Case supported in sql but not in pl/sql

i get a ...
LS-00103: Encountered the symbol "CASE" when expecting one of the following:
i am running on a 8.1.6.0 any one know when this is available ???

Check if you have direct right to the TABLE CST_ITEM_COSTS (not through role), because if you access any oracle objects from PL SQL then you need direct rights to Oracle objects and not through roles.
You can check this by executing this
SET ROLE NONE and see if you can execute the SQL from SQL plus, if you cannot then it implies you have right to that object through a ROLE.
Thanks

  • My Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4DC is on the supported lens list but not in the Profile Downloader.

    My Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4DC is on the supported lens list but not in the Profile Downloader.
    How can I download the profile?
    Thanks very much.

    The “Lens Profile Downloader” is not where you get lenses “on the list”, rather it is where you get lenses that third-parties have provided, so usually for lenses not on the list.
    I see three Sigma 17-70 f/2.8 DC variations for 5 different camera manufacturers so I’d expect you should see the lens listed if you select a raw photo.  There is no profile for JPGs.
    Here are the profiles for Canon:
    Canon (SIGMA 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC MACRO OS HSM C013) - RAW.lcp
    Canon (Sigma_17-70mm_F2.8-4.5_DC_MACRO_HSM ) - RAW.lcp
    Canon (Sigma_17-70mm_F2.8-4_DC_MACRO_OS_HSM ) - RAW.lcp
    What is your actual situation, are you looking at a JPG that won’t have a lens profile, or is the lens profile not in the list for your camera or is it just not being found automatically when you set Lens Profile Setup to Auto.

  • Spartan support Flash Player but not silverlight!.

    why spartan(0.11.10061.0), support Flash player but not silverlight?

    Chrome supports flash natively.
    I guess they don't want consumers to move to Chrome because some web sites work on Chrome and not Spartan.
    Spartan is supposed to be a cut down super lightweight super fast browser.
    Running Silverlight/ActiveX in the browser is considered low priority by Microsoft.
    I think the idea is you use IE11 if you want Silverlight.

  • Can someone help me understand how ePub CSS @fontface Unicode characters are supported in td , but not in div or other elements?

    Hi,
    I'm working on a project to convert several hundred thousand life sciences articles into epub format, and we have run in to a problem with character entities.
    Being that these are scientific articles, the characters are from a wide range of Unicode charts, and are essential to transmitting the meaning of the data.
    The problem is that in my epub, the character entity inside a table data cell is rendering the @font-face correctly, but inside any other HTML element, the character renders as an empty box on our ipad2s.
    I've placed pre tags in hopes that the unicode will not be rendered in your browser here. The code point in this example is x1d542 just in case.
    So inside div, we see boxes, inside td, we see the character rendered properly.
    <pre>
          <div class="stix">Let &#x1d542; be a field, which will be either the complex numbers &#x02102; or the finite field &#x1d53d;</div>
          <table id="t31" rules="all">
            <tr>
              <td>&#x1d542;</td>
              <td class="stix">&#x1d542;</td>
              <td>U+1D542 MATHEMATICAL DOUBLE-STRUCK CAPITAL K </td>
            </tr>
    </pre>
    My CSS looks like this:
    <pre>
    @font-face {
        font-family: 'STIX';
        src: url('STIX-Regular.otf') format('opentype');
        font-weight: normal;
        font-style: normal;

    @font-face {
        font-family: 'STIX-Math';
        src: url('STIXMath-Regular.otf') format('opentype');
        font-weight: normal;

    .stix   {
            font-family: "STIX", "STIX-Math", sans-serif;
    </pre>
    Is it possible that this is a rendering bug, because the character is rendering in the table cell, but not in other elements?
    Have I missed something obvious?
    Thanks,
    Abe

    I assume you are including the STIX font as part of your epub files?
    Perhaps the folks who do this blog might be able to help -- they have done some work with font embedding:

  • Droid 2 Global: OGG supported as ringtone, but not as a playable music file?

    I've been having some trouble playing .ogg music in the music player (by trouble I mean it comes back as mostly static), though Android 2.2 is supposed to support ogg natively. Motorola's site on the Droid 2 Global shows something interesting: http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/US-EN/Consumer-Product-and-Services/Mobile-Phones/ci.DROID2-Global-US-EN.alt
    It lists ogg under supported ringtones but not under Playable formates. Huh? What gives? I've even tried different players that are supposed to support ogg on this phone but they do nothing. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? How is it that the ringtone can play it but the player cannot, even though Android 2.2 supports the formate?

    Oh me of little faith. The replacement phone syncs both ways. I guess there must be some data corruption that persists past a hard reset.

  • Supports opening Excel but not Numbers?

    Who was the genius that gave the phone Excel support but not Numbers? Please tell me he's been fired already and I'll sleep good tonight.

    I may be dense but...
    What do you mean another reason to switch?
    If the reason for switching was to run Excel, we have come to the end of mankind.
    There are a lot more reasons significant reasons to switch from your existing cellular to the iPhone other than Excel. I would think that Excel should be way down on the list.

  • Case Working in "TOAD" but not Working in "WHERE" clause

    Hi Friends,
    When I am using case in the where clause of SQL query in Oracle Reports 3.0.5, than it is giving me "Error - Rep - 0946 Unable to Parse Query"
    But when I am running the same query in TOAD it is working fine.
    select *from inv_stores, inv_product, inv_location
    where  (inv_stores.location_code in ('12', '13', '16', '17', '18') and
                inv_stores.location_code = inv_location.location_code and
                inv_stores.department_code = inv_product.department_code and

                       (((CASE WHEN nvl(inv_product.sale_price3jd,0) = 0 THEN 0  ELSE (nvl(inv_product.sale_price3jd,0) - nvl(inv_product.cost_pricejd,0)) /
                       nvl(inv_product.sale_price3jd,0) END) *  100 ) <= 100))
    order by inv_product.department_code, inv_product.product_codePlease Help me.......
    Thanks in Advance

    Hello,
    When you create a SQL query in Reports, Reports will parse the SQL query in order to create the "data model".
    Reports 3.0.5 is quite old, so, you can use only the SQL "supported" by the RSF included in Reports 3.0.5.
    When you use TOAD , the sql query is not parsed by TOAD but by the DB just like with sqlplus or SQL Developer.

  • ITunes 5 supports Playlist Folders but not iPod (grrr!!)

    I have been waiting for the playlist folder feature (also known as hierarchal playlists, where you can nest playlists within each other) FOREVER. The absence of this feature has been my ONLY PROBLEM with iTunes and iPod. So now Apple finally gets smart with iTunes 5 and puts in their playlist folder feature where you can group playlist into folders, BUT IT DOESN'T SYNC to the iPod!! I nearly went insane! Does this bother anyone else? Or is it just me??
    Please, please, please Apple, in your next release of iPod Updater add the folder feature to the iPod firmware. you have it FINALLY in iTunes, now why leave it out of the iPod itself (the whole reason of existence for iTunes in the first place!)??
    Does anyone else feel my pain, or have any ideas?? I've already submitted the idea to iPod Feedback several times.

    While I completely sympathize with your situation Drusus, I feel like Apple actually does a pretty good job with their customer care, overall. They provide updates frequently and easily, usually fix any know bugs or glitches in a timely manner, and if you've ever dealt with a Genius at the Apple Store, you know that their support is pretty good, especially compared to something like Dell or HP (which tends to be impersonal and take forever).
    I come from 10 years in the PC world (having built most of my own systems, just like you) and now I own two Macs. Let me tell you, the Apple systems are amazing. Don't let your little problem with the iPod too greatly influence how they support (and build) their computer systems. I love my two Macs so much, I can't even describe it.
    When my iBook's logic board went bad, Apple tried to repair it, but it kept going bad again. So what did Apple do? They gave me a brand new computer sealed and in the box! I was amazed! My experience with this, and with my iBook overall, prompted me to go out and buy an Apple desktop. Now I also own a dual Power Mac G5 (amazing machine!).
    So I kinda got off topic, but I guess all that I'm trying to say is don't let your little problem with the iPod get in the way of you enjoying a full-fledged Mac! It's really an experience like no PC.
    But I guess this post is in vain, because most people already have it made up in their mind if they're really willing to make "the switch." This is nothing but advice from one iPod user to another, so I hope I haven't offended you in any way, and hopefully Apple starts listening to us iPod users with good (and necessary) suggestions!

  • Website use Java but not support Microsoft JVM

    This website (www.esdlife.com.hk) only support Microsoft JVM but not Sun JAVA JVM, I can't logon into their service pages until I disable my Sun JVM or unless I use another computer it has Microsoft JVM installed. Those pages even don't let me use other web browser like Netscape except Internet Explorer. I am an amateur Java programmer and I have been studying Java for three years. I don't know if this is an issue to the future of Java Technology. This website supported by the Hong Kong government I believe. Could anyone response my question?
    Thanks in advance!
    Peter
    [email protected]

    What has probably happened is that the site you are talking about wrote thier page with Microsoft Java, which isn't really Java. They probably used some class, or number of classes, that is specific to the Microsoft VM. This is not a problem with Java, it is a problem with Microsoft makeing their Java uncompatible with Java.

  • Full list of MS SQL 2000 features that are supported in compatibilty 80 mode but not available in 2008 R2 compatibility 100

    Hello Everyone,
    Could you possibly suggest where I can find a full list MS SQL 2000 features that are supported in 2008 R2 compatibilty 80 mode but not available in  compatibility 100?
    Thanks
    SSIS question

    Hi Tom,
    What you are saying makes sense, if the compatibility level is 90 then the old ANSI joins are expected to be rectified.
    I wrote a script to check - it's an easy exercise, all you need is to loop through the catalog views and for each SP or scalar function run this command:
    set fmtonly on exec <object> set fmtonly on and in the catch block handle the error related to compatibility.
    For checkign the views similar thing set noexec on <select top 1 * from view> set noexec off.
    This works very fast as none of the code is actually executed.
    Caveat thought  triggers and table functions. I could not find the way how to check them. so will have to extract the DDLs and just check the text for old ansi joins. Not very reliable, but that's all I can think of at the moment.
    Any chance you know how to compile a trigger or table function without running.
    For table functions when I tried set noexec on they still asked for parameters, something I was trying to avoid.
    Thanks

    Privs granted via a role are only valid from SQL - and not from/within stored PL/SQL code.
    Quoting Tom's (from http://asktom.oracle.com) response to this:I did address this role thing in my book Expert one on one Oracle:
    <quote>
    What happens when we compile a Definer rights procedure
    When we compile the procedure into the database, a couple of things happen with regards to
    privileges.  We will list them here briefly and then go into more detail:
    q    All of the objects the procedure statically accesses (anything not accessed via dynamic SQL)
    are verified for existence. Names are resolved via the standard scoping rules as they apply to the
    definer of the procedure.
    q    All of the objects it accesses are verified to ensure that the required access mode will be
    available. That is, if an attempt to UPDATE T is made - Oracle will verify the definer or PUBLIC
    has the ability to UPDATE T without use of any ROLES.
    q    A dependency between this procedure and the referenced objects is setup and maintained. If
    this procedure SELECTS FROM T, then a dependency between T and this procedure is recorded
    If, for example, I have a procedure P that attempted to 'SELECT * FROM T', the compiler will first
    resolve T into a fully qualified referenced.  T is an ambiguous name in the database - there may be
    many T's to choose from. Oracle will follow its scoping rules to figure out what T really is, any
    synonyms will be resolved to their base objects and the schema name will be associated with the
    object as well. It does this name resolution using the rules for the currently logged in user (the
    definer). That is, it will look for an object owned by this user called T and use that first (this
    includes private synonyms), then it will look at public synonyms and try to find T and so on.
    Once it determines exactly what T refers to - Oracle will determine if the mode in which we are
    attempting to access T is permitted.   In this case, if we as the definer of the procedure either
    owns the object T or has been granted SELECT on T directly or PUBLIC was granted SELECT, the
    procedure will compile.  If we do not have access to an object called T by a direct grant - the
    procedure P will fail compilation.  So, when the object (the stored procedure that references T) is
    compiled into the database, Oracle will do these checks - and if they "pass", Oracle will compile
    the procedure, store the binary code for the procedure and set up a dependency between this
    procedure and this object T.  This dependency is used to invalidate the procedure later - in the
    event something happens to T that necessitates the stored procedures recompilation.  For example,
    if at a later date - we REVOKE SELECT ON T from the owner of this stored procedure - Oracle will
    mark all stored procedures this user has that are dependent on T, that refer to T, as INVALID. If
    we ALTER T ADD  some column, Oracle can invalidate all of the dependent procedures. This will cause
    them to be recompiled automatically upon their next execution.
    What is interesting to note is not only what is stored but what is not stored when we compile the
    object. Oracle does not store the exact privilege that was used to get access to T. We only know
    that procedure P is dependent on T. We do not know if the reason we were allowed to see T was due
    to:
    q    A grant given to the definer of the procedure (grant select on T to user)
    q    A grant to public on T (grant select on T to public)
    q    The user having the SELECT ANY TABLE privilege
    The reason it is interesting to note what is not stored is that a REVOKE of any of the above will
    cause the procedure P to become invalid. If all three privileges were in place when the procedure
    was compiled, a revoke of ANY of them will invalidate the procedure - forcing it to be recompiled
    before it is executed again. Since all three privileges were in place when we created the procedure
    - it will compile successfully (until we revoke all three that is). This recompilation will happen
    automatically the next time that the procedure is executed.
    Now that the procedure is compiled into the database and the dependencies are all setup, we can
    execute the procedure and be assured that it knows what T is and that T is accessible. If something
    happens to either the table T or to the set of base privileges available to the definer of this
    procedure that might affect our ability to access T -- our procedure will become invalid and will
    need to be recompiled.
    This leads into why ROLES are not enabled during the compilation and execution of a stored
    procedure in Definer rights mode. Oracle is not storing exactly WHY you are allowed to access T -
    only that you are. Any change to your privileges that might cause access to T to go away will cause
    the procedure to become invalid and necessitate its recompilation. Without roles - that means only
    'REVOKE SELECT ANY TABLE' or 'REVOKE SELECT ON T' from the Definer account or from PUBLIC. With
    roles - it greatly expands the number of times we would invalidate this procedure. If some role
    that was granted to some role that was granted to this user was modified, this procedure might go
    invalid, even if we did not rely on that privilege from that role. ROLES are designed to be very
    fluid when compared to GRANTS given to users as far as privilege sets go. For a minute, let's say
    that roles did give us privileges in stored objects. Now, most any time anything was revoked from
    ANY ROLE we had, or any role any role we have has (and so on -- roles can and are granted to roles)
    -- many of our objects would become invalid. Think about that, REVOKE some privilege from a ROLE
    and suddenly your entire database must be recompiled! Consider the impact of revoking some system
    privilege from a ROLE, it would be like doing that to PUBLIC is now, don't do it, just think about
    it (if you do revoke some powerful system privilege from PUBLIC, do it on a test database). If
    PUBLIC had been granted SELECT ANY TABLE, revoking that privilege would cause virtually every
    procedure in the database to go invalid. If procedures relied on roles, virtually every procedure
    in the database would constantly become invalid due to small changes in permissions. Since one of
    the major benefits of procedures is the 'compile once, run many' model - this would be disastrous
    for performance.
    Also consider that roles may be
    q    Non-default: If I have a non-default role and I enable it and I compile a procedure that
    relies on those privileges, when I log out I no longer have that role -- should my procedure become
    invalid -- why? Why not? I could easily argue both sides.
    q    Password Protected: if someone changes the password on a ROLE, should everything that might
    need that role be recompiled?  I might be granted that role but not knowing the new password - I
    can no longer enable it. Should the privileges still be available?  Why or Why not?  Again, arguing
    either side of this is easy. There are cases for and against each.
    The bottom line with respect to roles in procedures with Definer rights are:
    q    You have thousands or tens of thousands of end users. They don't create stored objects (they
    should not). We need roles to manage these people. Roles are designed for these people (end users).
    q    You have far fewer application schema's (things that hold stored objects). For these we want
    to be explicit as to exactly what privileges we need and why. In security terms this is called the
    concept of 'least privileges', you want to specifically say what privilege you need and why you
    need it. If you inherit lots of privileges from roles you cannot do that effectively. We can manage
    to be explicit since the number of development schemas is SMALL (but the number of end users is
    large)...
    q    Having the direct relationship between the definer and the procedure makes for a much more
    efficient database. We recompile objects only when we need to, not when we might need to. It is a
    large efficiency enhancement.

    It appears what happened is the installer though it was looking at a empty drive and just went ahead and installed.
    I of course am assuming here you didn't use Disk Utility to format the drive first before installing, that would wipe out your files and programs for sure.
    So what to do, what to do.
    Well there is hope for you as long as the drive wasn't Filevaulted.
    I'll explain. When a hard drive writes data for the first time to a drive, it starts at the very top and works it's way down.
    When OS X was installed the first time, it was at the top of the drive, unless you upgraded then the upgraded OS X could have been written elsewhere.
    Now when you just reinstalled OS X, the new OS went on the top of the drive, overwriting any data that was there previously, so what was there you have lost forever which is about 8GB or so. If it was the previous OS there, then your more in luck because only the old OS X was overwritten.
    The remaining space on the drive still can have a copy of your files, provided it's not overwritten yet.
    It's because when a hard drive deletes data or reformats, it doesn't remove the data off the drive or overwrites it immediately, it's just made so it's SPACE is available for new files to be written there.
    So technically one can recover the deleted data off a non-encrypted/scrubbed hard drive with special software.
    The way it does this is it reads the 1's and 0's of the files themselves, and through a lot of figuring out, can tell what that file is and what it belongs too.
    So what you will have to do is this:
    Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
    or if you don't have the skills, then take it to a local PC/Mac tech and they can do a direct image of the drive and then you can run Data Rescue on it to rebuild your files.
