Catching errors in web services
I have a web service that I am adding error handling to log
and notify me of anything that I haven't already caught with
specific cftry/catches. I put an onError function in my
application.cfc. When I test my error handling by calling the .cfc
as a component from a .cfm template, it works great. The onError
logs the error and sends me an email.
When I test using a .Net app and call the .cfc as a web
service, something besides my onError seems to catch the error. It
returns "coldfusion.xml.rpc.CFCInvocationException:
[coldfusion.runtime.UndefinedVariableException : Variable apple is
undefined.]" (My test is trying to add 1 to apple (which is not
defined) ).
Whatever this mysterious handler is correctly identifies the
error. But, it is not calling my routines to log and email me.
Anyone have a clue how to catch errors in web services???
Thanks,
Mike
Hi mferris,
Looks like I'm facing the same exact situation trying to use onError() method in a webservice:

I would be very happy to know how did you successfully solve this problem. Thanks.

2) Error when activating DataSource ZDS_WEBSERVICE BIDCLNT100
what will be the reason for this error plezase provide me good idea or provide step by step web service scenarious.
Thank you,
Shabeer Ahmed.Hi
Web AS 6.40 you can create a Web Service Proxy directly in Transaction SE80. Create a new package and right click on it. Choose Create -> Enterprise service / Web service -> Proxy object. Now you can choose how you want to provide the WSDL Source.

Error Invoking Web Service Action: Status (500): null
Hi forum
I am getting an "Invoking Web Service Action: Status (500): null" error when invoking a web service action block . The BLS transaction used as a web service outputs a text string which I tested using an xacute query . while executing the transaction as a web service the tracer tells me that there is no output .
Best regards,
Antonio
I am using an xMII 11.5 installation .

Yes Indeed, I was calling inside a web service action another BLS transaction . Now , I am using a call to the transaction using the runner . It worked fine .

Errors installing web service to use dreamweaver extension
Portal Version: 10g
OS/Vers. Where Portal is Installed:: Linux AS 2.1
Errors installing web service to use dreamweaver extension
Recently I download the dreamweaver extension for portal, but when I try to install it several errors are raised... in the installation guide the next message appear:
This installation for this feature is an easy 3 step procedure.
1. Installing the Portal web service
2. Configuring the web service to work with your portal (one time administrative process)
3. Installing the PortalTemplates extension for Dreamweaver MX
well but when I try to run the 1 step everything goes wrong...
in the guide say:
# Transfer this file to the OC4J_HOME/j2ee/home directory of the OC4J
(please make sure that the OC4J is up and running)
# Use the following command to install the web service
java -jar admin.jar ormi://<oc4j_host>:<oc4j_ormi_port>
<username> <password>
-deploy -file portalTemplate.ear -deploymentName portalTemplate
here it's where I have some questions,
1. the ormi referers to the rmi ok (I think that), well then I go tho the iasconsole and search for the ports and is show:
home RMI 3202
OC4J_Portal RMI 3203
OC4J_BI_Forms RMI 3204
then I use the home-> port 3202
java -jar admin.jar ormi://myhost.midtierinstall.com:3202
ias_admin ias_midtier_admin_password -deploy -file portalTemplate.ear -deploymentName portalTemplate
but the following messages appear :
Error: Unable to find java:ServerAdministrator : lookup error:javax.naming.AuthenticationException invalid username/passwod for default (ias_admin).... and the error continue... but the problem is that the password works when I use the enterprise manager in that midtier console...
I want to know if I'm doing something wrong or how I should use this command to install that web serviceThe ormi is the rmi port in the OC4J. This coold be found in oc4j_home/j2ee/home/config/rmi.xml file. The default port is 23791.
Hope this helps,

"Error in Web Service Execution"
Hi Guys,
Need your advise on this one. Upon receiving a Travel Request approval work item then trying to open the link I get the following error:
Error in web service execution : the launch handler was called with an incomplete parameter list
Any ideas?
RegardsHi Johan,
it seems when you clicking upon the link - it is sending a wrong set of parameters to underlying Web Service method. What I mean is - suppose the web service method is expecting 3 parameters - but the link click is actually effecting into sending less than that number. Please check what & how many parameter values are being sent to the web service.

CompileException: Error compiling web service (using ant jwsc)
Hi,
I try to use the ant task jwsc to create my portable artefacts for a web service.
Unfortunately I get the following exception:
BUILD FAILED
C:\Sun\jwsdp-2.0\apache-ant\bin\build.xml:7: weblogic.wsee.tools.jws.build.CompileException: Error compiling web service: C:\Sun\jwsdp-2.0\apache-ant\bin\src\test\WsTest.java
I do not know why the ant task can not compile my jws file (shown below) whereas Eclipse can!
package test;
import javax.jws.WebService;
@WebService (name="WsTestName", serviceName="WsTestServiceName")
public class WsTest {
* @param name
* @return Say hello to the person.
public String sayHello(String name) {
return "Hello, " + name + "!";
I hope somebody can help me.
Thanks
FranzI thought I would post an update since I found a solution. The problem was a ClassCast exception in a part of the SSL stack, that wanted to use the ant BuildException class. This has the effect of hiding the real issue which was that the SSL connection was not successfully occuring. The real problem was that the SSL connection started with a WSDL retrieved via SSL, but the connection for the port was through a username/password. When a username/password is used to create a port, the WL stack falls back to http and causes a ClassCast exception on weblogic.wsee.connection.transport.http.HttpTransportInfo. The solution is to create an https transport object when the service impl is created:
HttpsTransportInfo transport = new HttpsTransportInfo ();
transport.setUsername (user.getBytes ());
transport.setPassword (pass.getBytes ());
gServiceImpl = new PersistenceManagerService_Impl (url, transport);
and to create the port without parameters:
port = getServiceImpl ().getPersistenceManagerServicePort ();
This allows one-way SSL with username/password for the connection. -
Error Invoking Web Service Action: null
I am using the WEBSERVICE action in the BLS to access a third party system. I am getting an error during execution: [ERROR]: Error Invoking Web Service Action: null. I cannot find any messages in any of the logs. Even though the action fails, the remote WebService processes properly. My basis guy seems to think that it is related to SOAP incompatibilities/versions. Any other ideas floating around out there? Any other methods to troubleshoot? The external application uses Document-Literal Style web services and conforms to WS-I Basic Profile.
All -
Here is a trace. My remote web service returns an empty SOAP body upon success (SOAP envelope only). Is this causing the Null Pointer Exception??
PS - I am also getting a lot of "WARNING: received an illegal cookie" messages. Is this a problem.

please helpme, four days in that :SHi,
Can you provide the pl/sql function or the web service wsdl generated from it, so that we can try to reproduce it.
Also, in an earlier post, I saw a workaround of changing it so the function returned defined type as :
type ListCursor is ref cursor return ListRecord
You can also see if this works out if possible.

Error invoking web service in 10.1.3.0.4
Hi, Has any one encountered this problem or have an idea what to do about it? When I try to invoke a web service that executes a PL/SQL function that returns a ref cursor,if the select statement joins tables that are in more then one schema, then invoking the ...XMLRowSet service produces this error:
xmlns:ns0="http://develop/RL.wsdl/types/"><env:Body><env:Fault><faultcode>env:Server</faultcode><faultstring>Internal Server Error (caught exception while handling request: java.rmi.RemoteException: java.sql.SQLException: Expected name instead of .)</
I've tried specifying the schemas in the sql statement with no luck. Joins within one schema work fine. Testing the pl/sql function returns rows and no errors.Hi,
Can you provide the pl/sql function or the web service wsdl generated from it, so that we can try to reproduce it.
Also, in an earlier post, I saw a workaround of changing it so the function returned defined type as :
type ListCursor is ref cursor return ListRecord
You can also see if this works out if possible.

How we get the actual error from crystal report?
Thanks in AdvanceWhat is the workflow
What is the application doing?
Iu2019m guessing you have a windows service application and you're trying to launch a UI (ie the viewer control) from the application or print using the vieweru2019s printing functionality programmatically(?).
If this is a Windows Service running under the local system account, then follow the instructions in the error message. (ie, bring up the properties of the service, go to the logon tab and check the checkbox that says u201CAllow service to interact with desktopu201D. At least that should allow whatever popup is trying to come up display properly.

Error creating web service proxy for bpel process in jdev 10.1.3
Hi,
I am trying to create a web service proxy in Jdeveloper 10.1.3, and get the following error:
Element type "fault" is missing required attribute "name"
I have created a fault on one of the operations, and in the .wsdl file there is a name attribute:
<operation name="process">
<fault name="TestError" message="client:TestErrorMessage"/>
</operation>
The fault definition in the .wsdl obtained from the process when you access it over http is somewhat different:
<fault>
<soap:fault name="TestError" use="literal" encodingStyle="" />
</fault>
Any ideas how to workaround this problem?

GP Action ID does not exist error in web service
Hi Experts,
I am testing "Complete GP Action" web service. Firstly, I start a process in GP Runtime and I can get processID and taskID from NWA->Monitoring->GP. Then I use WSNavigator to test action wsdl from "http://<host>:<port>/gpcore/GPExecuteActionWSDL/aidX/averY?wsdl" as mentioned in
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/44/55a0b999d44de2e10000000a1553f7/content.htm
Then, in the input parameters, I entered processID like "13a2", actionID like "3a0", and processor like "administrator". After clicking execute, I got the error "actionID 3a0 does not exist". However, I got the 3a0 from NWA, I also use the GPWorkitems web service to check the processID and actionID. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Does anyone successfully complete an action outside GP through web service?
Best RegardsHi Tom Chu ,
