Cascadian parameter #2 shouldn't be enabled for selection until Parameter#1 is selected, but it is enabled.

Hi,
I created 2 Cascadian parameters
Parameter #1 is State
Parameter #2 is Customer and Customer depended from State.
Parameter # 1 is pointing to the dataset which created with
query, taken data from table. Parameter #2 is pointing on dataset created with SP.
SP is working with parameter #1.
In the report the dependency is working and I can see parameter #2 displays customers
based on selected States.
The problem is the both parameters enabled immediately, when I expect that parameter #2 will be disabled until parameter #1 is selected.
Could you please help to figure out how to resolve this issue?

According to your description, you create cascading parameter, when you select value from the drop-down list of the first parameter, the cascading parameter box display the value immediately.
Like DataPro2010 mentioned, you should check if you have specified the default values for the cascading parameter. In your scenario, if you specify default values for cascading parameter, corresponding values will display in cascading parameter box after
selecting values for the first parameter. This is decided by the function of default values.
To create cascading parameter, I would suggest you refer to this article:
Add Cascading Parameters to a Report (Report Builder and SSRS). If issue persists, please share report design for our analysis.

I'm struggling a bit with my first JSF application: at the moment on the persistence. I am using classes generated by Netbeans. I have a JSF page which is deployed on Sun AS.
The select, update and new are all done from the same backing bean. Only the select works, even though they all use the same EntityManagerFactory.

Many thanks for the help with update. I had seen an example like yours before but forgotten about it. Do you always have to have a em.find() inside the transaction? (We are talking about a user submitting jsf page to be updated.)
And what about em.merge(). What is the purpose of this function? It is quite unclear from the javadoc.

i used the standard search help it holds some 15 values for selection...
when i click on the search help i m getting some 15 values for selection. but i dont need all the 15 values. i need only 4 values for selection..can any one help me regarding this...

Delta field not enabled for selection in generic data source

I have created a generic data source for the table VBFA....and for the delta pick up i have put the delta option as CALDAY on the field ERDAT...and i have selected that field for the selection option. but after i made it delta enabled the selection option got disabled.
Now when i check the info package delta selection tab that date column is not apperaing.
But when i have to run the info package for the first i dont want all the data as it has a huge set of data.
I wanted to take only this months data.
So is there any option to be set to enable this selection in info package.
please suggest.

Hi there,
That's the stardard behaviour. If you use delta based om ERDAT, that field won't be available for selecting.
You could for example try to build a view over VBFA, and let the field ERDAT there and another field, for example ZERDAT (that is just another alias for ERDAT). Create the delta based onyour view over the field (ERDAT), but you can still control the restrictions over the extractore with your ZERDAT.
I don't know if this is possible, this is only an assumption.
Another option could be first to create an extractor based on the table VBFA but without delta, that field ERDAT would be available. Do your full data restricting it, and after that, change your datasource to use deltas based on ERDAT. It will be unavailable than, but since you've already loaded previous full data, you could than use your delta like it is. But here, remember, your deltas will bring new and change data based on ERDAT. If it brings delta based on changed data over ERDAT to a record that you didn't brought over your full (only some data), it will be incorrect records.
Also just an assumption, did not try it.

Parameter for selection screen

I want a parameter (Input box) in my selection-screen which can hold 250 characters . I don't want to make screen for this, I want to do it using selection-screen only. Is it possible to do this.

As Dande suggested the table name holding 250 character field and the syntax I tried using it but its holding only 45 characters. I am not sure whether it will hold more than 45 characters or not.

In pageflow definition, "Train Stop-->Skip" property controls the enable/disable state.
If Skip value is true (it can be controlled with EL expression) than related link and button in train components are disabled.
They are enabled other If Skip value is false (It is default).

If your tables are big it could be necessary to do the filtering (according to your condition) in an early step (the first CTE).

Hello,
in an ALV-Report you could just use get_selinfos = 'X' in the layout-workarea.
Check the docu on parameter IS_LAYOUT in REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY.
Or you could use the fuction you wrote about and print these information at the TOP_OF_PAGE event.

While calling the FM for List Display ( "REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY" or "REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY" ) set the Parameter I_SAVE for Setting the Layout and Selecting a different Layouts.
The possible values for I_SAVE are "A", "U", "X" or others. Depending on the requiement you can set different values for the Parameter I_SAVE.
' ' = display variants cannot be saved
Defined display variants (e.g. delivered display variants) can be selected for presentation independently of this flag.
Changes can not be saved.
'X' = standard save
Display variants can be saved as standard display variants.
User-specific saving is not possible.
'U' = only user-specific saving
The user can only save display variants user-specifically
'A' = standard and user-specific saving
The user can save a display variant user-specifically and
as standard display variant. The user chooses in the display variant
save popup.

What makes a field eligible for selecting data in a subreport?

Hello,
I have posted the following question to [StackOverflow|http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4366702/what-makes-a-field-eligible-for-selecting-data-in-a-subreport], but it has so far generated no replies. I decided to cross-post it here to see if I could get a better result.
The TL;DR of it is that I have a field which I should be able to link in my Subreport, but it does not appear, and I was wondering what I need to do to make it appear.
I have a Crystal Report I'm trying to recreate from scratch after an update from VS2008 to VS2010 caused it to implode horribly.
I've gotten most of the way through, but I'm at a stage where I'm linking a field in the Main Report to a corresponding field in the Subreport.
I have set up a bunch of Database fields in the Subreport, I've added the table I want, TableA, I've linked it up as everything was linked in the original report, with TableA at the head of the linking chain, so that all the rows I want can be derived from the result of that first query ( Actually, all of the links from the original Report were red in the Database Fields linking dialog, whereas mine are a bit rainbow-y. All the links in TableA are red, though... _ )
In the "Subreport Links" dialog, I have an integer which I know is being pulled from the database correctly. I've added it in the "Fields to link to" listbox, and selected the newly-created parameter in the "Subreport parameter to use" combobox. I've ticked the "Select data in subreport based on field" checkbox.
The database field I want to link to then does not appear in the second combobox.
Another integer field in TableA shows up fine in the "Select data..." combobox (and is linked to another field being passed in), so I don't know why these two integer fields, which are equally important, and exist on the same level, on the same table, are being treated differently by the report designed.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Here is what I'd do:
1) Download CR 2008 eval designer from here:

2) Try the linking in CR 2008 designer
3) If it does not work there, ask why not in the [CR design|SAP Crystal Reports, version for Visual Studio; forum.
4) If you get the linking working in the CR 200 designer, try to run the report in your VS2010 app (after ensuring the report woks as expected in CR 2008).
5) If (4) above works out for you, please let me know as this may be an issue with CRVS2010.
