some times it works..and some times it disappears..and when you try to create UDF after import, It will make your life hell.
    I really had very bad experience with OIM 11g UDF export/import.

  • OIM Email Notification issue with custom E-mail user attribute

    Hi All,
    We have a requirement where we need to send e-mail notification programmatically after a OIM account is created for the user through trusted reconciliation. Post process event handler is being used for this. We have created our own Custom Notification Event, created new Notification Template of the type Custom Notification Event.
    For storing e-mail address for every OIM user we are using custom attribute "Email Home". Now the problem is NotificationService is by default picking e-mail address from OTB attribute "Email". Is there a simple way to pick the E-mail address from custom attribute? Below is sample code that we are working on. Any ideas on this would be very helpful.
    NotificationService notService = Platform.getService(NotificationService.class);
    NotificationEvent event = new NotificationEvent();
    String[] receiverUserIds= {"<<*Comma separated list of OIM USER IDs to whom notification is to be sent*>>" }; sets the email address in the OTB "Email" attribute as receivers
    LOGGER.info("Receiver User ID set");
    event.setUserIds(receiverUserIds);
    event.setTemplateName(poTemplateName);
    event.setSender("<<*OIM User ID of sender*>>"); /// sets the email address in the OTB "Email" attribute as sender
    HashMap<String, Object> templateParams = new HashMap<String, Object>();
    templateParams.put("usr_login",poUserId);
    LOGGER.info("template Param set" templateParams);+
    event.setParams(templateParams);
    notService.notify(event);
    Thanks

    Hi,
    any updates on this issue?
    is there any possibility to resend the old notifications manually?
    Thanks,

  • Error OIM when open User Attributes

    Hi All
    I am get an error when opening User Attributes button on Configuration --> User Configuration --> Action --> User Attributes
    error form log OIM = <Error> <oracle.iam.configservice.impl> <IAM-3020003> <The attribute null does not exist!>
    anyone could help me??

    I just got through this one.
    In my case, the file "/file/User.xml" in the MDS repository needed to be fixed.
    One part of this file describes categories' attributes order :
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8'?>
    <entity-definition xmlns="http://www.oracle.com/schema/oim/entity">
    <metadata-attachment xmlns="">
    <metadata>
    <name>1</name>
    <value>MyAttr1</value>
    <category>categories.MyCategory</category>
    </metadata>
    <metadata>
    <name>3</name>
    <value>MyAttr2</value>
    <category>categories.MyCategory</category>
    </metadata>
    </metadata-attachment>
    </entity-definition>When opening User Attributes configuration, OIM processes each categories to sort its attributes.
    Here, we get :
    Category : MyCategory
    1 - MyAttr1
    2 -
    3 - MyAttr2Notice the gap in the order sequence ? That is the cause of your issue.
    To fix it, edit the file "/file/User.xml" so that there is no gap in the category's attibutes order.
    In our hereabove example, we simply need to replace
    <metadata>
    <name>3</name>
    <value>MyAttr2</value>
    <category>categories.MyCategory</category>
    </metadata>by
    <metadata>
    <name>2</name>
    <value>MyAttr2</value>
    <category>categories.MyCategory</category>
    </metadata>When this is done, import the fixed "/file/User.xml" in MDS and restart OIM.
    Here is a query tha can help you to identify where the problem is :
    select cn.comp_localname, cn.comp_value, cv.comp_localname, cv.comp_value, cc.comp_localname, cc.comp_value
    from mds_paths p1
    left outer join mds_components c1 on c1.comp_partition_id=p1.path_partition_id and c1.comp_contentid=p1.path_contentid
    left outer join mds_components cn on cn.comp_partition_id=p1.path_partition_id and cn.comp_contentid=p1.path_contentid and cn.comp_seq = c1.comp_seq+1
    left outer join mds_components cv on cv.comp_partition_id=p1.path_partition_id and cv.comp_contentid=p1.path_contentid and cv.comp_seq = c1.comp_seq+2
    left outer join mds_components cc on cc.comp_partition_id=p1.path_partition_id and cc.comp_contentid=p1.path_contentid and cc.comp_seq = c1.comp_seq+3
    where p1.path_fullname='/file/User.xml' and p1.path_high_cn is null
    and c1.comp_localname='metadata' and c1.comp_level=2
    and cc.comp_value like 'categories.%' and cc.comp_value != 'categories.order'
    order by cc.comp_value,TO_NUMBER(cn.comp_value);

  • Updating AD Attributes via OIM user forms

    Hi,
    I have configured an AD connector. Firstly, I did a trusted recon to create the OIM. Next, I did a user recon to link the AD user to the OIM user. After that I have configured to pre-populate to show the AD attributes onto the OIM user form.
    Now, what I want to do is to update the AD attributes (eg. Mobile) in the OIM web interface, and has it reflect back to AD.
    Appreciate a detail description as I am very new to OIM.
    Cheers, SK

    You may want to try this:
    a. Add an entry in Lookup.USR_PROCESS_TRIGGERS
    b. Add a Process Form field and a Process task in each Process where you want to push the value.
    The task should have a name "<UDF label> Updated"
    c. Create another one called "Change <UDF label>"
    d. Make the tasks conditional, "allow multiple instances"
    e. Wire the "Change <UDF label>" to copy values from the user profile to the process form
    f. Wire the "<UDF Label> Updated" to the connector adapter.
