Website use Java but not support Microsoft JVM

This website (www.esdlife.com.hk) only support Microsoft JVM but not Sun JAVA JVM, I can't logon into their service pages until I disable my Sun JVM or unless I use another computer it has Microsoft JVM installed. Those pages even don't let me use other web browser like Netscape except Internet Explorer. I am an amateur Java programmer and I have been studying Java for three years. I don't know if this is an issue to the future of Java Technology. This website supported by the Hong Kong government I believe. Could anyone response my question?
Thanks in advance!

What has probably happened is that the site you are talking about wrote thier page with Microsoft Java, which isn't really Java. They probably used some class, or number of classes, that is specific to the Microsoft VM. This is not a problem with Java, it is a problem with Microsoft makeing their Java uncompatible with Java.

  • Have to use Java, but not happy about it.  Ways to reduce risks?

    Hi,
I've just realised that I have software that requires Java to run.  I want to use this software, but I don't want to install Java.  Currently, neither the software nor Java are installed on any of my Macs.  Can someone advise me how I might mitigate the security impact of installing Java on my Mac mini and MacBook Pro?  At the most extreme, I'd like to make sure that only this piece of software in particular can use it, and none other.  I doubt that's actually possible, but it'd be nice.  At the very least, I'd like to make sure that Java has absolutely _no_ internet access at all, and access to as little of my system as possible.
If it helps: the software that requires it will actually be run entirely from an external drive, as and when required.  This drive will only be attached to a Mac when I need to use the software.  Is there perhaps a way of installing Java to the external drive and telling the software to use it?  That would substantially reduce security risks and additionally save space on my two Macs (one of which runs an SSD).
There's very, very little chance of this software losing its dependence on Java any time soon, but I've contacted the developer's tech support just to make sure.
    Thanks

The only way I know of to do what you want is to turn Java off after each use of this software.
Let me try to ease your mind, a bit.
There are no known exploits of Java vulnerabilities when used by an application on any version of OS X. All such malware used browser applets to do their thing. I'm sure somebody could figure out a way to insert something into a Java using application which to do so, but so far it has not happened, as far as we all know.
Flashback appears to be extinct according to this ESET document.
GateKeeper should be able to block any unsigned Java Applet.

  • Logging in on website using java

    Hello,
I am quite inexperienced when it comes to java programming, so my apologies if I post this in the wrong section.
I am trying to open a website using java. So far I succeeded in reading the source code through java, which is about halfway I want to get. However, for getting the information I want, I need to login on the website with my account. I have no idea how something like that should be done. Cookies are used to login, and I am using BlueJ for my program. Could anyone help me out with an example or explanation on how this is done?
    Thanks in advance,
    Tybs

I downloaded the httpclient tool, it looks promising. I managed to open it in blueJ, so far so good... the only problem now is that I can't compile it. Each class gives me an error message. This one, for example:
    import test.com.meterware.httpunit.*;
    package test.com.meterware.httpunit does not exist
I found the necessary packages in the tool itself, but I have no idea how I can specify the path to them, or how I can add them to the packages that java already has. What do I need to do for this?
Thanks for the information so far, it really helps :D

  • HT201318 Hello. I have just built a website using iWeb but cannot upload it. I curently have the 25gb account. There doesn't appear to be any facility here for the net. ASm I correct in thinking I need an upgrade, or am I doing something wrong?  Thanks

Hello. I have just built a website using iWeb but cannot upload it. I curently have the 25gb account. There doesn't appear to be any facility here for the net. Am I correct in thinking I need an upgrade, or am I doing something wrong?  Thanks

iCloud does not provide website hosting. You will need to find another website hosting service - there are many to choose from - and upload your site there. How you do this depends on what version of iWeb you have.
In order to upload your existing site in iWeb '09 and above:
Click on the name of the site in the sidebar: the publishing settings pane will open. Set 'Publish to' to 'FTP'. Enter the name of the site and a contact address (if desired).
In the 'FTP Server Settings' section you will need to know the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. Your site will be published in a folder with its name at root level of the server, with an index.html file at root level (which will overwrite any index.html file which may be there already). The 'Directory/Path' field may need to include a path such as '/webspace/' or 'ht_docs/' - this is dependent on your hosting service and they should tell you this. If you want to publish within a folder you can add that to the path.
You can then click the 'Test connection' button so that iWeb can check that it can get access to your server space. You should enter the URL of the site in the 'URL' field so that rss feeds and internal links have the correct address.
To publish using an earlier version of iWeb:
From the File menu choose 'Publish to a folder'. You should create a folder somewhere convenient specifically for this and choose it when publishing to a folder: this folder should not contain anything else.
You now need an FTP program (FTP is the 'protocol' used for uploading) to upload the contents of the folder to your server.Cyberduck is free (donation requested): Transmit is $34 but I think better. You will need the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. You can drag the contents of your folder to your webspace, or create a folder there and drag the contents to that if you prefer.
Some facilities that iWeb provided when hosted on MobileMe will not work on other servers: comments on weblogs and photos, password-protecting your site (some hosts may provide this), searching in the weblog, and a hits counter (again, some hosts can provide code for this). Slideshows in iWeb will work on other hosts than MobileMe (they use different code when FTPing which doesn't depend on scripts hosted on MobileMe as the MobileMe version does); however there is an issue with the 'buttons' which control the slideshow which are images hosted on me.com - these depend on images which used to be hosted on MobileMe. The poster 'Old Toad' on the Apple Forums has provided a workaround, described at http://oldtoadstutorials.net/No.26.html.

  • Why is there a java enable function in the settings app if java ia not supported by ipad2?

Why is there a java enable function in the settings app of the ipad2, ios5, when java is not supported by ios5 on the ipad2?  The adds say that java neo, I think that is what it is supposed to be called, was supposedly introduced into the ios5 format to deal with this?

If you're looking in the settings for Safari, that's JavaScript, which despite the similarity in names is completely different from Java. Java is not, never has been, and all indications are never will be supported in iOS. I have no idea what "java neo" might be, but I've never seen Java mentioned in any way in any of Apple's iPad ads.

  • Why java does not support multiple inheritance ???

Hai friends ..iam new to java .. i have doubt ..plz help me
Why java does not support multiple inheritance ???

The reasons for omitting multiple inheritance from the Java language mostly stem from the "simple, object oriented, and familiar" goal.
To understand multiple inheritance, the learner needs some level of expertise like virtual derivations etc in c++. Multiple inheritance will allow method duplication, and throws the learner into confusion which method might be called by the compiler in which scenario at run time.
Even though this answer seems to be funny, this is the actual reason why java omitted multiple inheritance of classes.
But java support multiple inheritance of interfaces. Multiple interface inheritance allows an object to inherit many different method signatures with the caveat that the inheriting object must implement those inherited methods.

  • Firefox throws "This Connection is Untrusted" when using hostname, but not when using IP address

I am remotely accessing a website which has iFrame in it. The website uses https, but iFrame tag has "src" pointing to a site using http only. However, when I remotely go to the site, iFrame shows the message below although the ''src" url is http only (there is no SSL certificate) when I use IP address (https://10.10.101.156:8006/apprecovery/admin/Core/Storage) in address bar instead of hostname (https://hostname:8006/apprecovery/admin):
    ===
    This Connection is Untrusted
You have asked Firefox to connect
securely to d37t50w1, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely,
sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are
going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
    What Should I Do?
    If you usually connect to
this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is
trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.
d37t50w1 uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed.
    (Error code: sec_error_ca_cert_invalid)
    ===
Why is it giving this when using hostname but not when IP address is using?

    Corrected first para above:
I am remotely accessing a website which has iFrame in it. The website uses https, but iFrame tag has "src" pointing to a site using http only. However, when I remotely go to the site, iFrame shows the message below although the "src" url is http only (there is no SSL certificate) when I use hostname address (https://<hostname>:8006/apprecovery/admin) in address bar. But I dont see the message in iFrame when I instead use IP Address (https://<IP Address>:8006/apprecovery/admin) to go to main website.

  • My question is which better to use every time my iPad until the battery is 0% then charge it to 100% then use it again until it is 0% or i use it until the percentage is low then charge it until it is 70 - 80 %  then use it but not let it charge to 100%

My question is which better to use every time my iPad until the battery is 0% then charge it to 100% then use it again until it is 0% or i use it until the percentage is low then charge it until it is 70 - 80 % percentage then use it but not let it charge until it is 100% to reduce the number of circles and increase the life of battery as i read that it must at least one time a month use the device until the battery drain to 0% then charge it again to 100% but i don't understand is it must be one, two, three times a month or properly most of the times  to reduce the the number of circles and increase the life of the battery?

    wuzradioman,
I was originally on your side in the discussion of batteries, however, after being contradicted by Meg St._Clair and others I took a leap of faith and took their advice with my Apple devices.  Much to my chagrin their advice has proven true.
Long story short I have not noticed any differences in my battery life by changing my charging habits to what is convienant over what is more in line with conventional battery myths.

My trackpad is responding the click on finder, i can use multitouch but not leftclick/1 click/touch. Aswell when i go to the findertab at the bottom with the mouse, app icons Does Not expand. I had no problems with it before, but I'm very confused.

Not using any mouse pad, I have a very smooth desktop. But I just tried to use a sheet of A4 printing paper, but no result, the problem persisted.
Someone on this forum suggested, that USB3 may interfere with the magic mouse.
I have 2 LaCie HDD's about 70 cm away from the mouse, I use them on Thunderbolt. But in operation or not - the result is the same, the mouse plays up! Just now I was clicking the desktop and the mouse created a new folder!!
    Thanks for the advice, Bee

  • Use Skype, but not torrents

    Hi.
I am looking for a way to allow the users in my company to use skype, but not to be able to use torrents. We are using Skype to communicate, but the torrents are making a lot of traffic.
I was thinking to use Squid proxy. I can disallow the users to download *.torrent files, but I do not like that way of dealing with the problem. Do you have the same problem at your companies and how did you manage to solve it.
    Regards.

There are two projects, l7-filter and ipp2p, which allow you to match p2p traffic and drop it using iptables. Both need kernel patching, though (edit: actually, ipp2p apparently doesn't).

    Hi Karen,
The means that iTunes can no longer locate the songs (mp3/m4a) on the hard-drive and as such they won't even play in iTunes, let alone transfer to your iPod.
Have you recently re-organised your music folders? If you know where these songs are on your hard-drive then you could clear all of the tracks that display the symbol from iTunes and then add them again from their location either through the 'add folders to library' function or by dragging and dropping them diectly into iTunes from Windows Explorer.

The model 2,1 MacBook has an easily removable battery. You can get a new third party battery fairly cheap on eBay. Every MacBook from 2006 through Mid 2009 except the Late 2008 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 and 2010 White Unibodies use the same A1185 battery.

    Removing the battery:
Shut down the computer. Disconnect any cords connected to the computer.
    Turn the computer over.
Locate the battery latch on one side of the battery.
Use a coin to turn the latch a quarter-turn clockwise. The battery should pop up slightly.
    Lift the battery out.
    Installing the battery:
Place the right side of the battery into the battery compartment at an angle, as shown below.
Gently press the left side of the battery down until it sits flat.
While holding the battery down, use a coin to turn the latch a quarter-turn counter-clockwise. The battery should lock into place.
Note: Keep in mind that once the new battery is inserted, you will need to press the power button to start up the computer.
