I am absolutely disgusted by this; clearly a scam from HP to make more money by selling extra ink cartridges!!  I will make sure to never buy any products from the shoddy rip off merchants at HP ever again!!
    You should be ashamed!!

  • In the C309, How can I use just the regular black ink cartridge only?

    Hi
I just bought a HP C-309 a short time ago.  I bought a HP reg black cartridge XL quite quickly.  This thing is a sweet
machine, works perfectly, but is a terrible terrible ink hog.
Had I known, I would have gone for the Kodak which touts much lower ink costs.
I only use this thing for documents.  I do not want to keep putting color cartridges in.  They are all on low except for the black XL cartridge.  How can I set it up to use only this cartridge for black and white..and just leave the color ones on empty.
I will have to get rid of it if I have to keep feeding it this way.  The ink levels seem always low.  By the way, the help asks me for model number.  They want to know whether it is 309n or 309g.  I see no way to find out..no notations on machine or purchase documents.  HP, if  you need this info...make it easy for the consumer to FIND the info...gheesh!

    Hi   lyn1360
There are several circumstances when color ink may be used—primarily to improve print quality, and sometimes to improve printer reliability—even if the document appears to be only black text-and-graphics. Many HP printers utilize chemical interactions to improve the quality and permanence of plain paper black text-and-graphics by adding small amounts of color ink to certain black areas. Some dark images which look black to human eye may contain a combination of black and color inks. For black and white images and photos or grey black which we think as black, a blend of colors called "composite black" may be used to achieve significantly better image quality and smoother gray tones than can be accomplished with black inks alone. Some inkjet printers utilize pigmented black ink, which is incompatible with some inkjet photo paper. In this case, dark or black areas are made up of color inks.
For users who wish to print utilizing just black ink (despite the reduced print quality), many HP printers offer options. For example, a driver color setting (by selecting "print in grayscale with the black cartridge only" in printing preferences) specifies printing using only black ink. In addition, many IPH printers can operate in "reserve mode," which allows the user to continue to print with just the black cartridge when the color cartridge is removed or not installed. In HP IIC systems like your printer C309, all supplies are required to be installed in the printer for the printer to function.
To find the correct model number for your printer, you can just open the carriage access door and on the right side you can see the model number. For OJ Pro printers, we need to open the cartridge access door on the front left side to see the model number.

It seems like a problem with the Coherence cache configuration for your installation.
    Is your installation clustered?
Is the problem specific to this cartridge (i.e. do orders from other cartridges work well in this environment)?
Suggest you log a problem with Oracle Support and/or try the problem in a different environment.
    Regards,
    Brian.

  • Re: Not printing black ink after new ink cartridge installed (HP Officejet Pro (edited)

Well 1 to 2 years later I have the exact same problem described by the posters with my OfficeJet 4020.  My black printing started to deteriorate as the cartridge went empty, put in the same HP cartridges I have been buying at Costco since I bought the printer there 2 years ago, first new black cartridge printed poorly then just started to come out blank as described above.  Put in second new cartridge  Also ran all the cleaning and alignment tests and functions. no improvement and no malfunction found. While doing this I used up the three color cartridges which printed okay, it was just the black. Even went out and bought a third new cartridge from Staples to make sure the Costco ones weren't just bad.  This HP replaced a Canon that lasted for ages and it's a problem already.
Did anyone ever find a solution to the HP black cartridge blank printing problem?

What is the model of your printer - there is not an Officejet 4020 that I can find.  Is your model an Officejet 4620?  If so I suggest you call HP support regardless of warranty as described in the post here.  If you are in the US call 1-800-HPINVENt, elsewhere see the contact information here.

  • Envy 100 eAll-in-One D410a (US) doesn't work with cartridge HP300 (Europe)

    Hi all,
I bought a HP Envy 100 eAll-in-One (CN517A) D410A in 2011 when I was living in the US. I always used HP60 cartridges without any problems while in the US.
In 2013 I was relocated to Europe (Luxembourg), and recently my last supply of US-bought HP60 cartridges run out, so I went out to buy new ones. HP60 is not available where I live, so I bought HP300 which explicitly says on the box that it is suited for "HP ENVY ENVY100 D410a". However, when I put them in the printer I get a "The cartridges listed above are not intended for use in this printer as it is currently configured." error on the printer.
I tried the eight solutions as explained here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02436437&tmp_task=solveCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&la...
None worked. I put back in my old HP60 cartridges and did no longer get the error message and I can print (but poorly because these cartridges are almost empty).
Could it be that the HP300, by design, does not work with the US-built printer that I have even though the HP300 packaging box clearly says it should? Is there a way to make it work (firmware update?), or do I need to either buy HP60s from the US or get a new printer here in Europe?
Any clues or pointers to a possible solution would be greatly appreciated!
    Kind regards,
    Paul

I have HP Officejet 4500 series printer. When I repaled branch new HP 901 black ink cartridge, the aligment page came out without black, message text shown not detected. I went through all trouble shooting step to check the ink level, to clean the print head, ...but was frustrated. The B/W document won't print at all. Please advice. Many thanks.

What is the warranty ends date on the cartridge? (YYYY/MM/DD) If it's within warranty I'd advice contacting HP phone support...

  • The difference between the HP 61 and 61xl cartridges

I have seen it posted that the page yeild for the regular 61 is about 190 pages and the XL is about 480 pages. I am not sure how many I get with the XL ( I know it is a lot) but the regular never comes even a little close to getting 190 pages, it never has. I think that maybe I might get a page yeild of about 75 pages at most with the regular cartridge.  I have cleaned and made sure everything works ok but nothing helps. I believe that on draft settings I might get close to a page yeild of about 100 but not much more. Is there something I can do to get a better page yield with these cartridges? Please note I am printing out pages that are mostly thin (thinnest) black lines with some light grey filled boxes and one little color icon in the corner and this is primarily for the black ink cartridge as I really don't use that much color in the things I print.
    Bruce

There are a few things to consider for page yield:
Page yield will highly depend on what you are printing.  The gray background may use a lot of ink.
You said you had cleaned the printer.  Are you running the cleaning cycles from the front panel or toolbox?  Cleaning cycles use significant amounts of ink and are rarely needed.
Make sure the printer is always connected to a live outlet.  If the printer is turned off from an external switch (such as an outlet switch or power director) more ink will be used at startup.

  • HP Envy 5530 - Printer Cartridge Issues

I have had my HP Envy 5530 for about 6 months now.  It used its first set of cartridges (HP61) and was half way through the second set of cardtridges when an error appeared reading:
"The indicated cartridges are not compatible...."
I know for a fact that the second set of cartridges are brand new HP61 cartridges.  They worked for quite a while and then the error occurred.
Thinking that the second set of cartridges had a problem I purchased another set of brand new HP 61 cartridges.  Immediately the same error occurred.
I tried everything to get the printer to work to no avail.
Please help me out on this HP techs.

  • Calling the JSP cartridge directly

I am using OAS 4.0.8.1. I need to be able to call the jservlet cartridge directly, without the virtual path. That is, I want people to be able to type www.host.com and be presented with the jsp pages immediately.
It seems that I always have to use some virtual path (i.e. www.host.com/servlet) to call the jservlet cartridge. Isn't there a way to bypass this?
I know that this can be done by adding a META refresh tag to the wwwIndex.html file, but that solution is not sufficient for me.
    Thanks,
    Gauti.

Im not sure if i understand your problem,
but try adding a normal, static html file
(i.e. index.html) in the default roo directory of the webserver containing only a redirect to the JSP you want to display.

  • How do I use a protected cartridge in my other HP printer

I had an HP 6510 die on me so I picked up an HP 6520. They use the same ink cartridges, but when I ran out of the ink the new printer came with I discovered the old cartridges from my 6510 won't work because I must've had the protection setting on. Is there any way to use my old cartridges on my new printer? Not sure how I could prove that they're mine, but I'm hoping there is a solution so I don't have to waste the ink. Thanks guys

There is no such setting on these cartridges. However, HP changed the design of the 564/564XL Septmber 2010. If the 6520 is made after September 2010, it does not take the 564/564XL made before 9/2010. Check the date printed on the cartridge.

Help me! URGENT cannot find my printer model on hp website - how do i know which cartridge to order.

Depend on which country you are in btw, for the US this should be 61 black and 61 tricolor. For most of europe this will be 301 black and 301 tri color. So to be sure tell me from which country you are.

  • My printer hp deskjet 1510 showing cartridge or print head error. how can i solve this?

replaced the cartridge with hp 802 genuine cartridge, reinstalled the software, cleaned the cartrge head but problem not solved

    Hello Phillips1,
Deskjet F4400 printer is support only USB Connection.
You'll need to have the printer connected to computer using USB cable.
It is not a Network Printer.

  • HP Deskjet 1510 - Cartridge damaged or failed error

I had purchased HP Deskjet 1510 All in one inkjet printer in April 2014.
Since then I have not faced any problems but over the last one week there has been an intermittent problem with the printer declaring the Tri Color cartridge as being "damaged or failed".
    Error:
    "Ink Cartridge Failure
    TriColor
Cartridges listed above are damaged or have failed
Remove them and replace with new cartridges."
Now the issue here is that :
    1. The error is not persistent in the sense that sometimes the printer does not spit out this error and prints colors just fine. In fact I have a "test" printout printed by the hp diagnostic software which has printed the colors blue magenta yellow and black withot issues.
    2. The cartridge has not run out of ink. When there is no error, the ink level for the Color cartridge indicates an ink level of about 60%.
    3. There is no problem with the Black cartridge it prints just fine.
    4. I have cleaned the color cartridge twice as per the hp support instructions. After the first time the cartridge started working but not the second time. Also tried removing and restoring both cartridges.
Will HP replace the cartridge as it is still under warranty?
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • HP Deskjet 1510 Tri-color Ink Cartridge Error

I just bought a HP Deskjet 1510 back in August and I loaded the HP original ink cartridges that come with the purchase. For the first 5 print jobs it was working well, but somehow after a while my laptop and the printer itself just kept warning that there's low ink level in the cartridges (especially the tri-color one). I haven't even got to use the tri-color cartridge much as I've been printing in grayscale ever since I've used this printer.
I've tried taking the cartridge out and putting it back in again; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I thought it might be a contact issue so I cleaned those parts too but it didn't change anything.
It's getting extremely frustrating as I'll have to do this for god knows how many times for every single page I print or copy. This happens to the black cartridge too but 90% of the time it's the tri-color cartridge.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

Hello @ut32w , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I hope you had a great holiday!
I understand from reading your post that you are running into cartridge errors.  I'd like to help!
I would first suggest removing the ink cartridges, and performing a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend running through the steps listed in the document below:

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
