Carbon Impact Reduction Project

Hi All
I am working on SAPu2019s Carbon Management tool called, Carbon Impact. I am configuring or adding value for reduction project in CI. But its not showing proper results.
Pls let me know if there is a demo or any relevant document on the same.

Hello,
Project Profile shows the behavior of the project. It contains basic settings related to Organization structure, Planning, Settlement, and various profiles which contains different settings.
so this is very important and critical field in Project. So you have to check setting in that profile and compare to correct one.
Thanks

  • Difference between SAP Carbon Impact and SAP EHS - Environment Compliance

I am confused between the functionality offered by SAP Carbon Impact and how different it is from SAP EHS Management - Environment Compliance. I understand that both of them are different technical products from SAP with Carbon Impact being an on-demand solution which was acquired from Clear Standards earlier this year.
However they seem to have an overlap in their functionality. Even the websites seem to talk about addressing similar issues.
[SAP EHS Management - Environment Complaince|http://www12.sap.com/solutions/business-suite/erp/corporate_services/ehs/features-functions/environmental-compliance-software/index.epx]
    [SAP Carbon Impact|http://www12.sap.com/solutions/sustainability/offerings/carbon-impact/index.epx]
Has anyone used both the solutions and can tell what the difference is between the two in terms of their business functionality?

Hi Girish. While these two solutions both help manage environmental emissions, the specific pain points each address are distinctly different. Hopefully I can help explain. <p>
Environmental Compliance (EC) is a solution designed to help manage the heavy regulatory burdens associated with emission related compliance. EC helps you measure and monitor your direct emissions irrespective of medium (i.e. air, water, or solid waste) and manage these emissions against regulatory requirements. As an example, Title V air permits are typically hundreds of pages long and filled with numerous requirements and conditions. In order to meet the demands of the permit, thousands of tasks must be managed throughout the plantu2014be it calibrating a piece of machinery or measuring the sulfur content of fuel oil. EC provides a framework to break the permit down into its respective pieces and establish workflows to ensure compliance by managing the required tasks against the associated emissions. You can also set emission limit alerts in EC to trigger specified actions to help you proactively address your emissions as opposed to a more reactive approach taken after a permit requirement has been broken. EC also helps with the regulatory reporting of your emissions and compliance efforts by enabling you to create templatized versions of commonly required reportsu2014all available at the push of a button, or they can even be automated. <p>
Carbon Impact (CI) also helps you measure and monitor your emissions, but the real focus of this solution is on gathering enterprise-wide greenhouse gas emissions across geographies and scopes. For example, CI allows you to capture your direct emissions (Scope 1), your electricity emissions (Scope 2), and your indirect emissions (Scope 3). Scope 3 emissions are also sometimes referred to as supply chain emissions (both upstream and downstream) and can be the most difficult emissions category to capture when creating your enterpriseu2019s carbon inventory. For example, letu2019s say you own a steel mill. The ore that comes into your plant has an associated upstream greenhouse gas emission arising from the mining process and when you ship your final product there are emissions associated with the transport of your product to your customer. Beyond the plant, employee travel is another type of Scope 3 emission. If your company already runs SAP, you will benefit from CIu2019s integration into our Suite that allows you to quickly access your different sources of emissionsu2014be they Scope 1, 2, or 3. One of the advantages of CIu2019s on demand delivery model is that SAP maintains updated emission factors for various materials and activities from various authoritative sources including the EPA and GHG Protocol; with this prepackaged content you no longer need to do the work of tracking down the correct emission factor and making sure it is up to date. In addition to calculating your enterprise carbon footprint, CI also gives you the tools to evaluate different abatement projects to reduce your overall environmental impact. CI also provides reporting capabilities to help with the voluntary reporting processes associated with, for example, the Global Reporting Initiative or the Carbon Disclosure Project.<p>
Often times a helpful way to understand the difference between the two solutions is to think about how they work together. If you implemented both of them, EC would be the solution that would help you collect direct emissions data and manage the associated regulatory requirements. The EC emission data would then feed into Carbon Impact to represent your direct emissions. Carbon Impact would then gather your remaining emissions as described above to give you your entire emission footprint and then help identify the best way to reduce it.

  • SAP Carbon Impact Testing Document

    Hi,
I am currently working on SAP Carbon Impact. I am just preparing the testing documents for SAP carbon impact report. I am confused about the contents of the testing document. What should be testing criteria for a SAP cabon impact report and what will be there in the testing document. I also want to know about the test cases that can be used to test the report. please guide me through the process. If you have any document regarding this ....Please forward me.

    Vikash:
I'm sorry, but your question on testing is very general.  And asking to have help documents forwarded to you is, well, unhelpful.
A general "testing" approach is to establish customer metrics first.  Do you want to test the validity of data submitted or collected? In other words, are you asking about testing for audit purpose, or are you asking about repeatable, scientific testing to verify carbon emissions from a specific business?

  • Moving I photo libraries without impacting IMovie projects

I Use IMovie to create slide shows. However no I want to move my IPhoto library to a new location. After doing this all pictures in IMovie projects were gone. Any Idea? is there a difference in the result between moving and copying?

What verion of iPhoto and system are you running?
Did you confirmed that the library working correctly and that the videos play as expected before deleting the library from your boot drive?
How is the external hard drive formatted?  It must be OS X Extended (journaled) with ownership set to be ignored:
Then point iMovie to the new iPhoto in its new location.

  • Repeated problems - is there any way of saving my projects myself?

I'm sorry to keep filling up the forum with questions, but the more I try moving forward, the more problems I encounter. I am now finding that even simple edits of my work frequently result in the programme crashing, meaning that whatever I have done up until that point is destroyed.
I have just had iMovie crash and destroy a simply enormous amount of work that I had agonised over for an extremely long time; 100s, perhaps 1000s, of tiny clips edited down to precise fractions of a second, which was looking extremely good and had taken countless hours to get done. But it was then destroyed in a single keystroke when I tried adjusting the speed of one clip. Since that disaster, I have tried building up what I did again... only to have the programme crash again... and again once more! It seems that adjusting the speed of clips is part of the problem.
I think another problem is that iMovie doesn't let you save your work - it simply does it for you - something which people seem to point out as an advantage. I don't see what the advantage of this is, since it means that when the inevitable crash occurs, you can't retrieve your work, because it "saves" the crashed version.
So anyway, is there anything I can do to avoid the programme crashing? Is there anything I can do to save the work I do myself? Perhaps I could go into iMovie projects in Finder after every few edits I make, and copy it to another folder - and then copy it back once the programme crashes? This ought to be unnecessary.
Can anyone give me an insight into what it is about the "speed up/slow down" function that causes such problems? And can we expect to see these problems addressed in an update any time soon?
I'm sorry if this message sounds ranty but, as I said, I have had over a month's worth of very hard and painstaking work brought to nought in an instant, and it's really hard to see how I am getting my money's worth out this machine if it can't handle simple commands.
Thank you very much in advance for any advice you can give me. When this programme works it's the most wonderful thing, and I get a lot of joy out of it. But as it is now, crashing frequently, it is a source of immense - and probably psychologically unhealthy! - frustration and stress.

    AppleMan1958 said:
If a crash causes a general problem that impacts all projects, it could be a corrupted preference file (plist file) for iMovie
The preference file is located in your user (Home) folder Library>Preferences and is named "com.apple.iMovie8.plist". Close iMovie then delete (trash) this file. When next opened, iMovie will create a new file with the default settings. You may need to change some settings to suit your own preference. To do this, go to the iMovie menu item iMovie>Preferences and make any changes under each of the 4 tabs.
As AppleMan indicated, iMovie crashes may in some circumstances cause the preference file to become corrupted, resulting in iMovie behaving unpredictably.
This link to an Apple article "iLife: Troubleshooting Basics" may be helpful (it includes the tip about removing the preference file):

  • Storing in projects vs. albums

    Hey!
I've been doing an internship for 7 months now and I've been taking pictures like crazy, I'm up to 4200 and counting.
Currently I'm storing all photos in a project called internship and each event (like roadtrips) are in separate albums.
Recently I noticed that aperture is getting kinda slow so I started thinking, could this be because of all 4200 photos being in the same project?
How are you supposed to organize your photos?
You can either do what I do today or you could switch places of projects and albums (so you have one album in the root and many projects), you could also use folders. Which way is preferred?
    Thanks
    Nicklas

    Good advice above.
    Ansman wrote:

Instead, let each road trip or perhaps one day's shoot, or morning shoot be an individual Project, aiming for that goal of (a) logical time-based organization and (b) no more than ~500 pix per project I have not personally tried to quantify the impact of Project size on performance.
"Internship" can be a folder with all the relevant projects in it.
Note that an Album is just a collection of pointers to Versions, so Albums can be created and discarded at will, changing nothing and taking up negligible space. Very powerful tool. Albums are often created by searching on Key Words, another very powerful organizing tool in the database of image files.
Recently I noticed that aperture is getting kinda slow...
Aperture is a very demanding application that can slow down for lots of reasons. Hard drives and RAM are the two main reasons that a workflow slows - and they interrelate. Setup changes, workflow changes and/or version changes can also be causative.
    HARD DRIVES
Hard drives slow as they fill so keep drives underfilled. No more than ~70% full is a good maximum guideline, but less full is faster. A hard drive 80% full performs more slowly than a 50% full hard drive. Even a hard drive used solely for backup should be not allowed to exceed ~85% full for stability reasons.
The Aperture Library should be on a fast underfilled internal drive. Reference Masters to external drives as needed to keep internal hard drives underfilled. Use Firewire 800 (thunderbolt on 2011 Macs) rather than USB for external drives when possible.
Back up originals on external drives prior to import into Aperture or any other images app. I cannot overstate how important that is, and various manuals, texts, etc. present workflows that skip that critical step. Also back up the Aperture Library using Aperture's Vaults, which are designed for that purpose.
    RAM
Your workflow may be running out of RAM and therefore "paging out" to disk. Page outs slow operation a lot and can lead to instability.
You can evaluate whether or not you have adequate RAM by looking at the Page Outs number under System Memory on the Activity Monitor app before starting a work session; recheck after working and if the page outs number (manual calculation of ending page outs number minus starting page outs number) increased significantly during operation your workflow is RAM-starved. Ignore the pie charts and other info in Activity Monitor.
If page outs increase significantly during operation you can add RAM or simply try to run Aperture by itself. Switching from 64-bit operation to 32-bit operation will also make some additional RAM space available.
On my 2006 MBP with its max of 3 GB RAM I always did a restart prior to a heavy Aperture session to clear any memory leaks and make sure no other apps were open. Browsers in particular will often suck RAM Aperture would otherwise be using.
The problem with running a RAM-deficient workflow like I did is that along with slower operation, page outs can reduce overall stability - - and instability always seems to present at the worst times, like in the midst of processing a time-critical project. It does help a lot to keep a really really clean workflow.
If your test of page outs does show that you are paging to disk the speed of your drives and drives connectivity become even more important than normal.  The use of solid state drives (SSDs) frequently reduces the impact of inadequate RAM.
OS 10.7 does seem to utilize more RAM than OS 10.6 does, and that makes sense because over time evolving OSs and evolving apps take advantage of evolving hardware.
IMO all Aperture users who can should routinely bump RAM to at least 8 GB. Two good sources of third-party RAM (Apple overprices RAM) are Crucial and OWC http://eshop.macsales.com/.

  • Adding a new system to existing ChaRM Project

    Hi,
We have configured Charm in our landscape and we use Solution Manager 7.1 SP08.
    Requirements:
Add a new system to the existing ChaRM Project.
Edit the logical components for e.g. To replace current SID (QA1) with another SID (QA2)
Add items (Systems or Tasks)to the existing task list
We faced problems (duplicate record dumps), while configuring as per our requirements above. SAP suggested us to
Close the Project and create a new one to include a new system. [This is not feasible for us]
Close the current maintenance cycle and create a new one if you want to edit the logical systems or to add any task or system to the existing task list.
So we have the following questions
What is the impact on closing the current maintenance cycle? We have half of transports in released and half in locked status. What happens to the transports that are not yet released?
Will they automatically get released or
Will they not get impacted or
Will they get assigned to the new maintenance cycle automatically or
Do we need to do it manually or does it not matter
Since we are close to starting our ITC, how do we go about that? How will we bundle our transports for our ITC with different maintenance cycles holding transports
What is the impact on locking a maintenance cycle?
What is the impact on project team members on creating a new maintenance cycle?
How does the maintenance cycle get impacted if we refresh existing systems?
Have you faced a similar problem? Is there an alternate solution?
If we need to add a new development system to the Project do we need to close the current project or just add it to a new maintenance cycle?
    Reporting
How do we run a report for stats by Maintenance cycle
    --> System --> Transport released
--> System --> Transports created (not released)
How does reporting get impacted if we make the changes stated above

    Hi Nanada,
check the below blog,to adding - Add a new system to the existing ChaRM Project.

So we have the following questions
What is the impact on closing the current maintenance cycle? We have half of transports in released and half in locked status. - dont close the MC with out proper TR movement in PRD. it will make the system inconsistency. if it is released TR not able to unassigned from MC . this feature available from SP10. What happens to the transports that are not yet released?
Will they automatically get released or - no
Will they not get impacted or - make solman inconsistency
Will they get assigned to the new maintenance cycle automatically or- if not released from DEv, it needs to assign manually from one MC to other MC

Do we need to do it manually or does it not matter - yes, check the above link

  • Settlement in Customer Projects

    Dear all,
In our scenario, we have customer projects which are settled to Profitability segment. The client doesn't want to settle the projects periodically. The client wants to settle the project only onces when the project is over. In this case the project will hold cost till the last day.
Client intents to use RA only for information purpose and not for posting the RA value on the project. Hence clients decision seems genuine.
What are the impact of this decision? How often do we really have to settle the project in this situation?
What is the impact of not settling the project at all?
Request your opinion on this issue.
    Warm regards,
    Srinivas Potluri

    Hi Srini,
The business process as required by you is possible & i don't think there will be any impact. Project settlement can be made on completion of project iteself, n't periodically as your identifying cost / revenue externally.
RA can be used to identify calculated revenue / cost & n't to consider real posting into FI.
Few queries, i would like to ask on your  business scenarios. If the project settlemnt is after completion of project only, how project profitability is obtained from period to period. How is balance sheet reporting for the ongoing projects.
    Hope this will help you.

  • How to judge correct rap in impact test

    Hi,guys
I get a trouble during my impact test project.
I use PCI-4472 and one module hammer connect to channel 0 and one accelerometer connect to channel 1.
hammer as trigger of accelerometer to get impact response.
       My question is
       1) I need make sure the rap of hammer only once in each impact action. if yes, then record related response from accelerometer, if no, I need repeat impact action without record response. how can i check that?
       2) for this case, if I need average yet? ( I saw the SVXMPL_impact test(DAQmx).vi, it take some average computed for data, but for my application, since the impact only once each time, then if I can ignore the average function? I have few knowlegae about average theory.)
3)how much samples I should use?
    Thanks for any help
    Tim

    To 1)
How do you see a double rap?
I assume you take a look at the hammer signal and look for more than one peak. Well do the same in LabVIEW. Hint:
    Waveform Peak Detection VI
    Owning Palette: Waveform Monitoring VIs
    Requires: Full Development System
Finds the locations, amplitudes, and second derivatives of peaks
and valleys in Signal In. Wire data to the Signal
In input to determine the polymorphic instance to use or manually select the
    instance.
This VI is similar to the Peak Detector VI.
If you search the overall max or min with
    Waveform Min Max VI
Owning Palette: Analog Waveform VIs and
    Functions
    Requires: Base Package
Determines the maximum and minimum values and their associate time
    values for a waveform.
you can determine a useful relative threshold.
    To 3)
What is the lowest frequency you want to detect?  You should at least capture 1 period.  Together with pretrigger and windowing go for 2 periods
What is the highest frequency you expect? For impact choose your sample rate at least 10x better 100x times higher. (Some say choose the highest you can get to avoid phaseshifts due to the aliasing filter)
Both values will give you the number of samples.

  • Project photos in the trash

In the course of using iPhoto, I acquired duplicate photos. I spent time cleaning those out; however, the copies that I've moved to the trash were used in several projects. Now when I empty the trash, the projects get messed up: no pictures.
I've got about 4,000 pictures in the trash. Of those there are roughly 100 or so that are impacting the projects. Is there some automated way to determine which pictures should be "restore[d] to iPhoto Library"? And if I find the offending photos, then how can I check for duplicates in the library?
Ultimately, if I have 2 copies of a given photo where one is in the trash (and used in a project) and the second is in the library, I want to swap those photos so my projects remain intact.
    Thanks for any help.

    Jeff
iPhoto will never delete 4000 photos at a go. It will crash. SO no matter what you want you’re going to need to put them all back in the Library and delete them in increments of 100 or so.

  • Adobe's Open Screen Project. Opinions?

It seems like Adobe is trying to slowly shift towards Open Source, as its concurrents (i.e. MS) are adopting open standards. Adobe has now launched the "Open Screen Project":
The Open Screen Project, supported by Adobe and several "industry leaders" and announced today, is supposed to foster the creation of a "consistent runtime environment" that will "remove barriers for developers and designers as they publish content and applications across desktops and devices, including phones, mobile Internet devices, and set top boxes". The idea is that such a runtime environment will provide the best performance across a wide range of operating systems.
As part of the Open Screen Project, Adobe announced several changes in their policies towards Flash, "to open access to Adobe Flash technology":
        * Removing restrictions on use of the SWF and FLV/F4V specifications
        * Publishing the device porting layer APIs for Adobe Flash Player
        * Publishing the Adobe Flash Cast protocol and the AMF protocol for robust data services
        * Removing licensing fees - making next major releases of Adobe Flash Player and Adobe AIR for devices free
