Catch exceptions without BPM

Hi everybody,
we got a lot of BPM just because of exception handling.
In most cases incoming IDOCS are transformed and send to different backend-systems.
In our exceptions branches we generate IDOC type SYSTAT to inform the sending R/3 about a error.
Do you see a workaround without BPM?
Thanks Regards
Mario

Hi,
Here's what you may be able to try:
1. When error occurs raise an alert through the RWB.
2. Configure the Mail Adapter to poll the mailbox for this alert
3. Set up the necessary repository/directory objects to process the alert message from the Mail Adapter to the IDOC type you require to alert an error has occurred.
This way you can do away with the BPM altogether.
If you want slightly different processes for system error and mapping error - then set up 2 different alerts for the Mail Adapter to process.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Colin.

  • How to Throw/Catch Exceptions in BPM

    Hi All,
    I've seen a couple articles that talk about how to Throw/Catch an execption in a BPM. My question has two parts:
    1) RFC Call: I was able to catch an Fault Message in an exception step when calling an RFC (Synchronous Interface). What I wanted to do is use the fault message (exception) and store it in a DB for later review.
    2) IDOC: I'm sending an IDOC to R3 from a BPM. The send step is enclosed in a block w/ an exception. The send step is throwing an error (IDOC adpater system error), but the exception is never thrown. My question is: when the error occurrs at the adapter level does it still throw an exception in a BPM?
    Thanks for any tip/advice/anything!
    Fernando.

    Hi Fernando,
    1) Define a send step in the exception branch.
    2) If u send a IDoc from R/3 to XI and the IDoc adapter is running to an error of course there cant be an exception in ur business process. Usually the IDoc adapter sends back status back up via ALEAUD. In case of success IDoc should have then '03', if the adapter cannot send anything the IDoc should remain at '39'. U should send a ALEAUD in case of exception of BPM switching to status '40', in case of success to '41'.

  • SOAP-XI-RFC sync without BPM scenario: How to catch timeout exception in PI

    Hi all
    I made a scenario where a Webservice request was placed via XI to RFC in CRM.
    This is all done without BPM.
    Now the request came up that I have to handle undhandled exceptions from RFC such as Fatal Error, Dump in CRM etc in PI so that customer can get the idea of what happend in the Backend rather PI failing in the monitoring. I did that in CRM by catching all the exception and sending a common error message to PI.
    But another requirement is to handle Message Timeout of the RFC in PI for e.g. If the request goes to the RFC and due to the volume of the data, it gets Timed Out then neither PI nor CRM can handle this and it results in PI failing to catch this excpetion.
    I tried Fault message type but that does not help either.
    Can I get some expert advice.
    Regards
    Naina

    Include your Send_to_RFC step inside a Block...have a deadline branch for this and an Exception Branch....in deadline branch have control step (thro Exception)....in Exception Branch have a Mapping and a Send Step....this mapping will produce a message (define separate DT for this) having constant values (like timeout occured message)
    If you are fine with alert message...then instead of Mapping and Send step in Exception include a Control Step (thro alert)....alert message can be "timeout occured in receiving RFC response"

    Abhishek.

  • How to handle system exception in Sync communication without BPM? Help!

    Hi Experts
       I have a Synchronous scenario in XI: webservice <------>RFC SAP R/3.
      Webservice is making a sync call to RFC FM in SAP R/3 system.
       I want to handle system exception when SAP R/3 is down and send an email alert.
       Can I achieve this in graphical mapping without BPM? How? Kindly provide necessary steps/screenshots for the same.
       Are there any other alternatives for handling system exception apart from mapping and BPM?
    Thanks
    Gopal

    Hi GopalKirshna,
          Yes,You can handle the Exception if at all you are using the RFC.You can achieve this without using BPM.
       Using Fault message you can catch the System Exception and even the primary role for Fault Message is to catch the RFC Exceptions.
       Please refer the Fault messages Notes to achieve this you will understand better.
    Hope I am clear.
    Please let me if you have any more queries regarding this..!
    Thanks and Rewards,
    Chandu.

  • Exception handling without BPM

    Hello,
    I have done exception handling with BPM.
    i.e. when there exception comes in mapping I have use Block  Exception Handler.
    Can this be done without BPM.
    Please snd me blog for it.

    Hi,
    As explained by Michal it is correct, but in message mapping , we can raise an alert .

  • Async Sync Bridge without BPM (Proxy-Soap-Idoc)

    Hi,
    I have read some blogs how to do the Async Sync Bridge without BPM for JMS adapters. I have a requirement that I am getting a Async Proxy message to PI and then PI makes Sync Soap call then the result need to send through the Idoc adapter.
    Proxy - Soap- Idoc
    Here Proxy is a sender so no adapter required in the Config and also Soap is java based adapter and Idoc adapter is a ABAP based so I am not sure this is possible but I just wanted to check with you.
    Please let know if this is possible or not?

    The mapping programm can be defined as a user defined function. As sample of mine is "getGoogle()", which is doing some kind of address validation. The input parameter URL[0] contains source address. For that you need to import:
    org.apache.commons.logging.*;
    org.w3c.dom.*;
    javax.xml.parsers.*;
    org.xml.sax.SAXException;
    org.apache.commons.httpclient.*;
    org.apache.commons.httpclient.methods.*;
    org.apache.commons.codec.*;
    org.apache.log4j.*;
    Example code for UDF "getGoogle()" is:
    String sUrl = "http://maps.google.de/maps/api/geocode/xml?address=" + URL[0] + "&sensor=false";
    HttpClient client = new HttpClient();
    GetMethod method = new GetMethod(sUrl);
    byte[] responseBody = null;
        try {
    //      int statusCode = client.executeMethod(method);
    //      byte[] responseBody = method.getResponseBody();
    //     result.addValue(new String(responseBody));
    String sResponse = "initial";
    int statusCode = client.executeMethod(method);
    responseBody = method.getResponseBody();
    ByteArrayInputStream bis = new ByteArrayInputStream(responseBody);
    DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    DocumentBuilder db = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
    Document doc = db.parse(bis);
    doc.getDocumentElement().normalize();
    NodeList nodeLst = doc.getElementsByTagName("formatted_address");
    Node formAdr = nodeLst.item(0);
    NodeList nlFormAdr = formAdr.getChildNodes();
    sResponse = ((Node) nlFormAdr.item(0)).getNodeValue();
          // Deal with the response.
        result.addValue(sResponse);
        } catch (Exception e) {
          result.addValue(e.toString() + "######## exhrenda - googleResponse:############### URL=" + sUrl+"###########"+new String(responseBody));
        } finally {
          // Release the connection.
          method.releaseConnection();

  • File-RFC-File (without BPM)- Issue

    Hi All,
    I am working on a File-RFC-File (without BPM) scenario in PI 7.1.
    My scenario is having few problems like, its not able to delete the file from the source directory path (for which we have delete permissions) and it is an NFS system and it shows an error in the Sender file CC.
    "Error: com.sap.aii.af.service.cpa.impl.exception.CPAObjectKeyException: Value of key must not be null: ObjectId"
    But it gets processed successfully and provides a written paramter which I could see in MONI, but again doesn't write the file in the target directory. Could you please provide your inputs and let me know if I need to do any additional settings w.r.to PI7.1.
    These are the parameters which I have specified in the Sender File adapter

  • File is not getting deleted in File-RFC-File without BPM

    Hi,
    I'm working on File-RFC-File scenario without BPM. Everything is working fine except file is not getting deleted after the process. I'm passing xml file here and in return it will give the xml success/error message from RFC.
    For the sender CC, I'm passing the following parameters,
    Transsport protocol: File system
    Message protocol: File
    QoS: BE
    Poll Interval: 30 sec
    Mode: Delete
    File type: Binay
    Please let me know if I missed anything while passing the values.

    Everything seems fine but not getting the values.Can anybody help. Can multimapping done with source idoc?

    Hi Prasad,
    It will definitely work and please see the jin for exactly the same scenario.

    While testing in mapping make sure you put your payload within:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <ns0:Messages xmlns:ns0="http://sap.com/xi/XI/SplitAndMerge">
       <ns0:Message1>
          <YOUR PAYLOAD HERE>
       </ns0:Message1>
    </ns0:Messages>

  • Async/ Sync without BPM where Async channels are different.

    Hi Guys,
    I've created a couple of async/ sync bridges without BPM for File to Web Service to File and for JMS to Web Service to JMS.
    Is it possible to use two different types of asynchronous communication channels when creating an async/ sync bridge? I've tried to create a File to Web Service to JMS queue, but it fails with the following error appearing on the File communication channel.
    Error: com.sap.aii.af.service.cpa.impl.exception.CPAObjectKeyException: Value of key must not be null: ObjectId
    All the best,
    John

    Hi John,
    Actually the fact that you get this error in the sender file CC makes me think is it purely related to the communication channel configuration. Try to make sure if your scenario works without the additional RequestResponseBean in the receiver (so as a simple Async scenario). When you have that one working, try to add the RequestResponseBean.
    Hope this helps,
    Greg

  • Asynch-Synch without BPM

    Hello,
    We have an asynch to synch (File to RFC) which was successfully done using the blog (aysnch-synch without BPM). The interface works fine except when there are failures. Whenever there is a mapping failure, the module bean waits and does not process it which is a perfect synchronous behavior.  However is there a way to make use of the asynchronous property of the sender file adapter (which is to read the incoming files, archive them and may be queue them after the archive step incase of failures).  I tried the callsapadapter before the module bean call but it doesnu2019t seem to do the trick. Any advise is very helpful.
    Teresa

    Hi,
    It seems your scenario is working fine as per the blog.
    For archiving files in sender file adapter you have an option..in processing mode you can select Archive so that files that have been successfully processed are moved to an archive directory.
    Under Archive Directory, enter the name of the archive directory.
    If you want to archive the files on the FTP server, set the Archive Files on FTP Server indicator. If you do not set the indicator, the files are archived in the Adapter Engine file system.
    Thanks

  • Suggestion required for with or without BPM

    I have a requirement IDOC-XI-SOAP.
    I am using multimapping 1:N  one idoc gets spilt into say three wsdl, A B and C.
    My first requirement is if A fails then B and C should not be sent.
    If I use only EOIO without BPM then I will need to identify B and C for the corresponding A in the queue and remove it.
    That looks tedious as sometimes B and C may not be there for A and is there any way to identify the related messages?
    This can be achieved through BPM I believe.
    My second requirement is IDOC2 should not be processed before IDOC1.
    So If I used BPM will this be guaranteed? is BPM EOIO. (Even after transformation step?) If not then can it be configured?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi all,
    Just bringing this topic up again as I have stuck at one place. and found not much help on SDN.
    I have designed this requirement using BPM.
    That is IDOC-BPM-SOAP.
    Within BPM I make a synchronous call to Webservice. if there is a fault exception thrown the BPM workflow stops at that point and no further process steps are carried out. This is working fine as per the requirement.
    But this does not get blocked up in the BPM queue. I want to stop the next IDOC from processing before handling the prviously errored IDOC scenario.
    Now I briefly understand that since BPM is doing a sync call these are not placed in the queue. Is there a way I can handle this so that these interfaces are placed in the BPM queue (which starts with XBQO$PE_WS.....).
    I have tried with exception branch, even this stops the BPM workflow but does not block the queue, or the workflow gets processed successfully.
    Is there anyway I can block the queue if the BPM synch call fails?

  • Reg Alerts using with & without BPM.

    Dear Experts,
               The flow of the inbound message is Customers>( Seeburger Adapter which receives the message and passes to the integration of XI CENTRAL HUB) CENTRAL XI HUB> XI HUB-->SAP System and the out bound is viceversa.
    1. A Message failed with the Mapping Exception Error in the SXMB_MONI of the CENTRAL XI Hub. An alert should be raised for thsi error in the form of email..how this can be done WITHOUT BPM ? or WITH BPM ?
    2. How to integrate This type of alerts with with Tivoli to raise a ticket with the support team ?
