Catch CONVT_NO_NUMBER runtime error in OO ABAP Program

Hi all,
In our abap proxy program, sometimes the CONVT_NO_NUMBER will happen and cause the program dump. I noticed that this error cannot be caught by CX_ROOT exception class.
Some told me I can use the CATCH SYSTEM-EXCEPTIONS sentence to catch this runtime error, but it is a old-way syntax and cannot be used with the "try" and "catch".
So, how can I catch this runtime error and avoid the dump of our program?
Thanks,
YiNing

Hi,
You are not checking for conversion.
You are checking ofr logical expression.
Try below code, it works
DATA error_ref TYPE REF TO cx_sy_conversion_no_number.
DATA err_text TYPE string.
DATA a TYPE i.
TRY.
    MOVE 'A' TO a.
  CATCH cx_sy_conversion_no_number INTO error_ref.
    err_text = error_ref->get_text( ).
    WRITE err_text.
ENDTRY.

    Hi,
While Executing the proxy, first give \h TC and then execute the proxy then it will automatically got to debugging mode.
I think ur data is worng,if it is wrong then only u will get this type of errors.

  • Catching a runtime error

    Hi,
A runtime error for overflow (type p) occurs with the following details:
    Runtime Errors         COMPUTE_BCD_OVERFLOW
    Exception              CX_SY_ARITHMETIC_OVERFLOW
    Date and Time          06/12/2007 11:33:13
Instead of displaying the dump screen, i'd like to catch the runtime error and display a message instead. The following is the code that causes the error (onhand is too large):
          REQRMENT = FORECAST - ONHAND - OPENQTY.
    Please help,
Points will be rewarded and all help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Error when exporting ABAP Programs and the Project

    Hi All,
I keep on getting the following errors when I'm exporting the entire Project or only ABAP Programs (see attached screenshots).
    - Screenshot 1 shows an error when exporting a Project.
    - Screenshot 2 shows an error when exporting ABAP Program(s).
These errors occur in the DEV environment.
    Please help.
    Thank you all.
    Kind regards,
    Roli

    Hi Ramakrishna,
I will send the log file for when exporting a project. However, the issue of exporting ABAP Programs is nor resolved.
In CMC we had to configure the system to Generate ABAP = True.
    Thank you.
    Kind regards,
    Roli

  • Error out the ABAP program execution

I have an ABAP program which transfers data from a file to a database table thru function module in packages of 50,000 records.
Upon the successful completion of this ABAP program, I start dependent processes.
Sometimes the function module does not transfer the data and returns the exception back to the ABAP program - which is an expected scenario. Currently when ever an exception is received in the function module, I stop the ABAP program with a STOP statement.
The ABAP program stops, which meets my first objective. But what happens is, if you look at the job log --> it is Completed in terms of program execution and the dependent processes automatically start - which is not meeting my second objective.
My second objective is to force the ABAP program to error out in such a way that .........
    1) The program execution is stopped
    2) If I look at the job log it should not be Completed (I am looking for something like Cancelled so that the dependent process do not get started automatically)
Is it possible to error out the ABAP program execution by raising an exception or something, so that when i look at the job log - it shows Cancelled and not Completed?
Let me know if you have any questions.
    Thanks,
    RK.

    Adrian,
Thanks - This is exactly what I was looking for, it works.
For some reason Messages skipped my mind and I was looking at raising Exceptions
    Solution:
    if sy-subrc NE 0.
message id 'abc' type 'E' number 000.
    endif.
    Thanks,
    RK.

  • Error while calling ABAP program from Data Services

    Hi All,
We have a ABAP program which accepts two parameters 1] a date 2] a string of comma separated ARTICLE numbers .
We have used a ABAB transform in ABAP dataflow which refers this ABAP program.
If I pass a string of 6 articles as second parameter the job executes successfully
But if i pass 9 articles as follows
    $GV_ITEM_VALUES='3564785,1234789,1234509,1987654,1234567,2345678,3456789,4567890,5456759';
    i get the following error
ABAP program syntax error: <Literals that take up more than one line are not permitted>.
The error occurs immediately after ABAP dataflow starts, ie even before the ABAP job gets submitted to ECC
    I am using BODS 4.2 . The datatype of $GV_ITEM_VALUES is varchar(1000).
The ABAP program that gets generated by the DS job has the following datatype for this parameter
    PARAMETER $PARAM2(1000) TYPE C
Is there a different way to pass string characters to ABAP transform in data services?
I have attached the screen shot of trace log and error
    Regards,
    Sharayu

    Hi Sharayu,
The error your getting is because the  literals exceeds more than 72 characters.
It seems that the length of the string is exceeding more than 72 character.
Can you check the following in ECC GUI
    Go to Transaction SE38=>Utilities=>Settings=>ABAP Editor=>Editor=> Downwards -Comp.Line  Length(72).
The checkbox which defines length 72 must be clicked so the error is coming. Can you uncheck the checkbox and then try passing the parameter $GV_ITEM_VALUES using the BODS job

  • Runtime errors in module pool programming

    HI all,
I have done a module pool program for invoice tracking level wise.
I am encountering a runtime error, LIST_TOO_MANY_LPROS, while execution ie., for two and more than two updations of the database.
The error analysis says that "At present, the maximum permitted number of nested screen levels is restricted to 50".
Short Text :- "No further list processing possible".
Can anyone please come out with a solution for this problem.

    Hi
U should replace the comand CALL SCREEN with LEAVE TO SCREEN.
The command CALL SCREEN create an internal mode to link the calling screen to called screen automatically: in this way when it needs to back to calling screen it doesn't need to specify the screen number but only to use:
    - LEAVE TO SCREEN 0.
    or
    - SET SCREEN 0. LEAVE SCREEN.
Now if you use  LEAVE TO SCREEN, u need to indicate the screen when it needs to back to calling screen:
    - Go from 100 to 200
LEAVE TO SCREEN 200. (Instead of CALL SCREEN 200)
    - Back to 100.
LEAVE TO SCREEN 100. (Instead of LEAVE TO SCREEN 0)
    Max

  • Extract forecast results and accuracy (errors) in an ABAP program

    Hi Experts,
We are executing forecast in background using planning jobs in a process chain. We are doing this in 2 stages - 1. at Product group & Location level and 2. at Product & Location level. The selection ids that we have created for these jobs contain multiple product & locaton combinations or product group & locaton combinations.
We can see the forecast reults, messages and errors in the job logs and messages (in the process chain ad spool). I would like to extract this same information into an ABAP program. We are basically tryig to find out the Product group and location combinations for which the MAPE is greater tha 50%.
There is a table /SAPAPO/FCSTACCU which gives the MAPE and other forecast errors. There is a fileld "Pointer for forecast results", I'm not able to relate this with our Product group & Location codes. Can anyone give me any ideas on how to proceed?
Thank you indeed for your contribution.
    Best regards,
    Fasial Ali

    Hi
All the background job are getting stored in the following tables
    /SAPAPO/LISLOG
    /SAPAPO/LISMAP
I think here you should able to find out all the information per product , location. As the respective information is available in tables, you can use them in ABAP program.
I hope this will help you.
    Amol
