Capturing value attribute from command_link

Hi
I have a command_link with no id attribute but a value attribute set ... as below:
<h:command_link value="xxxx" actionListener="yyy"... />
When the link is selected the yyy method is being called but how do I get the xxxx (of value attribute)...?
Thanks
Kishore

Adam,
That does not work...
Here is my command_link
          <h:command_link id="LastNameLink" actionListener="#{ContactGenericList.editContact}" value="test" styleClass="navControlLink">
          <h:output_text styleClass="navControlLink" value="#{conIdx.lastName}"/>
     </h:command_link>
I used value=test and in editContact method, I did
String idVal = (String)((UICommand) event.getSource()).getValue();
and it ALWAYS shows up as null.
Please help
thanks

  • Value attribute of command_link

    Hi,
    Hope someone can help me out. When you specify a value for the value attribute of the command_link tag does this value ever get sent to the user's browser or does it stay server side in a table referenced to that specific user?
    Sorry if this is a strange question!
    Barney

    My best understand is that.
    1)The server side just collects all UIComponent info and encryt form by form. All info will return to server when you submit. I just guess from the fact that browser always send back the old message back to server, even you server code already changed.
    2) event and listener is invoked when data submited to Server.
    3) Value attribute donot works. you should put <f:paramter name="" value=""> or <f:attribute name="" value=""> inside the command_link tag.

  • How to retrieve null-valued attributes from a LDAP server?

    (I posted this in the ES board but then thought this is more of a programmer's question, sorry for the duplication).
    I am using JNDI api to do search operations on a Java Directory Server( part of SunOne).
    However, I found all the attributes that do not have values are automatically filtered out from the search result.
    NamingEnumeration answer = ctx.search(ctxName, filterExpr, cons);
                   while(answer.hasMore()){
                        SearchResult sr = (SearchResult)answer.next();
                        Attributes attrs = sr.getAttributes();
                        for(NamingEnumeration ne = attrs.getIDs();ne.hasMore();){
                             System.out.println("ids:"+ne.next());
                        System.out.println("-------------------------------------------------------");
                       for (NamingEnumeration ae = sr.getAttributes().getAll(); ae.hasMore();) {
                           Attribute attr = (Attribute)ae.next();
                           System.out.println("attrName:"+attr.getID());
                           //System.out.println("attribute: " + attr.getID());
                           NamingEnumeration e = attr.getAll();
                           while(e.hasMore()){
                                 System.out.println("  attrVal:"+e.next());
                       }Is there anything I did wrong here?
    Here are a couple of things I noticed,
    1. in a Softerra LDAP browser, those no-valued attributes are not present either. But in JXplorer, I can see the full list that includes the attributes that do not have a value.
    2. I had Schema disabled in the server console.
    Thank you in advance.

    There are only two ways to read data from Directory Server:
    1. a. just fetch the entry
    b. display the content
    2. a. fetch the entry
    b. parse the entry and figure what object classes it is of
    c. lookup each object class definition in the schema and retrieve the attribute list
    d. combine the attributes of the entry with all the "possible" attributes of its object classe(s)
    e. display the content
    Here's for an easy example we can relate to:
    I have the following entry in my DS
      cn=the_duuuuuude,dc=forum,dc=sun,dc=com
      objectClass: person
      cn: the_duuuuuude
      sn: arnaudIf you use method 1, you will get just what is stored in the db. That is:
      cn=the_duuuuuude,dc=forum,dc=sun,dc=com
      objectClass: person
      cn: the_duuuuuude
      sn: arnaudif you use method 2, you will get:
      cn=the_duuuuuude,dc=forum,dc=sun,dc=com
      objectClass: person
      cn: the_duuuuuude
      sn: arnaud
      description:

It's not that they have a 'null' value. They're just not there. It doesn't stop you from looking up the schema.
    Optimally, in your client, you would fetch the whole server schema and cache it so you have to do the extra round trip for every entry you process.
    The difference you observe with various LDAP browsers might simply be that one uses method 1 and the other method 2.
    Hope this helps wrap your mind around this.

  • Storing multi-valued attributes from IDM

    I can't find anything in the docs about storing multivalued attributes in an LDAP resource. Can this be done?

    The following code enables the conversion of a single attribute with delimited data to a structured data form. This is very useful in advanced SAP IDM Driver customization.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><policy>
    <rule>
    <description>Convert Parameter from string to structured attribute.</description>
    <conditions>
    <and>
    <if-op-attr name="PARAMETER" op="available"/>
    </and>
    </conditions>
    <actions>
    <do-reformat-op-attr name="PARAMETER">
    <arg-value type="structured">
    <arg-component name="PARVA">
    <token-xpath expression="substring-after($current-value,'|')"/>
    </arg-component>
    <arg-component name="PARID">
    <token-xpath expression="substring-before($current-value,'|')"/>
    </arg-component>

  • How to map single context value attribute to multiple value attributes?

    Hello,
    is there any way to map a single value attribute
    from view's context into several value attributes
    in controller's context?
    The business context of what I want to achieve
    is the following: I have a view which can be called
    in two modes: read only (RO) and read-write (RW).
    The input parameters to the view are the same for
    both modes, however when in RO mode, the view calls
    a different set of web services than when called
    in RW mode. Before calling each of the web services
    I need to populate their context value attributes
    with appropriate input values.
    I know I can do it in Java code, but is it possible
    to do it without any programming (doing it in the
    source code is prone to errors)?
    Any help highly appreciated.
    Greetings,
    Tomek.

    Hi Kishore,
    than you very much for your kind help.
    I have already created a value attribute of type
    boolean and mapped it into the read-only property
    of the UI elements. This however does not solve all
    of the problems... I will describe it with an
    example:
    Let's say the form I want to implement will be
    used to: create (read-write mode), update (read-
    write mode) or show (read-only mode) customer's
    data. The customer's data is complex (lots of
    data, including tree structures).
    The problem is that:
    - when the form is called in read-only mode,
      it should populate its fields with values
      provided by the getCustomerData web service,
    - when the form is called to create a new
      customer (in read-write) mode, it should
      not use the getCustomerData web service.
      Instead it should map the input values
      entered by the user into input parameters
      of the createNewCustomer web service,
    - when the form is called to update customer's
      data, it should first display values returned
      by the getCustomerData web service, and then
      it should map the modified values entered by
      the user into input parameters of the
      updateCustomer web service,
    In all the above cases I must map my view's
    context data to different controller's context
    elements. Doing it directly in the source code
    is not a nice solution. Is there any other
    way to achieve this?
    Calling a form in different modes in not an
    unusual thing, so I was hoping that maybe
    there are any built-in mechanisms that would
    solve the obove problem...
    Greetings,
    Tomek.

  • How does IDP handle multi-value attributes in directory?

    I have a directory referenced by the IDP where the mail attribute is multi-value. Assertions being received by the SP are indicating that the mail attribute is null or empty. How does the Oracle IDP handle multi-value attributes from a directory? Is there a way to select the first entry in an array of multi-values?

    On the IdP side, passing of multi-valued attributes is supported. Read this section:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10773_01/doc/oim.1014/b25355/configuring.htm#BCGCGFCJ
    Snippet (under 'Delimited Data'):
    "In addition to supporting and passing multi-valued attributes, Oracle Identity Federation can also support delimited data to provide multiple values for assertion attributes ......"
    This information is also available on the OIF screen for 'Add Assertion Profile'.
    On the SP side, mapping a multi-valued assertion attribute to a local user attribute is NOT supported. Read this section:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10773_01/doc/oim.1014/b25355/configuring.htm#BCGGEAEA
    Snippet (under Submit/Reset button):
    "Note: Mapping an assertion attribute containing multiple values to a local user is not supported."
    So, basically, there is no way to send only the first value of an LDAP attribute.

  • Picklist -- display and value attribute

    Is there a way to get and store both display and value attributes from the picklist? I would like to store the display attribute and the value attribute of the selected item from the picklist. It seems like it only returns one attribute. Thanks!

    Get an instance of messagechoice...
    there are two methods.
    setListValueAttribute("ViewAttributeName");
    setListDisplayAttribute("ViewAttributeName");
    you can get both values...

    you can use http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23104_01/download_readme_ps4/download_readme_ps4.htm#BABDABDA and http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/install.1111/e12002/install.htm#CIHGAEFI as a staring point. This gives you pointers to all software needed and steps to follow.

  • Values not passing from form to context attributes (value attributes)

    Hi Experts,
    I have bound the properties of theadobe interactive form (WD-Java) to the context attributes but the values are not passing to the value attributes at runtime.

    Context
       GetData - ModelNode mapped to controller context (DataSource)
             Attribute1 - Value Attribute (Form Field)
    Is it allright to have the Data Source as a ModelNode (mapped to the controller context node) and then have Value Attributes under the ModelNode which are then bound to the adobe form input fields.
    I know its frustrating to advise on such questions without looking at the code actually. But I would definitely need your support.
    If possible could you mail me a project of yours where you have the form being PREFILLED with some values coming from a RFC FM and then the same form gets posted to SAP though another RFC FM.
    Thanks,
    [email protected]
    OK. When I create a Fresh Adobe Interactive Form application, it works fine.
    The problem Im facing is in the case, when Im using an existing PDF file created in the ABAP stack (TCode SFP). I am importing this PDF file into the WebDynpro Java Application and then binding the fields. So in this case the context binding does not work.
    You guyz are right, I need to check if there is any other script which exists. But still what are views after this update?

  • Af:inputListOfValues: updating all attributes from 'List return values'

    Hi all,
    In my ViewObject, I have one LOV enabled Transient attribute (in order to display content meaningfull for the end user)
    In the List return values, I have one extra return value, which updates the real foreign key attribute
    When user launches LOV popup and chooses one of the vaules, both of my attributes from the List return values are updates properly
    However, when the user entered value directly (so, does not launch LOV popup), then the real foreign key attribute has not been set
    What to do in order to set foreign key attribute in both cases ?
    Maybe with one valueChangeListener and autoSubmit enabled ?
    Any idea ?
    P.S. Off topic : Seems thas password finder for my OTN account does not work, is there any way to "unite" my posts from my old account with this new one ?
    Edited by: user11208293 on May 28, 2009 8:49 AM

    Ok. It seems that no solution for this problem, so end user cannot directly enter the value in the af:inputListOfValues (into transient View attrbibute), since there no way to update the real foreign key value. The only option is to enable LOV not for transient, meaningfull attribute, but for f.k. attribute (which does not mean nothing for end user)
    What you doing in this situation ?
    Should I discard af:inputListOfValues ?
    P.S. just to note : LOV Autocompletion, as described in the Steve Muench atricle :
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/09-jan/o19frame.html
    works only if user presses Tab button (after entering value in the LOV filed).
    It does not work if user directly enter into LOV field, and then press some command button by the mouse

    The above JSTL shows up the links fine in a single row. But when a link is selected and the actionlistener is called, I see that the value parameter is null. Is this because the command_link is in a TABLE (i think I read somewhere that this is a known bug... )
    I do
    value = (String)((UICommand) event.getSource()).getValue();
    to get the value...
    I tried several ways.. all I need is a way to distinguish the links and know which link has been selected.
    Any suggestions please....

    The value is null when the ActionEvent listener fires, because the myLink variable is only available during processing of the JSP page as part of the Render Response phase, not in the request triggered by clicking on the generated link.
    There's simply no way to get this to work using JSTL's <c:forEach> action, and it's not because we didn't try. A custom renderer for the UIData component that renders a single component as a table with one row with multiple columns (or whatever you need) is the only solution I can think of.

  • How to read  data from a value attribute

    I  have a context node which has some value attributes.the value to these attributes have been set in their setter/getter methods . How do i read data in the do_prepare_output ,because this attribute does not get recognised when i do get_property_as_string( iv_attr_name = 'XYZ' ). Please let me know how this can be done .

    Hi Shakuntala,
    Value attributes are only for display purpose.
    Check where is the value for the Value Attribute you are trying to read getting stored in SET method.
    For example, Employee Responsible has a value attribute RESPONSIBLE_NAME_UI on the screen
    but in turn the value gets stored in the 'RESPONSIBLE_NAME' and 'RESPONSIBLE_TEXT'.
    You can get these fields in SET method.
    Now when you want to read, use the logic available in GET method for the value attribute like this
      value = me->get_responsible_text( attribute_path = '//TRADE/RESPONSIBLE_TEXT' ).
      IF value IS INITIAL.
        value = me->get_responsible_name( attribute_path = '//TRADE/RESPONSIBLE_NAME' ).
      ENDIF.
